What is Km in Enzyme Kinetics? Meaning, Importance, and Applications Explained Simply
Enzymes are special proteins that make chemical reactions in living organisms faster and more efficient. To understand how enzymes work, scientists study something called enzyme kinetics, which looks at the speed of these reactions. One of the most important terms in enzyme kinetics is Km. Many people wonder, “What is Km in enzyme kinetics?” In this article, we will explain the meaning of Km, why…

ANOTHER LITTLE WOLF
RAR!
This idea, like many others, has been sitting in my notes for some time, and just the other day my friend and I discussed it (and we will obviously continue this, as always) Honestly, I don't remember where it all originally came from, but relatively recently this idea came to another friend of mine in a chat, then I remembered the notes and... now the post is in front of you!
What if Antinous had a younger brother? Okay, this idea has been developing for a long time and is still developing, but for now we have such a number of ideas for, probably, a new AU
• The younger brother was essentially supposed to be the same age as Telemachus. (And you should remember this, you will find out why exactly ;) )
• His name, like Aphemachus, not accidental, but again has its own meaning. We thought for a long time about what to call it so that it would be cool and interesting, the very first option wasn't particularly difficult - Evrynous (there was supposed to be a joke here, but I don't know how to present it correctly in english, but you'll get the gist as you read) , but for now we have settled on "Clamalycus ". Now for the explanation (MY FAVORITE PART AAA) Everything again comes from two greek words "Κλάμα" and "Λύκος", meaning "Crying" and "Wolf", and as a result we have "Crying wolf"! Wolf, because well, it sounds menacing and we've all heard (not) enough "Wolf" in LW that my co-writer and I couldn't resist making that reference. And crying refers to his constant behavior
• Yes, the younger brother cried a lot since birth, in absolutely any situation and for a long time, and very heart-rendingly. This habit remained with him, even when he grew older. He quarrels with someone - shouts and cries, he is offended by Antinous - shouts and cries, he fight with someone - SHOUTS AND CRIES. He cries not because of sadness, but aggressively, if I may say so.
Someone: *thinks it's a special fighting tactic to confuse the enemy and defeat him, respects the boy* Clam: *just can't hold back tears and is always crying* EM... YES, THAT'S,DAMN, IT!
• Antinous and his father, Eupeithes, also had a long decision about what to name the infant. Father was thinking of something majestic, referring to someone great, but with the same particle "lycus".
Eupeithes: hmm...how about Heraclycus? No-no... Proclycus! No, Autolycus is perfect!
Little Antinous, who, after 7 hours of his brother's crying, is ready to either hit his head against the wall, or hit his brother's head against the wall: What??? "Autolycus"?!?! With such a cry that deafens all of kingdom, he is the only real Clamalycus!
• Yes, the childishly irritated comment unexpectedly pleased the father, which is why they settled on this name for the baby and the baby himself responded only to this name, so yeah XD
• And yes, there were moments when Antinous actually considered killing his little brother, simply cause the crying was so unbearable. But he never did this, but often hinted at it, no, even said it outright, so that his brother would be afraid of him and wouldn't cry and anger him (and this, naturally, didn't work)
• Also, for some inexplicable reason, these two are always arguing, cursing each other and wishing to die soon. They are like fire - no one knows who lit the flame of hatred first, no one knows how long it will burn and no one knows how to put it out. Even their father couldn't make them become friends, so every morning they start not with "Good morning", but with "I HATE YOU!", " OH, NOOO, I HATE YOU, YOU LITTLE CRYING SHIT!", " WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF I HAD STRANGLED YOU IN YOUR OWN CRADLE", " WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF YOUR FRIENDS HAD CUT YOUR THROAT!".
Clamalycus: *Getting ready to go somewhere* Antinous: Be so kind, little bastard, and die somewhere, tripping over the first stone. Clamalycus, mimicking: "Be so kind, little bastard, and die somewhere, tripping over the first stone. Me-me-me..." (๑•̀ㅂ•́)
• They reminded me of Michael and the crying boy from the FNAF series, but with a more intense and aggressive relationship. And then my best friend remembered Belphegor with Rasiel and said that they reminded me of them in some way (and then I started re-watching this old miracle. WHY IS SQUALO SO BRUTAL-)
The second part will be today/tomorrow, but for now don't forget to also read about other au's that are on my best friend's blog! It's just a miracle, really, reader! @gareleia
updated: El gave me permission to mention her yeah, she had a hand in this idea and actually helped me remember it, so thanks u SM! :D @elianzis

A New Life Begins
Of course Agni knew he would likely have plenty of nightmares following the new knowledge he now possessed of his wife and long time dearest friend being with child.
This was likely an average symptom of parenthood for everyone; Anxiety and doubt taking hold in the parents minds that at any moment something, anything could go wrong.
And that burden in the mind of the man grew as the fact that his lover was a demon and he was still simply a mortal man was added to the equation.
So Agni Michaelis found himself getting less and less sleep.
The only thing keeping him from staying up at all hours was Sebastian herself threatening to do something if the man didn’t get the rest he needed.
“Please do not do that to yourself, love. It’ll only make these months much more difficult! I need you to be in good health, both physically and mentally. Our child needs you to be in good health!”
“I know, but-”
“No. Buts.” Sebastian had snapped a little, holding his face firmly in her small hands and staring him down. “Get some sleep or so help me I will knock you out, Agni.”
So the man found himself succumbing to at least a few hours worth of rest from then on, his brow still arched with concern and his arms tightly winding around his dear princess’ small form. For even though he did as asked of him, he would still do whatever he could to protect her and the life now growing inside of her.
And Sebastian seemed fine for the days that followed, the only new quirks Agni found in her disposition to be her practically clinging back to him like velcro but not explaining why, just wishing to do so. And, of course, that purring...
Perhaps, he thought to himself, that was all Sebastian would have to deal with. After all, she was a demon and as long as Agni had known said demon they’d never, ever shown any signs of illness or the like. They’d been shot, sliced up, and kicked and punched, but Sebastian Michaelis had never shown any hints of a human weakness or ailment. Not even little ones like a sneeze or a cough here or there!
So Agni’s anxiety started to simmer and fade...
...
Until six weeks into the pregnancy.
Agni found himself being woken to a very strange and out-of-place noise.
It sounded like... someone was being very ill in a nearby room..? Yes, Agni hadn’t heard such noises in a very long time, but he’d know the horrid sound of someone vomiting anywhere.
Immediately shooting his eyes to his side, he found the space he knew his wife to usually occupy in bed to be empty.
Oh Gods.
“Sebastian?!” Agni called, unable to control the range of his voice at the moment.
The horrible noise paused and Agni could barely make out the sound of a soft panting and gasping noise following after.
“I- I’ll be right out..!” Sebastian called back, a very foreign crack in her usually confident tone. “Give me a moment.”
But Agni was not going to give her a moment, oh no. He shot out of bed and ran toward the voice, stumbling into the nearby bathroom and immediately halting at the doorway. He’d had to grab the sides of the opening too to stop himself from jolting forward.
Sebastian was on the pale, clean tiled floor, looking as if she’d fallen there and hadn’t bothered to get up, for most of her upper half was looming over the toilet; Tiny hands shakingly grasping the bowl.
At once her eyes found Agni and blew up in such a large, startled size, mouth opening and fangs exposed as she tried to say something... In defense??
“A-Agni, I’m fine! I’m just havin--” But then her body lurched, her mouth turned into a grimace, and she quickly dove her face back into the bowl.
And now Agni could see what was making that... noise.
Sebastian was throwing.. something up.
It was pure black, whatever it was, and all that came to the human man’s mind was... Sebastian’s demon essence itself.
But, why on Earth would she be throwing up parts of herself?!
Oh.
Oh GODS just thinking of that question made Agni’s heart start to hammer, terror encapsulating his mind.
“What- What can I do, Sebastian?! Please, I- I think I need to help!” He cried, shooting forward to fall to his knees beside her, hands beginning to shoot out, BUT stopping just before and freezing in place.
He tilted his head to try and catch her eyes when she was no longer clenching hers shut with effort while puking.
Sebastian panted some more when she finally stopped, looking so so different. So strange. So drained and tired...
Agni finally couldn’t help but move a hand to her hunched back, firmly rubbing it and immediately wishing to do more. So much more. Anything.
“How long ago did this start happening, moonlight?”
“Oh, not long now, I think.” She managed to finally groan out, trying to release the toilet bowl so she could reach up and back and move her long, slightly messy tresses out of the way a bit. “Two hours, I think. Tops.”
“Do you think-” Agni started, then paused as Sebastian hunched in again. But this time merely grimaced as if something were hurting her currently.
“How much longer do you think you’ll... be like this?” Agni finally finished, but worded it carefully, a little unsure if he was asking the right thing.
The demon noticeably swallowed, and the man briefly worried she’d just tried to swallow what she was supposed to be getting out.
“I don’t know, but I think I- I really need to get back up at some point.” She finally admitted.
Agni nodded in agreement at once. “Yes, I think so too, love. If there’s any way I can help..” He trailed off expectantly, feeling he did not need to finish.
Sebastian huffed out a sigh and looked as if she wished to plop her head down.
“That demoness I told you about; Hannah. I think I-” Another brief grimace, “I need to see her about this.”
“Does she live nearby?”
Sebastian shook her head slowly.
“Whenever I go see her, I have to teleport. Using my magic to reach her domain.”
“But Sebastian, didn’t you say you needed to cut down on your powers to-”
“YES, I know!” Sebastian suddenly snapped out of the blue, but quickly regretted it. The burst of aggression only lead to her body being upset again and she lurched forward once more to expel more of the black liquid out of her mouth.
Watching on, but growing more and more nervous, Agni idly found himself wondering if that stuff was.. safe to go into the toilet bowl??
Well, it was likely better than either Sebastian throwing up everywhere else or not at all and somehow trying to keep it down!
Sebastian tried to quickly recover this time. (Almost stubbornly so.) She moved away faster and tried to straighten up more.
“I mainly meant the more casual use of my powers, like to help in doing menial tasks. However things such as teleporting somewhere, and...” She took a breath briefly, as if she suddenly found herself needing to take in oxygen. “Somewhere necessary I might add; That is what I would still use my powers for. Otherwise,” And here she looked Agni in the eyes finally. “I’d never even make it to where she resides.”
Agni could only blink, feeling the familiar sensation he always got in these moments of Sebastian’s explanations of other-worldly- usually demonic in nature -happenings.
The feelings of having no idea what Sebastian was talking about.
“And.. where does she reside?” He managed to ask, smiling a little apologetically.
He really did not like being so out of his element right now.
Sebastian’s weary look finally lifted, even if just barely, to show she truly appreciated the human man she’d mated and married before her, trying his damnedest to help.
“In a cabin that is in a forest.. that is... on Earth.” She spoke slowly and almost carefully. “And yet no where a human can reach on their own.”
...
“Ah, I see.” Agni replied after a beat.
...
“... Does that mean I.. cannot come with you to her place?” He added after another beat, head drooping a little and eyes lowering.
Oh for pity’s sake.. Sebastian groaned mentally.
“It means I will simply take you with me, sunlight. Do not worry. I think it is about time the two of you met anyways.”
Finally, Sebastian started to get up, going slower than she really wished to but getting up all the same.
Agni, of course, held onto her as he got up with her.
He wished so much just to pick her up, but wasn’t sure if that was the best idea right now.
The two returned to the bedroom and swiftly got dressed for going out, no more said between them at that moment and nothing really needing said. They needed to hurry and they both knew this.
Getting out the door, once again Agni dove in to embrace the demon, making sure to catch her eyes so she knew that he was right there beside her.
Sebastian, despite the constant concern in her face and the hint of exhaustion there as well, smiled thankfully and squeezed the comforting hand around her.
In that instant, she also shut her eyes, uttered out softly “Hold on tight.”
And the two suddenly disappeared from the premises.
____
The elder demoness Hannah Annafellows had definitely expected to see the younger demon very soon, as she had been vigilantly keeping track of the pregnancy since Sebastian had first come to her requesting her assistance.
Though she had not expected to find any company with the little demon, and especially not of the mortal man kind.
It didn’t even need to be said who this human was, really, for Agni was all Sebastian would talk about when there at her little home while Hannah took care of her and helped her gain more knowledge on the situation.
But the first thing on Hannah’s mind when seeing them both there and ushering them both in was that things must’ve taken a rather bad turn and had done so very fast for the proud and stubborn little princess to bring someone else along at all.
And just being closer to Sebastian, Hannah could feel it. She was very weak, likely from having her natural demon energy drained by the life inside. Not to mention... there was something else there. Something.. similar to what she felt from part of the human man.
While her ancient mind whirred with all the possibilities, Hannah got Sebastian into a make-shift medical room of sorts she had, just for this kind of occasion, and ordered her to undress entirely and lie down on the slab that was already decorated with the required healing symbols and surrounded with refreshing herbs and symbolic rocks.
It wasn’t Sebastian’s first time lying down on it, but this time would clearly be for a more detailed examination, it would seem.
As her powers began to reach out already and search, she multitasked by finding a clean small knife and giving her own flesh a quick slice, followed by putting her wound towards the other demon to have her suckle out as much as was required.
Of course she also knew this likely would alarm the only human in the room, but that wasn’t going to stop her from doing her job.
Agni was paling and looking mortified at seeing his mate suddenly gulping down another’s blood.
“Steady on now.. Mr. Michaelis.” Hannah finally spoke to him, though she kept her eyes locked on her charge dutifully.
“Wh- What? Oh. Yes. I- I will be fine, thank you.” He stammered back, eyes darting briefly to her and then back down almost obediently on his wife.
Hannah simply raised an eyebrow.
“You are a mortal of Indian blood and Hindu faith, am I correct?”
Agni nearly jumped, staring now head on at the other demoness as the familiar language of his people came from her mouth.
Now Hannah was grinning.
She removed her arm from Sebastian’s slackened jaw and cleaned up that small bloody mess with a quick sweep of her arm.
“It has been a long time since I spoke the tongue and to someone of the tongue, but I never forgot the time I spent there in those colorful, thriving lands. Just being in your presence makes me reminisce a little.”
And yet she still carried on while speaking to him, finding the proper ink and beginning to draw the proper wards on the smaller demon’s soft pale skin.
She noticed Agni following not only her words but her actions as well. He was sharp, looking as if trying to memorize every detail of every movement. As if he himself might be able to do the same at some other time in her place.
Finally, he spoke up as well in his own native language. “What exactly are you drawing on her body, if I may ask?”
“Wards and healing symbols in henna patterns. Likely none that you’ve seen humans make on other humans. These only help aid our own kind; Protecting a Hellish creature from something...”
But then Hannah’s voice faltered and immediately dropped the confident tone.
Agni waited only a few seconds before prompting, “Something..?”
She put down the brush, and turned fully to face him.
“Your arm and hand, Agni. It.. reeks of the powers of good and holy. Of a very old and powerful Goddess.... Yes?”
“Ah, yes. Of the Goddess Kali. Why do you ask?”
Hannah reached out, and very boldly laid her entire palm around Agni’s wrapped wrist, encircling it, and then gripping it.
After a moment, smoke began to rise. Not much, but enough for the former khansama to gasp and try to pull back.
Hannah wouldn’t allow it.
“Your powers are very strong to be able to do even this to a demon such as me, Agni.. So imagine, if you can, a creature of hell being pregnant, and the life inside them not only sharing their hellish biology, but also that of one such as you.”
Agni’s eyes grew huge and his mouth parted in honest horror at the prospect. He looked over at Sebastian still on the tablet, still lying there with her eyes closed and still looking so drained..
Agni started to shake. No. No, no no. This was exactly the type of thing that he’d dreaded. That had kept him awake! If this scenario had gone ANY other way in which his beloved wasn’t a demon and his powers could not possibly hurt her or their child, he would’ve been so proud that the little one would develop his blessing! But-! No! NO! Now it was nothing but a curse!
“-Michaelis... Mr. Michaelis.” Hannah was saying, leaning in closer and closer, trying to firmly snap him out of his spiralling fear. “Agni!” She snapped, finally.
Agni gasped and jumped, blinking and looking around, before slowing looking up into the demoness’ eyes.. and giving her the most pitiful, pleading look Hannah had seen in what felt like millenia.
“Please, Ms. Annafellows. Please.” He whispered, and then took his hand back, slowly went down.. on his knees... and lowered his head and arms in complete supplication. “Please do not let anything happen to Sebastian! She is my life! My soul! Please help her in anyway, Ms. Annafellows!”
Hanna didn’t respond at first, eyes widening in shock at what she was seeing..
And then it quickly resorted to a chuckle, a laugh. Hannah quickly covered her mouth as her amusement bubbled over.
Agni peeked up from his bow, eyebrows lifting in even more concern.
“Ah, forgive me, Agni. It is so rare for me to find much amusement these days, but...” She opened her eyes and smiled a closed mouth little smile at the man still grovelling on her cabin floor. “You and this little one have provided so much in so little time. Come now, please get up.” She held out her hand to him and waited.
Flustered and still anxious, Agni reached out (and with his left hand this time) and took the offered hand, being helped up but still dipping his head a little. He was going to speak up, ask if it meant she would continue to help, but the demon spoke up first, though it was clear her words were meant for his Sebastian still over on the table, for her head turned a little to address her and her lips were curling up even more.
“Honestly, little Marquis, what have you gotten yourself into? You most certainly do not deserve this man.”
And Sebastian was indeed peeking over, as she had been since Agni’s sudden outburst, and now couldn’t help but look away, smiling and blushing and silently agreeing with the old demon.
