I know this is Kakuranger and all, but I try to imagine a scenario where Power Rangers would adapt this 1-to-1. Poor Ninjor's Ninja Heart would probably break into a million pieces!

Ninjor: Can't you read? Tommy: Course we can read. Read what? Ninjor: The door. It says "keep out". Tommy: No, it says "go away humans". Ninjor: So it does. Never loose your temper in the middle of a door sign.

I wanted to showcase my designs for the Ninja Rangers during Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 3. Even though the ninja outfits for the most part have been forgotten, I personally wished they were the main suits through the whole show, even if it meant leaving behind the original MMPR suits. So I designed these to give them a bit more of a "Ranger" feel if that makes any sense.

I got this "Retro Morphin Fliphead Ninjor" at Ollie's, because clearly no one was down to pay $12 for what is obviously a $2 toy with limited articulation. I think I paid $8 for it.
At any rate, he is wearing a "FASHION DOLL" dress I got at Dollar General for my Barbies.
...Because the dress doesn't fit the Barbies. It is too big and also too tight. You had ONE JOB, Dollar General, to make cheap KO Barbie clothes. And you fuxked it up.
But it fits Ninjor. Perfectly. Look at the velcro up the back. It was like it was made for him.
You can see his feet in the first picture. It is even the right length.
The bargain toy universe is an amazing place.

I doubt it will happen but I wonder if there only seeming to be the samurai rangers is part of the Eltarian Regime maybe scrubbing all mention of them for whatever reason to solidify their hold on worlds that would have had rangers
Also crazy that our Aquaitian ranger has no elements of that team on their suit
It's a very likely possibility, though it does beg the question of why they have a full Ranger exhibit in their museum, even if that exhibit is off-limits, if they want to scrub the Power Rangers' existence from all awareness. Also in general I think the history of this world doesn't allow for a lot of the Rangers to exist - we don't seem to have Zordon, which eliminates a good chunk of Rangers, especially if that includes the loss of Gosei; Rangers wouldn't have to be created by the government if the Eltarians are in charge, etc. So it could be a little of this, a little of that

Gigabash Character Overview: R.O.J.A.K
The second character of the Mighty DLC pack and the last new original character added to the game (hopefully for now). It’s a tokusatsu reference we were honestly overdue on.
youtube
R.O.J.A.K is the second playable mech in the game and my preferred choice over Balzarr, this mech is a glacier designed to be a counter to the meteor lion. R.O.J.A.K has an upwards aerial attack, a midrange attack, and a long distance attack. Somewhat sacrificing easy combo potential to be able to attack at any range and keep a close range fighter like Balzarr at a distance. The ranged attack specifically throws a projectile in an arc which will then roll backwards before exploding on a delayed timer (unless you nail an opponent in the head with one in which case it immediately explodes). You can also hit the grounded projectile around.
R.O.J.A.K has a gimmick just like Balzar called Synergy. If you land an attack with a body part then it will become “primed”, and after priming each body part the pilots of R.O.J.A.K will become synergized. The mech’s synergy state gives you faster attack speed, lets you fire more projectiles, and makes you one of the fastest moving characters in the game. It’s meant as a way to further even the playing field against Balzarr.
R.O.J.A.K’s ultimate is rather special too, with the mech transforming into a tank complete with unique artwork and music. This tank form can zoom around the battlefield ramming and blasting opponents while also leveling any buildings, making it harder for Balzarr to use his predator stance, and R.O.J.A.K will exit the ultimate synergized.
R.O.J.A.K also presented Passion Republic Games with the challenge of voice acting, which makes the characters of the mech stand out more in a game that otherwise has no voice acting. I think they did a great job!
So with all this said, is this new mech superior to Thundatross? Well… no. I initially thought so but after a few matches with @dappercritter it became apparent that Thundatross is the superior mech. I know I said Zyva was an S tier character, but Thundatross is above even that. Thanks to tross’s high defense and the super armor many of its attacks have, Thundatross remains very noticeably overpowered.

It’s really obvious, but R.O.J.A.K is to Megazord as Balzarr is to Goldar, but @goldeaglefire1 noticed that the individual pilots might have more references. But before that I need to get something out of the way first.
Team R.O.J.A.K are all the last members of their own “mighty warrior” teams that were taken out by Balzarr and have come together to stop him (and I’m pretty sure the Power Rangers comics have explored a similar premise). Described as “ragtag team of survivors, outcasts, leftovers, and one celebrity” these pilots really don’t seem like they’d work together, but that’s why they’re named team Rojak. In another show of Passion Republic Games’ Malaysian heratige, the name Rojak is used to refer to a dish made throughout southeastern Asia composed of a mixture of fruits and vegetables that don’t seem like they’d go together but works thanks to a special sauce, and PRG has said that the player is the sauce that brings team R.O.J.A.K together. Rojak is also apparently a slur but I don’t think PRG was going for that. Now with that out of the way we can explore the references in the designs of the team members.
Tumblr media
Red/Kabuto comes from what might have been an insect themed team from Japan (and it’s weird Japan would need its own mighty warriors considering they have Thundatross and Gigaman). His mech is a stag beetle and its zord alt-mode forms a head. This alt mode and his outfit evoke a samurai helmet which is very similar to Ninjor. It also might be a reference to the recent insect themed sentai show Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger where the red member of the group was themed after a stag beetle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blue/Rex is pretty obvious. His mech is a Tyrannosaurus rex and his design is a reference to the red ranger from Power Rangers Dino Thunder. Goldeagle also notes that the yellow highlights on his suit could also be a reference to Dino Charge. Rex’s suit also has markings reminiscent of Polynesian tattoos, meaning he might have come from a Polynesian team.
Tumblr media
Yellow/Tian Long might not take inspiration from any particular sentai show but the name “Tian Long” refers to a Chinese dragon, so he’s likely from a Chinese team. His mech is even an eastern dragon, although in a minor mistake on PRG’s part his dragon is actually a Japanese Ryu. You see, you can tell what kind of dragon an eastern dragon is based on the number of fingers it has. Chinese dragons have five fingers, Korean dragons have four, and Japanese dragons have three. Judging by how he tends to have an air of aloofness and cool, Tian Long might be the celebrity mentioned.
Green/Crown is actually pretty unique considering she might come from a team with a theme a sentai show hasn’t used before. Her mech is a Durian, a fruit native to southeastern Asia that is commonly used in rojak dishes and is referred to as the “king of fruit”. This tells us that she probably comes from a southeast Asian team themed around fruit. Goldeagle suggests that her suit might be a reference to both Wagon and Beet J. Stag. Considering her anxious and unsure nature she might be the “outcast” or “leftover”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Black/Liberty is adorned with metals, carries guns, and has a tank for a mech… yeah he comes from an American team. His suit likely references 80s sentai shows, likely Bioman in particular.
Tumblr media
I highly recommend reading goldeagle’s post for a more detailed rundown. Even though they claim to not be a power rangers/super sentai guy, they sure as hell know more than me.
Also one of R.O.J.A.K’s skins is a reference to Optimus Prime.
Lore
Back in the hell year 2020 (likely an even worse year for the gigabash universe) when Thundatross was first unveiled the whole world was impressed and envious.
Nations around the world really wanted their own kaiju fighting mecha to defend their homes and to allow them to rely less on the corrupt Global Titan Defense Initiative. So they pooled their resources into an international weapons development program called the Aegis Program. The purpose was to build mechs called Aegis that could use the Universal Adapter System to combine together into a Super Aegis. The only drawback being that a Super Aegis is piloted by five different people. Also the only reason I can think of as to why the mechs were all brightly colored and the pilots have goofy suits is maybe for branding and public morale.
There is the question of what powers the Aegis. Thundatross has the Gigatron reactor and thats the main driving point of why it’s so powerful. Maybe the Aegis program did some corporate espionage against OtamaTEC like the GTDI did and stole some blueprints for the Gigatron reactor, or maybe they stole the blueprints for the prototype version from the GTDI (who in turn stole it from OtamaTEC) and perfected it? Or maybe Dr. Otama himself offered the blueprints to the Aegis program under very specific conditions? Or maybe they just run on batteries. R.O.J.A.K can also enter an S-class overdrive mode like Thundatross as well.
The project presumably went okay until Balzarr arrived and wrecked every single Aegis save for five, who came together to form team Robot Of Justice Against Kaijus, or R.O.J.A.K for short, who are on a mission to defeat Balzarr.
—————————-
Well that wraps it up for the Gigabash reviews again! Hopefully Passion Republic Games adds more original characters to the game. Thank you for reading!
