أصدر سمو الشيخ حمدان بن محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، ولي عهد دبي رئيس المجلس التنفيذي، قرار المجلس رقم (54) لسنة 2022 بتشكيل مجلس أمناء مؤسسة مدارس راشد ولطيفة.

ونصّ القرار على أن يُشكّل مجلس أمناء المؤسسة برئاسة معالي الدكتور أحمد بالهول الفلاسي، وعضوية كلّ من: معالي مريم محمد المهيري نائباً للرئيس، ومعالي عبدالله محمد بن طوق، ومعالي عمر سلطان العلماء، و هدى السيد محمـد الهاشمي، وهلال سعيد المري، وهالة يوسف بدري، وخلفان جمعة بالهول، وموزة سعيد المري، ود. حسن ميرزا علي الصايغ، وهناء هاشم الهاشمي.

ويُعمل بهذا القرار من تاريخ صُدوره، ويُنشر في الجريدة الرسمية.

Hamdan bin Mohammed forms the Board of Trustees of Rashid and Latifa Schools Establishment

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai has issued Resolution No. (54) of 2022 forming the Board of Trustees of Rashid and Latifa Schools Establishment.

As per the Resolution, the Board of Trustees is chaired by His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi. Her Excellency Mariam Mohammed Almheiri serves as the Vice Chairperson. Other members of the Board include: His Excellency Abdulla Mohammed bin Touq; His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama; Huda Al Sayed Mohammed Al Hashemi; Helal Saeed Al Marri; Hala Badri; Khalfan Juma Belhoul; Moaza Saeed Al Marri; Dr. Hassan Mirza Al Sayegh; and Hana Hashim Al Hashemi.

This Resolution is effective from the date of issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.

The Sons and the Daughters

Akbar has hundreds of women in his harem, but the ones he loves truly are his chief consorts and the mothers to his children: Jodha Bai (Mariam-uz-Zamani Begum) who bore him his late twin sons, Hassan and Hussain Mirza, Shahzada Salim (11 years old) (His third and first living son, current heir presumptive), and Murad Mirza (10 years old); With his fifth son Daniyal Mirza (8 years old) being fostered by her as well. Another consort, Salima Sultan - is also one of his favourites.

He also has five living daughters: 

Shahzada Khanam (b. 21 November 1569)—with Bibi Salima—Fostered by Mariam Makani—Married to Muzaffar Hussain Mirza, Timurid Prince

Mahi Begum (d. 7 April 1577) with Nathi Bai

Shakr-un-Nissa Begum (d. 1 January 1653) with Bibi Daulat Shad—Married to Shahrukh Mirza

Firoze Khannum (b. 1575)—with a concubine Fostered by Mariam-uz-Zamani Begum

In tradition, the first living son will always be the one who inherits the Empire, while the others will be given other positions if they are still alive. However, it is unheard of that ambitious younger brothers to plot with others, such as a younger uncle, to topple the ruler or the heir- thus- it is important to keep the succession in check and the heirs secure and safe, or else the empire might have a succession crisis.

I was lagging behind in my reading for the years while I was working, but I’ve been slowly building up my reading log. I mean, I have to, since I’m back in school now. But I have manged to meet my Goodreads goals for the second year in a row and that made me really happy.

Joseph was given the colorful coat and the powerful dreams. Noah knew the flood was coming. Whereas Noah's wife was silly and drowned. Eve was the first to reach for the fruit. But Hadia liked to keep her examples close. It was Mose's sister who had the clever idea to put him in the basket, and the Pharaoh's wife who had the heart to pull him from the river. It was Bibi Mariam who was given the miracle of Jesus. Bibi Fatima was the only child the Prophet had and the Prophet never lamented the lack of a son. And she liked to think that there was a reason that one of the first things the Prophet ever did was forbid the people of Quraysh from burying their newborn daughters alive. But still, hundreds and hundreds of years had passed, and it was still the son they cherished, the son their pride depended on, the son who would carry their name into then next generation.

A response to the Ahmadi sect's claims that Jesus did not ascend to the higher realms and that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiyani was Jesus.

Main points:

- In the Quran, God stated very clearly that neither was Jesus killed nor crucified; rather God raised him towards himself. God did however say that a doubt was created for people at the time of Jesus.

- There are many words in all language which will have different meanings depending on the connotation. In Quran 3:55 where God mentions ascension of Jesus, the word ‘mutawafee’ is used; many of those who have done translation of the Holy Quran have taken this word to mean ‘death’. The root word of mutawafee is 'wafa', which means ‘to complete [something].’ When Jesus is mentioned by God in this scenario, God takes Jesus’s full name: Jesus Son of Mary. This title is mentioned only when God talks about Jesus’s body. In other words, God was saying to Jesus, ‘I will raise you completely.’

- If mutawafee meant ‘to give death’ as the Ahmadis claim, then why did God say to Jesus, ‘I will raise you [towards me]’? The Ahmadis argue that it refers to the ascension of Jesus’s soul - but everyone’s soul ascends when they die. Why did God mention this specifically about Jesus? They also may say that God was talking about the ascension of Jesus’s body, but this argument would be nonsensical. When the body of Prophet Mohammad, the Leader of Prophets, is in Medina, why would God choose to ascend the (dead) body of Jesus? What would be the point?

- Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiyani cannot claim to be Jesus Son of Mary, because his own mother was someone other than Mary. God ascended Jesus Son of Mary towards himself. Prophet Mohammad mentioned that Jesus Son of Mary would return (meaning in his own body) therefore there is no way Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiyani could be Jesus. This is a lie projected by Ahmadis to support their belief system.

 “The Fashion Show” is an extension of Scherherezade Junejo’s thesis show “The Infection”. Influenced by dance and theatre, her understanding of the human body and its movement has evolved into a deeper and darker take on the meaning behind each posture, the intent of each muscle movement, and the importance of light and space in interacting with the body. “The Fashion Show” is a satire; Scherherezade’s opinion of the truth behind the glamour of a material world which we blindly and religiously follow. Trends are worn as skin and celebrities are bought in bits and pieces only to be discarded for the next big thing. The result is a deeply uncomfortable realisation of the loss of one’s own identity and sense of self.

 Music Performance by Mame-Saab

Mame-Saab features Danial Hyatt and Abdullah Tariq (from the band Mole) handling instrumentation via a laptop and midi keyboards, and Zeerak Ahmed on vocals. The triad is a project of Karachi Detour, a forum for aspiring, experimental musical and visual artists in Karachi.

 About Scherherezade Junejo

Born and bred in Karachi, Scherherezade is obsessed with all forms and facets of art. Deeply influenced by her family’s involvement with classical music, she learnt to sing and dance at a young age. Her passion for dance and painting culminated when she began attending the prestigious National College of Arts in 2006. The four most important years of her life were spent training in all aspects of traditional and contemporary art, taught by artists and critics such as Bashir Ahmed, Quddus Mirza, Mariam Hussain, R.M. Naeem, Mohd. Ali Talpur, Laila Rahman and Amna Ilyas. NCA provided Scherherezade with a legitimate platform to immerse herself in dance and theatre and she spent four years delivering stage performances across Pakistan. She was able to amalgamate her experience with art as a whole, in her thesis show “The Infection” in January 2010, which was borne as a result of her love affair with painting, sculpture, dance, mime and theatre. She graduated from NCA with Honours in 2010.
