FYI you may not want to place too much faith in meat labeled as Kosher and Halal, NOT for racist conspiracy reasons, but just because there is a history of meatpackers lying about what standards they meet. It bears repeating, because I know I'm on the piss poor reading comprehension site: I am not saying that food is bad because it is halal or kosher. I am saying that companies have a profit incentive to lie about whether their food is halal or kosher, there may not be sufficient oversight to ensure that, and that halal and kosher labeling is insufficient to determine the full story of the ethical and safety standards to which meat production is held.

Saw a post about how halal and kosher meat will likely be the only reliably safe options in the US because their safety and cleanliness standards aren't dictated by what's the barest legal minimum that government food safety regulations demand.
