MY RISE OF THE BRAVE TANGLED DRAGONS

BRAVE AU

Beware this is fucking long

I think in head sight this could be a Four Stories series - one for everyone of them where they tackle each and every individual stories and issues.

But first things firts - they have to meet and this is what Brave is about.

So Brave's plot go as Brave's plots go: Merida has mommy issues - Elinor wants her to marry even though Merida's only wish is to ride magestically into the sun.

So Elinor breaks the news to Merida - they fight - and the Clans get called and the Clans are:

• The Northen Clan of Burgess

• The Southern Clan of Corona

• The Western Clan of Berk

Each of them presenting their heirs to win the hand of the princess in a tournament.

Now, Merida doesn't want to marry ANY of them and quite frankly they don't want to marry her either -> They all got their issues and shitty lives to deal with and none of them wants to be sold off in marriage and have power and choice stripped off of them YET AGAIN.

So they come together the night before the tournament and get to know each other and make up a plan to survive the day after - THEY WOULD FUCK EVERYTHING UP - they would lose every single trial and let Merida do her "I'm fighting for my own hand" thing - 'cause if everyone loses then no one gets to marry, right?

The plan goes to SPECTACULAR SHIT though - Merida and Elinor have the really dramatic fight and the rest of the kids also get hurt in aftermath (they fight with their parents - their behavior is unacceptable - they wasted an apportunity - they shamed the clan in front of everybody yada yada)

They all go lick their wounds as well as they can - Hiccup goes to Thoothless (who's hiding in the forest) - Rapunzel goes stargazing with Pascal - Jack has a one sided conversation with the Man in the Moon - Merida runs away from the Castle - meets the witch and buys a spell to "change her destiny".

So when shit hits the fan (Elinor gets turned into a bear) It's up to Merida and her friends to find a way to turn her back while managing the issue of their marriage and their parents wrath - all of this in a magical adventure of family - friendship and love where four yound people get just a little bit closer to find their place in the world.

JACKSON "FROST" OVERLAND

of the Northen Clan of Burgess

• Jack is the first child of Senleck and Tavia Overland - Older brother to Lady Mary Overland and heir of the Northen Clan.

• He is fun and high spirited and clever - He's got a knack for pranks and never managed sat still long enough to pay attention to any of his lessons and chief training.

• Because of this he's always had a rocky relationship with his parents who found him irresponsable and not fit to guide the clan - so - even though they didn't have much hope - they kept trying to get him to study and to shape him into a good chief - while relying their expectations and care on Mary who was considered the better child - a perfect lady-in-the-making - simply everything that Jack Wasn't.

• Despite their parents favoritism and behavior the siblings loved each other and tried to spend every waking hour together - they liked to play in the snow and go ice skating and tell each other stories around the fire.

• When Jack was fourteen (and Mary eleven) they decided to go ice skating at a lake right outside the village, just like they did every week - their parents had warned them not to go 'cause it had been a warm summer and the ice was not fully frozen yet - but Mary really wanted to go so Jack told her parents not to worry, kissed his mother goodbye and went to the lake with Mary.

• The ice was too thin - Mary fell into the ice and in a desperate attempt to save her Jack dove right after her - unfortunately Mary was already dead - but Jack (in reward for his sacrifice) was saved by the Man in the Moon - a Deity worshipped by the Northen People who was belived to guide the Lost and the Wanderers in their path of life - to grant wishes and sometimes to offer second chances.

• When Jack woke up he had blue eyes and white hair - the Marks of the Man in the Moon Magic - he was in his bed and his sister was dead

• His parents never overcame the loss of Mary and (them) and even some of the townfolks thought it was Jack's fault that she was dead - that Jack should have died instead - they didn't care if The Man in the Moon deemed him worth to be saved - they were convinced that this one time he had been wrong

• So his parents start to complitely ignore his existance - he's still thecnically the heir - he still lives in the castle - but his parents don't talk to him anymore, they don't berate him to attend his lessons, they don't care if he's eaten or where's has gone - they simply don't aknowledge his existance anymore - like if he had been a ghost - like he'd never been there in the first place.

• So Jack grows more distant and more reckless - he stops attending most of his lessons - he was deemed a failure by everyone anyway so why keep trying? - He spends most of his days in town - pranking people (most of the townsfolk find him annoying - those who don't think he should have died and those who don't feel pity for the boy) and playing with the kids and walking in the snow and learn to master his newfound ICE POWERS

• Turns out that The Man in the Moon not only saved him from the ice and Marked him with his magic but ALSO "blessed" him with ICE POWERS - powers that Jack's really thrilled about but that he's never revealed to ANYBODY - people already belevied he was a disgrace they didn't need to think he was a freak too.

• But while he is amazed by his powers - he's also angry and confused by the Man in the Moon's behavior - he doesn't understand WHY he had to save him - why him and not his sister? Why not both of them? What is is purpouse? - Jack tries time and time again to talk to the Diety to no avail - he is silent, he's always silent.

• Fortunately there are people in the village who give a shit about him - Enter THE GUARDIANS

THE GUARDIANS

• NORTH -> He's a Blacksmith and an Inventor who takes Jack under his wing some time after his sister dies - he's usually the one to save his ass after some of his pranks go awry and the kid is being hunted by angry villagers- he often gives him food when Jack forgets to eat - and offers him a warn place to stay when Jack doesn't want to return to the castle.

• THOOTIANA -> She's the Village Healer - The Go-To place for Jack whenever he gets hurt during one of his little adventures and experiments (if she saw a little magical ice on him and told the others no one needed to know)

• BUNNY -> He's an ex-guard turned farmer - He's called Bunny 'cause of his mild to obscene obsession with Carrots - he still has his kickass weapons with which he practices every day - Jack likes to annoy him by stealing his carrots or fruits or whatever it is that he's growing - he never takes a lot and he usually shares with the kids - Bunny's not really angry about it (not anymore) - like North sometimes Bunny would provide meals by "not noticing Jack when he's stealing" - and he spars with him getting annoyied at Jack for thinking "he can defend himself with a stick" (It's the curved staff he tried to save his sister with - he never goes ANYWHERE without it)

• SANDY -> He's a foreigner (He comes from Corona) - one day he just appeared in the village and has stayed there since - He's mute - He's the Village's Mage (He prepares potions and charms and produces stunning light shows for the children during harsh winter days - After Mary's death he has started to prepare sleeping concotions for the queen) - He is just a safe space for Jack to land - Jack would go to him to vent or to talk about whatever it is that he had in mind or simply to stay silent.

THE KIDS

• BABY THOOTH -> She's Thoothiana's daughter - no one's really sure of what her name is since everyone just calls her Baby Thooth - She's six years old and a healer in training - She's like a younger sister to Jack

• JAMIE and SOPHIE BENNETT-> They're North's grandchildern - Jack has more or less adopted them as his baby brother and sister and plays with them every day.

VILLAIN/OPTIONAL SIDE CHARACTER

• PITCH -> He's a Rasputin-like figure - He was the Village's Mage years before Sandy's arrival - He was cast away after his spells killed a bunch of children and now is out there seeking revenge

THE NICKNAME

The townsfolks call him JACK FROST as a reminder to his stint in the frozen lake

BURGESS AND

THE NORTHEN CLAN

• They live in a village up into the mountain (Burgess) that is mostly known for its rigid and long winters

• They're just and strong warriors - known for their resiliance both in battle and in the harsh winds of winter

• The economy is based on Ice Trade - Furs and flesh from the forest animals and the gems found in the mountains

• The Clan Simbol is a Snowflake pierced by a Sword

• They belive in The Man in the Moon

PRINCESS RAPUNZEL

of the Southern Clan of Corona

• She has the power to mend every wound and heal every illness thanks to the magic of her hair - magic that has been granted by the Sundrop Flower that her mother ate when she fell ill during pregnancy.

• Altought Rapunzel wishes to use her gift to help the people of her village - her parents are preoccupied with her well being - worried that if the notion of her powers got out she could be kidnapped or harmed by people who wanted to use her for her abilities - so they keep her gift a secret and keep her inside the palace to be sure that she's safe

• They mean well (at the start at least) - but the more time the more the love and affection for their daughter turns into paranoia and fear that they turn on Rapunzel - forcing her to STAY INSIDE AT ANY COST - telling her all kinds of things about the world (no matter how ridiculous) to keep her from getting out or simply WANTING to get out.

• The thing is that Rapunzel WANTS to get out. She grows and lives trapped inside those walls - and although she loves her parents (this is an issue I know but the gal has trauma) she aches to see the world.

• But while she's still inside the castle she spends her time reading and making art and learning about erbs and medical concotions (in addiction to her "princess training") - Her dream is that (once she gets to go out) she'll be able to help people - magic hair or not.

• Also she spends an ungodly amout of time tending to her looooong hair.

• She has a chamaleon - Pascal who is her most loyal companion (her parents tried to get rid of him 'cause they thought he would bring illnesses or harm Rapunzel in some way - they didn't succed)

• Apart from Pascal Rapunzel only has two other friends - with which she gets to spend a very limited amount of time with due to their duties and different positions in the Clan.

THE FRIENDS

• VARIAN -> He is the son of the Village's blacksmith - He only gets to visit the castle when his father is called there for duty and when he does he spends his time with Rapunzel studying herbal medicine and chemistry or just chatting.

• CASSANDRA -> She is the Captain's of the Guard's daughter and a Guard in training - She goes to see Rapunzel everytime she manages to sneak out from her training and likes to act as a some sort of annoying older sister to her.

LOVE INTEREST

• EUGENE FIZERBERT -> A thief with wich Rapunzel has a secret flirt/relationship with - she cought him while he was trying to steal her crown - He calles her BLONDIE - He visits her at night and they go to the Castle's roof to stargaze -> I don't know if they're already together or not... I guess it could work either way.

VILLAIN/OPTIONAL SIDE CHARACTER

• MOTHER GOTHEL -> A witch who's trying to harness the power of the Sundrop flower. She plots to kidnap Rapunzel -> Like Eugene I don't really know what to do with her.

THE NICKNAME

She is known as the LOST PRINCESS by the townfolks because she's never seen outside of the castle - so it's like she doesn't even exists

CORONA AND

THE SOUTHERN CLAN

• Unlike Berk or Burgess Corona is a Kingdom (Rapunzel is referred to as Princess)

• The Clan's Simbol is a Sun on a Purple Backdrop (you know the one)

• Corona's known for her warm and long summers.

• The Southern People are known to be patrons of the arts and sciences - Corona's a place of technological advancement with it's artists and inventors and healers.

• They worship the Sun Deity as a Brigner of Life and Light of the Mind

HICCUP "HORRENDOUS" HADDOCK III

of the Western Clan of Berk

His backstory is pretty muck Canon-adjacent:

• He's the son of Stoik the Vast, Chief of Berk - his mother "died" because of the Dragons and now the Village is at war with the Creatures who are being hunted down for sport basically.

• Somewhat like Jack - Hiccup doesn't feel like he's the right fit to be Chief and this sentiment is shared also by his father who sees his son as everything a Viking Shouldn't Be.

• It doesn't matter how hard Hiccup tries to do good in training and to learn every lesson - nothing ever seems to be enough - HE never seems to be enough.

• His father refuses to see him and the villagers think he's a soft hearted idiot who'll never live up to his father's legacy.

• Hiccup loses his leg at the age of fifteen during a Dragon's attack - Hiccup refuses to harm the animal and the Dragon (who was hurt and scared) lashed out and took his leg - His father had killed that dragon shortly after even though Hiccup begged him not to - he firmly believed it wasn't the dragon's fault, he still does.

• Apart from studying - the only thing Hiccup seems to be good at is inventing - he's never recognized for his work but it does bring him joy nonetheless.

• Not counting his leg and his "not viking-like persona" the biggest issue that his father and the village in general has with him is his unwillingness to kill dragons.

• The hate toward the dragons goes back centuries - the village is basically BUILT on that - and his refusal to harm them is not only seen as a sign of weakness (He won't do what is necessary to protect his people) but also as a slight treachery.

• But still Hiccup doesn't harm any dragon and still he finds a friend in Thoothless - which he harms and then befriends and keeps hidden from everyone who wants to hurt him.

• Hiccup often ponders if he should just get away. Just get Thoothless and fly as far away from Berk as possible so that they could live free - away from the hunters and away from all that shame and hate - One time he almost got around and did it but eventually the shame and the disappoinment that he would cause to his father made him stay.

• When Hiccup goes to Dunbrock Thoothless is not supposed to go with him - because no one should know he exists - BUT Thoothless (who doesn't like to be left alone) follows him anyway.

THE NICKNAME

He is called Horrendous by the village (behind his back - not even the Chief knows) because of his behavior and just because of "all of him" yknow?

THE FRIENDS

Since this version of Hiccup takes mostly from the start of the first movie - I don't think Hiccup's really got any friends.

The gang (Astrid, Snoutlout etc) knows him and trains with him (like in the movie) but they fundamentally believe that he's a fucking loser.

LOVE INTEREST:

• ASTRID -> Again - they're not friends so... I don't know how this works.

• JACK -> I'm open to Hijack - I think it's cute and it could really work in this context also given the similarities that these two share.

BERK AND

THE WESTERN CLAN

• Consider everything Hiccup says at the start of HTTYD to be true.

• The Western Clan's Simbol is a Dragon with it's head off.
