There are known cases of mersalmon males who willingly accepted to undergo the torture of bites, typical of nixen courtship, and managed to produce fertile offspring with them. Although male nixens normally use only force to conquer females, biting and chasing them, it seems that the courtship ritual of mersalmons, composed mostly of displays and songs, can still convince female nixens to mate.

Xanatos (as mersalmon) and Fox (as nixen) illustrate this mixed courtship ritual...

“Wie zum Teufel machst du das?”

Vikas strahlendes Lächeln verschwand. Stattdessen blieb sie irritiert und auch etwas verletzt zurück. “Freust du dich denn nicht?” Unsicherheit machte sich in ihr breit und ihre Hände, in welchen sie noch immer das Geschenk hielt, sanken. Vorsichtig positionierte sie die Hände neu um den Blumentopf und musste sich sehr stark zusammenreißen, um nicht einen Schritt von ihrer Freundin wegzutreten. Diese seufzte gerade. “Ich... das meinte ich nicht. Ich freue mich. Aber das kann doch nicht normal sein. ich habe dir diese Rose gegeben, weil ich sie getötet habe. Sagen wir, wie es ist. Man hätte sie nicht mehr retten können! Aber du, du stehst hier, drei Wochen später und mit einer Pflanze, die definitiv nicht vor drei Wochen noch verwelkt und eingetrocknet war. Also will ich wissen, wie du das gemacht hast! Es muss eine neue sein. Hast du sie aus deinem Garten ausgebuddelt? Und wie zum Teufel, kann es jetzt eine 'immer blühende' Pflanze sein? Du kannst mir keinen Stundenplan zu dem Topf reichen und sagen, wenn ich mich genau daran halte, dann wird sie niemals verwelken. Das ist doch nicht normal.” Tuva vergrub die Hände in ihren Haaren und machte von sich aus ein paar Schritte zurück. Ihr Brustkorb dehnte sich unter dem tiefen Einatmen, während Vika sich abwandte und die Blume auf den Tisch im Wohnzimmer stellte. 

Sie hatte sich soviel Mühe damit gegeben. Der Topf war eine Rarität. Wurde so nicht mehr hergestellt. Sie hatte ihn in Wick bei einer Wohnungsauflösung gefunden. Diesen und ein paar andere. Alles Einzelstücke - soweit sie wusste. Ein wenig erinnerte er ans alte Griechenland. Eine Tatsache, die den Topf perfekt machten, um bei ihrer Freundin unter zu kommen. Er würde sich perfekt in ihren Einrichtungsstil eingliedern. 

“Du willst wissen, wie ich das mache? Ich rede mit ihnen. Unter anderem. Du glaubst gar nicht, was Pflanzen für wundervolle Zuhörer sein können. Aber sie antworten auch. Auf ihre Art und Weise. Es bringt auch etwas, wenn man ihnen vorsichtig über die Blätter streicht und die welken Blüten entfernt, sobald es an der Zeit ist. Ein Gießplan ist auch nicht verkehrt. Aber eigentlich brauche ich das alles nicht. Ich bringe die Pflanzen einfach dazu zu machen, was ich will. Ich will, dass eine Pflanze wächst, dann wächst sie. Ich will, dass sie blüht? Dann blüht sie. Du bewunderst immer meine Orchideen. Es wäre untertrieben, zu behaupten, dass ich ein Händchen dafür habe. Einen grünen Daumen. Das alles liegt mir einfach in den Genen. Ein bisschen Magie hier, ein bisschen gutes Zureden da und et voila, mein Garten.” - “Ach? Und gleich erzählst du mir, dass es Kelpies, Nixen und Feen wirklich gibt.” Das verächtliche Schnauben tat weh. Doch Vika lächelte. “Ganz genau. Wenn ich dir meine Geheimnisse verraten würde, wen würdest du denn sonst anheuern, um die armen Dinger wieder zu neuem Leben zu erwecken, die du tötest?” Das Lächeln wurde zu einem Grinsen und mit einem Mal begann auch Tuva wieder damit zu grinsen. “Du bist so blöd!” Das Kissen hatte schneller in die Finger ihrer Freundin gefunden, als Vika damit gerechnet hätte. Schon schlug sie ihr damit gegen den Arm und begann zu lachen. Ein Lachen, das so ansteckend war, dass Vika einstimmte. “Kelpies gibt es übrigens. Du hast das selbst gesagt”, konterte Vika und schnappte sich ebenfalls ein Kissen von der Couch. “Da war ich fünf, komm drüber weg.” 

Vergessen war das Geheimnis um Vikas grünen Daumen. Die neu erblühte Rose würde bald in einer Zimmerecke stehen und Tuva nur an eine wundervolle Freundin erinnern. Vielleicht ließ sie sie sogar vergessen, dass sie jemals Zweifel daran gehabt hatte, dass alles, was Vika tat, reines Können war.

Hi everyone.

Today I brought you some of my old drawings. This one is a trade for @nixensibrat02 , which I made a while ago, but posting only now.

It was a pleasure to draw that baby bee and Nixen also drew adorable art of Mike and Cavai for me - check their Twitter acc ✨

Second is a study thing. Yep, I wanted to draw a small sketchy comic about life update or something but as you see I haven't done that. Anyway I'm taking an art course at XYZ school that will make me better at sketches and concept art and hopefully after that it will be easier to find a job.

About my mental state (which I dunno cares anyone about at all) it's not good. Drawing is difficult for me now. It feels exiting and frustrating at the same time, and with some irl stuff/stress/pressure it's too much for me now. I would have left it all for a month or so if I had a chance but I just have to draw - commissioners and studies can't wait. Well I mean ig can wait for a few days, but a few days is not enough for me.

I just want to feel fine.

But the only thing I can do for now is keep going.

Who is this?

This is Nixen Valerian. The loner with a mysterious past who garners a lot of curiosity from those around him both from his reserved nature and his handsome white dermal plates and baby blue eyes.

Nixen comes across as lethargic and spacey most of the time in social situations as they drain him almost ridiculously quickly and he will avoid being touched without his distinct permission at all costs. And doesn’t talk much about himself even if asked. The strange painful-looking embedded device in his brow plate doesn’t ever gain an explanation for the enquiries either.

It comes from a very painful childhood when his parents in their younger years stubbornly decided to carve out a family life out of naive defiance on Omega and for awhile it went well, they even had a nice quarian couple as neighbours and long-time friends. Unfortunately their happy life flipped over when their two year old son Nixen was kidnapped without any trace left anywhere to follow.

Nixen was missing for three years while his parents, his uncle and his godparents: their quarian neighbours searched for him to no avail, before at last a lead popped up.

They stormed a hidden backyard lab on Korlus where they found Nixen after the bloody battle that ensued as the research team fought tooth and claw to keep their subjects.

The once bubbly boy was now withdrawn and quiet and screamed in panic when he was touched.

His godparents had perished in the squirmish to recover him. Leaving their poor newborn baby without parents. So she was taken into the family as well and would be raised as Nixen’s sister.

No matter what they tried they could not find a way to remove the unknown tech implanted in Nixen’s face, as it connected directly to his brain stem and central nervous system. To this day they do not know what it does.

Nixen knows however. It’s Prothean tech that “grants” him the ability to communicate and gather information through touch like a prothean that he cannot switch off. Being around too much social stimuli overloads him with data he never evolved to process.

But he found it has made him great at tracking, hunting and infiltration.

The rest of his upbringing was in a quiet home on Trategos to keep him and his sister Knell safe. Where they were mainly raised around Asari. Although as soon as puberty hit, Nixen found himself simply disappearing in the slowy wilderness for weeks at a time. Where he feels at peace.

Being pansexual, Nixen attempted romance many times in his adulthood so far and has a lot of exes. But despite part of him wanting love, he finds it very difficult to just open up about himself and his secrets. And surface level emotional bonds wear down quickly.
