What We Do In The Shadows Recap: Humanity 101 in "Hybrid Creatures"
In What We Do In The Shadows episode 5x7 titled "Hybrid Creatures", Guillermo inherits a family, Nadja inherits a task, and Colin inherits a class.
Recap As we check in, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) is still in stasis as half-human, half-vampire. In his pursuit of knowledge, Laszlo (Matt Berry) has decided to combine Guillermo’s DNA with that of various animals. After three days and three nights in sequestration, whoever said progress equaled promise should be fucking drawn and quartered. Guillermo’s gobsmacked. A fauna family that bears his…

got caught staring at my male coworker's hand tattoos today (there's script on one of his hands and I couldn't figure out what it said lol) and it made me think of linecook!eddie and if the reader has ever been caught staring at his hands (while he's cooking/prepping) while thinking..impure thoughts lol
This is so incredibly relatable. I have spent too much time thinking about what it would be like to be Eddie Munson's co-worker - there's no way I wouldn't be caught staring at him on a regular basis.
Here's what I've got for you. It's not exactly what you asked for, but this is what my brain said to write:
Eddie Munson x server!reader - there's a bit of smutty fantasy at the end.
+18 ONLY - MDNI
---
The new guy - Kenney? Karl? Keith? Shit, you can't be bothered to remember when you know he'll be gone in less than a month - sloshed vegetable oil on the floor as he made is his way from the storage room back to the kitchen. He knew he spilled the oil, but the head cook, Eddie, intimidated the hell out of the new guy. He didn't want to keep him waiting.
You, of course, had no idea about the oil spill. It's 11:30, and your usual set of lunch tables have just been seated. You're dancing the familiar steps you have memorized - wipe table, greet guests, fill drink orders, greet next guest, get more drink orders, and so on - making your way to deliver the first lunch orders to the line when the heel of your right foot finds the vegetable oil.
It's a slow motion movement. Your arms being to flail as you lose your footing completely. You can feel the impact of the hard tile floor on your tailbone even while you're still mostly upright. You're bracing for impact. There's no way to stop the inevitable, you just hope the damage is minimal. You clench your teeth just as you're about to feel the pain of impact when -
-you're buoyed by a firm grip on your forearms. Behind you, he clocked the sound of the rubber of you sneaker skidding along the tile. He saw the way you lifted your arms above your head, and moved instinctively. Eddie's hands grabbed your forearms hard enough to leave a mark - a small pain to save you from anything worse.
"Woah there. I got you." You can feel Eddie's breath on your neck as he allows your back to fall into his chest. An unexpected embrace that makes your knees weaker. His arms wrap around your center, holding you close. Holding you upright.
You look down and see his hands, strong and capable, holding onto you. You let him hold you, help you back firmly on your feet. You let a hand hold the small of your back, keeping your close, while you both investigate the ground in front of you. You watch those hands as they work the scrub brush against the tile to clean all traces of the offending oil. You watched those hands held out in front of him with he berated the new guy - Keith, you're almost sure of it - about kitchen safety and not killing your co-workers.
And when you climbed under the covers of your bed that night, you thought of those hands. You imaged they were pinching your nipples instead of your own. You imagine his thick fingers, rough fingertips running along your sensitive button. And when you fall asleep, you dream of those fingers inside your mouth while he's fucking you against the diner counter.
You'll never be able to look him in the eyes again.

August 2022: Alberta premier Jason Kenney announces that an expensive statue of proud racist, imperialist, and architect of South Asian famines Winston Churchill will be erected in Calgary in 2023. Kenney calls Churchill “the century’s single greatest leader.”

Excerpt:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was probably a time it made sense to erect statues of Winston Churchill in Canada. Say, about 1946. [...] I suppose, one could take issue with Alberta Premier Jason Kenney’s claim yesterday [24 August 2022] that “there is no single person more responsible for the defeat of fascism [...] than Sir Winston Churchill.”
But just as there was a time when it made sense to erect statues of Churchill in Canada, there is a time when it makes sense not to – for example, in 2023. In his encomium to the wartime British leader yesterday, even Mr. Kenney admitted, albeit half-heartedly, that Churchill was “not perfect.”
Indeed. Churchill’s legacy is, to say the least, controversial. He may have been, as Premier Kenney insisted in his verbose announcement that a statue will be erected to Churchill next year in the centre of downtown Calgary, “the century’s single greatest leader.”
Or he may have been, as others have argued, “a grotesque racist and a stubborn imperialist, forever on the wrong side of history.” [...]
Mr. Kenney, though, is not one for turning from his obsessions, among which are a couple of leaders of what we nowadays call the Anglosphere whose accomplishments are acknowledged but whose deep flaws Alberta’s soon-to-depart leader desperately wants us to forget.
If Mr. Kenney thinks Churchill was the greatest leader of the 20th Century and wants to erect a redundant and doubtless unpopular statue of the man in Calgary, he has also made it clear he attributes similar stature in the 19th Century to John A. Macdonald and is prepared to move an unwanted statue of Canada’s first prime minister and one of the architects of the residential school horror to Alberta from Victoria, B.C.
Victoria, named for another colonial personage, has relegated Macdonald’s statue, in disgrace, to a warehouse somewhere.
Mr. Kenney is not only obsessive about history [...] he is determined to ram his obsessions up our noses, as is the case with his bizarre fixation with Alberta Education’s appallingly ideological social studies curriculum, and now his enthusiasm for this statue of Churchill in front of the former MacDougall School in Calgary’s downtown, which nowadays serves as the Alberta government’s alternate Southern Alberta premier’s office.
---
About $300,000 for the statue by Edmonton sculptor Danek Mozdzenski has been raised by the Sir Winston Churchill Society of Calgary, an organization famed in the now mostly forgotten annals of the Calgary Herald for its annual “Winnie Dinnie,” an annual dinner featuring a speaker who actually knew the late PM. [...] The Winnie Dinnie’s sponsors in those days were all sincere admirers of Churchill and mostly Conservatives of a type no longer found in North America, that is to say, Tories. [...]
Now, I see from Mr. Kenney’s press release, that the president of the society is Mark Milke, a former apparatchik of the Fraser Institute and now chief honcho of a new neoliberal entity called the Aristotle Foundation, presumably dedicated to polishing the tarnished reputations of such figures as Winston Churchill.
In the cheerful little video that accompanied the press release on the government’s website, Dr. Milke, also a former political advisor to Mr. Kenney and one-time functionary of the notorious Energy War Room, enthused of Churchill: “He loved Alberta.” [...]
Regardless of the involvement of the modern incarnation of the Winnie Dinnie society, no good will come from erecting a statue of Churchill in Calgary. Indeed, one suspects that mischief is the goal. [...] Every time someone dumps a can of red paint over Churchill’s head, or some neo-Nazi group rallies at his feet, we will be reminded of the unhappy days we were led by Mr. Kenney and Alberta policy was directed by his weird obsessions.

Side Eye Leather Daddy, 18x18x1.5 inches oil on stretched canvas by Kenney Mencher $600.00
Leather Men are modern day superheroes. A lot of my art revolves around the portrayal of heroic older bullish men. In my paintings I'm trying to communicate about body positivity and the beauty of the heroic male "bear." In this case I'm celebrating leather and cigar culture, and if you don't know what that is then you probably wouldn't want this painting!
This is on gallery stretched canvas which means it is stapled on the back and the canvas wraps around the sides.
The paint is applied in thick impastos. (An Italian word for “mixture,” used to describe a painting technique wherein paint is thickly laid on a surface, so that brushstrokes or palette knife marks are visible.) I wanted the paint and the textures to feel tangible, almost like a skin.

Did Jon and Kenney ever feel guilty for not going to Mark's birthday party?
They did feel guilty, and felt bad after seeing how personally Mark took it. Ben was the one who told them not to go.

Things I would love to see addressed in Watch_dogs 4 (or future titles/spin offs/DLCs/add ons):
Aiden's relationship with Damien. I don't need a complete run-down of their entire history together, but I'd love to get some insight on how Aiden ended up in Damien's care, and why Damien, cunning as he is, decided to take Aiden under his wing. Was there an alterior motive? What was their relationship like? Was there a foundation of trust or was it purely professional?
Aiden's childhood/ teenage years. What led Aiden to fall into a life of crime? What was his relationship with his father like, since his mother's fear/hatred for him didn't seem to faze Aiden, and Nicole seems blind to it. Why did his mother flee the country with her children and what became of their father after their departure? How did he find Jordi, and how long did it take to establish a level of trust between them that allowed Jordi to entrust him with business? Also... was Jordi's 'double-cross' planned beforehand, was Aiden in the know or not, and if not, how did he survive? Side Note: I am aware that the novel 'Dark_Clouds //', which Ubisoft outsourced to author John Shirley, touches upon this ever so slightly, but afaik, this wasn't confirmed to be canon.
The fall of DedSec San Francisco. I believe that Legion plants the seed for us to connect DedSec London being targeted as terrorists, to be the catalyst for the downfall of several DedSec cells globally, but Reginald seemed to have left DedSec SF behind the moment his relationship with Zane entered more serious waters, and he met Zane well before the events of BloodLine. Did the gang simply pass the torch once they entered another stage in their adult lives, or was something else to blame entirely?
Zane. Though not as mandatory, Zane seemed to have been the driving force behind Reginald stepping away from DedSec and his 'Wrench' persona, indicating that his relationship with Reginald must have been quite serious. If so, what caused their break-up? And who is Zane, to begin with? He seemed to fall in good graces with Markus, thus he must've been good to Reginald, as Markus tends to be quite protective toward those he holds near and dear.
A reunion between Aiden and Raymond Kenney. As much as either man likes to declare that they are lone wolves that prefer to avoid team-sports, they have both proven to excell when supported by outside-influence. And, according to the Bad Blood DLC: Aiden still owes Raymond a beer. I would love to see these beautiful minds get back together and reminisce.
Time-Shifting. As much as I love and appreciate grandpa Pearce, the, almost, senior-status age already proved to be a hinderance for the script and plot for BloodLine. I think early to late 40s is an okay age-range for WD4, as it could neatly shimmy itself on the timeline directly after WD2.
Mystery health concerns? Throughout the narrative of BloodLine, Aiden seems to hint at some physical limitations that surpass his mere age. Not to mention that he fainted twice, and then slipped into a coma. Though, given the plot from the Legion campaign, we can assume that Skye Larson was likely involved, since she did have a partnership with Rempart. Even still, I'd love to know whether Aiden's high-adrenaline, little sleep lifestyle, simply left marks on him, or whether he is legitimately hiding some slumbering illness from those around him.
