I forgot about my mhyk bradnero roleswap AU fic... Wherein Bradley escapes capture so Figa+snowhi take Nero instead (because all they really needed is a symbol of villainous wizards, it's not about the action itself, it's just the optics of it, so Nero works just as well as Brad with the right spin, and you know Figaro is all about that spin), Brad struggles to keep the gang together and ends up moving East, and various dominoes fall in so many different ways... I probably won't ever write it (it ended up more of a worldbuilding exercise than a coherent narrative, so idek how to write it. Disjointed scenes would be the only way I could do it I think?) but it's a fun project to look fondly at the documents of LMAO

This is a really good point! Cause the audacity of it all more than justifies his rejection of them (though i do feel bad for Ulmo cause he really did TRY but alas)

One thing I really like about the original version of the Fall of Gondolin (ca. 1916-17, with som revision ca 1920ish i think? acc to Chris Tolkien), is Turgon’s open bitternes against the Valar for ignoring all his messengers/calls for help, at Tuor’s arrival in Gondolin;

Which matches pretty well with the actual description of them in this development stage of the legendarium (picture below). I think it’s pretty refreshing to see this attitude from some of the non-Fëanorian exiles cause we don’t see it much in the published Silmarillion, where despite the Rebellion, the Valar are still, idk, largely revered i guess (going off memory here so don’t fight me please).

(With this said, despite this bitternes against them in the original tale, the Gondothlim as they are called here still revere them with several places in the city honoring them, which Chris Tolkien also points out in his commentary on the tale. I find that a little funny.)

In contrast to the shortened version in the Silmarillion, where, while the sending of messengers and their failures is mentioned in chap. 20 (Nirnaeth), no opinion or reaction to this is given, nor is it mentioned at all on Tuor’s arrival in Gondolin;

INSTEAD here it is now Turgon and his people who are attributed with this general attitude of hear-no-evil-see-no-evil to the troubles of Beleriand, - something he criticized the Valar for in the original tale.

it should also be mentioned that in the original tale, Gondolin, while secret, still welcomes escaped/fleeing Noldor who manages to find it, and the whole narrative surrounding thralls is a bit different from the published silmarillion where they are typically distrusted/not welcomed back (though this element is still present here as well, where thralls are under a spell), but in this tl of the Legendarim, pretty much all non-Gondothlim Noldor are referred to as thralls of Morgoth (Voronwë in this version is also a thrall).

Anyways, i’m all for a more bitter Turgon please and thank you, not just against the Fëanorians but also the Valar. Just a whole bitter melon sitting in his pretty white city. Thanks.

Are there any Tolkien ships you like ? ( trop included)

Of course! God I need to get more cringe. I'm a fandom blog I swear, I don't just talk inscrutible metanarrative. The ships I love!

Boromir/Theodred; All the real ones on this blog will know my commitment to this ship even if I don't talk about it a lot anymore. What if self sacrifice was all that your life and personality and circumstances would allow you, what if that defined you in such totality that the idea of wanting and needing was a kind of agony. What if that wasn't true for just one person, because in their own unique way they are also sitting here with you in this war, in these positions you have no choice but to fill, what if they both understand and need you to understand too, what if you both collectively decided that whatever meagre loving you could nurture between you was enough, what if in the end you died hundreds of miles away but also barely a morning apart. I cannot express to you how much I think about them.

Tar-Telperien/Ciryatur; This is my entirely made up lesbian ship where Ciryatur is concieved of as an edging-transmasc lesbian who changed their name to their job title. I had plans to write a fic about them but my health has really curtailed a lot of my fanfic aspirations. The basic point is Telperien being butch herself and the pair of them building joy from rigid circumstances and around the fluctuating and tenuous religious/political issues of the era. I painted a little thing for them here ages ago. But I'm still pleased with it :)

Denethor/Finduilas; The title of my blog is not a joke. There is something so compelling about viewing their relationship through the lense of them both being of trans-experience but eternally closetted. Finding a way to still live a life that is beautiful and meaningful to them even when it is forged of so many griefs and injustices and dangers and horrors.

Denethor/Aragorn; Mostly as a 'nothing happened but they're insane about each other' thing. Denethor wanted to be Aragorn's Steward, he wanted to give him a home, he wanted to let him belong somewhere and Aragorn wanted that too but pride and culture and circumstance meant that it never came to anything and Aragorn abandons Denethor in the end.

Denethor/Gandalf; Again nothing is happening here but emotionally they have skipped the romantic relationship and landed on divorced couple of 40 years. You know me better than anyone alive and yet refuse to understand me, which is a pain so familiar as to be comforting. Yet sometimes I still find myself reaching out for intimacy anyway and hating that I am surprised you hurt me in response.

Measse/Thuringwethil; This is obscure as to be almost uninvolved in the world of tolkien as a whole but in earlier drafts of the Valar there used to be a goddess called Measse who was sort of a goddess of war but more a goddess of viscera, she had bloody arms and was called amazonian. And I think Thuringwethil should have been her Maia, I think she should have invented vampires. And I think they should have kissed about it.

In terms of TROP I think Elendil and Gil-Galad should fuck but in the most shameful catholic repressed way, I want them both to sully their divine aspects by bouncing and moaning on it. I think they should crumble under the pressure of their stations and angst about how corrupt their souls must be to desire such unnatural couplings but like, Elendil is still sucking Gil-Galad's tongue the next day. The inevitability of queer desire will always triumph over Eru-mandated asceticism and purity.

You have no idea how upset I am that Pharazon didn't get a chance to nearly convince Elendil to become a kingsman and to hate god. Like it literally writes itself, two widows of nearly equal social standing, struggling to maintain relationships with their adult children but like mostly it's their fault.. they could have had the most self indulgent intimate 'yes exactly!' talks in the dead of night by the sea... And then they could have kissed about it too. And then Elendil could have eventually been like NAY! My love for the One is TOO GREAT, I will not forsake the valar!! Wasted potential.

I am also grieving the brief frisson we got with Miriel and Galadriel, I was getting very invested in these two women who are both in their own way going to fail in the most catastrophic manner possible and the sexual tension between them that evoked.

These days l've been wondering if Amanda is taller than Wooly or if Wooly is taller than Amanda

• In the pilot it is clear that Wooly is shorter than her

• But already in the normal game, they seem to be of the same height, even, there are times when I see Wooly taller

• Besides, depending on where you meass it also changes the height

(Although in the tik tok of the game there is a video where Wooly takes Amanda on horseback and if Amanda were taller they would fall, although well, this is a video game so that should not be a problem and if you are strong enough you can carry someone taller than you)

Compilation of sketches with three characters from the CCU: Extended Edition.

All three in one way or the other representing the fact, that taking mortal people and making them into immortal personifications of such exciting concepts as vengeance, ill omens or hope would give them various flavors of trauma and issues.

More specifically we have here Measse - woman of many anger issues, deific equivalent of hitwoman and part-time Morgoth cosplayer, naturally including having negative rizz (but thankfully not trying to convince people that he, in fact, has all the sex available).

Lily - the fascinating root cause of slavaboo elves, little ray of hope and kindness, who makes magic playing gusli and may or may not be terrified of her timeless future erasing her human side.

And Makar, who might need to go and get this constant cold checked at the medical professional, but otherwise is a uniquely unlucky personification of weaponized misfortune and bad omens. He also crochets and was born more or less alongside rotary phones.
