U.S. Marine Corps now has two F-35C squadrons
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 04/24/23 - 16:00
The United States Marine Corps officially established the Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 311 as the second squadron of its kind in service, with the reactivation ceremony of its F-35C Lightning II aircraft held on April 14 in Miramar, California.
On October 15, 2020, the Marine Corps took a first step towards its transition to the F-35, deactivating the old VMA-311 and later reactivating the VMFA-311 with the F-35C Lightning II.
The reactivation supports the goal of the 2022 Marine Corps Aviation Plan to modernize USMC aviation. The plan prioritizes readiness, sea-based aviation and modern resources.
Tumblr media
“We are taking an aggressive approach to develop capabilities that will move, sustain and support the individual Marine, making the force more lethal, effective and capable of surviving,” said the then deputy aviation commander, Lieutenant General Mark R. Wise in the 2022 plan.
“The F-35C brings a long-range hunting/attack platform with the most advanced stealth and sensor capabilities of the Marine Corps,” said Lieutenant Colonel Michael P. Fisher, commander of VMFA-311. "The Harrier was a great weapon that served the Marine Corps well and was replaced by a more advanced and capable platform. The F-35 was designed for short-term and future combat."
Tumblr media
The Tomcats, a notable "first" aviation squadron of the Marine Corps, originally commissioned in 1942 as Marine Attack Squadron 311 at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, where it was first deployed in support of World War II.
The squadron paved the way for Marine Corps aviation in many innovative events: it was the first marine squadron to use fighters for dive bombing missions, carried out the first naval combat mission with jets in 1950 during the Korean War, was the first marine squadron to employ the AV-8B Harrier in combat during Operation Desert Shield, the first to carry out combat missions in Afghanistan
Tumblr media
In 2020, the US Marine Corps Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 314 declared its initial operational capability (IOC) for the fifth-generation F-35C fighter designed to operate from U.S. Navy aircraft carriers.
In February 2022, the first U.S. Navy F-35C crashed into the South China Sea while operating on the USS Carl Vinson. Despite this setback, the Navy remains committed to the capabilities and performance of the F-35C, which was recovered on March 2 of the same year.

Michael Bryant Hicks
Most recently, Hicks was the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at Indianapolis-based Apria, Inc. (APR), the nation’s largest provider of home healthcare equipment and in-home clinical services for respiratory diseases, diabetes, and other illnesses. At Apria, he managed all legal and regulatory matters, enterprise risk, and government affairs. This work culminated in March 2022, when Hicks and the Apria management team completed negotiation for the sale of Apria to Owens & Minor, delivering a significant premium to shareholders, while placing the business on a trajectory for future value creation. Prior to Apria, Hicks was the General Counsel of Elanco Animal Health (ELAN), a $13.5 Billion market cap animal pharmaceutical company based in Greenfield, Indiana. Hicks led Elanco’s successful 2018 IPO and managed a legal department of 70 professionals in navigating the complex regulatory environment in which the company does business in the United States (FDA, USDA, EPA) and abroad (European Medicines Agency, Chinese FDA). A Trusted Voice in Healthcare and Life Sciences Matters: As a General Counsel, Hicks knows the experience of having the FDA order a company to recall one of its highest revenue products. He has also engaged in complex negotiations with commercial payers and delicate discussions with CMS on drug pricing. He deftly managed these situations by understanding the economic motivations of payers and the FDA and CMS regulatory environment. A Leader in Corporate Governance: Hicks has designed the boards of directors of two public companies in connection with their initial public offerings, developing the corporate governance processes the companies relied upon in their first years on public exchanges. He’s been the company interface with Glass Lewis, ISS, the SEC, and the NYSE. Hicks is the leader these companies have looked to on Environmental, Social, & Governance matters, matching the values and business goals of an enterprise with complementary issues of societal impact. He’s also been the lead negotiator in two major encounters with prominent activist investors. Navigating High Stakes Investigations and Litigation: As General Counsel at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, Hicks brought to successful settlement a DEA controlled substances investigation, a DOJ False Claims Act investigation, and an FTC investigation into alleged antitrust violations. He also led the formation of the company’s early strategy in the nationwide opioid litigation. A Leader in Transformative Deal Making: Hicks’s career began in global M&A as an energy lawyer with Vinson & Elkins law firm in Houston, Texas, where his engagements included a wide range of cross-border energy projects, including assisting Occidental Petroleum in financing and building oil production assets with the Ecuadorian state petroleum company Petroecuador. He continued large-scale global deal making in the healthcare and life sciences space as the lead lawyer in consummating some of the largest deals of the last decade: DaVita’s 2012 acquisition of HealthCare Partners ($4.4B), Elanco’s acquisition of Bayer Animal Health ($6.9B). Hicks earned a juris doctor from Yale Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Trama
Recensione
I wanted to show folks that with a little imagination you can make your life whatever you want it to be.
Because life isn't just something that happens to you, it's something you create. The trick is in the imagining.
Valutazione
★★★★★ 5/5
Note aggiuntive
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Hello to whoever is reading this journal! Here is a little bit about me!
My name is Rhyse Paledino.
I am in the 14-16 year old category/age range.
I have pyrokinesis (or fire manipulation) and have I telekinesis (where I can move things with my mind by using my hands). I also have psionics, portal creation & multiversal travel (albeit I have a necklace that gives me those powers to travel the Good Omens Multiverse), superhuman strength and many more powers that you’ll find out about as you go along.
I have two dogs (Zak, a miniature grey male schnauzer & Porla, a mainly white with a tiny bit of brown and grey female pitbull) a blue parakeet (whose name is Blouis) & a neon tetra fish (whose name is Aquaman).
I am one of the original Guardians Of The Good Omens Multiverse (along with: Lissa, the one who started the group, Weston, Ashton, Preston, Wyatt, Delen & Briar).
My favorite colors are: red, amber and a fiery orange.
My favorite animals are: foxes, dogs, owls & pandas.
My favorite shows are: Good Omens (Lissa got me into it and I’ve been hooked ever since, even going into the Good Omens Multiverse), Stranger Things, Jessica Jones (I like S1 the best) & The Office (US).
My favorite movies are: Last Vegas, The Greatest Showman, Tammy, one of the Adam Sandler movies (I forgot what it was called but it was one from before 2018 I believe), Princess And The Frog, the Frozen movies (my favorite is the first one because it’s more nostalgic for me) & The Descendants movies (my ultimate favorite is the first one though, albeit I like Uma).
My favorite foods are: Tostino’s Pizza Rolls (the pepperoni ones preferably), Pizza (cheese, pepperoni and sausage), Onion Rings & Lay’s Potato Chips (or crisps as they call it in the UK).
My hobbies are: hanging out with my friends, going into the Good Omens Multiverse (using the necklace that Lissa gave me), writing in journals, making and watching videos or TikToks, playing video games (Among Us, Fortnite, Roblox, Minecraft etc.) & watching movies (I know most if not all the lines of my favorites).
I have two cousins and their names are Trace, who is in the 10-12 year old category/age range & Vinson (we refer to him as Vinny), who is in the 7-9 year old category/age range.
I also have other friends from the Defenders Of The Good Omens Multiverse (different from the guardians) and their names are: Luka, Noah, Jaydah & Jahmar (who are twins). As well as The Others whose names are: Alida (she’s from the U.K. and we refer to her as Ala or Ali), Ania, Inez, and Michael & Lily (who are Lissa’s cousins/sibling figures).
So, yeah! That’s all I can think of right at the moment. You’ll get to know me better the more I write in this journal. Also, feel free to ask me a question! Without further ado, welcome to whoever is reading this journal!
