I originally joked I was gonna make a pinup of Mz Ruby for giggles cause my lady deserves only the BEST. Her boss fight was my FAV as a kid! I would replay it over and over again. Love her~ I'm very happy with the lighting on this!

I've been manually archiving my Tumblr blog for the past week because of Current Events and forgot that Mz. Ruby from Sly Cooper used to be one of my random benchmarks for improvement. Figured it was time to add to the sequence!

Okay, for a game series aimed at kids, I'm actually impressed by how spooky Sly Cooper can get. Been playing them for the first time over the course of a month or two and I remember getting to Mz Ruby's swamp and just stopping once I heard the music and thinking "Oh, this is different. This is actually kinda creepy." And playing through the Contessa's two levels for the first time, the whole atmosphere and the music and the scenery makes getting caught by the guards feel a lot more serious, and more tense when you're trying to hide from them, especially when you're just playing as Bentley in the beginning. If I had been playing these levels as a kid, I definitely would have been spooked.

I'm almost done with the second Contessa level though, and I can't wait to kick her ass and get to Canada. I've seen some videos say the difficulty ramps up a bit during that point, but I need a change of scenery after looking at dark and rainy Prague over the last few weeks.

Mz. Ruby! I actually forgot about her until I replayed Sly 1 a few days ago, and I needed to draw her because she's cool (and wonderfully THICC) and I'm super happy with this. The shading destroyed my hand lol.

What are your thoughts on Mz Ruby being reformed in a future appearance?

Listen. Listen. I know she has the standard issue tragic backstory. I know it's a cartoon, and we've already redeemed one of the people who murdered Sly's parents. I know, more than anything else, we just want to see more of her.

But my favourite thing about Mz. Ruby is that, compared to her colleagues, she is aiming way higher with her villainous ambitions. Sinking boats for their treasure? Extorting local villages? Setting up a casino? Hah, lol, lmao even. Mz. Ruby's goal, and I quote:

"We'll have an army of ghosts by morning, and take over Mexico by the end of the week!"

Those aren't the words of a character who can join the team with a little bit of "oh grr I remember we used to fight" friction.

That kinda thing qualifies her to come back bigger, scarier, and out for blood.

Love how you can tell when I left a toxic headspace and how the avarage quality of the pieces went up as a result. I just had a shit November and December and didn't get to draw much. I hope that changes in 2025

Well my file skipper is buggy

No surprise since it is my first. x.x

Well, I ended up finding a couple bugs in my file skipper plugin when I finally got to using it in my project. If the image file is missing it cannot open the menu to save, and if a system audio file is missing you end up stuck in alert box hell to the point you can't even close out. Gonna have to figure out how to make the errors replace the missing files with empty versions (since rpg maker already has code to create empties so no extra files needed), and maybe make it so the alert won't run repeatedly.
