There isn't a clear story about what it used to be (the rumor I heard was it used to be a bait stand), but it's now a very popular photography location due to its picturesque location out in the ocean and its ever-changing, very colorful decor. This morning, I was riding for a little more than an hour and the total mileage was just over 13 miles. The only hills were up and over the bridges and those weren’t bad. The route was mainly on the nice trails that follow the artificial coves of Mission Bay or the ‘boardwalk’ pathway along the beach from the harbor entrance south of Belmont north to the Pacific Beach Pier.

The only glitch today was a flat tire. The culprit was a distinct hole along a tube seam, but it doesn’t explain why I had a problem with a different tube on the same wheel in Palm Springs or why the replacement tube I put in today was also leaking slowly on the ride back. Which makes it sound like a problem with the tire or the rim. I’ll have to look more carefully before my next ride.

World Cassowary Day was created to draw international attention to why cassowaries are globally important and why they deserve our protection.

Cassowaries are a keystone species critical to the survival of the rainforests in which they live because they spread the seeds of the unique rainforest trees.
