Have you ever seen such stunning skin (on a grown up)???? Whatever the shade of lippie or liner swipe that Jourdan Dunn wears look iridescent on her dewy skin. Whether she is shining bright in turquoise, blooming in burgundy or mixing up pastel shades for a peachy glow, it is no wonder she was shot as the poster girl for The Telegraph’s Stella magazine Beauty special.
Photographer Arved Colvin Smith is used to working with super models, but this is a super shoot with one of my faves!

The night of the Oscars was finally here, after much anticipation. You were nominated for ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ alongside many big names like Kristen Stewart and Penelope Cruz. This was your first time at the Oscars, which was unbelievable to you and your friends and family. Your first lead role in a big movie and you are nominated for one of, if not, the biggest awards you could be nominated for as an actress. To say you were nervous was an understatement.
Florence was accompanying you tonight. Although she was invited to the Oscars, she would be arriving as your plus one. She had not been nominated for anything this time, but she was more than happy to come and support you during your big night.
She was so proud of you for the incredible job you did in your film “Conscious Spirit”, playing a woman who was on a journey to find her parents after they suddenly disappeared. Florence had been there for you through all of your success and failures as an up and coming actress, all leading up to this huge accomplishment. You were quick to say that you couldn’t have done it all without her help and advice as a seasoned actress, but she gave all the credit to you, as she knew how hard you worked for it.
Hair and makeup arrived at your hotel at 1pm, as both you and Florence were being done up by Flo’s creative glam team, as she puts it. Peter Lux was doing your hair and Alex Babsky was doing your makeup, making both of you look your best for the award show tonight.
Flo’s stylist, Rebecca Corbin-Murray was also joining today to style the two of you. You and Florence wanted to do a matching look for the night, as it was your first time coming to an award show as a couple. The two of you had announced your relationship to the world a few weeks prior and already, many people were anticipating your first appearance together to be at the Oscars.
Rebecca picked a stunning nude, almost pastel yellow dress for Florence, and for you, she chose a nude cutout suit, each of you wanting to go for a more subtle look for the evening.
After about an hour in the makeup and hair chair, Florence already finished getting all glam, you began feeling the nerves.
Sure, you had been to award shows before, but never one as big as the Oscars. Worries flooded your head as you thought about the worst case scenario about how the night would play out. Surely, something bad was bound to happen.
Florence noticed your face change, a look that you often got when you were overthinking. “Y/N?”
You snapped out of your thoughts as you looked at Flo, who was making her way over to you. She stood beside you, making sure not to get in Peter’s way as he finished up your hair. He chose a sleek bun, adding a few pieces to leave out in the front.
“Darling, is everything alright?” You nodded, reaching out to take Flo’s hand in yours. Holding her hand always calmed you down, as you were prone to anxiety.
“I’m just a bit nervous, that’s all,” you said, barely above a whisper. A deep exhale came from your nose as you tried to calm yourself, knowing if you didn’t do it now, a panic attack would soon follow.
Florence gave your hand a squeeze and gave you a small smile. “Hey, look at me.” Your eyes fluttered to her’s, causing the butterflies in your stomach to disappear.
“You’re going to do great, I promise. What’s got you so worried?” Tearing your eyes away from her’s, looking around at all the people in the room, everything started to feel real, and scary,  all of a sudden.
Florence followed your eyes and asked Peter if you could take a 5 minute break, as she guided you by the hand into the bathroom. You followed her in and took a seat on the toilet as she shut the door behind you. She came right to you, kneeling in front of you as she placed her hands on your thighs, looking up at you.
“Come on love, what’s the matter? Whatever it is, it’ll be okay,” Florence said, moving a piece of hair behind your ear. You swallowed the lump in your throat as tears welled up in your eyes.
“I feel so out of place, Flo. What if they made a mistake, I shouldn’t be nominated for this award,” you spilled out. “Everyones going to know that I don’t deserve it.”
Florence frowned listening to your words. No one believed more than her that you deserved this, if only you saw that yourself.
“Honey, why do you think that? Because it’s not true, you deserve it so much, it’s crazy. You’ve worked so hard for this, where’s this idea coming from?”
A few tears left your eyes, falling down your blush covered cheeks. Florence reached up to wipe them away, careful not to smudge the makeup off with them.
“I’m just so new at this and there are people who have worked for years trying to get an Oscar nomination, it almost feels like it was handed to me.” Florence pursed her lips together. She reached for your hands and placed a kiss on your knuckle, you following her every move with teary eyes. She guided you up and off the seat, leading you in front of the mirror. Turning your hips so you were looking at yourself in the mirror, Flo took the spot beside you, keeping her hand on your lower back.
Florence placed a soft kiss on your cheek, one that you leaned into. “Darling, I promise you that you deserve this nomination. You’ve worked hard and put in the work and now you’re being rewarded for it,” she said quietly, keeping her eyes on you through the mirror. “And who cares what other people think? You and I both know that whatever happens tonight, you are amazing at what you do, and you wouldn’t be up there with everyone else if other people didn’t see it too. Right?” She nudged your shoulder playfully, causing a small smile to form on your lips as you nodded.
“Right,” you whispered back, wiping the last of your tears. Flo turned you toward her as she brought your body closer to her before giving you a sweet kiss.
Turning you back to the mirror, she moved behind you and wrapped her arms around your waist and put her chin on your shoulder. “I want you to look in the mirror and repeat after me, love. Can you do that for me?” You nodded, eyes wide as you watched Flo speak.
Florence smiled before she spoke in your ear. “I am a hard worker.”
“I am a hard worker,” you repeated, placing your hands on her’s.
“I am loved and protected.”
“I am loved and protected.”
“I can do hard things with ease.”
“I can do hard things with ease.”
“Okay last one. No matter what happens tonight, I deserve everything good in my life,” Florence spoke, giving your waist a tight squeeze. You smiled, closing your eyes and taking the moment in before speaking.
“No matter what happens tonight, I deserve everything good in my life.”
Flo smiled at your words, giving your neck a quick peck before looking at you again. “Good girl. Feel any better?”
Your cheeks flushed red at the compliment. “Yes, thank you my love. I feel a lot better. I think I’m ready to go back out there.”
And with that, you and Florence made your way out of the bathroom to finish getting ready for your big night.
//
During the car ride to the award show, you held onto Flo’s hand as you watched out the window. As you got closer, you saw the waves of traffic on the streets, the majority of the cars being people coming home from work, but you wondered how many of them were people like you, going to the Oscars.
As you arrived, a security guard opened your door so you and Flo could get out of the car. Immediately, you saw the flashing lights of the paparazzi that followed you as you walked down to the beginning of the red carpet. Luckily, there wasn’t a line for you to have to wait to walk the carpet, so you and Florence got right up there, after telling the person with the whiteboard who you two were. The lady wrote your names on the whiteboard so the paparazzi knew whose names to yell as they begged the celebrities for a second of their time to snap a picture.
Moments like these overwhelm you, as the flashing lights and loud yells make you not be able to think, barely hearing the people next to you. You and Florence walked hand in hand down the carpet, getting pictures of you together and then some separate. By the time you two made it to the interview portion of the carpet, you were feeling the pressure, but with Florence there with you, it wasn’t so bad.
The first interview you did was with a well known reporter, Michelle, who had been to as many Academy Award shows as you can remember. You’d seen her on TV more times than you could count, so the second you saw her, you knew exactly who she was.
You made your way to her, embracing her in a hug once you got to her spot. Florence stayed behind you, watching you do your interview “Y/N, it’s so good to see you out here tonight! Congratulations on the nomination! How are you feeling?”
“I’m doing great, excited to be here tonight, thank you! How are you?” The two of you conversed for a few minutes, before you moved on to the next person, taking Flo’s hand back as you walked.
All around you, people were stopping you and Florence, congratulating you on your nomination, as well as the two of you for your official new couple status. Everyone there was head over heels for the two of you together, many of your favorite celebrities stopping you to say hello.
The last interview you had was with Emily Uribe, a TikToker who was invited to interview at the show. You had seen all of her videos and was so excited to be able to talk to her in person.
“Y/N, it is so great to finally meet you, how are you feeling being out here tonight for your first nomination?”
“Emily, I’ve been watching your TikToks for months now and trust me, I am the one who is more excited. But I’m doing great! I was a little nervous to come here, but I have a really great support system with me, so now I’m just excited!”
Emily smiled as you two spoke. “And I see you’ve brought your beautiful girlfriend, Florence, with you tonight. How has this whole experience been with her? This is your first event as an official couple, right?”
You nodded, reaching for Flo’s hand, signaling for her to come join you. Florence shyly walked up to you too, shaking Emily’s hand, greeting her with enthusiasm.
“Yes, this is our first event together, but we’ve actually been together for about 8 months. Florence has been the absolute best through everything today, I couldn’t be more happy to be able to spend my first Academy Award show with her,” you said, looking lovingly at Florence. She flashed you a smile back, wrapping her arm around your waist.
“That’s so cute, alright I’m officially jealous of your relationship. You two have got to be the couple of the night. I’m sure I’m not the only one that is excited to see you two together. Y/N, I wish you all the best tonight, and Florence, it was lovely to meet you. I hope you’re just as proud of Y/N as we all are.”
Florence nodded. “I am absolutely so proud of her, you can’t even imagine. She makes me proud every day. It was lovely to meet you too, Emily. Have a fun night tonight, okay?”
As you and Florence walked off and into the building, you pulled Florence aside and into a deep kiss. Your hands made your way up to her waist, gripping on to her as you pulled her into you, as she wrapped her arms around your neck.
“What was that for?” Florence asked, taken by surprise.
“For what you said back there, and for being the best girlfriend ever. I love you,” you replied, holding her close to you. She smiled her gorgeous smile and leaned back in for another kiss, before being interrupted by a security guard yelling for people to go into the room where the awards were being held. Grabbing Flo’s hand, you made your way inside, finding your seats.
You two were placed at a table with your publicist, Mark, along with Jacob Elordi, Elliot Page, and each of their respective plus ones and publicists. You had an aisle seat, which was great for you in case you had to escape due to anxiety, or just for some fresh air.
Shortly after taking your seats and chatting with everyone at the table, the awards began. Wanda Sykes, Regina Hall, and Amy Shumer were the hosts of the evening, so the three of them came out to begin the show.
Not long after the show began, the first round of winners were announced, first for Best Supporting Actress and Actor, leading with Best Costume Design.
As the time for your category got closer and closer, your nerves began to rise, palms sweating and legs bouncing. Florence noticed, of course, and closed a calming hand on your knee. She leaned in to whisper in your ear so you can hear her, “Baby, remember what we practiced in the mirror? You’ve got this, there's no need to be nervous.” Nodding, you interlocked your hand with hers, nerves floating away.
“Now, I gotta say, this next category is a tough one, ladies. I think out of the whole show, the fans are most excited to see who will take home the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role,” Amy said, loud from the stage. Your attention was brought up there as you heard your category, pulling your focus from the worrying thoughts to the stage.
“I think you’re right, Amy. Now, announcing the nominees for Best Actress in a Leading Role, we have Kristen Stewart in Spencer, Nicole Kidman in Being the Richardos, Penelope Cruz in Parallel Mothers, Olivia Coleman in The Lost Daughter, and newcomer, Y/N Y/L/N in Conscious Spirit,” Wanda announced, as the camera panned to each of the nominees, landing on you as the last one to be called. You smiled as the camera pointed at you, hoping the nerves weren’t obvious.
Silence after an applause came over the crowd as everyone looked up on stage, waiting for the winner to be called. Regina opened the envelope that held the name of the winner.
“And the winner of Best Actress in a Leading role is…Y/N Y/L/N!”
The round of applause erupted over the crowd, whistles and loud cheers brought you out of a gaze as you heard your name being called. You turned your head toward Florence, mouth wide open in shock, as she wrapped her arms around your neck, pulling you into a hug.
“Baby, you did it, you won!” Florence cheered loudly for you as you hopped out of your seat and made your way up to the stage, still in shock over hearing your name being called as the winner. Making your way up to the three ladies on stage, you gave each of them a quick hug before accepting your award and heading to the podium. Cheers from the crowd kept going as you stood up on stage, looking out to see people standing out of their seats, applauding for you.
You did it. You won. Confusion clouded your head while tears of joy filled your eyes as you looked out into the crowd to find Florence, who was beaming at you.
You could feel how proud she was of you, as she gave you two huge thumbs up. She was practically jumping on top of her chair, hoping you'd see how excited she was for you.
As the crowd settled, you cleared your throat before speaking into the mic, not prepared with a speech.
“Hi, um wow, this is…incredible. I don’t even know what to say, I think I’m still in shock so bear with me, please,” you laughed into the mic, wiping a few tears from your face. You heard a couple of stray laughs and cheers from the audience, making you smile brightly.
“Never in a million years did I ever expect this to happen tonight. If only you all could have seen me 4 hours earlier. I was a mess and doubtful of my abilities, I didn’t believe I even belonged to be here tonight, let alone nominated for this award,” you said, trying to calm your nerves as you spoke, praying you didn’t mess up. “But I have a very special person with me here today who helped me realize that there isn’t anything I can’t do, and that not only should I be proud of myself for this award, but I shouldn’t doubt myself because she has always believed in me.”
You caught a glimpse of Florence, who was wiping away tears from her own eyes as she blew a kiss to you. “I want to thank my agents and managers, as well as my cast and crew that I had the pleasure of working with for this movie. I also want to thank my family and friends who are supporting me from home. And thank you to everyone who has believed in me, because I wouldn’t be here without you. Lastly, I want to thank my girlfriend, Florence, for being the most kind hearted and supportive person. There are no words for how much I appreciate her, thank you for always being there for me and giving me the confidence to believe in myself. I couldn’t think of a better person to have by my side, I love you. Thank you everyone for this, you guys rock!”
A second wave of applause erupted from the audience as you made your way off the stage with your award in hand, waving to people as you walked down the stairs and went back to your seat. The second you got back, you wrapped Florence up in a big huge, who was crying real, big tears for you. “I’m so proud of you baby, I love you so much. I knew you could do it.”
The camera panned back to you, capturing the sweet moment of you two embracing, as you held her in your arms. “I love you so much, thank you for believing in me.”
As the award show was coming to an end, the night was barely just beginning. There were many afterparties to go to, but all you could think about was the event that just took place. You barely had time to wrap your mind around what had just happened, as you made your way to the car, award in hand, with your empty arm linked with Florence.
After the show, you two were heading back to the hotel just to change into a different look before heading back out to the Vanity Fair after party.
While in the car, you could feel Florence staring at you, as her hands lazily ran up and down your arm. “I can feel you staring at me.”
Flo smiled before leaning in to place a kiss on your cheek. “So what? You’re beautiful and I just can’t believe how lucky I am.” A blush rose to your cheeks as you looked into her eyes.
“I’m the lucky one. Thank you again, Florence. I really can’t believe I have the best girlfriend ever,” you said before leaning in for a kiss.

Do you remember the picture Alex Babsky shared of Simone? Any idea what it was for
I have no idea what it was for, but we know there are at least two things coming; whatever this is from, and whatever the thing from the end of last year that Alex did her make up for as well. This is the photo though (because it never hurts to see again lol)

Which/who is Rebecca’s PR team, where can we follow them on social media?
If the collaboration with Kate is true I totally agree with you! Except for some Chanel choices Kate made for a couple of her clients I’ve always loved her choices and with Rebecca being free from any collaboration her looks could be really on point. I also love so much Pati Dubroff as a makeup artist who worked with Rebecca for her appearance on the late show with James Corden when she promoted Doctor Sleep in the USA and I’d love to see the two of them working together again for Rebecca’s upcoming US/Canadian promotions.
Maybe Rebecca has reached a certain point in her career where the glamour team around her becomes more important in terms of names and made of well known people in the business. That’s the idea I had in my mind. Personally, I would really like to see this upgrade if we can call it that way.
Yes, her agency is Independent Public Relations and they have an Instagram page.
I agree, whenever Margot is "free" of her Chanel contract Kate makes very trendy choices. I think especially the red carpets are their forte! Pati Dubroff is a good choice in the make up department as well, she likes a bold red lip and generally very bright fun make up. I wouldn't mind Alex Babsky to return - his make up from 2015-16 especially accentuating Rebecca's eyes was very on point!
Elizabeth Saltzman is also a very renowned and very prestige stylist, always on the list of those best Hollywood stylists. And when they started collaboration in 2017 her looks were very good, like the whole Life promo tour, The Greatest Showman promo tour. But then something happened, we think maybe Rebecca was not styled by Elizabeth per se later on, but her associates at Team Saltzman because otherwise how can you explain the non-matching blacks, too long pants and those ensembles that were totally wrong for her proportions for the Kid promo tour. I mean she is beautiful but sometimes you look at this or that promo and think this could have been done much better.
