Mount Maunganui

OMG what a climb and though I've done this before it was 12 years ago and I was definitely fitter then. However, with patience from the others and a slow pace both up and down, I did make it to the top of Mount Maunganui and the views were worth it.

We had started our morning with a sea swim at Papamoa and then coffee before the climb and we treated ourselves to both a few bevvies and dinner afterwards before yet another spectacular sunset at Papamoa.

Mount Maunganui is an extinct volcano and provides shelter to the port of Tauranga with just a narrow opening to the harbour. Twere two cruise liners in but we didn't see any entering through the gap this time. Enjoy the photos

The second cafe I visited while in Tauranga was The General, in Mount Maunganui. This is another spacious cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, and they use Velvet Coffee beans here.
