Meus irmãos fizeram faculdade em São Gabriel e, por algum motivo, toda vez que minha mãe ia visitar eles, eu tinha que ir junto. Bom, talvez fosse por que eu era muito novo, mas mesmo assim, meu pai ficava em casa, poderia ficar com ele. Enfim... foi nessa cidade que eu tive meu primeiro contato com o console PlayStation. Meu irmão, para minha sorte, morava do lado de uma locadora, e foi ali que passei boa parte do tempo em uma dessas viagens. Era uma salinha pequena com 3 PlayStations.

Tekken 1 e 2 eram os jogos dominantes e também o beat’em up Fighting Force. Entretanto, não era meu primeiro contato com Tekken, eu já havia conhecido no extinto fliperama Underground, no calçadão de Santa Maria (um lugar que merece uma postagem dedicada somente a ele). Tekken não teve grande impacto em mim quanto aos gráficos, pois antes eu já tinha tido um contato com jogos como FX Fighter e Virtua Fighter, mas ao jogar a sensação era que os controles eram mais fluídos e as lutas mais divertidas. Inegável o seu legado, tanto que é um dos únicos games de luta 3D que ainda tem sequências no mercado. 

Em Santa Maria, logo eu teria a sorte de ter uma locadora a uma quadra de casa, e lá foi aonde eu realmente conheci muito da biblioteca do Playstation, até ter o meu. Lembro de ter um Grafite do Jin do Tekken 3 na esquina, nessa pose aqui...

Nessa época o console já estava com uma lista de jogos mais consolidada com titulos como Resident Evil, Crash, ports de Street Fighter e Mortal Kombat, Megaman x4, Silent Hill, Need for speed - Hot Pursuit, Driver... são todos títulos que conheci na locadora do Seu Oswaldo, que ficava na frente do trabalho do meu pai. Além do PlayStation ainda contava com um N64, que só jogavam GoldenEye 007, e um SNES que só rolava ISS Deluxe. Aliás, metade da galera jogava Tekken 3 e outra metade jogava Winning Eleven, jogo que nunca me adaptei. 

Esse estabelecimento oferecia uma série de serviços: os games, fotocópias, sorvetes e, se não me engano, o próprio dono era despachante. Era um negócio muito louco! Dos sorvetes lembro de um sabor em particular chamado de “pedacinho do céu”, que era o négócio mais azul que vi em toda a minha vida. Bota negócio bom pro meu paladar infanto-juvenil!

Vamos lembrar também que com esse console chegou o conceito do memory card, que permitia as pessoas não precisarem ter um videogame pra manter uma campanha, então eu tive o meu memory card antes mesmo de ter o videogame em si.
