Chopper and Carrot in Mirro-world inspired by Mary Blair’s concept artwork for D!sney’s Alice in Wonderland.
I loved how the Whole Cake Island arc referenced bits of Alice in Wonderland, which I’ve also always loved. It’s actually not too hard to imagine a lot of scenes from One Piece in Mary Blair’s signature concept-art style, I am going to try and do some more 🙂 I’m bored with my usual stuff 😴

Ok as silly as this probably is, I feel really passionate about this one! It's a piece of fan art of Glockenspiel, also known as the "clock-face" on the "It's a Small World" ride at Disneyland, CA! I was re-reading one of my Art of Mary Blair books, and was reminded that the visual elements of the "It's a Small World" existed, and is nothing less than absolutely breathtaking. I got super inspired and looked more into it!
While the book went into a lot of details about the artworks, layouts, and construction process of the attractions interior, not a lot was discussed or shown about the exterior. The whole building itself is a massive piece of art, and the clock face on the center tower absolutely captured my attention! I wanted to learn more about it! (Also I'd love to see it in person one day!)
Even more, I wanted to draw him as his own character! He emits such a welcoming aura with a sense comfort, love, unity, and acceptance! I can't really put it into words, but it's absolutely there and it's a huge testament to Mary Blair's exceptional sense of design! This little drawing of mine is a love letter to Mary Blair and everything she's worked on. I wanted to incorporate as many elements of the building itself into the design, and make him out to be a sort of powerful and mythical guardian of time and unity.
Mary Blair, this one's for you!
(Photos that I used for design reference, HERE!)
