HOAX is a three members band / group that began self-releasing short comedy songs in english and korean on Youtube under the online alias SEXY HOAXY in 2014; the name inspired by "all of the sexy hoaxes people on the internet believe in".[1]

Although, initially starting their career secretly under artistic aliases and blurred faces, subsequent growth of their online presence compelled them to disclose their activity to their family and friends and the members eventually revealed their appearances to their fans.

By early 2016, the group has shifted their lyrics to confessional, emotionally transparent with political undertones, helping their online presence to become significant , but also label them as "controversial". As a result, they had a hard time finding a record label that would represent them.[2]

Switching tactics, the group changed their name to HOAX and self-composed, produced and independendly released their debut extended play THE VANISHING OF JOE on Spotify july 18th 2017[3], relishing in the steadily growing popularity.

It wasn't until the release of their single WHAT HAPPENED TO J(H)OE three months later that their music went fully viral resulting in being offered a deal with a global recording business M4Ethat allowed them to retain ownership and control of their music and image. [4] Capitalizing on their sudden popularity, the band released their second and third EPs J(h)oe in a grave followed by Live J(h)oe in 2018 and 2019 respectively.[5]

All of three members have come under fire for their "not-celebrity-like behavior" and the many rumors surrounding them.[6] Their reaction was to create a reality / documentary series HOAX IS GOOD (later renamed HOAX PAYS TAX 2)to give insight into their personal unhinged, drama-filled lives in 2020.[7]

Tuesday’s Mumblings

I’m getting into a better mindset lately. I suppose it has to do with things starting to move forward in Texas. Right now, there’s 1 of 2 contracts executed. I suppose by the end of January, I’ll be heading back down there.

Somewhere around the “end of January” I should have a better idea about what projects I’ll get involved with this year. So fingers crossed, I have a good and profitable year. Then again, I’m going to have to deal with taxes again. Ugh.

Just tomorrow to get through before I’m on a plane, and leaving this semi-frozen tundra. Sadly, I’ll be heading over to mostly-frozen tundra of central Michigan. Middle of the mitten for an extended weekend, with a little work on Friday.

Now, if only I don’t have to deal with the members of my immediate family, or the nephews, or the BIL…I should be successful in not drinking myself into the “pain relief” state. My brain hurts when I have to deal with them for prolonged periods of time. Not to mention the filthy state of their home. I can do this. If not, I know where the liquor department at Meijer is, and the Dunkin Donuts/ gas station/ liquor store has an impressive selection of Single Malt Scotch.

I’m looking forward to seeing my other family members there. My cousin is throwing a 85th birthday party for her mother, my aunt. This should keep me occupied and not have to deal with anything else.

We love our pets. They are valued members of our household, and in some cases, we enjoy their company more than we do that of other humans. We speak to them as if they understand our language, although they are very challenged when it comes to communicating back.And we will do almost anything for them.

In addition to the 334 million Americans residing here, there are 89.7 million dogs and 58.3 million cats. That’s a lot of extra mouths to feed, but we do it because we crave their companionship, and without their faithful humans, they would suffer. All told, USAmericans spend $136.8 billion each year on their pets.

That’s a huge market, and while big-box chains like Pet Smart and Petco long ago realized this, I am surprised that mass marketers had not stepped up to the plate to claim a bigger piece of the action.Sure, all the big ones, like Target, Meijer, Walmart, and others, have extensive pet supplies sections in their stores.

But there is still money on the table, and that is pet services. These run the gamut from nail clippings to grooming and vaccinations, the kinds of things that typically require a visit to a veterinarian.

Walmart, though, has sniffed out a potentially lucrative strategy to break into that sector by opening its first pet center, with plans to open many more if it does well.

I am betting that, in addition to realizing this market is simply too good to ignore, that Walmart is also very much aware that change is afoot in the veterinary services field as well. Turns out that between 2017 and 2022, $45 billion in private equity deals were made to scoop up local vets and their clinics. That’s another way of saying that, while your local vet may look and smell like a home-town operation, they may very well be part of a much larger entity.

That’s your cue, Walmart, because if vet clinics are attracting that kind of PE money, there must be a lot more gold to mine. And, Walmart offers something that all the others do not: convenience. Stir in competitive pricing, and you have a 1-2 punch that will find shoppers bringing Fido to the store, and picking their groceries while he gets his nails trimmed and shots updated. It’s also not a whole lot different from dropping off your car for a tire rotation or oil change at Walmart while you do your shopping.

I have to smile, too, because this is something that is so NOT digital, at a time when it seems everything is going that way. It requires you to show up in person, along with your pet. You know. Be in the moment, and interact with other humans. And their pets. You might be able to book appointments and so forth electronically, but you can’t get a rabies shot online or through an app.

But there is a digital side to all of this, and that’s the new subscription service Walmart is rolling out for regular consumables for your pets. Heck, if Amazon will deliver my vitamins each month, there’s no reason Walmart can’t deliver a 46-pound bag of dog food on a similar schedule. Let them do the heavy lifting.

The new pet center will have its own dedicated entrance, which is a wise move, since I’m sure Walmart doesn’t want people and their pets entering the store along with everyone else. It will be staffed by employees of a separate firm, although it will all be branded as Walmart. This also makes sense, because Walmart does not have the types of employees needed to deliver such services.But it sure has the right venue for selling them.

The planned price list for services will also put Walmart in a good place. Vet clinics have had little or no competition in the past, but Walmart is about to shake the fruit off of that tree. With inflationary pressures finding more people, including pet owners, trading down or delaying spending money, this is a strategy that is consistent with Walmart’s overall mission to provide value.

Amid all of the effort to push forward into the future, to incorporate ever more automation, it is refreshing to see that there is still opportunity to make money the old fashioned way. I’m thinking my dog Huck would like this, and if and when we get this service in Canyon, we’ll be there.

Ohtani gives Braves a taste of the deep ball

LOS ANGELES - It’s difficult to put a calculated finger on the worth of Major League Baseball megastar Shohei Ohtani. The Los Angeles Dodgers had a pretty strong inkling of what that worth was when they signed Ohtani off the free agency market for a reported $700 million deal.      That’s a lot of dough. Minter that defied logic in the bottom of the eighth inning.    “He just keeps doing things that we haven’t seen before,” Roberts said in his postgame press conference. “Minter…fastball. Middle, middle, and he just took a really good swing and it was 111 , 112 off the bat. That’s deep. People don’t hit the ball out there. Whether you’re right-handed or left-handed, day game or night game. The wind was actually kind of pushing it from left to right. So, he really got into that one. Since I've covered almost all of my other player-vamps, I have to cover the mess that is Ms Meijer.

As a criminal lawyer in The Hague, she's got a lot of patience for the grim, unpleasant and outright cruel. Also a keen eye for when something follows a pattern, specifically a human-like intention-- such as serial killers (or vampires). Of course she was shouting into the void trying to convince the other then-human members of the crew not to chase up the pattern of animal murders they were chasing, and it ended up in all three of them dead and embraced. Is it any wonder she was picked for Clan Malkavian?

However, her sire badly wants to torture and murder her for reasons she's not entirely sure of, but thinks it's probably down to the embrace having been a political stunt that's gone too far, or something. Given her sire neglected to tell her that vampires die in sunlight, and she spent her first day as one of the undead hidden in a back alley bin, she's wondering.

She's got a habit of making connections the others don't know about, and Frankie (the resident Kiasyd) tends to get at her for it, but she remains assured that some secrets are better left unspoken, and if she must be the one to do the risky shit, that saves the other two. In her eyes they're naive, after all. A bit of a glutton for punishment, but everything she does is to help, even if it looks fucking insane.

Fun fact: she's got permanent fangs, and her madness manifests in more than one way-- delusions, primarily, that she's in a Hell and nothing is actually real. However, she's not sure if the people in this Hell-like place are real or not so she's taking it on the safe side. She's actually also an atheist and the term 'hell' is just her easiest way to explain it all. She also endures creepy hallucinations of 'demon' creatures that demand to make a deal with her, and claim to be able to fix everything... but she usually tells them in no uncertain terms to fuck off. Hopefully she can keep resisting.

also fun fact: she misses pastries so bad. Dear gods she'd kill a man to be able to eat food again. Other vampires feel more poetic ways about their loss of humanity, but she just really wants to stick a whole Danish in her face and drink half a litre of coffee and then lie on the floor. (She found out the hard way what happens to vampires when they consume food. her floor needed a lot of scrubbing after that.)

Third fun fact: she's a bisexual, really likes women, but is incredibly picky about men. They better IMPRESS her damn it. She also loves goth music. Like, Sisters of Mercy and stuff like that.

the journalist listened carefully to the other's dissection on what wolfs were , a list of myths and factual data falling from the former lawyer's lips making valerie mirror their grin in the most honest way she could. there was something charming about the way they had managed to transform a jab she had mindlessly provided ( lazily so ) into a life lesson ; something they could not only recognize as significative but something they could see themselves as . there were many personality traits of killian valerie admired , the one being shown happened to be on the top 3 of her favorite things about her once closest friend . " there you have it , a suggestion for your next costume shall opportunity arise , then . a jaded werewolf with hungry eyes and a charming smile would be the downfall of an entire generation " she jested, raising her glass to meet the other's gaze as her lips curled up proudly .

" for what is worth , you do have all those traits in my not so humble opinion at least . you are a great leader — i believe i've said so on record " she recalls . her exposé on the lawfirm killian used to work on contained an addendum of the people who weren't involved on the fraudulent deals made by those who were power hungry , killian mde an appearance where valerie very briefly and detached mentioned the great asset they were to the firm and how , did they chose to one day fly solo and start a firm by themselves they were sure to have a loyal clientele ready to embark on an aventure with them. at the time , it had been a silent plea , a cry for help to let killian know between lines that the harsh words in the article were never meant to them nor wished any harm to their career but the contrary .

it was more than the fondness she had once felt for the lawyer , valerie could see miles away how much greater young killian was than those phonies they once worked with, ethically and practically speaking and she wasn't the only one taking note either and at the end of the day , having that knowledge had been a catalyst for her to publish the piece .

once the other made a question, valerie's attention shifted back to the present , making her raise a brow as she tried to decipher what they could mean regarding the taste of what she assumed was the virgin cocktail . the notes of flavor in the tip of her tone were nowhere near as potent as they would've been had she not been on medication , alas the journalist worried her response would be biased. until , of course , killian explained themselves .

something valerie langham prided herself on was her ability to remain stoic when it was needed of her . her mind was a constant warzone ; never calm nor silent enough to provide true peace of mind . yet, wheneve it was needed of her ( due to business or simply by her own demand and force of nature , perhaps a skill taught by her mother who had always been as big on dramatics as valerie was ) valerie always found a way to keep her thoughts and emotions to herself , away from other's reach . along with her career , it was her biggest accomplishment in life ; something to be proud of .

yet, there is always something or someone who managed to break you down, isn't there ?

valerie had an itemized list of somethings and someones , her achilles heels throughout her life , all color-coded and detailed to the brim somewhere in the back of her mind . as everything in life , it all started with her mom , who always had a way to get under her skin and ignite the most honest reactions her body had ever felt , good and bad . her siblings came close second . killian had a whole section for themselves , intricate and full of details about how their words , actions and touches had become a sort of kryptonite for the otherwise stoic former heir who had upheld her composure whilst meeting world leaders and celebrities alike .

and there they were , years later , the cells on their bodies that knew eachother dead and gone by now— and killian still managed to break down every one of valerie's walls , to get under her skin and make her body and soul react to them in ways valerie herself never imagined possible with an analogy to their rather complex relationship , their individual personalities and the cocktail shared by the two of them .

the third shiver of the night ran down the journalist' spine as she mauled both the tastes dingling on the tip of her tongue and an answer that felt appropriate to their current situation . " discovery " was her initial response to the question left on the table next to the half-full cocktail glasses, gathering condensation droplets . " be it self discovery or discovery of what once meant something and now means something else , the rush it provides moves me . if i didn't have that thirst for knowledge and learning even about subjects i already know by heart i would be a terrible journalist " she mused . as broken, jaded stinging and older as they were , there was something so thrilling about the journey to relearn to exist in the same orbit as killian meijer and what that entailed now.

" freedom " her lips provided before she could stop herself, chewing her lower lip immediately before explaining her train of thought . " we were both trapped in a web of lies in our own way , pretending to be a version of ourselves that we were not quite comfortable with on it's entirety. perhaps my tastebuds back then would've tasted bitterness , boredom and a life far from what i thought i needed . now — the air is smoke free and we can breathe in , fully conscious that it's our decision to do so , that it's our free will that made us do so . every bit as sweet and rich as thick and overwhelming. "

as valerie is finishing her soliloquy , the tempo of the music shifts , the familiar melody makes the journalist look up at the other , a knot forming on the pit of her stomach .

Hello and happy New Years everyone! I apologize for my inactivity and my lack of writing as of late but I can assure you I do have a reason. I have been very busy with school, many of you know that university is very difficult and can be very time consuming for us students- especially with some of us trying to go for an all A streak.

I am currently enrolled in two winter fast pace cram classes for English and while I do have some freedom, I do unfortunately have to heal currently. I recently came down with what seemed to be a cold before I left for my Christmas holiday in Michigan, of course it only got worse as the holiday progressed and almost seemed as if it was a pesky sinus infection which I got medicine for at a local Meijers but turns out I was only adding fuel to the fire. Long story short, I have laryngitis- which is common but is incredibly painful and irritating to say the least.

I am taking the CORRECT medicine for this now so that’s a good thing, but, yes there is a but (there’s always one), I am having to monitor my lungs and my breathing because the coughing I am dealing with is so painful that I have found it hard to breathe sometimes.

Mum, remind me why you got rid of my nebulizer again…?

As someone with previous respiratory infections and issues like pneumonia/bronchitis induced asthma, this is definitely a must watch for me. Other than that I’m definitely doing well mentally, and am rather enjoying my “quarantine” of sorts and my pyjama days where I can work peacefully on homework, some art projects, and read the books I got for Christmas!

I will get to writing soon! (Hopefully!)
