chapter four: gifts from hestia
(masterlist) (part 1) (part 2) (part 3)
hello beautiful people <3 here's part 4!!
synopsis: After deciding to let Abby live, Ellie has returned to Jackson. But given everything she's lost, it no longer feels like home. She's sad, she's confused, and above all else, she is so, so very lonely. So when a group of strangers shows up and offers her a second chance, she might just take them up on that. Ellie must decide between staying in Jackson – and living with the ghosts of her past – or leaving in search of new meaning. Whatever she decides, her choice will have far-reaching consequences – not just for herself, or for Jackson, but for all of humanity.
Or,
Ellie saves the world, maybe?
(ellie williams x reader, post-tlou2, useless lesbians, slow burn, cross country road trip, lots of references to greek mythology, etc.)
Hestia: Greek goddess of hearth and home. Originates from the Greek word “Ἑστία,” meaning “hearth” or “fireside.”
[Ellie]
Ellie could feel the stares before they even got to the town center. As news does in small towns, word of the new arrivals and their conversation the night before seemed to have already made its way around the entire community. Ellie could hear murmured conversations as she passed by, and it was obvious she was the topic of interest. After all, it wasn’t very often that a group of strangers showed up and took someone with them when they left. Even less common, though, was the revelation of that person’s immunity, which inevitably became the talk of the town.
Ellie kept her head down as she walked. Never before had so many people known her secret, and despite having no control over her situation, she still felt guilty. She felt, of all people, she was the last person who deserved such a gift. And now, walking through the town center, everyone else seemed to feel that way too.
When they arrived at the dining hall, the newcomers were already waiting. When Dr. Reynolds noticed the packed bag on Ellie’s back, his face lit up. He clasped his hands together and exclaimed, “Ms. Williams! We’re thrilled you’ve decided to join us.” Next to him, Lucy smiled widely.
“Uh… yeah, no problem,” Ellie replied awkwardly. She couldn’t help but notice other townspeople taking a keen interest in their interaction. Part of her wished Dr. Reynolds would tone it down a few decibels, and she tried to swallow her embarrassment.
Lucy fished around for something in her bag. “Here, we got some food for you already,” she said as she handed Ellie some canned goods. “We didn’t know what you would decide, but he’s the eternal optimist.” She nodded her head towards her father, who grinned with excitement. “Says he had a good feeling about you.”
Ellie looked between the two and, against her better judgment, felt herself warming up to the pair. Hard as she tried, it was difficult to dislike them. “Thanks,” she said.
Putting her hand on Ellie’s shoulder, Maria said, “Well, let’s get you all on the road then, shall we? The gate is this way.”
After a short walk, the group arrived at the entrance and Maria gave the order to open the doors. The newcomers made their way through the opening, but Ellie lingered inside. Wanting to say something, she turned to Maria, but words escaped her. Maria, usually so eloquent, seemed at a loss too. Instead, the woman reached forward and embraced Ellie in a tight hug.
Still holding on, Maria said, “Ellie, I know we’ve had our differences in the past, but I want you to know how much I care about you. You’ve been through more than anyone should ever have to go through, and I’ve seen how much it’s weighed on you these past few years. Whatever happens out there, I hope you find the peace you’re looking for.”
Ellie exhaled deeply. “Me, too,” was all she said. It was all she needed to say.
They were interrupted by someone nearby clearing their throat. Turning to see who it was, Ellie almost couldn’t believe who she saw. Even after so many years, she was still surprised by how similar he and Joel looked –  the same deep lines around his mouth and nose, the same tired eyes. Well, just eye, now.
“Hey, Tommy,” she said as she approached cautiously. She’d barely spoken to Tommy since returning, and she wasn’t sure what his intentions were. They both stood with their hands in their pockets.
“Hey, Ellie,” he replied. Even the way they said her name was the same. “I, uh… I heard you were leaving.” Ellie gave a tight-lipped smile and nodded in confirmation.
“Well, I just wanted to see you before you left. I, uh… I wanted to give you this.” He took something out of his pocket and handed it to her. It was small and flat, and displayed a hand drawn picture of a moth. She instantly recognized it as one of Joel’s guitar picks.
Tommy continued nervously, “It was one of his favorites. Kept the damn thing on him all the time. Thought you might like to have it.”
She could recall many a night when she had watched Joel on the porch with his guitar, that very same pick in hand. The memories brought a soft smile to her face.
“He’d be proud of you, y’know,” Tommy said quietly. “No doubt in my mind about it.”
Ellie felt her throat tighten. Not wanting to cry, all she responded with was, “Thanks, Tommy.”
He cleared his throat again. “Right, well, don’t wanna hold you up. Good luck out there.” He gave a final nod and walked back toward the center of town. Ellie stood watching him for a moment, then turned back towards the gate. She waved to a tearful Maria as the large doors closed behind her.
The short hike was largely uneventful. The early-autumn air meant they didn’t work up much of a sweat as they made their way through the forest. Lucy and Dr. Reynolds occasionally conversed about the wildlife, but the other three mostly remained silent. After about an hour, they stumbled out onto a paved road and approached a large truck parked nearby. They loaded their belongings into the back of the military-grade vehicle and took their seats in the cab. In the backseat, Lucy sat in the middle, with Dr. Reynolds to her left and Ellie to her right. Ellie leaned her head on the window to watch the foliage pass by, trying to cement into memory the place she once called home.
They stopped briefly every few hours to stretch their legs, until the sun began to set and Jacobs suggested they make camp for the night. The two guards left to check their surroundings while Lucy and Dr. Reynolds began to unpack the truck. They all moved with such efficiency that Ellie could tell they’d completed this routine many times before.
As he retrieved items from the truck, Dr. Reynolds said to Ellie, “I’m going to start a fire and get some food going. Would you mind helping unpack the rest? Lucy can show you what to grab.”
Without waiting for a reply, he turned and walked away. Lucy stood in the bed of the truck and waved Ellie over. When Ellie joined her, Lucy handed her items to carry.
“It’s mostly just sleeping bags and blankets,” Lucy explained, jumping down from the truck with a roll of fabric under each arm. “We have tents, too, but we only put them up when it rains. Saves time.”
“Makes sense,” Ellie replied.
“Alvaro and Jacobs alternate taking watch during the night. We’ve offered to help, but they insist on doing it themselves.” Lucy gave an exaggerated eye roll and smiled playfully. “Helps them feel like real macho-men, I think. But whatever floats their boat, I guess. More sleep for me.”
They finished laying the sleeping bags around the fire as Alvaro and Jacobs returned from their patrol of the area.
“Looks quiet,” Alvaro confirmed.
“That’s what I like to hear!” said Dr. Reynolds as he handed the men bowls of hot food. He then handed one to Ellie, which she accepted gratefully, realizing she hadn’t eaten all day.
She watched the fire as she ate, listening quietly to the others’ conversations. She didn’t know any of the people they were talking about, and she was more interested in Lucy and Dr. Reynolds’ relationship anyway. Ellie had known them for less than twenty-four hours, but it didn’t even take a whole minute to see how much they cared for each other. Lucy feigned annoyance during his tangents and ramblings, but she looked at him with such admiration it was clear she loved him deeply. Their back-and-forth was so easy, so comfortable. Observing their dynamic made Ellie a bit jealous, but mostly it just made her sad. It felt like watching an alternate version of her life – one that could have been, but would never be.
She pulled her legs to her chest and rested her chin on her knees. She lost herself in thought as she gazed sadly into the fire, only vaguely aware of Dr. Reynolds asking Jacobs a question. She didn’t notice Lucy until the other girl sat down right beside her.
“You looked cold,” Lucy explained quietly as she wrapped a blanket around Ellie’s shoulders. “How are you feeling?”
“Warmer,” Ellie replied cautiously, surprised by the kind gesture.
Lucy laughed. “Well, that’s good. But I meant, like, how are you feeling… otherwise? You looked a little upset.”
Ellie scratched the back of her neck in embarrassment. “Oh, yeah, um, I’m okay. Just… missing someone, I guess.”
Lucy nodded solemnly. “That’s understandable. Did you get to say goodbye to them, at least?”
Ellie shook her head. “No, he, uh… he’s been gone a long time.”
“Oh. I’m really sorry, Ellie.”
Ellie smiled sadly. “Thanks.”
Lucy absentmindedly ran a thumb over the tattoo on her wrist. Those dots – they seemed so familiar, but Ellie still couldn’t place where she’d seen them before. Lucy gazed at the fire as she said softly, “I know what it’s like to miss someone, too.” Ellie watched as the flames reflected in Lucy’s deep brown eyes.
Lucy continued, “I had a brother. A twin, actually. His name was Erebus.” She smiled to herself. “The name’s kind of out-there, I know. But our mom was a Classics professor. She was really into the Greeks or something. I never got to meet her, but my dad’s told me all about her. He says when my brother and I were born, the only way to tell us apart was our hair. His was really dark and mine was, well, like this” – she gestured to her strawberry-blonde curls – “and my mom knew just what to call us. Erebus and Lucia, darkness and light. Twins, poetic duality, yada yada yada.”
“Wow, you sure she wasn’t secretly a Firefly?” Ellie joked. “They really took that whole ‘ When you’re lost in the darkness, look for the light’ thing and ran with it.”
Lucy made an exaggerated time-out motion and said facetiously, “Woah, woah, woah. I cannot believe you just talked about my dead mother like that.” Ellie laughed, glad to have broken the ice between them. It was hard enough leaving Jackson, the least she could do was try to make a friend. She found herself feeling immensely grateful that someone her own age had come looking for her.
“And anyway,” Lucy said as she poked Ellie’s shoulder. “It’s not just me. Your mom must have been a Firefly too.” Ellie’s confusion must have shown on her face, because Lucy quickly explained, “Y’know… Ellie, Elizabeth, Liz. They all come from lux , which is light in Latin.” Lucy nudged Ellie’s shoulder with her own to emphasize the point. “That means you’re part of the light too, Ellie.”
Lucy yawned deeply and stood up. “Alright, enough history for now. All this sitting has me exhausted. There are extra blankets, so just let me know if you get cold again.” She gave Ellie a warm smile and turned to walk back to her own spot. Before leaving, though, she turned back and said, “I know it probably doesn’t mean much, but we’re really glad you’re here.”
Ellie smiled back as she watched the other girl turn away. She tucked herself into her own sleeping bag and propped up her backpack as a makeshift pillow. She considered what Lucy had said about their names. Despite the unpleasant taste the Firefly motto left in her mouth, she still liked the possibility of helping make the world a little brighter. And out of anyone she had ever met, she felt like Dr. Reynolds’ team had the best chance at doing just that.
We’re really glad you’re here. As Ellie drifted off to sleep, she decided, definitively, that she was glad to be there, too.

I was wondering if you know about Hamilton and know who Eliza and Maria Reynolds are. If not, I'll quickly explain. Eliza was the wife of Alexander Hamilton, who revealed he was having an affair with Maria Reynolds.
I was wondering if you could write two stories based on this:
1. 10th Doctor x (Maybe platonic?) Reader - based on First Burn/Burn from Hamilton where Reader leaves her cheating husband after the affair is revealed.
2. 11th Doctor x Reader - Reader was supposed to be a famous historical figure's mistress like Maria but accidentally changes the timeline when she doesn’t have an affair with the aforementioned historical figure.
Tumblr media
Hiiii I’ve missed you!!
Unfortunately I’ve never seen Hamilton or even heard of it 😅
Unfortunately because of that I wouldn’t be able to write either of these because I know nothing about it I’m sorry 💜

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I followed Alexander as he stormed out of my office and down the hall. "Alex!" I called out behind him. I managed to catch up to him in his office where he paced up and down the room in frustration. I walked in and slammed the door behind me.
"You mind telling me what the hell problem is?" I asked. My tone was cold but calm and my face was neutral. His face on the other hand shone with fury and distaste. "My problem is that you want us to help the woman who ruined my marriage and almost ruined my career because I was on the case of her husband," he hissed. I rolled my eyes and folded my arms. He had finally stopped pacing and was now seated behind his desk.
"First of all, the only person who ruined your marriage was you. You heard her reason for doing it and it was pretty fucking valid-" "Oh and mine wasn't?" he deadpanned. I narrowed my eyes at his audacity to interrupt me. "First of all of you ever interrupt me again, I will shoot you in your weird little kneecaps," I threatened. His mouth was shut instantly. "Second of all, you said she came to you saying that her husband was abusing her. Now here's what you could've done: You could've told her to file a restraining order against him and to report him to her local police department which they'd bring to you as new evidence for the case. But instead you went ahead and fucked a married woman knowing damn well that you were also married." He bit at his lip agressively as I stared him down.
The office was silent for some time until he spoke again. "We're still not helping her," he grumbled. At this point I was beyond done with Alexander Hamilton's bullshit. "It's funny how you think you have an opinion in this matter seeing how I'm your fucking superior! The same superior that's going to work this case even if it means I have to do it alone!" His expression switched to a worried one in an instant. "You could get killed." I clicked my tongue and scoffed. "Its part of the job." He was furious again. "So you're going to risk your life just to save that lowlife slut sitting in your office!?" he snapped.
I turned to leave his office but then stopped at the door to glare at him.
"No Alex. I'm going to risk my life to save Maria Reynolds and everybody else endangered by James Reynolds."
“Your Honor, the members of the jury find the defendant... guilty.”
You gave a low whistle while the Judge gave the final words, putting up a hand to return your co-counsel’s high-five without even having to look at him. Your smug grin never left your face even after the court was adjourned, only breaking into a more hyper celebration once you were out of the building.
“Fuck yeah, we deserve to celebrate!”
You laughed in agreement. “I couldn’t have pulled this off without you, Alex,” you sighed. Alexander simpered, taking the compliment very well. “Well, what can I say? I’m always up for the challenging ones.” He shrugged his shoulders, pride oozing out of his presence. You couldn’t blame him, though. You were an excellent public attorney par with even Alexander Hamilton himself, but this case had you on your toes for months, even with Alexander’s help, and the outcome was well worth the sleepless nights you shared with your friend.
The topic returned to the celebration. “We should invite everyone to me and Eliza’s place and throw a party because damn we deserve it,” Alexander suggested. You hummed thoughtfully at his offer for a bit before responding. “I’d love that, but can we move that a little later? I wanna celebrate alone with Maria, first,” you pointed out. Alexander pulled an all too knowing smirk, to which you rolled your eyes at.
“I haven’t given her much attention ever since this case came, and I’m sure Eliza’s in the same situation. Our own partners deserve to be pampered after all of this, don’t you think?”
“My Eliza’s fine-”
“Hamilton.”
You crossed your arms and raised a brow at your friend. “Let Eliza share the victory with you, I’m sure she’d be thrilled to listen about how your hard work paid off,” you reasoned out. “And besides, it’s the closest I’ll get to apologizing for stealing you away from her for months.” Alexander laughed at that, getting your point. He pulled out his phone, most likely to share the great news to his fiancé.
“Let’s have the big celebration next weekend, yeah?”
You could tell from the eagerness in his voice that he was excited to come home and spend time with Eliza. “Perfect,” you agreed. You were about to bid farewell, but Alexander was already in call with Eliza and chatting away with unprecedented joy. You chuckled at him and went to your car, dialing a number while you started the engine. It rang a few times before it was picked up.
“Hello?”
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Washington! Is Maria Reynolds still at work?”
“Oh, Miss Y/N! It’s always a pleasure to talk to you.”
You smiled at this. Martha had always been a caring boss, which is why you recommended Maria to her business when she was looking for a new job. You placed your phone on the holder at the dashboard and set it to speaker while you pulled out of the parking lot. “Maria’s still here, why’d you ask?” Martha asked sweetly. Your smile grew into a more excited one, your plans already playing out in your mind.
“Well you see, I plan to surprise her tonight with her favorite food because I won what probably is my biggest case to date.” Martha gasped and gave you a quick congratulations. “But I still have to buy the things I need. Can you stall her for me? I just need an extra two hours.”
There was a thoughtful pause at the other end of the line. You took your eyes off the road for a split second to check if the call was still ongoing, which it was. “Dear, as romantic as your plan sounds, I don’t think Maria would like being cooped up here for so long,” Martha sighed. “She’s been stressed for the past months, and I don’t think she’s taking your disappearance so well lately, to top off the work she needs to finish today...” Your heart sank at the information. Yes, you were more than aware that you’d been neglecting Maria over the case, more than you’d like, and even if she was understanding enough that you needed to prioritize your slowly rising career, you knew there were unavoidable insecurities that followed her wake.
“I’m going to make it up to her,” you replied, voice steady. “I’m going to smother her with attention for the weeks to come ‘til she gets sick of me.”
Martha laughed heartily at your determination. “So please, can you help me out and give me two hours? I promise It’ll all be worth it,” you pleaded. It didn’t take as long for Martha to answer. “Okay, but I want to see Maria coming to work next Tuesday with an honest smile. I miss seeing her so positive.” You beamed gratefully, even though she couldn’t see it. “You’re giving her a long weekend off?” you asked almost too happily.
“Aside from letting her spend time with her favorite woman, I’m sure she deserves the rest for working so hard the past months.”
“Oh Martha, thank you so much! I owe you a lot.”
Any semblance of formalities melted away. “Oh dear, you know I’m a sucker for romantic gestures! I’ll make sure she tells me everything about your night when she gets back to work,” she teased. You giggled, excitement crawling up your body by the minute. You ended the call and finished your groceries as fast as you could, and by the time you got back to your shared apartment the sun was just starting to set. Perfect, you thought. You had more time than anticipated, but you were sure to utilize every second and got to work.
After a dragging day at work, Maria finally found her way back home. She was stuck in the office for a good two hours past her supposed time out due to Martha’s unexpected request to finish some extra paperwork. She would’ve declined it, but the offer of getting a paid day off in return was too good to miss out that even an extra hour long traffic didn’t stop her. She was far too exhausted, both mental and physical, to think of anything else but to crash into the soft sheets of her bed despite her empty stomach begging to be filled up. When she got to her apartment’s door, however, she couldn’t help but stop and look at it.
She didn’t know that today was the day you’d bring the case to the court one last time for a verdict, so all she expected was to come home to an empty apartment, and despite everything still in the same place it felt more barren the past few months. And yet, as she unlocked the door and flicked the lights on, she was greeted with not only a noticeably cleaner living room but also a delectable smell wafting through her nose. It caused her stomach to growl again, and with the new smell filling the place she dropped her bag and headed to the kitchen.
“You’re home!”
Maria’s eyes popped out at the sight. There you were in your sweatpants and loose shirt, sitting across the table with your hand resting atop your intertwined fingers. A large grin splayed across your face, which grew even wider at the sight of her. The table was set up with two plates, a bottle of wine and whiskey (a strange combo, Maria thought), about three dishes, and a bowl of soup accompanied by a smaller bowl of croutons. The food before her was definitely made presentable, and if Maria wasn’t too occupied gawking (and maybe drooling a little) she would’ve pointed out how your outfit didn’t even match up to the setting.
“We won the case,” you told her, your voice laced with softness and excitement.
Maria had to compose herself just enough to answer. “Really?” she squeaked out. She was happy beyond words, both for your success and you finally being there to greet her home for once and having done this seemingly large dinner after months of surviving on leftovers in the fridge and take-outs. You nodded, watching her expression with a smile, but it quickly dropped when you saw her starting to cry. Alarmed, you got off your seat and pulled her to a tight embrace, to which she eagerly returned, taking in the faint scent of the soap you used for your bath. You planted a long kiss on the crown of her head, and the gesture only seemed to make her cry more.
“Hey, sweetheart, what’s wrong?”
And there she poured everything out. She missed coming home to your arms every night, but ever since the case you were always either gone in the office at work or holed up in the one at home. The thought made her disappointed, and maybe with a twinge of anger and paranoia, but she had to hold it back. She knew how much work meant to you, and she admired how passionate you were for it. She tried her best not to think too much of it, but the fear of you growing cold towards her scared her to no end, admitting that the effects of her past relationship with James was still affecting her.
You didn’t speak the whole time and let Maria vent it out until she reduced into quiet sobs. You kissed her forehead before pulling away from the hug so you could meet her eye to eye. “I know I’ve been so busy, which is why I’m going to make up for it,” you whispered soothingly. You cupped her face and gently wiped the tears away with your thumbs, and you could see a smile slowly grace her lips that made your heart melt. You then peppered her with short, sweet kisses all over her face, which made her giggle and squirm.
“I missed you so much, Y/N.”
“I missed you too, but I’m not going to let you have dinner with such an uncomfortable outfit.”
Maria followed your eyes to her office attire. “I drew you a hot bath just a few minutes ago, with lots of lavender from our mini garden,” you told her softly, pulling her by the waist and kissing her cheek. Gosh, you missed her so much. Maria sighed as you nuzzled your face on the crook of her neck, already imagining the beautiful smell of the bathroom awaiting her. Unfortunately, she had to pull away from the hug so she could actually get there.
After Maria took her time in a relaxing bath and changed to her own comfortable clothes, you two spent the night together, savoring the full course dinner you made with both of your favorite foods and hers, then surprising her with strawberry mousse, her favorite, for dessert. After that, and an empty bottle of wine, you two went to the couch to cuddle and watch a movie together. Though the film on the television was soon forgotten when you kept on showering Maria with kisses and compliments. Even if she asked you to stop since she genuinely wanted to watch the movie, you only replied to her with,
“Nah, I’m going to spoil you the whole weekend, and for the following weeks to come.”
And you did just that. Your attention was all on Maria day and night, and her heart could never feel so full at the sight of you. You took care of her and she took care of you, too. Of course you respected her boundaries and remained gentle with how you held her, but she knew that with you she was safe. Her initial fears of abandonment were soon thrown out the window. Maria trusted you more than ever, and you made sure to show her that she would never regret that choice.
Maria sighed wistfully, stroking your hair as she stared at the wall. The heavy drapes were drawn shut, preventing the moonlight from entering the dark bedroom. You were nestled on her bare chest, sleeping soundly while you had your arms wrapped protectively around her waist. A smile adorned your lips, and Maria took notice of it when she looked down at you.
You were at peace, contrast to the tired and frustrated expression you constantly seemed to wear while you were working the past months. Your breaths were slow and relaxed, making Maria hold a smile of her own as she studied your features. She brought a hand to your face, and you subconsciously leaned against her touch. She caressed your cheek with a thumb, her gaze trailing over to the bags under your eyes. Without your makeup, it looked much worse, but Maria didn’t care. She loved everything about you, even those eyebags that carried all the success you worked for, and she never felt luckier for having such a caring and passionate girlfriend as you.
“Oh Y/N,” Maria sighed for the nth time that night. “I didn’t think love existed until I started loving you.”
You barely stifled your amused chuckle, making Maria jump slightly at the vibration. “I’m glad to be the one to make you realize that,” you murmured, opening your eyes and ignoring the noise of surprise that she made when you let it be known that you were still awake. You shifted so that you could fully look at Maria. It was dark, but you could still make out her wide eyes that slowly softened. Her hand was still pressed to your face, so you put your own on top of it and moved to gently kiss her palm.
“And you deserve every bit of love, sweetheart.”
The way you said it so sincerely just made Maria absolutely melt, even more so when you pulled up to give her a long, tender kiss. Her hands wandered you, fingers trailing the marks she left on your skin before a hand made its way to your bare back while the other tangled on your already messy hair. When you backed away to breathe, you gave Maria one last peck on the lips before lying on her side and pulling her close.
“You know babe, seeing you like this makes me want to look forward to more of your difficult cases.” Maria laughed when you tiredly groaned in annoyance.
“No. If the next one is anything like the last I’m shoving it to either Alexander or Jefferson. I missed you too much.”
all that glitters ∙ overture | angelica schuyler
you didn't expect that going to college, taking classes there, would mean meeting a siren -- let alone one disguised as anything but. yet, when you did, even after you realized, you were more than prepared to throw yourself overboard into raging waters at her song
word count: 1800
warnings: nada in the overture; also this is NOT a siren au it's j a metaphor; second hand embarrassment
a/n: hope y'all like this, im kinda trying smth different atm 👀
{✨}
THUS FAR, YOU had had exactly four interactions with Angelica Schuyler. Half of them were questionable to even have been counted as such.
First off, let's jump right into the list. You bumped into her getting off the shuttle to the east side of campus. Quite literally. Classes didn't start for a week, you were just moving into your dorm, you didn't know anyone, and the last thing you needed was to be on bad terms with someone before you knew them. You looked up to see the person who your shoulder had just hit, and you froze. That was the day she first caught your attention. Dark, curly hair, a strong, sharp jaw, dimples so deep they adorned her cheeks despite her frown, and high cheekbones. You were slightly mesmerized, if only for a moment, before she cleared her throat, walking past you onto the bus. You mumbled a "sorry" as she passed, she said nothing, and that was that. Luckily for you, campus was big, and you were small, so the odds of having to worry about her were slim.
Less than a week later, your phone buzzed as you were tacking up a tapestry to the wall of your dorm. Not bothering to pause your shuffled combination of soft indie pop, hard rap, and show tunes, you turned on your screen and tapped on your first notification.
Angelica Schuyler (@angelischuy) has requested to follow you.
You frowned. You didn't recognize the name, so you clicked over to her profile, and the first thing to catch your eye was not her profile picture or any pictures succeeding it, but her bio, reading 'Columbia '21'. With the understanding that this was apparently someone who went to school with you as of now, you clicked to her recent, trying to see if you knew the girl.
You inhaled sharply.
The warm brown eyes and soft contour of her cheeks had you recognizing her instantly, despite the fact that you had seen her face only for a split second before. You put your phone down with hands that shook little enough for you to ignore it, and you went back to your task. After that, though, you couldn't ignore the nagging question at the back of your mind: Did she only follow you simply because of your school, or, by some divine intervention, was this girl following you because she happened to recognize you, too?
So that brings us to the first two interactions, in which no words were even exchanged. The third, though, was of a nature ever-so-slightly different. A week and a day after that first interaction marked the first day of classes, and Angelica was in your international human rights law seminar.
It, unfortunately, turned out to be your 8 AM, but as a particular semi-familiar face slid into the seat next to you at the back of the room, bright-eyed and smelling like coffee, you found yourself less able to complain about being there when you were. All she offered you at the beginning of the class was a tight-lipped smile and a nod (you had yet to understand how rare her smiles were, forced or otherwise), and you proceeded like that for the next three classes. The interaction came at the end of the third class when the professor dismissed you all, and she turned to you with a small frown.
"Hey, Y/N, do you know what Professor Von Steuben was saying about the video he had linked on legal qualifications of genocide?" Her dark brow was tightly knit, and you again found yourself frozen. She knew your name. "Like, I get that's what we have to watch to prepare for next class and all, but how did he say we were supposed to access it?"
"Oh! Uh, I don't know." Why did you say that? You did know; you could've just told her. You blinked stupidly. "Sorry."
She just dismissed it with a frown and a hum of acknowledgment as she slid her books back into her back and stood up to leave. You were internally screaming, your gaze fixed on your desk, waiting until she was out of the room to move.
And finally, four.
Four weeks in, as a matter of fact. Four was arguably the worst one; the greater the attempt at interaction the more it seemed to screw you over. Four was the one that left you anxious and overanalyzing, left you considering direct messaging her to apologize for how damn awkward you were.
The day proceeded the same as any other. You showed up half asleep, Angelica found the seat next to yours minutes before the lecture began, and that was that. You took notes on your laptop; she scrawled them in messy script across the pages of her notebook. Ten minutes left, and you were set up to leave class unscathed. Seven minutes had you drumming your fingers on the trackpad of your laptop. Five had you bouncing your knee restlessly, but it was four that really body checked you directly into the brick wall on thr side of a dank alleyway. Four minutes left; four minutes to ruin your self-confidence.
"Now, I have a handout for you," your professor said as she walked across the front of the lecture hall. "An exercise in thought. Due to the nature of this, I want all work, opinions, ideas, etcetera written on the physical paper for this assignment. No laptops will be permitted."
You did your best not to contribute to the collective groan that rippled through the room as you closed your laptop, following suit of many of your classmates.
"Don't sound so excited," Mrs. Knox commented dryly. "I am not going to have you spend the next--" She lifted her wrist, briefly eyeing her watch. "--four minutes completing this, but it will be your only homework between now and the next time we meet."
And then, a quiet murmur of conversation picked back up throughout the lecture hall, people passing papers back, talking about them, packing up to finally get out of there. You let out a short huff at the instructions as the papers reached the far end of your row, making it closer to you. You'd always had a tendency to lose any paper that came into your possession, so you weren't sure this would be a fun time. You pulled your bag into your lap and began stuffing everything but one folder in -- just so you wouldn't lose this this time.
When everything was in, you glanced up to check on the status of the handout, just to see that the pile had reached the row behind you, seemingly having passed right over you, and you glanced at Angelica to your right. She had the back of a pen between her teeth, her expression as nonchalany as ever as she leafed through the stapled papers.
You almost groaned; the packet seemed to have passed you -- but that was when you noticed an extra copy sitting on the desk in front of you, just offset from Angelica's notebook. Had she grabbed one of them for you?
A soft, slightly lopsided smile came to your lips, and you turned to her with slight hesitation.
"Hey, uh, can I get one of those?" you asked, motioning to the papers in front of her with as nonchalantly friendly of an expression as you could pull (you were sure it came off as stiffly as you felt, though).
She stared at you for a moment, blinked, the pen still between her teeth. "No."
FUCK, holy SHIT, what did I do this time, am I really this fucking stupid, oh my GOD, Y/N, what the FUCK are you thinking, oh my god, dumb bitch you really did it this time--
Wait. Somehow, somewhere, in the midst of your panic, you'd managed to take a social cue from that. She was being sarcastic. God, she was actually making something of a joke with you. It was written more clearly than your dumb ass could see, in her smiling eyes and raised brow and at the amused ghost of a grin playing at the very corners of her lips. Maybe you weren't hopeless after all.
OH but GOD, how do I RESPOND to this?? With more sarcasm? What the fuck, I shouldn't have tried to interact. I should've just taken a 0 on the assignment. It's not fine, FUCK--
As her eyebrows rose slightly more, almost as a challenge, you realized you'd been staring at her for a moment too long.
"Thanks, really appreciate it," you replied, trying to match her sarcasm -- but coming off way more dry and annoyed and cold than intended. Fuck, why did pretty girls have to have this effect on you?
She looked at you for a moment longer, before averting her attention back to the paper in her hand. But she did so passing you the extra paper in the process.
You took it wordlessly from her outstretched hand, glancing at her expression warily. She didn't seem to care what was happening with you any longer -- she'd made whatever assessment she was going to make, and you just wanted to get the hell out of there. You tucked the paper into your (only) folder before tossing your backpack onto your shoulder and turning to leave.
You could only think of one thing on the way out though, and it wasn't your plans for the rest of the day, and it wasn't how interesting the lecture had been, and it wasn't the weather, or the question of where your friends were, or what was being served for lunch in the closest dining hall.
I think you can guess what it was.
Because, FUCK, you couldn't believe how oblivious you were sometimes. Had you come off as a total bitch? Was that just how she reacted to people? Had your response to sarcasm not seemed like a joke? Was she going to hate you for the rest of her life now?
Only a small corner of your reasonable mind was there to stop you from DMing her in an anxious panic to explain that you really weren't a mean person.
You didn't stop thinking about it for the rest of your night.
So there they were. The four horsemen of your particular apocalypse, the dramatic build-up to an arguably more dramatic disappointment.
They didn't sound quite as bad as they felt.
But regardless, these were the facts of the case, and this was the only existing premise for the events that were then set to transpire, that were perhaps already even put into motion by some higher power behind the scenes.
You didn't know it yet, but those four events would spiral into something much bigger for you. Don't put them out of your mind yet, because sooner than you realize, you won't be able to.
Maria Reynolds and Reader: Help
A/n: This is my first time writing Maria, so forgive me if I got her personality wrong. Since it says and Reader it means it is a platonic relationship.
Timeline: Modern
Warnings: Swearing, cheating
Words: 1,272
     When it happened Maria was the first person I went to. She had gone through her share of things like this so I thought she would be the best person to comfort me. On top of that she was my best friend so I thought she’d be even more capable of comforting me through this hard time. I wasn’t wrong.
     You see what happened was first thing this morning when I entered my apartment I was met with an unpleasant and unwelcome surprise. I had spent the night at the Schuylers so I was excited to come home and tell my boyfriend about my night out with the sisters. He, unlike my past boyfriends, liked to listen to me talk on and on about my night. What I as met with upon walking into my room was another woman, another naked woman, on top of him in our bed.
     I was so shocked that I couldn’t say a thing, I just turned around and walked out. My boyfriend, now ex boyfriend, had called out after me like some cliche romance story. He even chased after me to the front door, half hopping so he could pull on his boxers. As my hand touched the door knob he grabbed it, making me turn around to face him.
     “Was I not enough?” I asked, not looking up at his face. I didn’t dare look up, if I did he would see my tears and I didn’t want him to think me of me as a crybaby. ‘W-What?” He asked, I guess I hadn’t spoken loudly enough. “I said, was I not enough? Was I not good enough for you because I didn’t want to have sex with you? Was I not good enough because I wanted to save sex for after marriage?” I seethed, still not looking up.
      “No, that’s not it.” He whispered, placing his hands gently on my arms. “Then what was it?” I questioned him. He didn’t reply he just started soothingly rubbing my arms. At least it would have been soothing if he hadn’t just cheated on me. “Did you do it because you hate me? Is that why you were fucking her so early in the day, around the time I would be returning? Or did you do it to not only to hurt me but to spite me because I didn’t want to have sex with you? I think that was the reason.” I said, hot angry tears rolling down my cheeks.
     “No, Babe, I love you. It was a mistake.” He said, continuing to rub my arms. I grit my teeth in anger. “Don’t call me that! You’re just like every other male! A horny son of a bitch that only cares about pleasuring himself and not anything else!” I screeched, slapping his hands off of me.
     In the corner of my eye I saw the woman standing in the doorway to the kitchen, covering herself with the bed sheets, she actually looked sorry. I don’t know whether she was sorry for what she did, probably not, or she just felt sorry for herself because they got caught. I glared at her and she immediately looked at her feet. “When I get back here you, your stuff, and your stupid bitch better be gone!” I growled, finally glaring up at the man I had sadly fallen in love with. Well, not anymore. He looked down at me, the look in his eyes almost replicating fear, and nodded his head quickly.
     After that I turned around and stormed out of my apartment. I, surprisingly, didn’t regret a single word I said. Normally after I cuss and yell at someone like that I start regretting it, but not this time. This time I actually feel good about it. As I exited my apartment building I took out my phone while going to the car garage I park my car in. Unlocking my phone, I went into my texting app and Maria’s contact. ‘I’m coming over, I hope you don’t mind. I really need someone like you right now though. My stupid boyfriend, now my ex, cheated on me and I’m going to need some comfort.’ I texted, finishing up and sending it as I made it to my car.
     I may only feel anger right now but by time I make it out of the city and to where Maria lives in Syracuse I’m going to be ready to ball my eyes out. It’s about a four hour drive from New York City to Syracuse, so I guess I’m going to at least spend the night at her place maybe even a few days. As I got in the car and turned it on Maria replied to my text. Opening up the app again I read her response. ‘Oh Sweetie, that’s terrible! Don’t worry I’ll have plenty of ice cream and movies to watch ready for when you arrive! I’ll also make sure to save up plenty of hugs and forehead kisses for you!’
     And she did, the moment I arrived she brought me into a big, warm, and tight hug. When she pulled away she kissed my forehead, the same way she did when we were kids and I was upset, some of her red lipstick probably rubbing off on my forehead. Maria then ushered me into the living room and onto the couch. She set up the first movie out of, like, twenty and then got the two tubs of ice cream and two spoons. She gave me first choice on the ice cream tubs and then we watched the movie, sometimes pausing it so I could whine and cry about how unfair everything was.
     “That was a roller coaster of emotions and I don’t want to experience it again.” I said as the ending credits rolled in on the screen. It was almost midnight and we were just finishing up watching Titanic. When Maria heard I had never watched it she practically had a hernia, I hadn’t seen why it was a big deal. She let out a laugh saying that she knew I’d say something like that. I laughed a little before shoveling a big spoonful of mint chocolate ice cream into my mouth. I was halfway through my second tub of ice cream and even though I knew it wasn’t good for me and that I’m going to get sick I didn’t care.
     “Okay, do you want to watch another movie, talk, or maybe go to bed?” Maria asked, getting up and removing the disc from the player and returning it to its proper case. “Go to bed.” I said through the ice cream, snapping the lid on the tub. “Okay then, I’ll go get an extra toothbrush for you and get the guest bed ready for you.” She said, walking out of the room.
     “Maria?” I called out, not letting her get far. “Yes?” She asked, peeking back into the room. “Can I just sleep with you tonight? Kind of like we used to as kids when I was scared.” I said, fidgeting with the tub in my hands. Maria smiled at me lightly. “Sure you can, Sweetie.”
      When we both were under the covers I curled up into my long time friend, she was almost like an older sister to me. Gripping her shirt, I rested my head on her shoulder. “Thank you Maria, for everything you do for me.” I whispered. “Of course, I’d do anything for you, Bunny.” She whispered, running a hand through my hair. I smiled at the childhood nickname and slowly drifted into the land of dreams.
Two Voices Are Better Than One
Ch.3.1
John Laurens x Black!Reader
Warnings:
Swearing/cursing
Underage drinking (the legal drinking age here is 18 but this is set in the U.S sooo...)
Making out (?)
Jealousy
And of course, my terrible writing.
A.N: I had to split this into 2 parts because it would've been way too long. The links are just for the outfits, not face claims. But anyway, enjoy❤️
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Lee, pass it to Laurens!" their coach yelled. Lee on the other hand didn't listen and continued down the court which resulted in a steal from the other team. "Great job Monroe," the coach commented. "Lee, take a lap," he added. John managed to get the ball back and went hard on the offense with the help of his other teammates. "Yes Laurens! Let's go!" the coach yelled as John scored his 5th three pointer in the same practice match. Despite all of coach Franklin's praises, John felt like he wasn't playing his best. His week was rather eventful. Getting on the basketball team was not one of the highlights. The walks to French and lunch breaks with you (and everybody else) were what made his week. Oh and seeing you run around sweaty in your sports bra and basketball shorts during the girls' freshman try-outs on Wednesday. It was the end of the day and he couldn't wait to see you (even though you two hung out alone that day) at your party.
Practice had just ended and just as he was leaving the gym, someone grabbed him by the shoulder and spun him around. The person who did it? Charles Lee. The kid hated John's guts for some reason and always shot him a death stare when he was with you.
"Can I help you?" John asked while folding his arms. "Yeah actually you can. By staying away from Y/N," Lee snarled. "Yeah, not happening," John chuckled dryly. He turned to walk away but was yanked again by his t-shirt this time. "I'm serious kid. If I ever see you with her again," Lee seethed keeping his hand on John's chest so he wouldn't move. John swatted Lee's hand from his chest and stepped closer to the teen. "First of all, if you ever touch me again, I will break your hand off and shove it up so far up your ass that you'll be coughing up fingernails for a week," John warned as he aggressively poked Lee in the chest. "Second of all, I will hang out with Y/N as much as I want, and there's not a damn thing you're gonna do about it. Now get the hell out of my way, I gotta take a shower," he said before shoving past Lee and walking away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I swear, I wanted to knock him out right then and there," John sighed in frustration while Alexander put his jacket on. "You should've. That little prick deserves it," Alex hissed. John nodded in agreement and took a sip of his water. "What's his deal with her anyway?" John asked. Alex remained silent and grabbed his phone, wallet and car keys. "Mom, I'm out. I'm going to Y/N's house," Alexander called. "Don't come back too late honey. I love you! Bye!" she called out from upstairs. "I love you too," he replied as he and John headed out to his car. "So, we're taking our own cars because, one of us might wanna leave earlier than the other so I'm avoiding inconvenience," Alex explained. "What if you're drunk when you have to leave?" John asked him. "Eliza doesn't drink and she'll be one of the last people to leave," Alexander replied. "What if Eliza happens to sleep over?" Alexander thought about it all for a minute before letting out a defeated sigh. "Fine, we'll go together," he grumbled. During the drive to Herc's house, John remembered something.
"You know you never did answer my question."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You had just taken a shower and washed your hair before finally getting dressed. "Y/N," a voice called. "I'm coming," she responded as she made her way downstairs. "Everything for your party has been set up. The food and drinks have all been stationed in the bar. We cleared the liquor cabinet though because you're all only 18 and we don't need the parents on our cases. Which reminds me, there are about 8 boxes of which I don't wanna know the contents of because I want deniability. When the party's over please clean up and make sure to make a list of everything that breaks so I can replace it. Nobody comes into the house. George and I will back Sunday night so you have the house to yourself all weekend but I do expect you to at least spend at least 15 hours of this weekend studying, understood young lady. And I put all the hangover remedies in your medicine cabinet," your mom said before giving you a bear hug.
Just then your stepdad made his way down the stairs with a bunch of suitcases. "Well won't this be quite the turnout," he laughed. "The instruments have been set up in front the entertainment area while the DJ has been stationed at the back of the room," your stepdad adds.
"Anyway we love you kiddo, don't forget to study and no one gets in the house except for the Schuyler sisters, Theodosia, Maria, Alexander, Aaron, Gilbert, Hercules and that new kid John since you've taken quite the liking in him. See you on Sunday," he said before kissing your forehead. "Dad, I don't like him!" you yelled behind them. As they left the house, Angelica walked in. "Hey Mr Washington. Hey Mrs Washington," she said respectfully. "Angelica, since when are you formal? You always call us Martha and George," Martha chuckled. "I just thought it would be appropriate seeing as how a bunch of teenagers are going to wreck your entertainment area and break some of your stuff," Angelica shrugged. Martha took a deep breath and laughed it off while George sent a playful glare towards you and Angelica. Y'all smiled apologetically.
The couple said their goodbyes to the teens and left off to the couple's resort they booked for the weekend.
"Alright so Eliza, Peggy and Maria are on their way. Theodosia's still outside on the phone with Aaron but she'll be in shortly. We all set?" Angelica inquired. "All set," you confirmed. You were genuinely excited for this. Yeah sure you had been throwing these since you were a sophomore but this time it was different. This was the last time you'd get to this with your Washington high family. Oh and there's the freckled beauty named John Laurens but that's besides the point. "Then let's set it off," Angelica announced enthusiastically.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time the boys arrived the party was already in full swing. A bunch of kids from freshmen to seniors, dancing and enjoying themselves. They made their way to the bar where the girls were hanging out with the football players. "I'm serious Y/N. If I put my mind and voice to it, I could sing circles around you," Jefferson joked as he took another swig of his drink. "As if," Herc chuckled as he took a seat between you and Angelica. "Yeah, fat chance Jefferson," Hamilton snarked sitting next to Eliza. "I'll have you guys know, I have the voice of an angel," Thomas claimed. "Prove it then," John challenged from his spot on your left. "Yeah Thomas. We were actually about to get the karaoke started, how about you lead us in?" Peggy said with a smirk. "Sure. Get ready to be blown away," Thomas laughed. "Theo, would you please do the honours," you said. Theodosia grabbed a mic and ran up to the little stage in front. "Alright alright!" John finally managed to get your attention by tapping you on the shoulder.
"You look beautiful." He was being honest. The way your outfit fit you, the way your hair was styled, the way your amazing chestnut skin glowed in the dark. Even in a slightly tipsy state, you were a sight to behold. "Why thank you. You don't look to bad yourself," you chuckled. "Want a drink?" you offered as you moved around to the drinks. "Yeah, its been a long week." "Oh please, it was your first week," you said rolling your eyes. "Hey, you try going to that many classes without you in them," he defended. You laughed softly. He could listen to you laugh all day, everyday. "Yeah you're right. I'm pretty hard to live without," you chuckled while fixing his drink. You handed him the glass and moved to sit next to him as the music began to play. Thomas's voice glided through the room in harmony with the instrumental of Lady Lady. "She got me wondering if I should make her my lady," Thomas sang. "Holy shit, he's actually good," you chuckled.
While Thomas serenaded the ladies in the room, John couldn't help but relate to the lyrics a little while he watched you smiling and singing along. Sure you guys didn't know much about each other. Sure sometimes there's the occasional rant about how crappy Mr Adams is but other than that, all you guys did was flirt relentlessly.
Thomas's performance was met with cheers and a huge round of applause from everyone. He sauntered back to the group with smirk plastered on his face. "That was pretty great Jefferson. One problem though," you said. "What?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. "I'm still better than you," you chuckled. "Well then get up there little miss thing," James challenged. "With pleasure," you chirped as you got up. John laughed in amusement as you ran up to the DJ and whispered something to him before grabbing the mic.
The instrumental of Take a byte filled the room accompanied by loud cheers and clapping. "I'm not the kind of girl you take him to your momma now. I tell you no lies," you sang as you danced with a senior from the football team. John was jealous. Period. There was no other way to put it. He watched in envy and slight bitterness while you danced sensually with a bunch of other seniors, male and female. Touching them and grinding on them. He hadn't even noticed that Angelica and Theodosia had gotten mics of their own and were singing back up. "Just take a bite." She danced with Theo and Angie as they sang. They were having the time of their lives. Even though she wasn't dancing with the other seniors anymore, he still couldn't get the image out of his head. Until she began to strut towards him. "Well I'll just lick an angel just to purify again. Ooh, angels are fun." At this point she was straddling him, eyes hooded and clouded by lust. "Yeah make love till we're numb," she sang softly in his ear before swiftly getting off him, leaving him hot and bothered. He let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding and tried to regain composure. John was sure that she knew what she had just done. He knew he had to get her back, he just didn't know how. "Ooh. You look so good just help yourself," she sang softly from where she stood in between Theodosia and Angelica, shooting a mischievous wink at him. At the end of her performance she ran back to him dawning devilish smirk.
"That stunt you pulled was adorable," John whispered into her ear. "But also dangerous on your part," he added in a low tone. "You can do something about it. If...you get up there and give us a little something," you suggested playfully. "No," he deadpanned. You pouted and got on your tippy toes. For some reason, this drove him crazy. "Think about it. All you have to do is get up there and sing, even if you can't. As long as you grab that mic and sing, you can get an all access pass," you whispered sensually. "To what," he asked gruffly. "Whatever you want Mr Laurens," you giggled.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You watched his hazel eyes darken at your suggestion. You knew damn well what you were doing. Sure you were a little buzzed, but your mind was still pretty sharp. You had met this guy on Monday and yet you already wanted him between your sheets. He was the most beautiful man you had ever seen and you weren't about to let him slip. You knew he wanted this too. If the flirtatious exchanges throughout the week weren't a sign, then the boner you left him with and his shallow breaths when you whispered into his ear were enough.
"Fine. After this kid," he sighed. You smirked in triumph and turned your attention to Maria. "He's gonna do it," you giggled. She and Peggy laughed at your antics before turning their attention back to whatever they were talking about. "By the way. I'm not gonna make this easy for you," he growled into your ear. Your eyes widened as you pondered on what he meant. Before you could ask, he had already made his way to the stage. As the song started, a wave of realization hit you. "He wouldn't," Angelica whispered in disbelief. "That brave son a bitch," Thomas gasped. "It can't be-," you were cut off by his soft voice. "Ooh, I got a body full of liquor with a cocaine kicker and I'm feeling like I'm thirty feet tall," he sang. The song? Gorilla by Bruno Mars. You thought back to Wednesday when you told him about how this song could get you wet in an instant. "This guy," Hercules chuckled. "Look what you're doing, look what you've do-o-one. But in this jungle you can't run. Cause what I got for you. I promise its a killer. You'll be banging on my chest. BANG BANG. Gorilla." You watched the girls in front hold themselves back from throwing themselves at him. You watched as they behaved like crazed fans as he unbuttoned his shirt and revealed his toned upper body.
"Yeah, I got a fist full of your hair but you don't like you're scared. You just smile and tell me Daddy its yours." Y'all gazed intensely at each other while he sang that part. You could feel your panties getting drenched, and your knees getting week just from noticing how his large hand gripped around the microphone. "And you're screaming. "Give it to me baby, give it to me motherfucker!"" Your thighs instinctively rubbed together to create the slightest friction. You couldn't tear you eyes away from him and he tugged on his hair when he sang that part. You hadn't noticed James and Hercules's worried looks as you struggled to keep yourself together. You almost lost your mind when he simply smirked and winked at a girl from the basketball team. A junior.
You were jealous as hell and you wouldn't even try to deny it. You wanted to grab him by the collar and... "I bet you've never ever felt so good, so good. I've got your body trembling like it should, it should." He made his way towards you while singing. With every step he took forward, you took a step back. This continued until he had you against a wall. He used his free hand to hoist you up against him by your thighs. "You'll never be the same baby once I'm done with you-ou-ou-ou-ou."
You watched as his hungry hazel eyes drank up your appearance, in a less innocent manner than earlier on that night. His free hand grabbed the back of your neck. Angling it so he could consume as much of you as he could. He attacked your exposed skin hungrily, sucking and bitng as much as he could. Not caring about everyone else in the room. Neither of you had even noticed how he dropped the mic. You were far too deep in whatever the hell this was. A soft moan escaped your parted lips when he nibbled on your earlobe. You felt him smirk against your skin as he continued. He tore away from your neck and gazed into your cloudy chocolate irises. Your thought process? "This could go one of two ways. We could go to the house and I could let him fuck me senseless until I'm unable to walk. Or we could stay. I tease him until the end of the party and then get fucked senseless until I'm unable to move or think straight. The second one works for me."
You had a game plan. And you were going to make it work.
"How about we finish this later."

“I think…..I think when it’s all over it just comes back in flashes, you know?”
You were walking through the subway to get to the sidewalk when the soft chords of a ukulele and soft singing floated towards your ears. You stood and watched the couple; a blue haired, acne spotted guy with a beanie and glasses strumming on the uke sitting next to a ginger-haired girl, who also had acne spotted on her forehead and was wearing glasses. Her hair was pulled into a messy bun on the top of her head as she harmonized with the guy sitting next to her. When their song finished, they shared a quick kiss before people who were watching, like you, had placed money in their little uke case. The uke player said thanks as the ginger hid behind her boyfriend. You smiled as you walked away after placing some money in the case.
You saw people...drenched people...racing into the subway and stopped in your tracks, groaning. You had forgotten your umbrella. Great. You sighed, ready to speed walk through the crowded sidewalk, getting drenched, to get to this small cafe. Or you just go back home. But your coffee machine broke and you really, really needed some coffee. And Think Coffee’s coffee is your favorite, despite being a while away from your apartment. You walked towards the steps once again and just before stepping into the rain, take a deep breath. And that’s when you heard someone jogging over to you. He came from your left, you saw him on his phone earlier. He had his brown, curly hair pulled back into a ponytail. He had hazel eyes with a spark...a spark of something you couldn’t put your finger one. His face had a bunch of cute freckles dotted all over. He smiled at you.
“Where you headin’? I can share my umbrella with you. I noticed you don’t have one out already..” He told you. Well, he was really cute.
“Oh, that’s really kind. Thank you so much,” You offered him a huge smile. “I’m heading up to Think Coffee…” His smile got bigger.
“I was just heading there.” You two shared a laugh before heading out into the rain.
You ended up sitting together, talking, learning more and more about each other. You fell more and more in love with this man, which you learned his name was John Laurens. He declared that you would be his new friend and you laughed, nodding. You exchanged numbers as the rain stopped and decided to hurry home while the rain held up.
As you walked through the doorway of the cafe, you smiled to yourself.
‘Today I fell in love...and it feels fucking fantastic.’
You told John you had to get going so you could meet your other friend for lunch. You were about to touch the doorknob when you felt his hand wrap around your wrist. You turned to face him and his hands cupped your face, and his lips touched yours roughly. And you instantly kissed back.
When he pulled away, he grinned.
“Damn.” He went in for another kiss but you pushed him away slightly.
“Fuck you, you’re gonna make me late, John.” He didn’t care….he never did.
He chuckled lightly before stepping back, looking at his feet. John looked up at you after a moment and gestured to the door, silently. You nodded at him, your eyes filled with curiosity before leaving his apartment. After you closed the door, you were about to head out. But you opened the door again, and John’s grin came back before his lips were attached to yours again.
“That was a fast lunch, Y/N.”
“Oh, shut up.”
“It’s like a kaleidoscope of memories….it just all comes back.”
You set down a box in the kitchen and felt a pair of warm arms snake around you. John planted a kiss on your shoulder and rested his head there.
“Hi, I’m John. I’m in love with you.” He murmured. You spun around and softly pressed your lips against his. When you pulled away, he rested his forehead against yours.
“I love you so much, John.” He smiled and you felt his hand gently stroke your cheek.
“I love you more.” You were about to debate with him on that, but Eliza, a new friend of yours, groaned after entering the room.
“Guys, enough! It’s your apartment, help out a bit, will ya?” She still smiled at the sight of you two as she set down a box, gently. And then the rest of John’s crew, dubbed as the ‘Hamilsquad’, came in. Alex, Eliza’s fiancé and John’s best friend, was carrying two boxes. Lafayette, the kind Frenchman, was carrying three. And finally, Hercules, the tailor and Mario Kart champion of the week, was carrying four boxes. You tried not to cringe, awaiting a mess to arrive with those men and boxes. John squeezed your shoulder, trying to reassure you.
Luckily, the boxes were set down cautiously...after Angelica and Peggy, Eliza’s trusting sisters, came and yelled at the boys.
Everyone filed out to get more boxes, with Peggy and Laff bringing up the back of the group with you and John happily kissing beside John’s truck.
Peggy turned to the Frenchman, shaking her head.
“God, they’re so in love.”
You were hurrying back with Eliza from the park you two walked to. It was sprinkling and you both checked the weather on your phones to find that the sprinkles weren’t going to be the only thing in this bowl of ice cream. The thunderstorm approaching was gonna be the chocolate syrup and cherry on top.
You were both giggling as you jogged to your apartment building where the guys were hanging out. It started raining harder which insured more giggles and soaking wet clothes.
Meanwhile, back at the apartment, Laff noticed the rain.
“It’s raining.” He commented. John looked over at the window, then back at the screen where Alexander and Hercules were playing Wii Sports baseball against each other. And a second later, back at the window. His eyes widened.
“I hope Y/N is okay-”
“AND ELIZA!!” Alex interrupted his freckled friend, not looking from the screen.
So they paused the game and went down to the first floor of the building as quick as possible. Hercules saw them down the road first and pointed to them.
“Look! There they are!” It was like in the movies where everything was in slow motion for John at that moment. He looked over to where Herc pointed and saw you (and Eliza), soaking wet, laughing, running to the building. He thought you were the prettiest sight in the world.
Next thing Alex, Hercules, and Laff know, John is out the doors and racing towards you as you and Eliza grew near. He lifted you up once he got to you, making you laugh even more. When he put you down, his lips were instantly connected to yours. Thunder boomed from around you. You pulled away.
“I was worried about you, babe.” He complained, sticking his bottom lip out in a pout. You rolled your eyes, smiling.
“Come on, losers! I need to finish my baseball game!” Alex called out.
“Race ya!” You told your boyfriend before bolting towards the building.
“But he never does…”
“Seriously?! Why can’t you go on one date with me?! With just me?!”
“Fuck off, Y/N! Why can’t you left me the fuck alone?!”
“I can’t even remember the last date with just you and me was, John! Oh, maybe, like our fourth date ever?!”
“Oh my fucking god! Can’t you see that I don’t give a damn about stupid dates?!”
“OBVIOUSLY.”
“THEN FUCK OFF.” You’d be lying if you’d said this was the first argument you two have ever had. It was actually one of the calmest arguments in your rocky relationship. But it was the first time he pulled off something you’d never forget.
Tears were threatening to spill out of your eyes.
“JOHN, WHY DON'T YOU EVER LET ME TALK TO YOU?” He got up off the couch.
“You know what? FUCK YOU.” And with that he left the apartment, slamming the door behind him. You were stuck in shock. The tears were falling from your eyes and you couldn’t stop them.
It was the first time he’d actually left the apartment. You heard his truck leave the parking lot a few moments later. You sunk to the ground beside the couch.
‘I drove him away….I’m such an asshole…’
He drove to the cafe where you had gotten to know each other. It was empty, besides him and the workers. He ordered your favorite drink.
He knew he made a mistake of leaving you. He just needed time to cool off and think about things.
‘She probably thinks she drove me away…..I’m such an asshole.’
“I think a part of me knew the second I saw him that this would happen.”
You sat in John’s lap, watching the city through the window. The city lights shined through the dark night. John believed that your eyes were brighter than those lights. Brighter than the stars up above that was dimmed by the damn light pollution. Where he grew up, he sat and watched the bright stars twinkle through the night as a breeze floated past.
Your smile faded as you looked above, wishing the stars were brighter.
John’s phone rang in the background. It was probably Alex. John didn’t care. You glanced back at him, watching for him to tell you to get up. But he didn’t. He smiled.
You kissed his lips softly and he peppered your face with kisses, making you laugh.
He loved your laugh so fucking much. It was one the loveliest things he’d ever heard in his life.
‘Goddamn, I love this girl so much.’
“It’s not really anything he said or anything he did.”
“STTTRRRIIIKKEEE!” Alex said in his umpire voice.
“Ham, this is bowling, not baseball.” You commented as John sat back down in his seat after getting that strike.
“Y/N, I can do whatever I want, I’m a grownup.” He was such a dork. He picked up his bowling ball and tossed the ball down the lane, which just before being able to hit any pins, fell into the gutter and he groaned.
You leaned over to John and whispered, “Maybe Eliza should’ve gotten the bumpers for him.” And John snorted before pulling you towards him into a hug.
Peggy wanted to go to an arcade before you all went out to dinner, so you convinced everyone to go for her. While Hercules and Laff were trying to help Peggy get a cute plushie from the claw machine, Alexander went to the Wheel Of Fortune game with Eliza. You went to the Dance Dance Revolution. John stood against the wall, watching as Angelica joined you. He smiled as you held your beanie onto your head as you moved your feet in sync with Angelica’s.
“You really do love her, Jack. I can tell.” Alex’s voice rang out as Eliza ran to the ticket counter with a handful of tickets.
“I do, Alex,” He looked over at his best friend. “I love her so much.”
Alexander chuckled at his smitten friend. John looked back over at you as you laughed.
“You should ask her soon.”
“I already bought the ring.” Then, a new voice joined the duo.
“You should propose at the gazebo where we took our senior prom photos.” It was Eliza.
“Rose petals, candles. I’ve planned it out already.” John responded. Alex wrapped an arm around his wife, smiling.
You walked through the airport, waiting for him to appear into view. He couldn’t come to your hometown with you on this vacation because Washington, his boss, wasn’t going to let him have another vacation since John took you to meet his family in South Carolina two weeks before.
You missed him for the entirety of the week that you were gone. You wanted to get back to finish the wedding planning. You wanted to see his face again.
John was practically running to the spot where you said you’d be. He had been setting up the welcome home party and lost track of the time. He needed an excuse. Nothing came to his mind as he raced, trying to beat you to the spot.
Luckily for him, you weren’t there yet. He stood there, trying to come up with something. He looked up from his shoes and saw you scanning the crowd. He reached up and waved. He caught your eye. You paused, a smile creeping up your face before you maneuvered through the groups of people to him. You dropped your bags at your feet and hugged him as tight as ever, taking in his scent.
“I missed you so much.” He reminded you. You two shared a kiss and he took you to the apartment. You opened the door and were greeted by your friends, streamers, balloons, a banner, there was even a cake. Hugs were given, cake slices eaten, laughs shared, memories made.
“It...was the feeling that came along with it…”
You watched with Eliza, as the guys, Angelica, and Peggy moved furniture and boxes into the moving truck.
“You see, Alex and I moved into a house before pregnancy.” She teased.
“Mmmm,” You replied. “Good for you, then.”
It was different then. You were eight months pregnant, Eliza at nine months. You and John weren’t fighting as much. Everything was looking up.
John felt a splash of water hit his back. There was laughter from behind him.
“Guys, I’m trying to get stuff into the truck.” He complained, turning around to face his friends.
You and Eliza were giggling in the shade as Peggy hit Hercules and Alexander with more water balloons from behind a tree.
You laughed even more, and Eliza was on the verge of peeing her pants since she was laughing so hard.
Lafayette laughed as he jumped off the truck when he was hit by a balloon.
“Nope, I am not getting wet.” Angelica ran to cover.
“Look out!” Eliza giggled. You glanced at her through your aviator sunglasses. She grinned, making you do so as well.
As the sky remained clear up above, water rained from the air as they all scrambled to Peggy and her water balloons to make a water balloon battle.
It was a good day, to say the least.
“And...crazy thing is,...I don’t know if I’m ever gonna feel that way again…”
You watched as your eight-year-old daughter, six-year-old son, and eight-year-old Philip Hamilton dance around together in the living room. You glanced at your one-year-old daughter in the playpen, who was jumping up and down, wanting to join in. You smiled and John opened the door from the garage in the kitchen, carrying grocery bags.
“Hi, daddy!”
“Hi!”
“Hey, kiddos.” You reached over and picked up the pacifier from the ground from where you were on the couch. You got up and went into the kitchen to the sink.
“Hi, babe,” John greeted as he put a pack of push pops into the freezer. You hummed in response as you washed off the pacifier. “You’re still mad at me, Y/N?”
“Not now, John. We’ll talk later,” He searched your eyes. “I promise.”
He watched as you left the kitchen. He sighed and put the groceries away and listened to the laughter of the kids. Every so often there’d be a giggle from you or a soft comment to the baby. He wished you weren’t mad at him, but he did start the argument earlier, as per usual. It was about something stupid, like always. He regretted it. He regretted every time he upset you. He regrets everything, even now. Ever since the first two kids were born, you guys were back to fighting. Not as much as you used to, but there were still arguments. And instead of leaving the house like he did back at the apartment, he stayed up and watch tv until he was sure you were asleep and then climbed into bed next to you.
When the groceries were all put away, John leaned against the wall of the entrance to the kitchen, watching as you slid gracefully across the wooden floor, imitating an ice skater. Philip took your eldest daughter’s hand and they “ice skated” together and your son just hugged tight into his toy Cookie Monster.
You turned and saw your husband standing there, watching the kids and decided to stop. You took the baby from the playpen and sat down with her on the floor.
“Mooomm! Can we watch Paw Patrol?”
“Yeah, can weeeeee?”
“Sure. John?” John took that as his cue to turn on the show and he did so.
The three older kids sat down on the floor and watched the show, and John sat next to you to try to talk to you as you played with the baby.
“I’m sowwy, Y/N.” John stuck his bottom lip out and waited.
“Fine, whatever. You’re forgiven.” You laughed.
“But I don’t know if I should….”
“YOU BOUGHT A FUCKING BOAT, JOHN. YOU KNOW WE COULD’VE SAVED UP THAT MONEY.”
“WELL, SORRYYY I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING FUN.”
“YOU COULD’VE AT LEAST BOUGHT A SMALLER BOAT.”
“BUT THIS ONE IS REALLY FUCKING BADASS. LOOK AT IT.”
“John, where is it gonna go? We don’t have room here.” You lowered your voice.
“I’m sure we can find a friend whose garage is big enough. Like, Peggy!”
You gave him a small smile before finding the kids hidden in your oldest daughter’s room.
“It’s fine. We’re fine,” You tell them. The twelve-year-old, ten-year-old, and five-year-old all looked up at you from their board game. “And, as you’ve heard, there is a boat.”
“We aren’t keeping it here, are we?” You smiled at your daughter.
“Dad’s calling Peggy to see if she can keep it over there for us.”
“You sure you guys are alright?” Your son asked nervously. You sat next to them on the bed.
“I’m sure. And yes, there will be arguments in the future, but everything will be okay.”
“You wanna play with us?”
“Thanks for asking, but I’m going to start dinner.”
John told you Peggy was gonna be generous and keep it over there for you guys as you started dinner.
“Look, Y/N, I’m really sorry.”
“I understand.” He wrapped his arms around your waist and rested his head on your shoulder as you cooked.
“I love you so much.”
“I love you, too, babe.”
“I know his world moved too fast and burned too bright…”
You were on the computer in the dining room when you heard the front door unlock and open. You got up and went to the living room where the front door was. You gasped and your eyes grew to be the size of saucers when you saw John after he closed the door and locked it.
“What happened?” You didn’t dare to raise your voice above a whisper. John had bruises all over his arms and shoulders and he had cuts all over. His right eye was swollen and was a purple-blue mixture, his lip was cut. Before he could answer, you raced into the kitchen for an ice pack from the freezer and wrapped it in a washcloth. You gave it to him and went to the bathroom for bandages for the cuts.
He was lying on the couch when you came back. He thanked you but ensured he didn’t need any more help.
“What happened, baby?” You asked, kneeling down beside him, ignoring his previous statement.
“Lee...he…” He paused, looking into your eyes. He brought a hand up to your cheek to wipe away the tear that was slowly rolling down. “He was talking trash about Washington. And we told him to cut it out. And he started throwing punches,” You watched his hazel eyes carefully. “Washington saw and we explained what happened. Lee was fired.”
“Were you?”
“No, ma'am.” He got you to smile.
“What’re the kids gonna think? What are you gonna tell them?”
“That I’m a superhero and I saved you from the bad guy.” You laugh softly, shaking your head.
“Dad? What happened?” Your daughter was standing in the hallway, really confused as to what the heck happened to her father.
“I was a superhero and saved Mom from the bad guy…?” He replied, full of hope that she’d believe him although she knows superheroes aren’t real.
“What are you doing out here anyway?” You interjected, tilting your head to the side slightly.
“I finished studying,” She told you, pulling her hair into a high ponytail. “But really. What happened to Dad?”
“Fight at the office.” John grinned confidently. Your eldest child frowned, upset that her father was, indeed, that stupid.
“Well, okay then,” She turned into the kitchen. “Oh, Philip wants to study over here tomorrow, can he?” She asked, her back facing you two.
“Sure.” You nod, not even caring about her lie. They’re best friends, of course they won’t be studying.
You just needed to focus on your husband then, because he was obviously in need of a lecture.
“But I just thought...how can the devil be pulling you towards someone who looks...so much like an angel when he smiles at you?”
“Yeah, well my kid is friends with his kid!” Alex told Aaron Burr, pointing to John. They often argued about who’s kid was better.
“Yeah! Like, best friends!” John added, nodding and you just looked over at Eliza, as you watched your husbands argue about your children.
“Okay, okay,” Eliza stepped in. “That’s enough for today.”
You watched as Theodosia’s car pulled into the Burrs’ driveway. The door was pulled open with the three teens, decked out in softball gear, laughing.
“Oh, hey guys!” Philip waved and your daughter looked up from Theodosia Jr.’s phone. She smiled.
“How was practice?” Alex called out, raising an eyebrow.
“Great!” Philip responded before the three of them took a selfie together. Aaron, John, and Alex all shared a glance.
“Hey, I have an idea!” Your daughter called out.
“What’s up?” Theo asked.
“Can I spend the night here?”
“Oh! Me too! Can we?” Philip looked between all the parents.
The mothers all shared a look.
“Sure.” You, Eliza, and Theodosia Sr. all agree in unison.
“I suppose.” Aaron gave Alex and John a smile.
“Why don’t you two head back and pack things for the night?” You tell them, considering you live just across the street and the Hamiltons live two houses down from you.
“Okay, here’s the plan. We go into my place and pack, then Philip’s?” Your daughter proposed, looking at her friends. They nodded and raced across the street. You laughed and John wrapped an arm around you.
“It’s like they’re eight again…” Eliza smiled.
“Don’t worry, Alexander,” Aaron patted his friend on the back. “Your son will be fine with us.”
Alex narrowed his eyes at Aaron before sighing.
“Whatever, Burr.”
The kids came running back over fifteen minutes later and you hugged your daughter. And then watched as she gave John a hug.
“Don’t do any gross things, mkay?” John whispered.
“Daaaddd.” She rolled her eyes before letting go and following her friends into the house.
“They grow up so fast.” Alexander fake cries as Eliza drags him to their home.
“Maybe he knew that, when he saw me…”
John waited to see if the rain would stop for a few moments so he could go to Think Coffee without having to open his umbrella. Alex had drank all the coffee again. Which meant there was no more coffee grounds left and this was the only good place he knew. He saw you stop dead in your tracks and he noticed you didn’t have an umbrella. And you were hot. Like, really, really hot. So, he jogged across to you and offered to share his umbrella with you. He thought you had the prettiest eyes and your voice was like music to his ears. He needed you.
And as you two sat together in that cafe, he fell more and more in love with you, as cheesy and cliché as it sounds. He felt like you were the one and he was destined to make sure you stayed with him no matter what. He watched as you left the cafe, and immediately texted his friends after you disappeared into the crowd of people on the sidewalk. He knew you were his future wife.
As you made your way through the city, he realized you made your way into his heart and you were not leaving it. It made him want you more, to say the least.
“I guess I just lost my balance…”
“Come on, don’t be like that.” John whined as you swatted him away. You were trying to wash the dishes, but he just wanted to hug you and hold you close to him.
“John, stop. I’m trying to do the dishes.” You huffed. He sighed and let go.
“Pleeaasseee, Y/N.”
“Fuck off, John.”
“Why don’t you ever wanna just take a break and cuddle or something?”
“John, I’m trying-”
“Why are you always so bitchy, Y/N?” He didn’t mean it. But he said it.
“What?” Your voice was quiet. You set down the plate you had in your hand.
“You know what, nevermind. I’ll let you do your goddamn dishes. Because those are more important than me!”
“John-”
“No, no! I get it! I should just go find something else to do since my wife won’t take a fucking break!” John shook his head. “Goddamn, Y/N. You don’t give a fuck about me, do you?”
“Don’t fucking say that, John.”
“Do you actually care about me, or do I just piss you off all the time?”
“Stop it, J-”
“Answer my question!”
“John, let me-”
“ANSWER THE GODDAMN QUESTION, Y/N.”
“WHAT DO YOU THINK IT IS, JOHN? I’M JUST WASHING THE FUCKING DISHES.”
“THE DISHES CAN WAIT.” There was a short silence.
“Fuck you.”
“You’ve done that already.”
“I think that the worst part of it all wasn’t losing him,”
The kids gripped onto you, as the truck door slammed shut. You all were in tears, all four of you. It was the day. The day you were all dreading. You just wanted to stop him from ever leaving the driveway. But he was, and that was enough to tell you it wasn’t worth it.
She grew up with hearing the fights. She grew up seeing that you were in love with him through it all. She saw the light drain from his eyes as she grew older. Her brother told her it filled her eyes whenever she saw Philip. She wanted her parents back together. She didn’t want to be with one and not the other, she didn’t want to trade off. She wanted them to be in love again.
He watched the intricate relationship you shared with his father. He noticed you were broken ever since the topic of divorce was brought up. He wanted his family to be together. He thought you worked best with your husband. He knew you wanted him back as did he. He saw the tears and wanted to tell you it was okay, like you’d done for him so many time before, but he knew that it wasn’t.
She wasn’t around as long as her older siblings, but she heard the fights as she grew older as well. She wasn’t as observant as them either but she knew that her father was broken as you were. She wanted you to know that but she had never found the way to say it. And as her father climbed into the truck to leave, she knew he was fighting all he could to stop himself from running back to them so everything would be better than before. She thought it was better before the divorce.
And as he left your driveway, you felt your heart shatter as you sunk to the ground with your kids, and a sob escaped your throat.
“It was losing me.”
Philip opens the front door, knocking as he does so.
“You guys ready?” He asks, looking at the younger two. They nod and he chuckles. You leave the dining room where boxes filled with pictures await to be sorted and enter the living room.
“Hi, Philip.” You smile.
“Hello,” He chirps. He then looks around for his best friend. “Is-”
“Hey!” She yells and races into his arms. They laugh.
“Mkay, hugs!” You remind your children and they all give a group hug. Philip joins for the heck of it.
“Bye, Mom!”
“Bye!”
“See you tomorrow!”
“Bye guys! Love you!” You close the door.
You go back to the dining room and look through all the pictures. You come across two framed pictures of John and the younger kids from a few years ago and you set them aside, looking on through the photos.
“I don’t know if you know who you are...until you lose who you are.”
You lose it and start sobbing, accidentally knocking down the framed photos and shattering them. You don’t care anymore. You are broken. You are lost without him. You need him.

"I feel like death," you groaned, covering your eyes with your arm as you rolled around on the bed. You heard a light laughter come from the doorway of your bedroom, making you remove your hand from your face and glare over at the source of the sound. Anthony walked in with his arms crossed over his chest as he leaned against the doorway, smirking at you.
"You alright, princess?" He cooed as he walked over to pinch your hot cheek playfully.
You growled and slapped his hand away, pouting a bit as he continued to laugh. "Don't worry, baby. Jazzy will be home soon and she can go all mother hen on you." You huffed and rolled onto your side, still making eye contact with Anthony.
"You aren't very nice," you grumbled, pressing your face into your soft pillow and burrowing deeper into your blankets.
You heard Anthony let out a sigh as he laid down in the bed next to you and began scooping you up into his arms, letting you burrow your face into the crook of his neck. "Do you need anything, baby?" He asked, pressing a kiss to your temple. You shook your head and wrapped your arms around him, letting out a faint 'no, just wanna cuddle.'
It was silent until you both heard the front door open and close, alerting you both that Jasmine was home. "I'm home!" She sang as she walked up the stairs towards your shared bedroom. "Where are my loves?" She questioned, her smile fading when she walked into your bedroom and saw the sight before her.
"Oh, my poor baby!" She cried, dropping her bags and pushing Anthony out of the way so she could cuddle you. "Are you alright? Do you need anything?" Before you could answer, you heard Anthony let out a soft grunt as he fell onto the floor before he started laughing.
"Jas, I'm fine-" You whispered, only to get cut off again.
"Nuh uh! No talking! Your voice will get even worse if you do so." She lectured, petting your hair. You let out a quiet whine in protest only for her to give you a warning glare that made you quiet down.
It was silent until you felt your eyes struggle to stay open until you finally dozed off.
You were awoken when you felt a kick to your shin, causing you to whine and barely open your eyes when someone whispered; "you dead yet?" You opened your eyes slowly and narrowed them at the grinning Anthony.
"Shut. Up." You huffed, trying to kick him back but ended up kicking the air when he moved away. "Jas will kick your ass if she sees you making fun of me." You grinned a bit, almost laughing when a look of realization spread across his face.
He shook his head, snapping himself out of his thoughts and smirked at you. "No, she won't." He declared, crossing his arms proudly. "
Before you could answer, you both heard a voice yell from downstairs; "Anthony Ramos Martinez! Get your ass down here!" You watched his face go pale and you smirked, cuddling up into your pillow again. "Have fun."
