Our Core Principles
OUR APPROACH
At Bethany Homes, we realize each of our residents has unique needs and wishes. Our RELATIONSHIP-BASED CARE PROGRAM ensures that a familiar staff member is always on hand to assist every resident and ensure that they are exceedingly satisfied with their quality of life at our facility.
Whether you are looking for an assisted living board and care, or Alzheimer’s and dementia care home, we are confident that we can provide the care and love your family member needs.
Our Story
Bethany Home started over 20 years ago, when we began caring for our own elderly parents and grandparents. We provide this same loving and familial care to every individual that makes Bethany their home.
We know how difficult it is to choose the right care or assisted-living home, and this is why we do all that we can to make each resident feel as secure and loved as they deserve.
Assisted Living versus Board and Care Homes
Bethany Home is a state-licensed Elderly Assisted Living Facility. As the elderly care industry has many names and categories under which our services fall, here is a brief overview so that you understand what Bethany Homes can provide for your loved-one.
The main difference between an Assisted Living Community and a Board and Care Home or Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) is most often their size. Assisted Living Facilities tend to be larger and Board and Care Homes are usually smaller, providing care for usually 6 residents, in a non-institutional, residential home setting. Although both Assisted Living and Board and Care Homes provide the same assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), residents in the smaller Board and Care Homes benefit from having better staff-to-resident ratios than larger facilities. As a result, it is usual for the elderly to move from a larger Assisted Living environment to a smaller board and care home as their care level increases and they need more personal attention and assistance with activities of daily living.
So where does Bethany Homes fit in? Although Bethany Homes is an assisted living community, it is made up of smaller board and care home locations located throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Each location is a residential care home specifically designed to meet the needs of the elderly, without the feel of a large institutional setting. As a result, each of our residents benefit from the resources of a larger Assisted Living Community but also the attention to detail and familiarity that comes with each smaller location.
Our Core Principles
•             Offer the respect and dignity that all of our residents deserve.
•             Provide a love-based approach to serving our residents.
•             Create a joyful environment in which the body, mind, and spirit of our residents, visitors, and staff can thrive.

Top 5 Pipan moments from your fics so far
I hope you know you could not possibly have asked me a more difficult question and I don’t know if you wanted massive excerpts but guess what you’re getting them. I can’t really RANK these in most to least so they’re just,, a general top 5. I’ll also link to the fics!! This was a great excuse to go back and smile fondly over them thank you
1. From (Comforting Kiss)
Whether he had any memory of his perilous dreams on waking didn’t seem to follow much rhyme or reason. Not that he’d be inclined to talk about it, anyway. But for Piper, helpless except to watch, each experience burned itself in her mind and stuck there like spilled ink.
“This isn’t right.” Blue sobbed, tugging tightly on his own hair. “She wouldn’t have- Nora…”
Nora. Nate’s wife haunted him unmercifully by night. And even in daylight her ghost followed him across Boston, Concord, Quincy… Piper could see that, too. The way Blue would freeze as they passed places familiar to his old life. Ruins, now, but still recognizable in some small fashion to bring the memories rushing back.
Nate lived in the past. He was stuck there. Imprisoned, maybe. And it was the one place Piper couldn’t follow. No matter how badly she might want to.
With a grimace, she abandoned the discomfort of her sleeping bag to sit beside Blue and took his quivering hand. Such had been her habit for a while now. Though it never stirred any consciousness, sometimes the tremors seemed to recede. Sometimes. Maybe the gesture only held significance in its intent. At least it was better than sitting by helplessly and watching him suffer. She hated that. Hated seeing him fight a losing battle night after night.
The truth was she’d been in love with him for a while, now.
——-
2. From (Loving Kiss)
A deep hum of amusement thrummed out of her as she turned and meandered down the hallway, pretending to occupy her attention with the paintings lining the wall. Soon the noise of the party had faded to a quiet echo, and the sea beckoned close by.
Speeding up, Nate brushed Piper’s hand with loose fingers as he passed, leading her towards the sound of waves rolling over dark sand. Echoes of their contact pulsed up his arm like an electric current. The sensation lingered, and once again he resisted the powerful urge to stop everything else and kiss her into a stupor. The way she was blushing, it wasn’t hard to guess whether her thoughts followed a similar track.
They found respite on the Northern shore, well away from prying eyes.
“Lovely night,” Piper noted in a whimsical voice. Moonlight cast ripples of ivory over the waters, and in the distance the silhouette of Boston stood skeletal and resolute. It was clear and cloudless, the sky above bright with myriad stars. But Piper hadn’t been looking at any of that when she spoke.
“Yeah.” Nate answered, a little too distracted by the windblown curls in her hair to appreciate the view.
She snickered faintly. Her hands couldn’t quite decide where they wanted to be - affixed to her coat lapels, behind her back, against her hips - they danced about as if still within the Castle proper. Nate’s own fingers ravelled together inside his pockets and he hovered stiffly against the rising moon.
Free now to speak their minds, it seemed suddenly that neither quite knew what to say.
——-
3. From (Passionate Shut-Up Kiss)
“And what if I don’t heal?” He barbed, hostile with fear, “What if I’m a blind man forever? When I can’t defend myself and can’t travel and can’t even see your face? Is that what you want?”
It was quiet for a moment - long enough for her to have given him that look. “I don’t care.” She replied testily.
“How can you not ca-”
“Hey, listen to me-”
“Piper-”
She kissed him, hard, tugging her fingers through his hair and down his jaw until his tense body loosened under her in submission. Piper’s nose brushed his own and she breathed softly against his lips. “You’re alive. We still have each other. That’s what matters.” She insisted quietly, fiercely. “The rest is just details, Blue. Noise. Static. I don’t care if you lost your arms and legs to boot and turned into a blind ghoul caterpillar, I’d hand feed you and read you comics and describe all the colours of all the sunsets before I kissed you under them.”
The wound in her voice at the end put Nate very close to tears.
She hugged him tightly and whimpered, “Alright?”
Nate clutched her and nodded weakly, saltwater weeping into his bandages. “I love you, too.”
——-
4. From (Snow Day)
With a soft smirk, Piper sauntered ahead, looking up at the glasslike glitter of ice on the branches above. “…Can’t remember the last time I saw-”
SHF-FLT!
A clump of white powder showered across the back of her head and Piper spun, face awash with disbelief.
Nate’s hands were conspicuously concealed behind his back, his own expression doing its best to mimic her surprise. “Uh - careful, Scribbles. Heavy snow like this is likely to fall off the trees. You, uh-” He nearly lost his composure, “You might get doused.”
Narrowing her eyes, Piper pretended to fall for the ruse. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
She waited long enough for him to dismiss the threat of retaliation, which was hard. Then she rushed up from behind, yanking down his coat collar and shoving a handful of ice and snow down his back.
——-
5. From (Dreams Still Remembered)
Dodging the question, her lover probed warily, “…What brought this on?” His fingers ribboned together, as though floating an invisible flip lighter between them. The uneven rise and fall of his vest betrayed Blue’s stiff breathing, “I thought you said you wer-”
“I know. Yeah, I did. Just, what if though? If we had the chance, would you…? Would you want that?”
“I love you, Piper. I don’t need anything else.” Nate shook his head, meeting her gaze emphatically, “Whatever I said to make you think otherwise, I-”
“U-uUGH!” she seethed, fidgeting - more frustrated at herself than him. “You don’t understand.”
He leaned back, considering her for a moment before standing again. Nate moved towards her, but Piper tensed and retreated a step.
“Piper…?”
“I’m pregnant, Blue.”
An apocalyptic silence hit the air. Nate’s eyes were wide and vivid in the candlelight as he reassessed her, taking in every detail of Piper’s face, lingering on the quiver of her lips before glancing down at her belly as though he might see proof of the claim. He just stared. He didn’t say a word, and that was more frightening than anything he could’ve possibly uttered in response to the revelation.

Planning Alzheimer’s Care in Concord California – How the Disease Progresses
Finding out that a family member has Alzheimer’s is devastating. It helps to understand the progression of the disease and know what to expect. Alzheimer’s disease is incurable and progressive. The initial stages are long and drawn out.  There is little effect on the patient in the first years and they can continue to live a regular life.
Plan your Alzheimer’s care requirements through the stages
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia. It affects people’s ability to remember, think, solve problems, communicate and eventually move. Alzheimer’s is a progressive disease with seven stages. Though there is no cure, it is possible to slow down the progress of the disease.
Stage 1 : Because there are no symptoms during the first stage of Alzheimer’s, you may only know that you have it if there is a history of Alzheimer’s in your family. Stage one is the period during which proteins build up in the brain and it can last for up to fifteen years.
Stage 2 : Alzheimer’s mainly affects people over the age of 65. It is quite common, at this age, to suffer from some forgetfulness. People with Alzheimer’s will suffer a steeper decline than those who don’t have it. At stage 2, memory loss shouldn’t have any negative affects on social life or work. Stage 2 can last anything from two to ten years.
Stage 3 : lasts about seven years. At first the signs won’t be obvious but in the last two to four years, the person may battle to learn new tasks. They could get lost on familiar routes and the quality of their work will begin to decline
Stage 4 : It is most likely that the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s will happen during stage 4. This is when sufferers start to battle with complex tasks. They will start to forget recent events and will have trouble dealing with finances.
Stage 5 : Stage 5 lasts about 18 months. During this period the patient will experience moderately severe decline in the ability to care for themselves. They will need a fair amount of support. They will become confused with issues such as time and location and can no longer live independent lives.
Stage 6 : Over the course of the next 2.5 years, in stage 6, the person with Alzheimer’s will experience a steady decline in the ability to dress, and manage their personal hygiene. They will eventually lose control of their bladder and bowel. They will cause shame and frustration. They may start to stutter.
Stage 7 : During stage seven, speech will decline from a few recognizable words to an inability to speak at all. The patient will lose muscular control. Many people become immobile and die of pneumonia as a result.
Concord California Alzheimer’s Care Requirements
If your loved one is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s they will need some Alzheimer’s in home care from stage 4 or 5. As the disease progresses, they will need full time senior care in Concord, California home.

1947 Ford Sedan
Brian George
Penryn, CA
When Brian bought this 1947 Ford four years ago, its style was stuck in the Nineties. Roseville Rod & Custom took care of that. Body mods include smoothing the deck lid, getting rid of the vent windows, and adding hood louvers. Chassis changes include a Heidts Mustang II-style independent front suspension, custom 4-link in the rear, and AccuAir to drop it to the pavement. A Ford 9-inch rearend is stuffed with 3.78:1 gears. Under the hood lies a carbureted Ford 302. Wilwood discs slow the Budnik wheels. Inside, you’ll find Wise Guys seats, a Billet Specialties wheel, and Classic Instruments gauges. Silver Mist from PPG was chosen as the perfect color for the sedan.
1933 Ford Coupe
Mike Gnoss
Rio Linda, CA
Sometimes taking your time pays off. Mike started working on his ’33 more than 25 years ago, but got pulled away by other automotive interests. In 2010, Tim’s Hot Rods performed a lot of the bodywork, chopping the top, tubbing it, shaving the body, and shooting the Blaze Red paint (a Chrysler color). Then the car was stored for another long stretch, emerging just weeks before the Sacramento Autorama. It went right back to Tim Lohrey for assembly, German leather upholstery by ABC Upholstery, and installation of the supercharged 509ci big-block built by Riolo Racing Engines. The aggressive-looking ’33 got done just in time for the Sacramento.
1949 Chevrolet Sport Coupe
Brett Cowan
Sacramento, CA
The Sacramento Autorama Suede Pavilion is where to find Forties, Fifties, and Sixties style hot rods and customs. Brett is a fan of  Zocchi and D’Agostino customs, and was frustrated that his ’49 Chevy wasn’t finished. After some time with Marco Garcia and the customizers at Lucky 7 Customs, his custom has been getting some deserved attention. Custom mods include a chopped top, DeSoto grille, shaved sheetmetal, frenched headlights and ’51 Merc taillights. Wide whitewall tires roll on the stock rims with Cadillac sombrero hubcaps—under the power of a Chevy straight six engine. The pearl paint has a green apple look, but the color, like the car, is called Devil’s Lettuce.
1931 Ford Model A Coupe
Jeff & Maryann James
Newcastle, CA
The barn-find Model A was initially built quick in 2012 as something to drive while Jeff’s ’54 Chevy custom was being built. Chopped the day after he bought it and on the road in two months, it eventually ended up at Miller Metal Works in Texas. Jesse Miller built the hood and sides and the decklid, added those wheel caps, and punched louvers everwhere, shot the paint, and basically transformed the car. Lefty from Sacramento Poor Boys added the graphics. So-Cal Speed Shop boxed the frame and provided many traditional suspension parts. Six Strombergs feed the Buick Nailhead. Like the rest of the coupe, the interior is a work of art, especially the leather interior.
1927 Dodge Roadster
Matt Taylor
Concord, CA
Three weeks before appearing in Sacramento, Matt took his ’27 Dodge to the Grand National Roadster Show to compete for the AMBR award. Built in Matt’s tiny Taylor Made Kustoms garage, the Dodge was a hit with every fan of early Sixties show customs, and won the George Barris Memorial Kustom D Elegance. Not bad for a car that started as a cowl and a pile of parts. Customization extends from the suicide straight axle to the chrome ’62 Impala rear, and every inch in between. The engine is a well-detailed 350 backed by a Powerglide. The steering wheel is ’60 Dodge Polara on a ’55 T-Bird column. The paint was handled by none other than the legendary Art Himsl.
1927 Ford Model T
Ralph Locke
Fairfield, CA
In 1954, teenaged Ralph was building a ’27 T pickup. Three weeks after finishing high school, he joined the army and sold the car to a stranger he met while waiting for a bus to Fort Ord. This time around, he worked with Arnold, Angelo, and Frank Zucchi at Zucchi Restoration to fulfill a lifelong dream. The body, frame, suspension parts, and other components are from Shadow Rods. The 59AB Flathead was ported and loaded with an Isky cam. The rearend is a Winters quick-change. The drilled I-beam and split ‘bones are traditional stuff, and the 4-corner Wilwood disc brakes are a modern upgrade. The  interior includes custom buckets, European cord carpet, and Classic Instruments gauges.
1955 Chevy 210 Sedan
Paul Schulz
Folsom, CA
Paul’s ’55 was just finished when it won the Third Place award in the 2016 Hot August Nights Cup competition in Reno. Builder Leonard Lopez at Dominator Street Rods came up with the ideqa of sectioning the iconic body. “I asked him how many cars he’d sectioned like this. His answer: None, and probably no one else has either.” The results are amazing. The chassis is an Art Morrison Enterprises creation. The wheels are from Budnik’s G-Series. Eight injector stacks from the Imagine EFIsystem top the stroked LS3 engine, backed up with a Tremec T6 and a 3.70-geared Ford 9-inch. The contemporary interior includes leatherbound seats upholstered at Elegance Auto Interiors.
1935 Ford Coupe
Paul Bradley
San Jose, CA
At first, Paul wanted to build his ’35 coupe as a beater, but after meeting Brandon Flaner and the East Bay Speed & Custom crew, “I decided to build a nice car.” The coupe had been sitting untouched in a Compton, California, garage for 30 years when it was spotted by some utility workers (the door jamb still has an unrepaired bullet hole). Eventually it ended up at Paul’s and East Bay’s rebuild began. The 59AB Flathead has dual 97s, and is tied to a ’39 Ford trans. A 5-inch dropped axle, ’35 spindles, and reversed-eye springs contribute to the hot rod stance. The nostalgic interior features pleated Naugahyde on a ’37 split bench, a ’48 DeLuxe wheel and Stewart Warner gauges.
1936 Ford Coupe
Tom Smith
Roseville, CA
This year marks the 25th year for Roseville Rod & Custom, located near Sacramento. The milestone was celebrated at  the Sacramento Autorama with a two row display of Roseville-built cars. Tom’s ’36 coupe was at the front of the line.  The eye-attracting tan paint covers a chopped coupe body over a TCI frame. A Heidts Mustang II front end and 4-link rear carry the car. Wide whites from Coker and spoke wheels from Wheel Vintiques continue the exterior’s classic look. The interior is brightened with Sid Chavers’ tan upholstery, a woodgrain dash, and light tan carpet. Classic Instruments fill the woodgrain dash. Tom chose a blown 383 Chevy to power his sweet ’36.
1935 Chevy Coupe
Charlie Freeland
Rescue, CA
“It had to be a Chevy,” Charlie told us. When he found this Standard Coupe, it was an early Eighties street rod with a 3-inch chop, gray tweed interior, and failing bodywork. After the complete rebuild, it retains the original bodyframe wood—but the black paint is replaced with beautiful Midnight Blue. A carbed ZZ4  and 350C trans move the coupe down the road. Chassis components include a Mustang II style front and 4-bar rear, with 3.0 gears in a 9-inch. The 17- and 18-inch Torq Thrust II wheels fill the fenders. Leather upholstery dresses up the interior. Other components include a Billet Specialties steering wheel, Auto Meter gauges, Vintage Air, and an Alpine stereo.

3 Ways Social Activities Enrich the Lives of Seniors
When moving to one of the amazing assisted living communities in Concord, CA, many residents look forward to meeting new friends and connecting with others. After all, the opportunity to socialize and find a sense of belonging is perhaps among the most beneficial reasons to move to senior living in the first place. Finding a community that offers a robust activity calendar, such as TreVista, can go a long way in helping seniors lead their fullest lives in retirement.
That being said, you might be wondering in what ways social activities can enrich lives and bridge these connections. Below, we’ve outlined some information you won’t want to miss out on!
Tumblr media
1.) Improve Your Physical Health
Right out of the gate, one of the primary ways that social activities can help seniors live their life to the fullest is by improving their physical health. Many senior assisted living communities in Concord, CA, offer classes and group activities that encourage residents to get up and get moving. These can range from low impact options such as a walking club or water aerobics. Other opportunities might include playing tennis, going golfing, taking nature hikes, bike riding through the local parks, and so much more! Senior living communities strive to offer a wide variety of activities to choose from so that way there is sure to be something for everyone.
2.) Bolster Mental Health
Did you know that senior isolation is a growing concern in the United States? There are many reasons that older adults might become more reclusive, including feeling disconnected from the world, the loss of a spouse or partner, and even due to health or mobility issues. Prolonged isolation can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, mental health issues, and more.
One way to combat senior isolation is to make the transition to a senior living community. Here, older adults are in an environment that fosters and encourages connection and socialization. You can find other residents from all backgrounds and walks of life to make friends with. Being able to talk and share experiences can help prevent anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns.
3.) Immune System Benefits
For many seniors, staying healthy and avoiding illness is another area of concern. Socializing actually comes with numerous immune system benefits. Not only does it help with keeping active, such as having a weekly exercise group, but it also can encourage other healthy habits and lifestyle changes. In addition to this, spending time around others can help strengthen the body’s defenses against colds, flus, and other common ailments.
Keep Active at TreVista
