first and foremost — hes half japanese because i remember his aside counterpart being japanese iirc and i thought that was really cool and wanted to implement that into my own little hc (also he speaks like a dozen languages bc of another thing i'll go into detail with in a bit

so many different facial features, scarring (theres a very elaborate reason for this tbh), moles, freckles, etc all bc why not?? (freckles is primarily bc of my bestie crow and now im obsessed)

lashes bc why not, give every man a pair of lashes i think theyre pretty

PIERCINGS. so many piercings. this is primarily because i am a very firm believer that tabi gets piercings done because he wants to feel human again so he finds comfort in decorating himself as much as possible for that reason and also the aesthetic

a lot of tater's hcs infected my brain hehehehehe especially the tail and his hands still being what they were when they were cursed (also. paw beans. /vpos)

safe food is anything sweet or chocolatey — he has a massive sweet tooth and is obsessed w cookies and pastries in particular which ayana baked for him a lot (ill prolly make a whole other post for her in the near future but guys. pastry chef aya. hear me out)

an absolute boss at board games, especially monopoly, and he constantly loves screwing everyone over

extremely hyperfixated on pokemon and owns a bajillion folders filled with cards worth a buttload of money, and a dozen plushies + figurines (projecting bc pokemon is one of my hyperfixes dont judge me) his fav gen is absolutely johto

his eyesight is pretty bad but like. not bad enough for him to be needing glasses (unlike a certain someone cough cough agoti)

speaking of said certain someone, he and agoti do each other's hair a lot simply because its really fun and provides some stimulation, and also because it helps tabi practice with self care and such

VERY SENSITIVE TO SOUND AND TEXTURES, often times he will probably start crying if something sounds or feels wrong

sometimes he forgets certain words in english and has to resort to using what theyre called in russian

has the goofiest sounding laugh ever and i will die on this hill. when you get tabi cackling he will start rolling on the floor and making the most UNGODLY sounds

can speak like 6 languages fluently and a dozen others in simple conversation (NERD ALERT)

he sucks so hard at writing essays but is (for some reason) really good at maths

despite being the more serious one among his group of friends, tabis a dumbass and does a lot more stupid things than one would expect

It's pretty unfortunate that Tumblr priv blogs are so limited (followers can't like posts) but since these are pretty sketchy, I prefer keeping my doodle WIPs just for mutuals ^^

Secret Sen lore. I first met my friend Aya (@/slurpn00dles) and other friends in 2018 in a Mystic Messenger Discord server that I helped mod ^^ I first played MM back in 2016 (pretty soon after launch date).

Thoughts on Jumin and Unknown/Saeran

My fave was immediately Jumin. Weird cat… I missed your cat text bubbles Jumin!!! 🐈‍⬛💙💜

I was going through all the calls and chatroom logs I did back then. Trip down memory lane...

My faves are Jumin and Unknown/Saeran (OS), tied. Saeran's OS self and my rewrite AU version of him makes him tied with Jumin. My fave MM ships are Jumin/MC and Saeran/MC cuz I favour meow meow mfs. They bring such interesting tension to ships!

Jumin is the silly rich stoic aloof CEO type who obsesses over his cat. He's a cat dad who likes sewing. He's ace spec and funny with huge gap moe. I like his emotional maturity, speaking style, and his struggles with loneliness, solitude and emotional repression. He's genuinely likeable imo.

Unknown/Saeran (OS) is also my fave 🩷 I always love cool interesting antagonist charas with good designs. His design and personality have such c*nt. Love him. Doodle is based on this Unknown/Saeran x MC Welcome screen line~

Some thoughts

Mystic Messenger is a Korean romance visual novel (otome game) that released with 5 routes referred to as Original Story (OS).

Mystic Messenger released with routes for the RFA members and the Secret Endings (post-707 route). These 5 routes are referred to as Original Story (OS).

Casual Story: Zen, Yoosung, Jaehee

Deep Story: Jumin, 707

Cheritz wanted to cater to fans who wanted routes for Unknown/Saeran and V due to their popularity, so they created Another Story (AS).

When Ray Route first released in Another Story (AS), I wasn't satisfied, like imo it's the worst MM route by far. Like wtf. I never wanted the route with my fave to play out like that.

I think Another Story (AS) is a shitty AU (imo) that takes Saeran's character in REALLY poor writing directions.

Since I shipped Saeran x MC way before Another Story came out, I just thought it was gonna be like... Enemies to Lovers, but with a mysterious, ominous enemy.

Unknown was just better as a mysterious and ominous enemy in OS. But I still think Saeran's route could've been done MUCH better though.

Unknown/Saeran (OS) Route Rewrite AU

I started coming up with an Unknown/Saeran (OS) route rewrite AU where Miyeon (MC) accepts Unknown's invitation to come with him to Mint Eye. Miyeon infiltrates Mint Eye to find out more info about the hacker, Unknown, and the place called “Magenta,” the headquarters of Rika's organization, Mint Eye.

My AU plays out more like a crime drama. Miyeon is on a crime investigation mission! It takes place in the Original Story (OS) setting and has much better relationship development, and growth and healing for him.

MC’s name is Chae Miyeon (채미연/采美蓮)

Miyeon (미연/美蓮) means “beautiful lotus” 🪷💗

I chose the name myself since I wanted to pick a pretty name meaning. I thought it’d be cool if she had a name that matches the letters MC (or technically CM, in EA naming order)

I still need to draw her. I imagine her appearance is just like the default MM MC with long brown hair and gold eyes, but she has a big ribbon in the back.

Liam - Terrified didn't even begin to cover it.  Watching her fall like that would haunt him for months on end. Even after she got back up - even after she's in his arms again, just seeing her so...motionless scared him. The instant they were back on the ship he pulled her close to him before they even got a chance to get out of their armor. Later in the night, when Ryder was asleep, Liam was too restless to do so, and instead watched her, watched the way she moved. she was alive, she was breathing, so why won't that lump in his throat go away? He’ll try to replace the image of her on the ground with the image of her sleeping, hoping he can trick his brain into thinking everything is okay.  “never do that again. Scared me d-, just please don't do that again.”

Vetra - In the moment it was the right choice. In the moment it was the only way to escape that field. “you're gonna be fine” - if sam hadn't been able to revive Ryder those would have been Vetra's last words to them. And it didn't even occur to her until she was back on the ship, in her room the mission finally catching up to her.  When Ryder came by for a post-mission check-up, Vetra reached out to them hugging her close, voice wobbling

“you - you're fine. You’re fine. you’re fine-”

Jaal - So many emotions rushed over him the moment Ryder fell. Sadness, grief anger, hope. What made it worse it that he was stuck - unable to move as Ryder lay there. He let out a choked sob of relief when they took a gasping breath. he knew that a fight was not the best place to share sentiments, but the moment they were safe he held them close.  Later on in his room, he found his hand beneath their shirt, simply to feel their heartbeat. ”my soul was crushed the moment you left this world, please stay with me.” Gil - For the first time, Gil was quiet. Mostly because he was pacing around the garage worried out of his mind, Jill on video call trying her best to soothe him.  the instant Scott stepped foot in his garage, Gil flew towards him. A fist connected with Ryder's face, before he was quickly enveloped by a hug, shaking hands cling to his shirt.

“You asshole, you - I thought I lost you.”

Suvi - When she got word of what happened, practically bolted out of the bridge.  Was it true? did they die? are they okay? So many questions flooded her head as she looked for Sara. yet the instant suvi saw that soft smile as she felt was relief. tears began to fill her eyes as she collapsed in Sara's arms ”oh, oh thank God you came back to me.” Reyes -  Unlike with the other romances, Ryder told Reyes themselves. they were having drinks and catching up - talking about the stress of the job when Ryder let it slip. Reyes gave a chuckle assuming Ryder was joking, but when Sam confirmed it, he paused, before his whole deminer changed, and his hands were on them instead of the bottle, checking to see if they were alright. “I thought we agreed on no more death-defying decisions”

(Bonus) Evfra -  Jaal is a snitch. That's all Ryder could say on the matter. No, they did not intend to tell Evfra because they didn't want him to be upset.  when visiting Aya, Jaal opened his big mouth to Evfra while Ryder was speaking with the Moshea.  Afterward, they popped by the Resistance to check on how things were going of Efvra end only to be met by him scowling more than usual - with a hint of worry and betrayal. Evfra asked to speak with them in private, and that's when the questions started flying. Why didn't they tell him. what there they thinking -  getting into s situation like that? After soothing his fears, Efvra pulled Ryder close and just held them for a moment - his grip a bit too tight. “Do not do something as foolish as that again! I - I cannot lose anyone else.”

So I, Mod Sam, am a fucking disaster and decided to build a bunch of conlangs for my WIP. One of the conlangs is Fancy Space Latin for the evil elites to speak and be assholes in. True to form, it is the most annoying language to speak.

There are six noun cases, which is mostly just annoying, but there are also noun genders, because of course the empire is gonna be sexist, right. So there are twelve different conjugations* for each noun. Oh, but that’s only for the singular form (man, woman, dog, etc). Plurals all have their own, special conjugation. So that’s twenty-four different conjugations.

And don’t even get me started on the articles. Articles are words like “a” “the” and “some” - how many of a thing+definite/indefinite. Now, this language has that, but they also have articles for animacy. So instead of saying “the dog” (tios waem) you have to say “the animal dog” (tios ayay waem). Instead of “the man” (tios gliosta) you have to say “the human man” (tios aya gliosta). If it’s a plant, or a rock, or something else along those lines - no article And of course, the words for those articles are only one letter off! Because FUCK! Better make it as easy as possible to accidentally insult someone!

Also - and this is actually kind of cool and I’m a little mad English doesn’t have this - there are two versions of “we”. The first version is inclusive (the speaker+the subject+maybe some friends). The second version is exclusive (the speaker+their friends, but not the subject).

and FINALLY there’s the “many more most” dilemma, which is a pain in the ass.

so “bal” means “little” and I will be using that for explaining myself. So “bal” is just little, but “balkras” is littler, and “stibal” is littlest. Because why make it consistent right.

I was three seconds away from making a base-20 number system because I hate god and also jesus but I decided it would be too much work so it’s just base-10 and future me is relieved.

(also the word order is a fucking mess but that’s neither here nor there and it’s only a problem because I don’t know what the fuck grammar is)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

At 7 PM, all guests are waiting anxiously. Some are excited, others are nervous, but everyone wonders what will happen now. It's only been a few minutes since the lights went off, but it feels like an eternity.

And then... Golden butterflies, just like those idly flying around, begin to amass at the top of the staircase leading to the second floor. They form a true cloud, which dissolves to reveal none other than the silhouettes of tonight's noble hosts. They wear costumes inspired by 1980's fashion, just fitting for their own temporal origin. And as expected, they start the festivities with the most iconic sentence:

The lights turn on once again in a burst, as several magical figures, servants of the Ushiromiya family, pop into existence either on the staircase or floating above it, as they bright forth a wave of applause. The spotlights highlight the Golden Witch and the Endless Sorcerer the most, as the latter grabs a microphone to start their presentation.

"Good evening, Spirale City! I hope you folks are ready for a truly spooooky night, where the world of humans and the world of witches comes into contact with each other!"

Then, Beato took the microphone. "There is no need to be afraid, however. This is an once-a-year moment, where the grotesque, the weird, the supernatural, can exist freely, without being afraid of the limitations humans bring to them. This is a night of joy, after all."

"And speaking of limitations, that includes the temporal restrictions fashion imposes to us on a daily basis. This year's theme for our guests' costumes is a Chrono Celebration! No matter whether you came from ancient times or the most distant future, show off your time period's culture and style with pride! I hope to see many people joining this fun. Ihihi!"

"Of course, we wouldn't be so cruel to expel you if you choose to go for another path in your fun. But if you have even the tiiiiniest change of heart about it, check the rooms to the hall's right, where a costume room can be found. Alternatively, you could ask the makeup crew's assistance to make you look like a monstrous being straight from Hell! *Cackle**cackle**cackle*!!"

“Beato, please, we have children here.” He whispers to her ear, before coughing and returning his attention to the audience. “A-Anyway, that is not our only attraction! To your left, you’ll find the parlor, where a karaoke system is set up on the TV. Just ask Hieda no Akyuu (@ninthmiare), who is overseeing it, to help set you up and go have fun singing your lungs out with friends!”

A spotlight shone upon Akyuu over this mention of her, as it would do for any other person mentioned during their speech. “Of course, if you feel like that is too cheerful for a Halloween Party, you can just wait a bit later. Once we hit 11 PM, Akyuu will move to the dinner room, where a ghost story sharing session will start! Bring on your scariest tales, or read some of the material provided to us by a partner of ours-” Beatrice summons business cards for Owl’s Books to everyone’s hands, much like the cards present at the gift baskets, with info about all the partner businesses that collaborated with the party. “-for maximum fright!”

“Those who’d rather partake in a more physical activity can go up the second floor, where Emma (@gracefieldorphan) and Jon K. are responsible for carrying out a hide-and-seek game! It’s open for all ages, so don’t be afraid to join!”

“And for people who’d rather enjoy tonight in a more intellectual manner, we’ll ask you to go all the way up to the third floor. A escape room game shall await those who dare take the challenge. I hope none of you will bore our dear Piper Elenmin (@shadowedstep) with boring reasonings!”

“Lastly, we shall have an ample selection of musical attractions throughout the whole party! Starting at 19:20, we have Ultimate Pianist Kaede Akamatsu (@pureryudo) and famous idol Rise Kujiwawa (@wavesang)! Next, at 20:10, we have the idol duo of Sayo Hikawa (@heroicadvents) and Aya Maruyama (@ayasashi)!!”

“Check in at 21:00 for the spetacular presentation of fellow cute blondes, Rin Kagamine (@rightreflection) and Klavier Gavin (@rockstarprosecutor)! By 21:50, it’ll be time for yet another idol to join us, the versatile GUMI (@mozeik)!!”

“If you’d rather listen to other sorts of music besides singing, just wait until 22:40. First, we’ll have Ecaterina Ciobanu (@unulales) bringing some creepy tunes with her violin! Next, it’ll be the time for Midvalley (@midvalley-the-hornfreak) to captivate us with a saxophone show at 23:30!”

“Music shall accompany us until the end of this magical night. After the stroke of midnight, Dorothea Arnault (@chanteuser) will bring us to a night in the opera, exactly at 00:20! And to end the service, we shall have I-no (@sinfoniette) going feral with her guitar! Huh huh, I can’t wait to have all of you relieving my boredom with your sweet tunes!!”

“Ihihihihi! I think we all will, dear!” Battler says amused, before pulling a more serious face. “....Before we end it for tonight, though, I need to give you folks a general warning. This is meant to be a funny evening, with nothing but positive vibes here. Light hearted pranks are fine, but violence of any sort will not be tolerated. See these?” He points to a golden butterfly flying around. “They’re directly linked to Beato and I’s minds. If any of you try pulling anything ‘funny’ that would disrupt the party, we will know.”

“And the consequences for such violations of our hospitality will be dire.” Beato adds. “We have a strong security team. We trust them to be able of handling most rumbuctious folks. If you insist on offering resistance, however, goat butlers will appear around you and immobilize you. If that doesn’t suffice, we have our higher ranked furniture, such as the Seven Stakes of Purgatory or the Chiester Sisters, to deal with such elements.”

“And if even after all that, you insist on spoiling people’s fun...” Battler raises his hand, where a small glass-like Fragment appears. “You will be sent to this Time-Out Fragment until the end of the party. It’s pretty much a pocket dimension, so don’t think you can escape if it gets to this.”

As soon as he finished that, Battler broke into a happy smile and clapped his hands. “So, I hope everyone enjoys the party! Thank you to everyone who came, and to everyone that helped and is helping us right now! Oh, and a last thing. If any of you gets hurt or feels ill, check the medical room, where you’ll receive due treatment. That is it for now!”

With that, Battler and Beatrice teleported away from the staircase, freeing the way up. They must be somewhere in the crowd now, as they wish to enjoy the party as everyone else...

Speaking of the girls they all spend new years differently. Popipa couldn't decide to spend new year together or with their families, so they got their families together instead

The udagawas didn't wanna be separated so roselia and afterglow spent new year together (they ended up manifesting another year of spending everything coincidentally together)

Pasupa spends it on a live stream in the company and accidentally get wasted (eve is once again led to ve responsible to keep them in check)

Hhw, ras and morfonica are all quick to book a penthouse room and watch fireworks with the best view and food ever (hhw even has their own customised fireworks made)

Meanwhile mygo spends it simple in soyo's house buy anon insists on having sparkling juice.

Tae would most likely stay with her rabbits, so they don't get stressed out by the fireworks. Rimi would also bring Glitter*Green to the Popipa New Year's party.

Good point! I think I should point out, though, that Basim’s weapon of choice is classified as one-handed sword

(more accurately though, it’s a scimitar – a version of which you also show Altaїr using in the screens. Except for some reason Altaїr’s looks more like a later-version sabre? Then again, there were lots of variations… And apparently the one Basim uses is labeled as “fantasy”, lol)

So it makes sense that the way they use it may be similar. Honestly, the biggest difference in the use, I think, would be played by the weight of the weapons they are using

The scimitar both Basim and Hytham use is pretty sizeable, and would weight accordingly.  Resting the blade across shoulders like this would remove some of the weight off arms, so it’s not part of showing off that Loki did

And yeah, it may be down to game mechanic that they use the same fighting style – but I’m a sucker for lore and thus will put it down to Hytham being Basim’s student. I’ve found some pretty good screens

Source here  There would be no speedy attacks with the other hand here, though - thus the bladed arm is kept away. To avoid damaging the pre-Altaїr blade (and now I also get why both Hytham and, to a lesser degree, Basim disapproved of Eivor’s stylistic choices)

Could this discrepancy in Altaїr’s fighting style be down to the fact the memories we see are experienced by Ezio? Something akin to how Eivor interpreted the events of Ragnarok through the lens of their experience and beliefs. So there was a level of personal bias to how the events are interpreted

About Ezio’s Levantine Brotherhood Mannerisms:

Speaking of Altaїr ordering Brotherhood to build branches… I think this is where we hit the issue of Layla trilogy interfering with older games. Because if we take Origins and Valhalla into consideration – then Altaїr’s people would be re-establishing the branches, rather than creating them from scratch. After all, one of the oldest Hidden Ones bureaus has been started in Rome, by Aya. And her branch has spread all across Roman Empire

And then we got a re-fresher with Altaїr

But it looks like it took differently? Because while Ezio demonstrates some similarities with Levantine branch, Aguilar is actually more similar to Hidden Ones!

He is pretty free with his gestures, and the only nod we see to Masyaf is the way his finger has been removed (2/3 of Hidden Ones vs full of Levant). Bonus point, though? Aguilar is a leftie! 

In the rest of media we see our blade wielding characters favoring left hand for Hidden Blade use. Rest of weapons are used with their other - presumably dominant - hand. Which I’m guessing reflects Hidden Blade’s use as off-hand weapon?

I mean. So far from the screens I’ve gone through the count of righties vs lefties is:

Right-handed (blade on left hand): Bayek, Aya, Roshan, Hytham, Basim, Eivor, Altaїr, Ezio (pre-upgrade), Hytham Kenway, Ratonhnhaké:ton, Arno Dorian, Jacob and Evie Frye,

Left-Handed (blade on right hand): Darius, Aguilar, Edward Kenway, Aveline de Grandpré

Ambidexterous (either not shown being restricted to one blade, or switch in between games): Desmond Miles (blade on left hand in AC1, ACII, AC Brotherhood, right hand in Revelations), Adewale, Shay Cormac (art either alternates, or shows both)

I'm pretty sure I missed people out here ¯_(ツ)_/¯ But point is. Apparently there are Rules against where the blade goes, though I'm fairly sure with Ezio pushing forward Altaїr's mods, ambidexterity became more prevalent. Given that the blades became sturdier and could now be used for blocking

I do think that would have led to etiquette changes, though. Say, left hand pressed to any vulnurable part of body being taken as sight of trust (as normally that's the hand with blade). Ambidexterous people being viewed oddly (at least before Renauissance time), since they would be technically both deadlier and more vulnurable. That kind of thing (Except you Desmond, why you switch hands in middle of your series)

To go with the glove kink ask... Imagine Desmond AND the team ending up in Altaїr's time. They do relatively well. But what gives them away at the end is Desmond winding down and defaulting to the general etiquette of someone who habitually wears a hidden blade. A peculiar hand movement there, a habitual gesture there... And neither Rebecca nor Shaun even realized that was a thing happening. Meanwhile Desmond: *is melting from joy of subconscious desire fulfilment*

The “Desmond has a glove kink” ask that influenced this.

And the one who noticed it is an old informant who works as a stall owner. Shaun loves the tea leaves he sells so Desmond gets to go and buy them regularly because Shaun and Rebecca are still trying to get a firm grasp on the languages during the 3rd Crusades (and there’s a lot) while Desmond is heavily relying on his Bleed of Altaïr.

And it’s because of this that the informant noticed his usual posture and a lot of his hand movements to specifically be of Levantine Brotherhood origin, down to the way he always liked to hide his left hand unless he was sure that no one would notice a missing ring finger (and the informant is always surprised to remember that he has all five of his fingers).

And that informant sends word to Masyaf because it’s too strange. A man with the mannerism of an Assassin but not an Assassin?

Something was off.

And who gets ordered to check this strange man?

Altaïr before that fateful year when he failed in saving Adha.

Altaïr before the attack on Masyaf where he singlehandedly saved Al Mualim.

Altaïr before he became a Master Assassin, just as curious but less arrogant than he would become years later.

Altaïr with a face that looked too much like Desmond's that it could not be counted as a coincidence.

Ryder - Ryder has SAM find out what they like the most and builds a date around that. Guns? Going to a shooting range. Theater? Lets go see an Angaran play. They take full advantage of their pathfinder status, to make sure their valentine had a wonderful day.

Reyes -  As a king of Kadara, his lover is royalty, adn they get treated as such. He provides them with a splendid night on the town, and the fanciest wine money can buy. They do whatever his Valentine wants,leaving the planet if they so choose. But at the end of the day, when the adrenaline has died and they are behind closed doors, he offers a heart shaped locket split in two, he keeps one half and they take the other. “so that even when we are apart, we remain together”

Suvi - Suvi is quite shy, so she asks Kallo for a shore leave and a bit of creds for a quiet date, maybe on a beach. Its a night full of inside joke, sweet laughter, and old stories. And of course cheesy heart shaped mugs.

Gil - Gil leads them on wild a wild goose chase, leaving trails of rose petals and candies all across the tempest, and then out of the tempest. He was stalling, okay? He wanted to put on the final touches to make sure all the reservations where still there. Gil takes his Valentine for joy rides on a race track, before speeding off to top notch casino ( and letting them win at poker) before using all his winnings to buy them anything they want. But- he does require payment in kisses.

Cora - Cora is an old fashioned romantic. Roses and chocolates, maybe a nice new jacket for them. Cora doesn't need her valentine to go all out for her, nor will she go all out for him. As long as they both feel comfortable and happy.

Liam - Liam, like the nut he is, has fun day of (dangerous) activities with various heart shaped stunts planned ahead. He trips Ryder’s life support signs several times to the point where people stop responding to it. But he does it all with a smile. When the adrenaline dies down he chuckles as she talks about her favorite part of the day.

Jaal - Speaking of going all out, Jaal goes beyond going all out. Naturally, some one had to explain it to him. but the moment he gets the gist, he goes off. Flowers, Hand crafted gifts, poetry! Anything and everything for his darling one. He will smoother them in affection and love. But as one last grand gift he plans a private picnic by the water fall, as they watch the sun set on Aya.

PeeBee - PeeBee knows exactly what Valentines day is, but she doesn't really care about it. She doesn't need some dumb day to know that she cares about some one. At first she made it really clear that she wast doing anything for it, but in the weeks leading up she finds her self working on a secret project  as she creates a special piece of rem tech jewelry. Something simple and small, that kinda glows in the dark and it totally not a valentines day gift! (it its)

Vetra - Vetra has kinda heard of Valentines day, but get the gist. So she uses her connections to get them what ever they want, no matter how rare or off the handle it may be. She also plans another stake dinner - with a professional chef this time. Dont worry, the steak is edible.

Efvra - He snorts at the idea as Jaal told him, but already began planning a gift in his head. Evfra is not good with his words, and is undoubtedly one of the most closed off Angara there is. Hes scared that if he admits that he cares, he will loose them, so the words get stuck in his throat. Instead he gives them a hand made book full of drawings and poems and lovely thoughts, each written and drawn with love. For if he cannot say them, he will write them a hundred times over.Hell, he’ll write them on the moon if he could
