I'll admit, I was never on the metroid prime train, but the hype from everyone else spilled kver to me. I got second hand hype. It does look sick!!!! I'll definitely play it!

Disappointed that there was no splat, but it was still a fucking awsome direct!!! Solid overall!!!

No surprise it is my favorite game franchise

I finished Life is Strange True Colors last week. I waited a FUCKING YEAR to play it, bc of the price, and I regret nothing.  

Objectively. It is a 10 hours + experience with well written characters, INCREDIBLE MUSIC (as always, congrats Deck Nine, I have new songs to put on my depressed gay playlist), beautiful artsyle and scenery ( I really like where the team is heading to, the designs are on a thin line of semi-realism... like chef kiss) and a engaging mystery with a twist of social commentary.  

Subjectively.

- I’m so fucking gay and so fucking glad they brought Steph back. I love her since BTS and she made me lose the game with the “So, are u into girls?” line...

- I cried like a baby so many times that I had to take breaks.

- OMG this game shows how people can be assholes, Jesus.

- *spoilers* UNTIL CHAPTER 4, I WAS THINKING TO MYSELF “OW, THE WHITE OLD PEOPLE IN THIS GAME ARE SO NICE, ESPECIALLY JED.” AND THEN THIS MOTHERFUCKER SHOT ALEX! GAME U TRICKED ME!

Overwall, True Colors is now second on my ranking of LIS games. And I would recommend the experience to anyone:3 Well done Deck Nine, u made this gay demon very happy.

You had never had an attraction to someone like this, you couldn’t explain what it was. Riven just made you feel some type of way. He could give you one look  and set your body on fire, it didn’t help that he was the worlds biggest flirt and liked to show off. Luckily for you, the feeling was mutual and Riven focused his attention on you.

Riven and you had been together for a while now, you knew all his quirks and habits, and you also knew what really got him going. You were in a mood, there was a training scheduled and you did not want to go. You wanted to spend your day in bed with Riven. So to say you were a little annoyed was an understatement. The only good thing about this training was that the second year specialists were assisting, so you did get to see your boyfriend, just not in the situation you had hoped for. 

The training was in full swing and you were getting frustrated, sexually. Riven was looking way too hot for a normal training day. All sweaty, flexing his muscles and being in charge? Yeah that definitely got you going. You huffed in annoyance, you knew that training would at least be another hour. 

Silva asked Riven to demonstrate a new move and asked for a volunteer, you had never been this eager to help out, you wanted to get pinned against the floor by Riven and you were getting more desperate with the minute. Luckily Silva chose you, Riven raised his eyebrow, you never volunteered to help demonstrate. You were one of the types that liked to learn quietly to themselves. You got in position and launched at Riven, he blocked your attack and pinned you to the floor in one swift move. Silva explained the mechanics of the move as Riven was still pinning you down, you decided to tease him a little and whispered ‘’Sorry babe, needed an excuse to be underneath you again’’ He gulped and you grinned, liking the effect you had on him. The two of you rose and you knew exactly how to make this training more fun.

It was your personal mission to get a rise out of Riven. You took every oppurtunity to practice with him. Pressing your body against him, whispering things to him whenever you had the chance and making other innuendos. You could see that it was getting to him, he got a little snappy towards the other first years and looked increasingly more frustrated.

Riven had no idea what had gotten into you, but it had him going crazy. The way you moved made it more difficult to focus, especially when you kept touching him and giving him sly looks. It was killing him, Silva had asked him to help because of his improvement and he didn’t want to mess up. But god did you make it hard, pun intended. You were drinking from your water bottle when Riven stalked over to you ‘’What the fuck do you think you’re doing?’’ he hissed at you. You smiled innocently ‘’I have no idea what you’re talking about’’ Riven looked at you, clearly irritated ‘’Knock. it. off’’ He walked away, huffing loudly. You had definitely gotten to him.

You were sparring with Dane when you called Riven over, you were going in for the final move. ‘’Riv, can I try this move on you? Dane was asking about it’’ You smiled sweetly, he already knew it was a trap but he couldn’t say no to you with all the others around you, so he nodded. He launched at you and this time you had him quickly to the ground. You were sitting on top of him and stretched out your whole body over his to ‘lock him down’ you leaned down and whispered innocently ‘’Am I doing it right daddy?’’ He could feel himself twitch in his pants, you had really done it now. You slowly got off of him, brushing past his growing problem. Riven was pissed to say the least, you were actually kind of nervous when you saw the bitter expression on his face. But training was finally over and before you could do anything, Riven had grabbed your arm and dragged you off of the training fields. 

‘‘You fucking tease’‘ You were barely in his room when he had pinned you against the wall. ‘‘Trying to distract and tempt me the entire training session’‘ He smirked, his pupils full blown and dark ‘’Want me to show you what I do to a needy little tease?’’ He forced your legs open with his thigh and roughly pushed it against your heat. You let out a small noise at the contact, making him grin bigger. ‘’Not so bold now huh?’’ He pushed his thigh closer against you, making you moan. He chuckled ‘’You’re so fucking desperate’’ You tried to move against his thigh, needing any sort of friction but he held you still, breath ghosting over your neck but not doing anything. You let out a whine, you were indeed desperate and needed him to do anything ‘’Come on baby, use your words’’ You had difficulty making up a coherent sentence, especially when his lips started to lightly touch your neck before pulling away from you completely. The loss of contact made you whimper ‘’I-I need you to fucking touch me, please’’ Riven cupped your cheek ‘’Please what?’’ ‘’Please daddy’’

That was it, he was on you in a second. Attacking your mouth with his own. His hands were groping your ass, your legs around his waist and your hands in his hair as you moaned into the kiss. He carried you over to the bed and roughly dropped you. He wasted no time, taking of his shirt and your sports bra before getting on top of you again. Ok so. Usually I wouldn't go this hard on artwork for an ask bc I have SO MUCH WORK TO DO ACGHH but I've always wanted to do a family portrait of these guys anyways so here was a wonderful opportunity (thank you haha) SO. Mama and papa Darkest, Aadhya and Abraham.

They were an arranged marriage, Aadhya being chosen by the ancestor for his son, Abe, (totally not because he wanted Aadhya for himself or anything, and was a total creepazoid about designing her children, no, of course not) who at the time was a very high ranking Cultist Gladiator. They genuinely fell in love over time, but in an attempt not to scare her away and lose her, Abe kept the whole Darkest cult thing a secret, sucking her into a terrible life and being one of his greatest regrets forever.

Shortly before the birth of their first son, Abe couldn't hold back the secret anymore and informed Aadhya of his and his father's true affiliations. She was rightfully mortified at the betrayal and the knowledge that her soon to be child was stolen from her, and fell into a deep depression, barely speaking or eating, that lasted through all of her children's births, save Robin, who she favoured due to being the only one not designed by the Ancestor. (Stoking the flame of jealousy from Howard, who loved his mother very very much.)

And through the birth of every child, those many many years, Abe neglected his family due to plotting revenge against his father for what he did to them. Eventually, when Robin was about 15, he and his siblings were sent away at the order of their father to a remote cliff side house in an attempt to protect them in case his plot of vengeance went awry (spoiler: it went awry). He confronted his father, and for his efforts, got himself transformed into a Templar Warlord and cast into the bowels of the Darkest manor. With just Aadhya left, the Ancestor attempted to sway her to the cult with promises of new worlds, and new chances. She relented, desperate for any peace of mind and respite from her burden. But her lack of passion or willingness or even ability to return his affections angered the Ancestor, so he punished her by making her an anonymous acolyte doomed to worship and live alone. Sorry, Tardif accidentally kills her in the Weald OOP-

All this while Robin suffers alone at the cliff house, transformed by his siblings into what is essentially a mini Darkest Dungeon, catacombs and cultists and everything. That is, however, where he starts noticing weird things about himself (not puberty- ok maybe eldritch puberty) like wounds healing up quick, tentacle powers, really really realistic dreams of people he doesn't recognize, and a strange pull towards his old home at the Hamlet that he knows isn't homesickness. Digging through his brother Phillip's books proves a fruitful endeavour when Robin comes across a ritual to commune with an ancient, evil god. And Robin wants answers.

ANYWAYS.... that was mostly about Abe and Aadhya lmao, who are explorations on conflicting parenting. They each adore their family, but have made irredeemable mistakes in the form of neglect and favouritism. And also keeping huge cult secrets from your wife. That was really fun to type up, and thank you again for sending me asks, it really keeps me going!!!

Hey, did you saw the film theory on Invader Zim on Membrane that Low-key makes sense

NO. IT. DOESN’T!

Okay, maybe this is my personal bias shining through, because I really don’t like Mattpatt sometimes... No. Okay, I have nothing against the guy personally. More frankly, I don’t like his fanbase or the way he structures his videos.

The way Mattpatt words and structures his videos acts like he’s the first person who thought of this idea, it’s the main contributor to why I stopped watching his videos a long time ago.

He speaks in a lot of rhetorics and strawman arguments rather than just saying what he wants to say. Like “If you don’t believe me... look no further then...” and that’s the one thing I ABSOLUTELY HATE on theory videos.

And some of Mattpatts own theories he doesn’t take seriously, but this is what you get when you base your INCOME off of youtube ad revenue and browse the reddit forums for new ideas. A completely monopolized way of theorizing. (and this is why there are several paragraphs in my current chapter of Tech Support of Zim’s Computer complaining about the concept of youtube entertainment in general.)

Sure, I don’t think Mattpatt will run out of theories... but I really hate the structure of his videos follows along strawman arguments, acting like he’s always arguing with an imaginary audience for entertainment value rather than just say what he wants to say.

That, and people will often cling to theories of someone with good editing software and a youtube channel then Their own opinions.

Something that I learned was incredibly dangerous to do. I learned my lesson with “That Guy with the Glasses dot com” and I don’t plan to act like I know something or am better than someone else cause I agree with someone who said something on youtube once.

I do watch Internet reviews and theory videos for entertainment, but that’s all they are to me. I don’t like to watch youtube videos to give me opinions on how I feel about things. And I seriously think a wide margin of his subscribers lack critical thinking skills at times, as well as a majority of the youtube audience, or from what I’ve seen in the comment section.

However, remember... These are just my thoughts on the matter... My thoughts are not law and I never claim them to be.

Like when I first joined the fandom and posed my GIR analysis questions... I even said:

“I don’t know if the fandom has talked about this in depth or not... I just got here... or if someone put it into this many words before but...”  

Also... the thing that bothers me about his Invader Zim theory...

A lot of Mattpatt’s sources are just..... Wrong...

Okay.. “Membrane is an Irken” this has been a popular fan theory since before I even entered the fandom and there are old fics about this. I have read Irken Membrane stories before.

It’s not personally my cup of tea, but it’s fun to think about.

But the straws Mattpatt grasps in his video.... Really upset me because there is some thought to the theory back in the day.. ... Like back in 2002??? but like.... NOW?!

Okay, I’ll pick apart this a little... bit by bit...

He says that Membrane takes a hard stance against anything paranormal.

Kinda... but no.. Membrane never outright denies the existence of aliens. (except in ETF... which he mainly says out of frustration...) This is what Membrane says about “there are no aliens” in the show:

Membrane just says that there are no “intelligent” aliens...None that are able to travel the massive distance to Earth, anyways... If aliens existed at all, (like the cryptoids Dib talks of) they would have traveled the distance to the planet and communicated with them by now.

However, this is a nitpick of a minor issue. One that a majority of the fandom tends to overlook when viewing Professor Membrane and Dib’s relationship in general. 

And I do find it weird that he used this for evidence when he cut out the most important snippet from the full lecture he gives Dib here.... JUST to support his claim... as if he’s intentionally leaving that part out.... hmmmm

However, I can let this slide, because it’s a nitpick and really doesn’t change anything that Membrane is very dissuasive of Dib’s alien-hunting hobbies. (I have a theory as to why and I explain it here in my own way)

The point is, Membrane is dismissive of anything alien... maybe because he’s an Irken...okay, good, yes. fair. 

A lot of Mattpatts claims from then on are pretty solid, and I won’t bunk them with “But in my headcanon/Fanfic verse...”  Because what he is saying is all true.

Membrane denying the existence of aliens even after being taken to space jail doesn’t have much of an explanation and is played for comedy and there are many ways you can go with this, and I am not going to bring up my fanfics or my own headcanons to argue with him here.

Because there is no explanation, and he is going with the “Membrane is Irken” theory... So that’s very solid when he’s talking about Membrane denying the Hallucinations. 

Mattpatt claimed that Membrane wore his face covering at all times and had been dressed this way since he was a child.

I will not deny this. This is true.

However, isn’t bringing up Membrane’s childhood kinda put a hole in your own argument?

MEMBRANE WAS A CHILD.

He had been shown to have childhood memories in the comics and the show.

Irkens don’t really have a “Childhood” per say, at least not in the way that humans do. They are a smeet, then elite, then Invader..

If he’s claiming that Membrane came to earth as an Irken SMEET....How, why, and when? 

That kinda raises more questions than it answers.... What are you proving by bringing up Membrane’s baby pictures on Earth exactly? It kind of works against your own argument? 

Saying that they’re Irken because they all have the same hair.... that’s just stupid... and he’s citing the Invader Zim wiki on this .... oh boy.

Yeah, Like before I watched the show I thought Dib and Disguised Zim were the same character or brothers...

But I don’t think character design here is a solid enough reason in this case... At least not when it comes to the hairstyles... That’s a stretch.

“Hmmm Membrane’s hair forms an M shape... What could the M stand for? Mirken?! SUSPICIOUS!” (this is just a joke)

Also... the lack of ears thing... He did say it would be hard for Membrane to hear if his headpiece was covering his ears, but not necessarily... The entire thing is a headset and he is the man of science, he can really do whatever the fuck he wants cause Science is like magic in a show like this. So if Membrane wears a headset that doesn’t obstruct his hearing at all, I can buy it... Also.. it’s equally possible his ears got blown off in a chem lab accident or he’s legally deaf and that headset acts as a hearing aide and HELPS him hear... 

Actually, I always noticed how in Membrane’s original design from the show, the headset looked a lot like a hearing aid. Specifically one with a head clip, It’s one of the things I first noticed about his design in the show.

And it’s just something I always assumed because he’s a scientist who deals with explosions in his face on a daily basis... (in fact he experiences one in episode 2B) So on first viewing, I thought that his headset served as a hearing aid as well as prescription glasses and a communication device. 

I’m just throwing out possibilities because the “lack of ears” is also kinda a stretch.

Mattpatt complaining about “lack of nose” however... Okay, yeah I’ll give him that one. It’s a character design choice that is a little odd for Professor Membrane, but it does fit with the Irken theory, since a majority of human characters, in fact, all have noses. So, Yes the “lack of nose” does fit more into the Irken theory. 

However.... Florpus anime Membrane DOES have a nose...

Meant to be drawn in a more semi-realistic artsyle, you can clearly see the bridge of his nose here.

And he looks very similar to anime Dib... Sooooo... Shrug-city... 

It’s likely that Membrane not having a nose in the show is simply a stylistic choice than anything else. Basically, the bridge of the nose is there... we just don’t see it.

Especially since Nightmare Membrane has a nose as well..

Membrane is like Home Improvement’s Wilson. We will never see his face, and that’s part of the gag. The man probably sleeps in his labcoat honestly...

I also find the voice pattern thing a bit of a stretch. Membrane and Zim are just eccentric characters who yell to emote or emphasize a point or emote stronger. And Membrane’s inflections are never the same as Zim’s.

Remember, no other Irken TALKS like Zim. Professor Membrane doesn’t really go around screaming: “I AM PROFESSOR MEMBRANE” either..... 

If anything... it just kinda proves both characters have auditory processing issues or hearing problems more then anything.

And there is a lot of screaming on this show.... Screaming from Dib, screaming from Membrane, Screaming from GIR, screaming from Zim... Screaming is funny... and characters scream so much that the characters with their mouths wide open is somewhat a staple of the show.

This is more because of Johnen Vasquez’s voice direction...

Especially since no other Irken really talks like Zim..

Zim’s manor of Speach is strictly a Zim thing and not an Irken thing.

Professor Membrane’s manner of speech is simply a Membrane thing and not a human thing.

I will give Mattpatt that. That a lot of tech in the show looks similar to Membrane’s. I feel this is mostly a stylistic choice, but it really does fit in with the Irken theory. 

Like that Zim just so happens to use the same operating system as Dib is played off as a joke. But it does add some small credence to the theory here... I need to point out when he does get it right... some pats on the back.

These are very good points and does follow through with what he’s trying to prove by the end of the day.

(even if Membrane was lying about the destruction of all mankind with the beans thing, but that’s a minor nitpick here) 

But his entire paragraph comparing Membrane’s tech to Irken tech is a really good one. Props there.

This whole paragraph about there being only Tall or short irkens cause their society is height based and there are no “medium-sized” irkens....cause they were “dealt with”

Okay.

....

Sure Mattpatt. Let’s just entirely ignore the existence of the Frylord and this entire character even though you mentioned it in the synopsis at the start of your video... Showing that Taller irkens are in positions of power against the shorter, also... Zim is a tiny irken... there are many Irkens that stand taller then Zim.

Being tall in Irken society is a rarity, and Almighty Tallest Purple said that he and Red “became” the Tallest. How? We don’t know, but we do know at one point the current Tallest looked like this:

How do Irkens get that Tall? Body modifications? Maybe... it’s never explained, but considering the Frylord is super big and probably eats a lot of snacks might have something to do with it. We don’t know.

It’s safe to say that being Tall in their society is a rarity and Tallests are either born or made special from the cloning chamber from the get go.

Not to mention, Membrane is Taller than the current Tallest are already...

 and you said earlier in the video that Membrane would have gone to Earth as a child...

When he was no taller than a wrapped Christmas box of socks...

So why would Membrane take refuge on Earth at this point? Mattpatt says that Membrane was sent on a mission to Earth because the Tallest felt threatened by his rule...

What do they have to be threatened by? 

Because... Mattpatt DID bring up Membrane as a child earlier in the video... meaning Membrane came to earth when he was about the same size as Zim.

SO THEY HAD NOTHING TO BE WORRIED ABOUT AND HAD NO EVIDENCE TO BELIEVE MEMBRANE WOULD GROW TO BE TALL ORE EVEN VIEW HIM AS A THREAT

You bunked your own argument. Congradulations.

Membrane conquered the world through his inventions. In a way, sure. Membrane Labs does own a lot of stuff. But he doesn’t own everything. A majority of the Corporations that keep the population stupid usually don’t have anything to do with Membrane Labs and aren’t affiliated at all. 

But this does fit into the “Membrane is an Irken” theory so I will give him that one.

However, Membrane being an evil corporate dictator is a hot take I never really appreciate at all and I can never get behind it.

It hits too close to home in the real world, and I always like to view Membrane as a self-made man and a World loving hippie at his core who just wants to make the world a better place, much like his son, but he actively does something about it. (which can also be why he encourages Dib with real science so much cause he knows Dib wants to save the Earth as much as he does)

Just calling Membrane a capitalist billionaire that doesn’t care about the little guy kinda seems disingenuous towards his character for me. 

Especially when Membrane in “Ten Minutes to Doom” created a machine (foodio) that completely end world hunger... which was in BETA in the unreleased episode...

 but by the time the movie rolls around... Foodio exists... past his BETA, meaning that he’s probably no expensive than a common household microwave and can materialize food from nothing:

Yeah. Membrane completely ended world hunger off-screen. thanks. (something no capitalist would ever do...)

Membrane also does appearances for charity (in the comics), and often takes funding for sponsorships when he is low on funds and he had to find a cure for pig mouth. 

Sure “Membrane conquered the world” fits the Irken theory...

But I never appreciate that take on his character and that is admittedly, very personal bais. 

I just wanted to say my peace a little bit here about how I 100% don’t vibe with the “Membrane capitalist/billionaire scum” especially since he ended world hunger...and invented a cure for the un-common cold.

Works for the theory, so good on Mattpatt for that one, but I personally don’t vibe with it.

Mattpatt compared Zim and Dib’s head shape as something to argue... Like because Dib has a similar head shape to Zim... that Dib has to be an alien... Okay... But If you look at the Invader Zim artbook (which I own)

The show has a very distinct look on how they draw characters’ heads. It’s a very distinct stylistic choice and there are pages upon pages in the artbook describing the style and how it looks in motion, and many revision notes to the Korean animators.

There are lots of pages on the artbook describing in detail the differences between the main characters’ heads, what to do, and what not to do.

It’s a difficult style to replicate, and Dib having a big head was mostly a joke from the showrunners to the showrunners, cause they kept drawing Dib’s head slightly bigger to make him look more appealing.

A majority of the audience doesn’t really notice because all the children in the show have big heads. All the kids are like 3-4 feet tall and have huge heads. 

Also... Dib’s head is far more rounder then Zim’s in the comics and the Movie... comparing their head shape as an arguing point, when Dib’s head shape changed midway season 1 when the designs got slightly more streamlined is just... bad form..

Dib and Zim’s heads never really look the same from the early episodes as they do later on.

Comparing this character design similarity just because of the artstyle is really stupid.

This is the most infuriating thing about the video... because Mattpatt disproves his own argument with his own footage not a few seconds earlier. 

He claims that Gaz sarcastically mentioning she has a squeedly spooch is a canon fact...... but ... hmm.. Mattpatt... can I rewind the footage of your video, please?

Where’s her squeedly spooch?

IS IT BEHIND HER CLEARLY HUMAN ORGANS?! I DON’T SEE IT?

And this isn’t just a stylistic choice... here’s a picture of another human’s organs for comparison.

Mattpatt literally disproved his own argument and ignored the fact that we saw an X-ray of Gaz’s organs in the very same episode...

Gaz doesn’t have a squeedly spooch and she literally was being sarcastic.

and the whole thing is disproved very easily.

Everything Mattpatt says in between those two points, about Dib being taken aboard an alien ship as a baby, and that there is no mother, and the Clone theory... That is all good stuff and this is what the theory video should have speculated and focused on, because there is some digging to be had here... I feel he focused a lot on the wrong points in his video...

And this is the most outrageous point he makes in his video. It’s the thing that pissed me off the most... and lead me to write this essay in the first place.

He claimed Eric Trueheart himself confirmed the clone theory and had story plans where Dib would discover his clone origins.

HE DID NOT!

IN FACT, Eric Trueheart himself published Volume One of the Invader Zim script book AND THIS IS WHAT HE SAID:

Eric neither confirmed nor denied the rumor.

But for Mattpatt to blatantly say that Eric said that Clone Dib was a planned thing by the screenwriters?!

He is BLATANTLY putting words into a Screenwriter’s mouth! Something that you should NEVER do.

Because it is 100% a lie.

He had no source for this claim. He probably just read the same rumor on the wiki and has no source.

This is the reason why I don’t trust videos like Mattpatt. The truth is often stretched for entertainment value, or information is just made up to prove “they were right” about whatever the topic of the day was. He doesn’t even bother to cite the source he got “Eric Trueheart’s word of mouth” from... because it was wrong.

Sorry if this whole thing is more hostile than it intended to be... But Mattpatt was looking at the ENTIRELY wrong evidence for this show....

Irken Membrane is a fun theory... but Mattpatt picked the entirely wrong topics and points of discussion, even to the point of hiding the truth and straight-up lying to his audience about his sources.

It’s kinda like saying “Birds eat ghost peppers because they’re part dragon and dragons can handle spicy food”

While, yeah, Birds are descended from dinos, it’s kinda missing the full story there and it’s not the reason why birds can eat spicy food.

Irken Membrane is a fun fan theory... do what you want with it. I am not here to dissuade Irken Membrane headcanons...

I’m just here to encourage critical thinking, and perhaps NOT put words into content creators' mouths when there is no credible source for it just because it benefits your argument.

Part 6

Modern!Ivar x Curvy!Reader, Able-bodied! Ivar, Dark!Ivar 

Warnings: Depression, starving, sucidal thoughts. 

Summary: Y/n is stuck in her head about everything that happened, but still agrees to go on the trip with Ivar, she makes a shocking discovery about herself.

Third Person POV

In the days leading up to the party Y/n barely moved out of bed, in the meantime Ivar prepared them both to leave. He has had two plane tickets ready since the party was announced. 

He got her a new dress, shoes, makeup or anything she ever could have wanted, he wasn’t trying to buy her love. But it sure as hell looked that way. 

“Little dove, please eat. You haven’t eaten in three days.”

“no thanks, im not hungry.” her voice was small and fragile. 

The past few days, her mental health had rapidly been declining. She was headed back to the darkest period of her life, and she felt as though she couldn't stop it. It broke Ivar’s heart seeing her like this. She had no energy or motivation to get out of bed. He could not get her to eat, he would listen to her quietly sob while he laid next ot her in bed. The worst part is it was all his fault, he had caused this. 

Her head was filled with vile thoughts. 

‘everyone that walks into your life makes you worse then you were before’

‘no one truly loves you, they all want you for something and will drop you the second they’re done with you’

‘Mom and Dad didnt even care you left in the middle of the night, and now you’re stuck with the guy who stalked you’

‘he doesn’t care about you at all, thats why he trapped you here’

She couldn’t get the voices to stop. She thought at this point she would be better off dead, she would never find happiness in her life, she would never find someone that would truly love and cherish her. She thought this was her happily ever after, but it was her worst nightmare. 

“Little dove, please sit up” she obliged, she had only been out of bed to go to the bathroom and shower. She sat up and Ivar gently held a spoon to her mouth. She opened her mouth and began to slurp the soup off the spoon. 

He could have been hand feeding her poison and she would not of cared.

But it wasnt, it was broccolli cheddar soup, from her favorite restaurant downtown. She had never told him how much she loved it, he knew, from when he stalked her. Just thinking of that made her shiver away and a tear to roll down her cheek.

Seeing her cry saw made his heart shatter into a million pieces. 

“Little dove please, we need to talk.” 

“About what?” her voice cracked slightly.

“everything, i know you dont trust me and you have no reason to, i know what i did was terrible. I should have asked you out when i saw you that first day. I just thought you would never like a guy like me.”

“What do you mean a guy like you?” “im weird, im a nerd. I dont talk to anyone. I live in a house in the middle of the woods because im secluded, people hated with me growing up, even my own father hated me. I have only ever had one person in my life love me unconditionally and she isn’t here anymore. I am a man with a lot of baggage and a lot of hurt. I didn’t think you wanted to deal with it.” 

Her eyed softened, he was broken. Just like her. 

She sat up a little straighter and put her hand gently on his. This action shocked him. 

“ivar, i have a lot of baggage, but you still wanted me. It still shocks be everyday that you wanted me as much as you did-”

“i still want you, i want to protect you.” “you dont always have to protect everyone else, sometimes you need to be protected yourself.” 

“y/n, i love you. I would do anything to have you love me back. I understand how desperate that sounds too.” he chuckled slightly at himself.

“Ivar i told you im starting to fall in love with you. I love being around you, those days where you were yourself arond me, you mesmorized me. You intrigued me, you made want to learn every single little quirk about you. I agreed to go on this trip with you to see if i could get over what happened.” 

“seeing you these part few days hurt my heart, and knowing it was my fault i couldnt believe myself.” 

“my thoughts took over and im sorry, it wasn’t fair to you.” 

“no please do not apologize, it was my fault. what thoughts were you struggling with?” 

“the thought that no one in my life will truly love me and that the world would be better if i wasnt in it.” before she could finish his arms were wrapped aournd her, holding her tight to his chest. 

“i need you here, you make my world so much brighter.” he whispered in her ear softly. 

*12 hours later* 

“ivar im sleepy”

“i know love you can sleep on the plane.” Ivar kissed her head that was leaning gently on his shoulder as they stood in the line for security in the airport. 

When it was time for them to board their flight Ivar watched Y/n’s eyes light up

“excited to fly baby?”

“no i excited to go to sleep!” Her voice sounded like a childs, it made him giggle. 

“First class now boarding.” came over the loud speaker. Y/n didn’t move, she was waiting until the announcement for coach seating came. 

But she felt Ivar tugging on her hand, she gave him a confused look. 

“oh Little Dove, you didn’t think that i would give you anything less than the best.” 

Now, Y/n knew Ivar had money. Not just money, but like money money. SHe was still shocked. They were led to their seats, or rather their beds. 

“These are full beds!” Y/n exclaimed. Ivar giggled and sat down and held her hand. 

“now you can get your sleep, beauitful.” Y/n climbed into her side and she put down the divider between them. Ivar got comfortable on his side, not pushing his luck trying to hold her.

But he felt Y/n curl into his side, he felt her breathing steady he knew that she was drifiting off to sleep. 

He held her close as they lifted off into the air, he fell asleep holding his girl for the long plane ride they had ahead. 

Once the plane had landed y/n felt more awake and energized then she had in a couple days. Seeing her so full of life made Ivar’s heart melt. 

His rental car was waiting for them at the airport, of course he couldnt just get a normal car. A BMW, very similar to the one he owned back in the states was there ready for him. He of course opened the door for Y/n and wouldnt let her help pack the car.

Once they were on the road, Y/n looked mesmerized as she watched the Danish countrside pass by. She loved seeing the transition of the quiant countryside to the city. 

When they pulled up to the hotel Y/n was again shocked at how beautiful it is, she couldn’t even begin to think about how much he had spent. Vallet and bell hops came to take the bags and move the car. 

Y/n grabbed Ivar’s hand which shocked him, but he was not complaining. they walked into the lavish lobby and were immediately greeted. 

“Mr. and Mrs. Ragnarson, your room is ready.” The man handed Ivar the room key and shook his hand. Ivar guided her over to the elevator and said 

“sorry about that, i booked the honeymoon suite” he blushed slightly, he didnt want to admit that to y/n but he was forced to. 

“no its okay it was cute, why did you book that one?” 

“it has the most beautiful veiw, not only did i want you to see it but i wanted to expirence it with you.” the blush on his cheeks made y/n’s heart burst. She was falling hard for him, and was slowly getting over everthing that had happened. 

As ivar opened the door to the room, the floor to ceiling windows were the first thing she saw. Her mouth hung wide open, the sun was setting and the lights were beginning to flick on all over the city. Y/n slowly walked over to window and just watched in amazement. 

Ivar walked over and wrapped his arms around her waist and leaned his chin on top of her head. 

“this is the most beautiful view i have ever seen” Y/n whispered. 

“You are the most beautiful veiw i have ever seen” Ivar whispered back to her. 

This was the moment she knew she was not getting over him.

The light crept through the curtains. Morning seems to come earlier. Ubbe yawned softly as he maneuvered to stretch without moving the other half of the bed, for on the other side of the bed was his world. Ubbe was always destined to be a father, it was something he had yearned for ever since he could remember but the day was here now. The tiny nugget of a baby lay in the middle of the bed. Her tawny hands had captured his attention, one in her head of curls the other in the beside her. She was perfect and it was no other way he could see her. Ubbe turned on his side watching her do that little grunt he had coined his favorite sound from her. It was right before a cry but not fully there. He paused watching her little face crinkle with an oncoming fit. Shit. Cry.

His eyes leave her for a moment as he assesses the room in a near frantic. Long had he cared for the children when Bjorn had his lot. It came naturally for him, he was the best uncle Kattegat had to offer, but that wasn’t his role now. If a child cried he could no longer hand it off to his mother or Torvi like it was a product gone bad and demand a new one. He had to handle it. He didn’t know where you had gone, just that you weren’t beside him at the moment. Your keys were still on the white dresser, and your shoes were still in their coveted area near the door. The baby shifts and for the first time that day she opens her eyes. The new light to her makes her lip curl, eyes squint together in a line and then the cry comes. The one he had dreaded for a while. The little body started a squeal louder than he ever heard and Ubbe’s reaction was too small. There was his alarm. He pushed up from his comfortable position on the bed gently lifting the seven-pound prize from the bed. “hey little woman.” His face teamed with heat as the crying continued. Was he going to be able to do this? The wailing continued as he held her before him, he cradled her little head in the palm of his hand and supported the rest of her body with the other. “Hey, stop it now. Your knight is here.” You could hear him talking to her. His deep morning voice filled the apartment and that accent. You poured the milk into the bottle and placed the bottle in the warmer. All of your instincts told you to go back into the room. He does not know what the hell he is doing, but you wait. “Shh,” he nearly whispered. “I can sing to you.” And like it was nothing she calmed down at the sound of him singing to her. The tune of Wheels on the bus filled the air and the biggest grin forms on your face. Superdad he was indeed. There were several things attractive about Ubbe. The first for you were those Lothbrok eyes, passed down from his father, they gave all his emotions with just one look. The second would be the way he treats you, every day was the first date with him and you loved it. But now it was him with Annalise. It didn’t surprise you that he wanted to spend every waking moment with you during the birth. He wouldn’t move, held your hand… kissed your forehead. He breathed for you sometimes you even think. But at the first cry, he turned into her superhero. The doctors were working with you and immediately he stood at your head showing you the little masterpiece you both had created and soothing you and her. He turned into the perfect man. The chimer buzzes and you take the bottle from it. You sprinkle the milk on your forearm then shuffle back into the room. Annalise was staring at him as he sang to her. The little eyes were wide open and her hand in her mouth. “There she goes, the woman of the hour.” He smiled peering up at you. He cracked a smile and brought her into his arms. “She comes bearing gifts little woman.” “I was trying to beat her cry.” You move into the room taking a seat in front of him and hand him the bottle. “There you are.” “Thank you, mom.” He placed the bottle at her lips and she latches on hungrily drinking down the bottle. “This has to be the life my dad was always talking about.” “What life is that?” I move the short strand of blonde hair from his head as he looks down at her with pure admiration. “Cherishing every sunrise.” Your cheeks burn as the red feel them. He had to stop, you were way to hormonal for this. “You’re adorable, you know that right?” “I guessed.” He smiles at you and then he’s back on the baby. “I could handle waking up to this for forever.”

(Me explaining my dream in your artsyle)

Okay, how do I explain this? The dreams started out later on and then kinda filled in the past years after a while so I'll see if I can start from where it began

So at the age of 13 (It was very specific on ages and yet not the timeline qwq) Dib and Zim both are kidnapped by the tallest, who need some sort of weapon to be built and it takes both a human and an irken to make (idk man dream logic) and Zim and Dib are the only human and Irken to ever work together on something, so they were their best bet. (Irkens and their pride and all)

During this they kinda become friends and talk to each other about each of their lives. (You can imagine that Zim was constantly telling him how "lucky" he is to be making something for the tallest as a worthless meat baby) They are actually really quick friends, and needless to say, Dib is pretty pissed at the tallest since y'know, they are complete assholes to Zim, remember that time they made him go through a bunch of shit just to protect a god dang cheeto that was worthless to them?

It takes a long ass time, but Dib finally starts to get to Zim when telling him what the tallest actually think of him. They both end up escaping together and back on Earth, where Zim needs time to think to himself. Dib is like 👌 and then they part ways.

So, I can only assume they somehow made a compromise and are now working together to try and make as many places as peaceful as possible (Mainly irk) because the dream just has a plot hole there, don't really know how they came up with that idea or really why they would want to, but y'know. (Also it took them a couple years to come up with the plan, let's say like 4 so the timeline makes sense)

Anyways, they try to go for an easy area first, a planet full of lemon-based pastries, yup, dream logic. The Queen of the place is based off a Lemon Cake, and they call her Lemica for short. She ends up with a crush on Zim and literally straight up tries to kidnap him. Great, new bad guy! She isn't really evil just completely oblivious, in fact everyone on the planet is completely oblivious and happy all the time (Oh and she had cute little minions called the Macas who were macaroons, and they would wear a hat that looked like the top of one and aaa- so c u t e)

They leave the place and think they'll try another time, after this for some ding dang reason (Maybe using reverse psychology? Since the cute little lemon pastries were evil) decided to go to a planet full of a bunch of shark people DREAM LOGIC. Anyway, the leader of that place is named Sharko (Later we find out that's just a nickname because his full name is too girly for him, he himself was really girly looking as well) he also had little shark minions

Surprise surprise, he's also evil and takes their propositions as a "You're bad you need to change" and says he will track where they live and murder em. So yeah, Sharko kinda a bitch.

After 2 failed attempts they decide to take a break (I can only assume, the dream don't explain everything) but they see on the news that sharks are popping out of the ocean and beating the shit out of people on the beach and decide to go out there and help them (Of course Zim is upset it's a place full of water)

They end up having epic battle and winning, woop woop! Finally something positive happens to the boys! Sharko says they have proved they are superiors and now will serve them and destroy any planet they want them to. Not wanting to risk another misunderstanding (I ASSUME) they just go with it and let em fly back to their planet (Also they erased the memories of everyone on the beach that saw them fighting, the dream told me that much.)

After awhile they decide to go back to the lemon pastries planet and talk to the leader, since she noticed how they reacted last time she doesn't try it again, then she asks for a weird liquid for a truce. So they like 👌👌 and go out to where she wants them to go.

Turns out it's some Irken storage unit, oop and here comes some Zim ptsd. Since he's shorter than the one giving the tour, he's asked to do almost everything, like opening doors and letting them try out certain weapons on him. He just be like "Sure, yeah, I'll let you take advantage of me, what else am I good for besides being a slave to those taller than me?" Very sarcastically. The one giving the tour just responds with "Yes!" Just making him sigh. Dib notices this and tries to silently comfort him, how cute. (Dib has a disguise and is praised for being such a tall "irken")

Anyway, they end up in the room with the liquid but also inside of it was an object that can show your worst nightmare coming to life. They try using it on Zim because of course they do, and nothing changes so they try Dib instead (THAT'S PRETTY EDGY ZIM) it ends up being multiple things like fluffy animals and his dad(Which he pretends he doesn't know) Zim just kinda pets one of the cats and watches his friend be terrified (Completely unnecessary detail about this one scene but not the more important ones, thanks dream)

Anyways, they get the liquid and get outta there. They make the truce with Lemica and tell her all about their plans, she decides to join them and ends up going back to Earth with them (Have no idea who's in charge of the planet now but whatever, plot holes)

So I'll assume years pass by, probably like 4 more (Also a year passed while they were doing the peace stuff) so that's 5 years passed. They did a lot of filler stuff, a lot of useless detailed scenes my dream decided to give me, BUT there was an important recurring theme, and that was Dib trying to boost Zim's self esteem.

After that 4 years, he succeeds in boosting it and helping him move on from the past. Buuuuuuuut according to my dream, whenever an Irken gets a POSITIVE emotion (Unrecognizable) it freaks the freak out and makes that certain emotion very bipolar. How does Zim deal with his self esteem going up and down constantly? He eats dirt. Yup, dirt. Thanks, dream!

Turns out it's not any dirt, it's dirt that makes all your emotions go away for even a second, so he just eats it to relieve the pain for awhile, it takes a while but dummy Dib besides to ask about why he is constantly eating dirt all the time because he was worried bout his friend (The dream was so bipolar about whether they were dating or friends so I'll just say friend to stay safe lmao) anyways he explains everything to him after a lot of persuasion (Also apparently the dirt constantly changes its texture so like it cancels out the emotions? I really don't know why this was info we needed, dream)

Dib, being the dumbass he is just goes "Oh don't worry buddy boi I'll just fix it!" And Zim just be like "Bitch wut." And boom! That's all the dream I've had so far!

I really did fill up a lot of the plot holes the dream had, this is what i THINK the timeline is. Anyways, Sharko and Lemica were both babies to me, all the filler really attached me to em idk why. Oh also Tak and Gaz kinda showed up sometimes and they were dating, it was sure of that, I just couldn't exactly tell where in the timeline she showed up.

It was really all in your artstyle, which was really…. Weird, to say the least. I guess you're in my brain now, just like my secret alien stash, where I had a dream they posted art and that's literally it. I'm really surprised a dream could make up such a story like this with not too many inconsistencies. Like the fact that his name is too girly so he calls himself Sharko is just… such a tiny detail and yet my dream added that layer to the character, it's just… nothing like this has happened to me before. That's all I can really say, I'll update if the dream comes back.

Request: Hello! So, I LOVE what you write. You're very talented and thank you! It makes me happy and helps during the isolation.Could write something about riven defeding his gf (the reader) during a training session under andreas and rosalind that goes to far and she's like begging to the training to stop, but they keep going? And he just steps up and stop it. Maybe later she is insecure and thinking they gonna throw her our, since she is from Earth. Anyways, thank you =)

To say you were nervous was an understatement. Ever since the regime around Alfea changed you had been absolutely terrified of your spot at the magic school. You were from the first world and had been accepted because of your magical powers and the benefits of learning to control them, you weren’t great at it yet but you were learning. However with the changes that were going around, you were scared they would deem you as useless and kick you out. Especially since your last training session.

Rosalind wanted all the fairies to learn combat, which meant that every specialist was paired with a fairy to help them train and get better in physical fighting. Rosalind wanted everyone to be able to fight physically instead of only using magic; magic could fail you, your fists wouldn’t. Atleast that is what she said, you understood her reasoning and you didn’t even think it was a bad idea to learn some physical fighting moves, you sucked at them and knowing how to defend yourself wasn’t going to hurt, at least so you thought.

You had been paired up with Sky, which you were happy with since the two of you got along well and you knew that he would go a little easy on you and that he could really help you get better. Physical combat was hard for you, you were a mind fairy so reading people’s minds while hurting them, hurt you. You could feel and empathize with your victims making it harder to fight them. But you were determined, you were going to train and show Rosalind and Andreas that you belong at Alfea.

You had been practicing a little with your boyfriend, Riven, just so you would be prepared at the training sessions. ‘’Come on y/n, they really won’t kick you out, let’s take a break’’ you sighed ‘’But what if they do Riv? I can’t afford to take breaks’’ You wanted to go at it again but Riven stopped you by grabbing your shoulders ‘’Y/n I love you but if you don’t take a break yourself I will drag you away from the field’’ you chuckled and gave him a quick peck ‘’Fine but I want to continue in 5′’ Riven shook his head while laughing ‘’Fine, now let’s get you some water’’ 

You really appreciated him looking out for you, he always did. Ever since the two of you became close, he would help you calm down and relax after you’d spiral. He was always by your side and you were so grateful to have him, you loved him and he was a big reason of why you wanted to stay at alfea so desperately. 

The day of the first real training had arrived. Sky was already there and waved at you and Riven as the two of you made your way to the training grounds. ‘’You’ve got this, we have been practicing so much, you know all the basics’’ You took a deep breath ‘’I got this’’ you mumbled a few times to yourself until you had actually made it to the others. ‘’I believe in you’’ Riven whispered against you before giving you a kiss on your forehead and parting ways with you, he had been assigned to Stella, which he was not happy with but you secretly found slightly amusing, and she was already waiting impatiently for him.

‘‘Are you ready?’‘ Sky asked you and you nodded. You weren’t sure you were ready but you had to be, so you closed your eyes and took a deep breath. You tried to switch your powers off for now and just focus on the physical combat. So when Sky first lunged at you, you were doing fine. You blocked him and you actually smacked him to the ground. But then you felt his pain. You shook your head and continued, you had pinned him once again and felt his discomfort quickly letting him go. You hadn’t noticed that Rosalind and Andreas had showed up and were looking at you.

‘‘Y/n?’‘ you turned your head quickly and saw Rosalind looking displeased. ‘‘I want you to do that move again, and finish it’‘ You gulped, you wanted to show them that you could do it, but you really didn’t want to feel Sky’s discomfort again. You took another deep breath and set in for the attack, you succeeded and had Sky pinned to the ground yet again. There it was, the discomfort. You really wanted to let him go. You tried to repress those feelings and pushed harder, the feeling of his pain flooded over you. ‘‘I-I can feel his pain, please can I let him go?’‘ Rosalind shook her head ‘‘Do you think real enemies would hesitate to kill you after you let them go because of discomfort? No you finish it’‘ You pushed a little further, the feeling of his pain washing over you once again, the feeling was starting to affect you and the people around.

The others stopped the training to see what was going on. ‘’I-I can’t do this anymore, please’’ you pleaded with Rosalind and Andreas. You just wanted to stop, you now had to do multiple moves and cause Sky pain, which you felt too. You didn’t want to hurt him anymore, even if you knew that it wasn’t actual hurt and that as a specialist he was used to it, it killed you on the inside to hurt someone and feel it throughout your body. Riven heard your pleas and rushed over to the scene. 

You were nearly sobbing as you stood in front of Sky, begging Rosalind and Andreas to let you quit. But they wouldn’t let you, he knew just how miserable you was, you had explained to him multiple times how awful you felt whenever you could feel someone elses pain. So he stepped in. ‘’That is enough’’ you turned your head to the familiair voice of your boyfriend. ‘’Can’t you see the poor girl is hurting? let her quit’’ Andreas scoffed ‘’Who do you think you are? She has to toughen up’’ Riven was fuming at this point, you were scared to intervene so you kept your mouth shut. ‘’She can feel his pain and it kills her on the inside, she should be able to quit, don’t you guys agree?’’ he asked to the other fairies and specialists around and everyone voiced their agreement. Rosalind was not happy with this stunt ‘’Fine, Y/n leave the training grounds. We’ll see if you’re still fit for this school’’ 

It had been two hours since the training and you had been panicking ever since. You had appreciated Riven standing up for you but you were terrified that they were going to kick you out. ‘’They can’t really kick me out right?’’ you were walking in circles through your room. ‘’I don’t think so’’ You stopped in your tracks ‘’You don’t think so? oh god they are kicking me out and then I’ll never be able to control my powers and I’ll have to leave you and then you’ll find a super hot new fairy that will be great in everything and then you’ll leave me for her and-’’ you were rambling until Riven stopped you ‘’Y/n’’ you stopped rambling and looked at Riven with tears in your eyes ‘’I don’t want to leave’’ He pulled you against him and held you close ‘’I know baby, but everything will be alright, we will figure it all out’’ you wrapped your arms around him, even though everything threatened to fall apart, you still felt a little better holding Riven close. You would figure it all out, together.

New Kid by Jerry Craft

Genre/category: Coretta Scott King Award Winner 2020, Newbery Award Winner 2020, Banned/Challenged Book, Graphic Novel

Targeted Age: 3rd to 6th graders

Quick plot synopsis: Twelve-year-old Jordan Banks is less than enthused about going to his new school. As one of the few students of color at the distinguished private academy, Jordan learns to navigate the struggles that come with class and racial differences.

Why I chose New Kid: New Kid won a Coretta Scott King Award in 2020, which celebrates Black authors and illustrators of youth literature. In addition, Craft’s graphic novel also won a Newbery Award in the same year. Jordan’s story is presented realistically, showing the reader both the highs and the lows of being a young Black boy in a predominantly white school. This book has unfortunately faced numerous bans/challenges over the past year. A ban near me, at Katy Independent School District of Katy, Texas, made national headlines for alleging that New Kid violated Texas law. This censorship is concerning, as Jordan’s story is important and stifling this book only makes kids like him feel more alienated than they already are.

Evaluation:

As a graphic novel, visual representations of the character, story, and setting are integral to New Kid. We see Riverdale Day Academy through Jordan’s eyes, both his actual experiences and his interpretations in his own sketchbook. The connections between the two give depth to Jordan’s character. His humor and emotions are easy to see in his own personal sketchbook, but they also appear in the full color “real life” parts of the text. For example, background characters move and behave like zombies on the first day of school and when Jordan’s parents argue, Jordan is represented as a baby sitting between them (Craft, 2019). Additionally, the exaggerations and caricatures in Craft’s artsyle enhance the awkwardness of the situations Jordan finds himself in. Through Craft’s illustrations, the reader is right alongside Jordan for every high and every low.

New Kid is full of wit, humor, and well-placed allusions. Each chapter heading references another popular media. For example, “Chapter 2 The Road to Riverdale - There and Back Again” is a reference to The Hobbit, or There and Back Again. The illustration supports this, with a map that evokes J.R.R. Tolkien’s own style (Craft, 2019, p. 16-17). The humor of the story often pokes fun at the unfortunate behavior of Jordan’s teachers and peers. On page 129, the school librarian recommends a book to Maury, another Black student. She asserts that he’ll relate to the fatherless, poor main character only to be told “Thanks, Miss Brickner, but my dad is the CEO of a Fortune 500 company” (Craft, 2019). The humor apparent in the school librarian’s mistake points out how absurd similar behaviors can be.

Insights into the very real problem of seemingly “harmless” interactions that are actually racist are a major focus of New Kid. Throughout the book, incorrect assumptions are constantly made to the detriment of students of color at Riverdale. Craft uses these insights to encourage the reader to consider similar problems faced by themselves or their peers. All of Craft’s scenes are well thought out and poignant. One in particular stuck out to me— when Jordan’s white teacher insists that he should be happy to be different, he asks if she’d teach in his predominantly Black neighborhood so she could feel special too (Craft, 2019, p. 221). This scene challenges the idea that white society should be seen as a "reward" for people of color.

Do I recommend it?: Definitely! Jordan’s story offers a mirror for kids like him, and a window for others. His experience is true to life and is told with humor and kindness throughout. New Kid can (and should) be enjoyed by anyone of any age.
