The Wayhaven Chronicles—Update 02/Dec/2022

Edit, edits, rewrites, and testing! It's been a full week :D

But when I did my first playthrough, I suddenly realised just how much is in Book Three! I was choosing options and realising what scenes I would miss this time around and how much left there will be to see, and that was only doing one love interest! 

Like, I was a bit overwhelmed and freaked out about how we're gonna test it all, but I was also so immensely proud of myself. This is exactly the type of game I've always wanted to make! And I did it! It has been seriously hard work and so draining, but just playing through what I achieved is...aaahhh! I just so hope you guys will love it as much as I do! There's some scenes I am so eager to see how people react too!! :D

I'm calmer about the testing now though too after speaking with Nai (she's always good at calming me down!). It's just a question of organisation, and we have that in place, so it's all gonna be good. She's going to start testing through for me too, so can't wait to get her opinion on the game!

Yet, even during all of the intensity with editing and testing...I did come up with what I think will be the opening line for Book Four, hehe! (I promised myself I wouldn't go anywhere near Book Four until truly after my long break...but I couldn't help myself!)

Next week, the beta testing starts, and it'll be social media days! I'm actually really looking forward to that! I've got the Christmas/Winter Patreon Specials to write as well as something super special for Christmas day! 

Oh guys, it's an exciting time ahead! A culmination of years worth of work and love!!

Day 108: Still Shrine Hunting

It looks like there's a shrine in the Wetlands, which I can glide to from the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower. 

I just need three more shrines, and I'll have the hearts I want before I take on the Demon King. 

It's raining when I reach the uplands. Still, I enjoy the launch from the tower. 

I make it almost all the way by flight, and enter Jonsau Shrine.

Done. Two more. And I'd spotted two more around Zorana before as well, so I head back to the tower. 

My first marker, though, takes me not to a shrine but to a cave… Ah. I see. 

A shrine puzzle. Fortunately, this one's about building a boat. I pilot the rock up the channel and to its rightful spot, where it grows into a shrine. 

Just one more to go. Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower this time, and north to my next marker. 

No fairies at the fairy pool, but I do pick up an absurdly complicated flying machine that's just lying there, and fly it most of the way to the shrine. I have to trust the marker blindly the whole time, but it turns out that the shrine is nestled under ruin outcrop of some kind.

Archive Update:

I have exactly 180 books left to add to the archive before I make it available for public use.

If I aim to do 6 books a day minimum, it'll be done in 30 days.

Add a couple days to tidy things up, and (hopefully) I'll hit my goal of releasing it in December!

I think we as a society should bring back brotps. I think we should be weirder about characters being friends the same way people are weird about ships. Make those two characters who interacted once or twice besties. Make it difficult for them to get rid of each other even if they want to. Go nuts

Saw that video with the cool old fridge and the first comment after the OP was ‘look what they took from us’ and my spidey senses started tingling. So I checked and it was not in fact an ironic deployment of the phrase; that person genuinely believes in all the related antisemitic conspiracy theories. And so does OP. And so do like. The next several commenters except for the last, who is just part of the trans witchy side of tumblr.

And I do wonder who was following whom for a post like that to break containment to people who so clearly do not believe anything OP does, but I also think its sort of an object lesson in how the ironic deployment of neonazi memes and related shithead phrases allows people who use them with sincerity to append those comments in plain sight without anyone in the subsequent reblog chain going ‘wait hey what the fuck.’
