Space-Saving Solutions for Small Kitchens
Tumblr media
Welcome to the world of small kitchens, where every inch matters. In this blog, we will explore innovative Space-Saving Solutions for Small Kitchens, providing insights to transform your compact cooking space into a highly efficient and stylish area with a touch of modern kitchen drawer design.
Importance of Space-Saving Solutions
Small kitchens demand creativity to make the most out of limited spaces. Maximizing functionality is crucial, ensuring every element serves a purpose without sacrificing aesthetics.
Let’s delve into the strategies that can redefine your kitchen experience.
1. Clever Cabinet Organization
Pull-out Shelves
Discover the magic of pull-out shelves, turning deep cabinets into accessible storage. These ingenious additions allow you to reach even the farthest corners, eliminating the need to rummage through cluttered spaces.
2. Vertical Storage Solutions
Utilizing Wall Space
Look up and make the most of your kitchen’s vertical space. Wall-mounted shelves, hooks, and racks can hold utensils, pots, and pans, keeping your countertops clear and creating a visually open environment.
3. Compact Appliances
Miniaturized Kitchen Tools
Invest in compact appliances designed for small kitchens. From slim refrigerators to space-saving dishwashers, these appliances pack all the functionality without taking up excess room.
4. Multi-functional Furniture
Transformative Tables and Chairs
Choose furniture that serves dual purposes. Transformative tables and chairs can be compact when not in use, expanding when needed. This flexibility ensures you have sufficient seating and dining space without overcrowding.
5. Creative Countertop Strategies
Folding Surfaces for Extra Space
Opt for countertops with foldable sections. These provide additional workspace when required and can be neatly tucked away, granting you ample room to prepare meals without feeling cramped.
6. Lighting Innovations
Illuminating Compact Spaces
Strategic lighting can make a small kitchen feel larger. Install under-cabinet lights to brighten work areas and use pendant lights to draw the eye upward, creating an illusion of height.

7. Color and Design Choices
Optical Illusions for Spaciousness
Choose light colors for cabinets and walls to reflect natural light, creating an airy atmosphere. Incorporate mirrors strategically to give the illusion of more space.
8. Flooring Solutions
Choosing the Right Materials
Opt for flooring materials that visually expand the space. Light-colored tiles or wood can create continuity, making your kitchen seem more extensive than it is.
9. Smart Technology Integration
High-tech Gadgets for Efficiency
Embrace smart technology to streamline tasks. From automated coffee makers to sensor-activated faucets, integrating technology enhances efficiency in your small kitchen.
10. Customization Tips
Tailoring Solutions to Specific Needs
Every small kitchen is unique. Customize storage solutions based on your cooking habits and needs. Tailoring your space-saving strategies ensures maximum efficiency.
11. Budget-Friendly Ideas
Affordable Options for Everyone
Revamping your small kitchen doesn’t have to break the bank. Explore budget-friendly ideas, such as DIY projects and upcycling, to achieve a stylish and efficient space without a hefty price tag.
Conclusion

what are some of your favorite "hacks" for working with an ADHD brain?
I love optimizing my house to make things easier. Stuff that works for me:
Phone chargers in every spot where I tend to hang out (bed, couch, desk, kitchen table). They need to be long chargers, so I can lie down however I want, not fold myself uncomfortably because it's too short.
Bins where I tend to hang out, always at arms reach. I need to be able to immediately throw the trash or it'll stay there forever.
I removed the doors to the pantry, from my closet, I took off the drawers of the fridge, so I can always see what's in there and reduce the lack of object permanence.
I have a ton of clothes, so I can do laundry like, once every two weeks, or sometimes in dire circumstances, once a month.
Dry shampoo and baby wipes for the times where even showering is too hard.
Snacks and granola bars when eating is too hard.
I fold my clothes vertically in the drawers so I can see them all and stop forgetting they exist.
My jewelery is in transparent plastic boxes with little divisions (they're craft boxes from the dollar store). I can see what's in there and again STOP FORGETTING THEY EXIST
The phone alarm is not enough to wake me up so I got an old fashioned radio alarm and placed it outside my room. It's hell, but whatever it takes.
Hooks over doors, in every room. In my bedroom, that's where I hang my jeans, hoodies, whatever I use often.
On the doors again, shoe organizers, the kinds you hang. That's where the hats, mittens, scarves, belts, end up.
Never closed storage, always open shelves. Closed storage is where things go die.
The hooks near the front door are for keys but also small earphones, since I only need them when I go out. (the earphones are the ones with cable because i lose the airbuds and never remember to charge them)
Cleaning wipes in every room.
Face cleaning wipes on every desk. Careful not to confuse them.
The mop is the kind with a water bottle attached where you just spray and clean. That's like a million steps removed and you can easily clean that tomato sauce stain.
So many shelves, guys, I added shelves on the top of dressers. Things I use rarely go in labeled transparent plastic bins. always transparent.
Actually everything needs its own spot. Mess comes from things that have no specific spot. I'm still figuring out how to optimise some stuff. This week I bought a modular shoe rack from the dollar store, assembled it vertically, and it fit in a corner of the bathroom. Now I know where towels can go.
The spots where I hang out need to be comfortable. My bed, the couch, the desk, there's always a blanket, a fan, a humidifier near. Discomfort is the concentration killer.
A huge pan. I need to be able to cook massive portions because I don't cook often. My go to recipe is tons of veggies in a spaghetti sauce.
Boxes to drop my hairties, earrings, etc, in every spot I hang out.
Seriously, shelves, bins, dividers, displays, presenters, the dollar store is a treasure trove of adhd tools. The best ailes are: home organisation, crafts, school supplies, and strangely, makeup organizers. The point is to find the way to organize your stuff so it pleases your brain, and make living and cleaning easier. You go with your brain, not against it.
.... that’s most of it, I think. also no amount of organization will beat medication and therapy, but it all comes together for an easier life.
(oh yeah, this might confuse you into thinking my house is clean. is it definitely not.)

Updating organization at the Adabench for the New Year This coming year, we wanted to update our storage and organization: with about 700 original designs, a couple dozen in progress, and thousands of items in the shop, it's hard to keep track of all the components and devboards we need to test various combinations. Historically, we've used double-sided totes
, which are good, but the double-sidedness is a bit annoying, or the little divider boxes for small breakouts
, and snap-top boxes for SMT components
But all these cases were sort of swimming around, and it was getting unwieldy. We're going to try to use the large IKEA ALEX drawers
- we like them cause they're wide and thin - and maybe use something like gridfinity
to make a flat storage surface so we can quickly find any PCB or part we need.

D R E W S C H L E S I N G E R | Micro Noise Lab
I recently found the library card catalog box on the left which made a great table for the Syntrx II and Synthi so I finally have them next to each other. The drawers are great to hold patch cables and do-dads. The Serge Modular is on the right with all the power supplies hidden inside that table. Being a minimalist I enjoy things neat and tidy. No midi here, just a tiny mixer that feeds the little Genelec 8010’s. The only new thing is the Syntrx II, the Synthi and Serge I’ve had for over 30 years in some form. An astounding amount of noise can be done with these devices. Hoping to add a 1010 Music Blue Box as a mixer/recorder soon. The pedal under the Serge is a Neunaber Illumine reverb that I programmed most of the presets. A truly amazing device mostly known in the guitar world it sounds fabulous. I have fun here and like having the old wooden desk and tables, makes it all feel more organic.

How to Choose the Best Home Office Furniture for Productivity
1. How to Choose the Best Home Office Furniture for Productivity
Designing a home office that enhances productivity starts with one key factor: choosing the right home office furniture. Whether you’re working remotely full-time or just need a quiet place for focused work, your furniture can significantly impact how efficiently and comfortably you work. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to choose the best home office furniture for productivity, comfort, and style.
2. Prioritize an Ergonomic Office Chair
One of the most important investments you can make is an ergonomic office chair. Spending long hours seated demands proper support to avoid back pain and fatigue.
When choosing an ergonomic chair, look for:
Adjustable height and armrests to align your body properly with the desk
Lumbar support to maintain the natural curve of your lower back
Breathable material to keep you cool during long work sessions
Swivel base and wheels for easy mobility without straining your body
Cushioned seat with adequate depth for comfort without pressure on the thighs
At Evgor Furniture, our ergonomic chair models blend these features with elegant designs suitable for modern home offices.
3. Choose the Right Desk for Your Workflow
Your home office desk should match your daily needs and tasks. A well-chosen desk improves posture, organization, and overall efficiency.
Consider the following when selecting a desk:
Surface area: Do you need space for a computer, notebook, and files?
Height compatibility: Make sure it matches your chair and supports ergonomic posture
Storage solutions: Look for drawers or shelves to store documents and office supplies
Material and finish: Choose a desk that complements your home décor
Cable management: Built-in channels or grommets help reduce cable clut
Evgor Furniture offers desks in a variety of sizes, materials, and colors to suit every style and space.
4. Optimize Storage with Smart Solutions
Clutter is the enemy of productivity. Incorporating the right storage furniture will keep your workspace tidy and mentally clear.
Smart storage ideas include:
Filing cabinets for organizing documents and reducing desk mess
Open shelving units to keep frequently used items within easy reach
Closed cabinets to conceal items you don’t want on display
Wall-mounted shelves to save floor space and add a decorative touch
Multi-functional furniture like desks or ottomans with hidden compartments
At Evgor Furniture, you’ll find modular storage systems that can be customized to your needs.
5. Maximize Natural Light and Add Task Lighting
Although not furniture per se, lighting plays a major role in your productivity. Position your desk near a window to benefit from natural light. For late hours, invest in a stylish and functional task lamp. Proper lighting reduces eye strain and keeps you alert and focused throughout the day.
6. Consider Aesthetics for Motivation
Your office should inspire you. Select furniture that reflects your taste while maintaining a professional feel. Whether you prefer modern minimalism, classic elegance, or a cozy homey vibe, Evgor Furniture offers stylish home office furniture to suit every aesthetic.
7. Invest in Multi-Functional Pieces
For smaller spaces, multi-purpose furniture is ideal. Consider desks with hidden storage or bookshelves that double as room dividers. These solutions not only save space but also contribute to an organized and efficient home office setup.
8. Create Zones for Focus and Relaxation
If space allows, set up distinct zones—one for work and one for short breaks. A small lounge chair or a corner table can serve as a spot to relax between meetings. Zoning helps your brain switch modes, improving overall focus and reducing fatigue.
Selecting the best home office furniture for productivity isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating a space that supports your workflow, health, and motivation. With Evgor Furniture’s wide range of ergonomic chairs, functional desks, and elegant storage solutions, you can create a home office that’s both practical and inspiring.

DIY Side Table
Tumblr media
Project by Silvia Song:
Finding a simple, modular piece of furniture that is reasonably priced but also well made can be hard sometimes. IKEA provides some decent options, but sometimes you just want something made out of beautiful, sturdy, solid wood. Thankfully, designer Silvia Song has created a great tutorial for a simple wood side table with a sliding drawer. If you’re interested in getting into woodworking and furniture making but don’t know where to start, this is the tutorial for you. She’s made a lovely piece with clean lines and a basic form that requires only a few tools. If you want a fun building project for a fall weekend, you should definitely try it out. Thanks for sharing, Silvia! — Kate
Tumblr media
I chose this project as an exercise to see if I could design and build a simple drawer unit in the spirit of Enzo Mari’s Autoprogettazione (self-design). I wanted to use just a few simple hand tools and assemble each part by cross cutting only off-the-shelf lumber. The biggest challenge was to find a way to work with the actual dimensions of lumber to come up with puzzle-like pieces simple enough for a novice to build, but not lacking in versatility. My intentions were to keep things as simple and organic as possible, but you can easily personalize it by staining or painting the wood. I really enjoyed designing it, and I hope you enjoy building it! — Silvia
Tumblr media
Materials
hammer
cross-cut hand saw
engineered square or 90-degree triangle
sanding block
pencil
lumber: (3) 1” x 6” x 6’, (1) 1” x 4” x 6’, (1) 1” x 3” x 6’, (1) 1” x 2” x 6’
box of #16 x 1 1/4″ wire nails
Instructions
1. Let’s begin by building the frame. Cut lumber to the dimensions below using a right angle tool (engineered square or 90-degree triangle) and lightly sand the edges.
(6) — 1” x 2” x 11” corner supports (for lateral support)
(4) — 1” x 6” x 18” top and bottom panel
(4) — 1” x 6″ x 20” side panel
Tumblr media
2. Side panel assembly: A minimum of four nails per 1 x 2 support is required. It is crucial to nail directly into the center of the 1 x 2s. These pieces will support the frame laterally once it is upright.
Tumblr media
3. There should be a 2 1/2″ space between the first and second 1 x 2s as shown in the photo. Add an extra 1/16″ to allow the drawer to slide easily in and out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Let’s go ahead and complete the frame by assembling the top and bottom panels as well. Place (2) 1 x 6″ x 18″ planks and nail them directly into the 1 x 2 supports. Make sure the nails are driven directly into the center of the supports.
Tumblr media
You should now have a completed frame that looks like this:
Tumblr media
5. To assemble the drawer, cut lumber to the dimensions specified below.
(2) — 1” x 6“ x 15” front and back planks
(2) — 1” x 4” x 9.5” side planks (one on each side)
(2) — 1” x 3” x 11” outermost side planks
(2) — 1” x 4” x 15” bottom end planks
(1) — 1” x 3” x 15” bottom middle plank
Tumblr media
6. To assemble the bottom of the drawer, use (1) 1″ x 3″ x 15″ plank sandwiched between (2) 1″ x 4″ x 15″ planks. Place the 1″ x 4″ x 9.5″ side planks on both ends of the bottom planks and nail them down securely.
Tumblr media
Here is what the completed side looks like:
Tumblr media
7. Take (1) 1″ x 3″ x 11″ outermost side plank and align as shown in the photo. This will create a lip underneath the front and back panels to allow the drawer to be pulled out.
Tumblr media
8. Then center the piece along the innermost side plank so that the edge of the 1 x 3 is flush with the front and back planks, and nail them down. Repeat for the opposite side.

Here is the finished drawer assembly:
Tumblr media
9. Finally, slide the drawer into the frame.

Done!
