I finally got my hands on a GBA Minish Cap copy and my old DS Lite reads GBA games.

The only issue is my DS Life's Left Bumper decided to just stop working. Everything was fine without it until I got the Kin Stone quest line 😭

Thankfully my sister's old DS Lite is still around and the bumpers work, so I'll have to steal hers to play.

I've got Zelda 1 on my father's old NES, ALttP, OoT and Majora's Mask on the Wii virtual console, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess on the GameCube, Skyward Sword on Wii, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks on DS, ALBW on 3DS, Link's Awakening on Switch and of course both BotW and TotK on Switch. I just haven't played either Four Swords or Four Swords Adventure, the two Oracle Games and Zelda II. 😤

Finally, all the remaining games fit in one poll!

During the last round we lost Link's awakening/LANS in the first half and Phantom hourglass in the second half! Phantom hourglass got more votes so it's one position behind.

Phantom hourglass was an interesting game. Honestly I remember Spirit Tracks more vivdly, it left something more than PH. But Linebeck is a cool character and I clearly remember the final battle and the ending! As for Link's awakening, I played the DX version on NSO and got bored after the third dungeon. Yes the story is great, but I played already knowing the ending and the gameplay wasn't really worth continuing in my experience, also knowing nothing really happened. Well, in PH technically nothing happens either, but only from the others' perspective, Wind and Tetra did have the adventure and Linebeck is the proof! Though it's funny how the 2 games based on a dream got yeeted out together :)

So i ran this by two family members and they seemed to like it

What if made like, a blog to review bargain bin gba games. Like, the shit they put into a bucket at bookmans for cheap.

I think it could be fun and relatively inexpensive, since right now my gba sp is basically just a Minish cap machine since I didn't want to pay Nintendo's ridiculous price for their upgraded NSO for literally one game.

I ended up paying a premium for the gba and a new copy of MC but like, I could play other games too

This is actually my first year being back on tumblr while I've been doing this, so!!! IT'S TIME FOR THE CHIBSAWARDS!!!! Which essentially something me and my friends do at the end of the year, compiling things we liked about media we watched/read/played in that year. Surprising nobody there's like 7 different awards that go to DetCo.

-Boy Most Likely To Get Himself Killed If It Weren't For Plot Armor (Conan Edogawa/Shinichi Kudo)

This didn't make the cut because he's already Blorbo Of The Year for the 4th year in a row so I didn't want to put him on here twice. (Technically 4 times because he's on the cover of DetCo's manga as well as the poster for Black Iron Submarine.) This award was mainly because I watched Black Iron Submarine last week and was just, SHOCKED, at this boy's reaction to something later in the movie. He worries me.

-Game That Baby Chibs Would Have Loved (The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap)

Thanks to Nintendo's official GBA Emulator app on the Nintendo Switch, and my friend who kindly lets me be on his NSO Family Plan, I was able to play Minish Cap earlier this year! It was a delight the whole way through, and it makes me a little sad that I didn't know this game existed back when I had my GBA as a kid, because I know kid me would have loved it to bits.

-Best Comedy Manga (Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You)

You'll notice the character named Sasaki who won the "Chibsbait" award? He's one of the main characters of this manga. He's really cute I cannot resist a middle aged easy flustered salaryman.

-Best Pokemon (Appletun & Mabosstiff)

Originally this was going to just be for Mabosstiff, but I can never forget Tagi the Appletun from my SWSH playthrough.

-Most Rewatched Movie (Trigun Badlands Rumble)

I've watched this movie 3 seperate times this year, so that's why it gets this award.

-Most Atmospheric Final Boss (The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom)

OOOOOOOOO THAT FINAL BOSS WAS SO PRETTY. But putting a screenshot of it in this would spoil my friends who haven't finished TotK, and also it just wasn't cool enough of a category to make the cut.

-Most Anticipated Game (Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth)

Yes this is a TGA category. Yes it didn't win. Yes it won in my heart.

-Ugly Bastard Who's Invaded My Thoughts (Irish)

Most of my DetCo followers and mutuals should know who this is, but for those of my followers and mutuals who aren't into DetCo, he's from the 13th movie "The Raven Chaser". He's ugly he's awful, he kicked the shit out of Conan, but yknow he had a change of heart at the end and that was apparently enough to forgive everything he did in the whole past 15 minutes of the movie. I've seen this movie multiple times since 2019 when I first watched it, but I've been thinking about him the most this year I think. (Which is funny bc I haven't rewatched it at all this year. It's mainly bc he was mentioned in Movie 26 and I've seen fanart of him with Curacao and Pinga.)

Magolor Set

I've created a hat and sweater set for anyone who wants to dress up as the egg himself. Fully creating the cat ears is, alas, not possible. But doing the patterning on the crown of the hat still looks neat.

Above are the share codes if you just want to download them and enjoy. But if you expand the post, I'm going to try to add screenshots to make it possible to recreate them on your own if you want to hang them in your Able Sisters or don't have NSO.

So first off, here's all the custom colors I used. Mostly it's just a main blue, white, and yellow, with some slightly darker shades for a bit of shading in a few places.

Yellow was the default shade I'm like 90% sure, but if it's not then it's the same as the two yellows here just at full brightness. Similarly, both the whites seen on the bar are the default white. The lightest shade of blue is the main shade.

So here is the edit screen for the hat. It only uses the lightest blue, regular yellow, and white. The type is the Knit Cap.

And here are the screens for the sweater:

The darkest shade of grey is just for the buckle. The other greys are used to add a bit of outline around the belt portion so it doesn't blend in to the rest of the white. There's a bit of grey along the edges of the "jacket" as well.

The darker blues and yellows mostly just get used along the bottom of the sweater and sleeves, to add a bit of shadow, but they can easily be omitted. The brown on the front is either default or a slightly darker version of default. You can use whatever shade you like here, Magolor just has a brownish body.

Ahhhhh what a hype Nintendo Direct! On rewatching the new Tears of the Kingdom trailer looking for smaller details I got super excited seeing what looks like a Gleeok in the overworld. I hope they bring back more enemies we haven't seen in a mainline game yet! I will definitely be shortly working on upgrading my BotW Link into his new outfit leading up to the release in May! I cannot wait!!

Also super pumped for the Metroid Prime remaster and for Gameboy games being added to NSO, I can finally finish Minish Cap. I'm hoping they eventually release Four Swords Adventure to the Switch so I can finally play it as well 🙏🏻

The original Baten Kaitos 1 and 2 will be remastered for Switch this summer!

A new Professor Layton game will be coming to Switch! All we have is a title announcement: Professor Layton and the New World of Steam

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Wave 4 launches this spring!

There was a new feature trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom! A new Amiibo of Link was also announced to be released on the same day as the game!

LOOKING FOR PEOPLE FOR A NSO+ FAMILY GROUP

Hello people!

I've been in a NSO + Expansion family group for 2 years. The group is composed of 4 USD users and 4 Euro users, so the payments aren't the easiest, but we did find ways to pay. Now, 2 of my friends want to join the group, and they're both Euro users, so I'm looking for 2 or 3 Euro users and 4 USD users to join us to create 2 separate groups, one using USD and one using Euro.

The price will be $/€10 for one year of NSO + Expansion, the expansion includes: - exclusive emulators: n64, Sega Genesis/MD, GBA - DLCs for Mario kart 8D, Animal Crossing NH, Splatoon - all the features of NSO: tetris 99, pacman 99, fZero 99, Nes, Snes, GameBoy, Cloud saving, and online. I can say spending a bit more for the expansion is worth it because the n64 and gba games are so valid as multiplayer party games, I often play mario party 1 and 2 (And now Party 3 is coming too!) and I've recently played the newly added Kirby on gba with a friend!

Extra, for LU people: I'm thinking about redoing my acnh island to recreate Kakariko from A Link Between Worlds! You might have read time ago on the server that I was making HyruleTown from Minish cap but as much as I love Four and that game, sadly I can't recreate it perfectly as much as I'm trying, so I'll switch to Kakariko!

First of all, I noticed I forgot to update the rankings on the previous round! It's fixed now. Sorry for that!

During the last round We lost the oracle games (first poll) and Age of calamity (second poll)! Starting from the next round, there won't be the need to split it in two sections! But please tumblr add more option slots :( Age of Calamity got less votes than the oracles.

What can I say about these two? I played the demo of AOC and the gameplay is similar to HW (of course) with some botw elements. I kinda liked the demo, and some characters like Makimi are cute :D Though I wish the story was different, and actually told what really happened, instead of an highly unlikely alternate reality. The plot made me lose interest in it, I don't think I'll ever play the full version. As for the oracles, I've actually played a bit of each on NSO! The major issue (at least with seasons) is that there's nobody telling Link where to go or a diary of sorts, and after some time I did't play I didn't know where to go. But the mechanics were interesting.
