The dead deer in the lawn was kind of sort of ruining the comfy cottage vibe they were going for.

“Hitoshi, my wonderful little brioche bun. How the hell am I supposed to get our garden together when there’s a giant deer carcass in the lawn?”

Hitoshi snaps his head up from the kitchen tile he was leveling. “Shit, I’m so sorry, love. You know I’m used to living by myself.”

Hitoshi crosses the room in an instant and wraps Denki in his arms, giving him an apologetic peck on the cheek. “No more deer caracas on our property. I swear.”

He liked seeing Hitoshi after he ate. His cheeks flushed with color and he was able to relax into himself more. He was understandably on edge with his very human boyfriend he didn’t want to turn around at all times.

“The 'property?!' You mean our home?" Denki's guffaws.

"Yes, yes. My apologies. Our very lovely, deer free home."

"That's more like it. Now get that shit out of my lawn immediately after you give me a kiss.”

“Sir yes sir,” Hitoshi mumbles against Denki’s lips before sweetly pulling him into a kiss.

The taste of blood lingered on his lips, but he'd let it slide this time. Denki had accepted that learning to live with your newfound vampire boyfriend was a slow process.

Summa: {Y/N} and Denki let their intrusive thoughts loose and say what is on the top of their heads. Hitoshi pleasantly suffers.

Alarum: Fluffy smut through words, gazes, and small touches. Poly relationship, Shinkami, and {Y/N}. Minors skedaddle.

{Y/N}’s fingers pressed at a slow pace on her keyboard, humming along to the tune Denki was creating on his guitar. A random thought sparked in her mind and brought her typing to a halt. Before she allows her intrusive thoughts to take the reins, she looks behind her to Hitoshi, watching him peacefully petting one of their rescue cats, Jelly Bean.

“Toshi?” She called over her shoulder in the direction of the kitchen. A low hum was Hitoshi’s response as he brought his mug to his lips.

“You know, I’ve always wanted to choke on your cock.” {Y/N} cracked a smile as she heard her boyfriend spit out his coffee in sync with the loud wrong note from Denki’s guitar. She remains still and starts typing once again, humming the previous notes that Denki had been playing, swaying her head side to side. Hitoshi clears his throat and sets his mug down on the counter.

“What…did you say?” Aside from Hitoshi, they both raised their brows at the sound of his slow and calm voice. Before {Y/N} could utter a word, Denki looks between them both.

“I love you both a fuck ton, but have you lost your heads?” His golden eyes flick to {Y/N}’s, gesturing to his chest and then to her with his plectrum. “We literally just did yesterday. I took a turn, you took a turn, we did it together. Should I mention the amount of drool?” As the blond spoke quickly, his hand movements did as well. “What do you mean you always wanted to?” He slumped against the frame of his guitar, his eyes squaring in on {Y/N} as Hitoshi approached her from behind. {Y/N} shrugged and weighed her head from side to side.

“I don't know, how do I put this simply?” {Y/N} overlaps her hands over the other in a bridge to hold her chin as she looks down at the bright screen before her. “Since we graduated, I’ve always wanted to explore and try things with you both. Now that I-that we all can, it's just—it’s nice. Even though it's cheesy and small, I'm glad we reached that stage in our relationship.” Denki's eyes soften and his bottom lip juts out in a musical coo.

“Aww, I almost thought you were going to say something lewd, like which position we should try next.” His mischievous grin spreads across his lips. “All that trainin’ with Sero has gotten me suuper flexible. But you know that already, right, Toshi Woshi~?” Denki adds with a wink, wiggling his brows.

Their all but silent boyfriend shoots Denki a look, but the blond doesn't flinch or look away—challenging him behind his low-lidded eyelashes. Hitoshi rests his hands on {Y/N}’s shoulders, shaking his head—his amused smirk was hardly visible to be counted as one.

“You two let your intrusive thoughts go free too much for your own good,” He chuckles, rubbing his thumb over the arch of {Y/N}’s shoulder.

“Hm, I think you handle us pretty well, Toshi Woshi~...” {Y/N} chirps, tilting her head backwards to look up at him with an upside down frown. She giggles as Hitoshi rolls his eyes and drops his gaze down, firm on hers.

“Don't tempt me to demonstrate, Kitten~...”

I can’t stop thinking about a post from a few years ago that mentioned how unexpected shinkami was, and how popular it became in such a short amount of time

This first interaction happened in chapter 195 (joint training arc) and jumpstarted everything, it is not the only important interaction but it was the first one (I couldn’t find anything before that but if you do please tell me)

It is followed by this minor exchange (in terms of relevance for the shipping)

THEN in chapter 196 we get this

Which in my opinion solidifies the whole thing, but there is still not much to work with

SHINSOU ISN’T EVEN THINKING EXCLUSIVELY ABOUT KAMINARI HERE

And here we have the only other interaction i could find in more recent chapters (very minor manga spoilers if you are anime only)

Then there are some more chat and crack fics, a series shipping kaminari with everyone and fics that treat it as a rarepair so we can’t take them “seriously” (I’m not judging anyone but I have to be a bit selective for this)

There are some fics from before THE CHAPTER, and I think they interacted in the school festival, but I can’t remember and I can’t find it, so I’m taking august 2018 as my starting point

This is the first exclusively shinkami fic I could find

after this one there is a mountain of fics with only shinkami as a pairing. There is more that a work published per day on ao3, I don’t know about other fandom spaces, like tumblr, but I remember I was still anime only at the time and I was extremely confused with this new out of the blue ship.

I am and will always be a Shinsou stan and kaminari is one of my favorite characters, and while it is not my main ship, I get how and why it exists and why people enjoy it. But it was so sudden that no one could have expected it’s instant popularity. I get that we ship characters that never interacted and are not even in the same series, but im not questioning why it exists, im only highlighting how quickly it became popular, it is currently the ninth most popular fic on ao3, and immediately after that first interaction there was an avalanche of new works.
