imagine there's a local league in town where coed teams are allowed so here they are (ok i was very haikyuu pilled and instead of drawing haikyuu fanart i draw dol playing volleyball)

i mean i think its obvious that the position they play in volleyball has somewhat of an influence on the archetype of character in haikyuu - thats how we get that "pretty setter squad" trope, setters are depicted as being cool, controling, intelligent, and generally are given visual designs meant to imply they are attractive. We see them filing their nails a lot, we see they're prideful, under a lot of pressure... you get the picture.

anyways I wanted to talk about how the "middle blocker" identity gets translated to "conniving little asshole." Kuroo, Tendou, Tsukishima, Suna, even Matsukawa.

Aone is the only real exception, but I'd like to think this means he is capable of some real vicious pranking when he wants to. and I'd like to think Lev / Inuoka and Kindaichi grow into their conniving assholery as they age.

I just KNOW Sakura would be the most annoying volleyball opponent because of his insane agility. He’s pulling off spikes from crazy positions and manages to chase down the ball so the rally doesn’t end quite yet.

He’s also the type to be VERY hard on himself if he’s not playing super well one day

trying to understand the rules of a certain sport (ik ik shut up) and it's incredible how arcane and full of strange rituals it seems compared to the elegance and simplicity of volleyball, whose rules are entirely logical and intuitive (and that i just so happen to grow up playing)

Osamu and Tsukki has the same taste in music: EDM. Alan Walker is Osamu's top favorite, while Tsukki listens to a wide range of musicians and genres. They sometimes chat together where Osamu asks for Tsukki's music recommendation, and chat civilly about music with him. Both likes each other's music taste, so Inarizaki and Karasuno is EXTREMELY surprised both gets along so well, and Tsukki does not show any sarcasm and hostility, respecting Osamu like an upperclassman.

Suna, as Osamu's boyfriend and Tsukki's new volleyball rival, doesn't know what to think about this. Every time Osamu and Tsukki interact, Atsumu hovers around him to tease.

Yamaguchi, meanwhile, finds Osamu a nice person. Osamu even promised to make him some onigiris. After high school, Yamaguchi visits Osamu's onigiri shop for lunch during workdays since the place is not far from his workplace, and became a regular customer.
