I was thinking about that post that we're all going crazy because it's getting dark early so I want to present you Poland, where the sunniest place in the country had SIX MINUTES of sun during the whole day:

me, after a 30°C weekend (which was worryingly anomalous): *start washing winter coats, put a blanket on the bed and the duvets under, waiting for a hot weekend to go wash it; take out all the late spring jackets and shirts and move the heavy ones in*
me, today, with 8°C, looking at the sky: "MAKE A FRIGGING DECISION, WILL YA?"

@onenicebugperday I found this poor little fella on the floor of the hallway to my office this morning. Never seen anything like him. I love his colours, I'm so sad that I didn't get the chance to see him flapping his wings...
I've been living here in northen Italy for years but I never saw anyone of his species. Could you please satisfy my curiosity and tell me who he is?
Thanks!

we wanna hear more about your italy headcanons!
Haha, I have a few up my sleeve dear anon. I'll start by giving the first "general ones" that come to my mind.
his human name is Felice Valente, but many nations also know him as "Veneziano"
this nickname comes from him being the former Republic of Venice (mind you, it lasted for over a thousand years!), one of the most powerful nations of that time
"Oh look that's Mr. Valente!" "Who, Veneziano?"
being one of the most influential states also meant that he had to be plenty charismatic
he's a tremendously smooth talker, can put you at ease with just a smile
but mind you! you'll never know if his friendliness is genuine or not
either way, he's normally pleasant to be around and pretty much open to talking if he's not busy
fascinated by technology and engineering projects
in particular, he's a big fan of cars, think of the many brands that were born in north italy!
Fiat, Lamborghini, Ferrari...
probably owns some of these lol
aaand speaking of owning...
he has a few houses scattered around northen italy
his "main" house is in Milan, were he is more closer to the buildings he needs to be present to and overall in a central zone
it is probably an apartment on a high floor, the inside is very cozy for such a "modern" household
another house of his is in Tuscany, probably a cottage in the outskirts of the big cities were he can relax
the calm and peaceful nature of the countryside let's him rest, he can also paint in peace there (his life in Milan is generally very frenetic)
and probably some others that don't come to my mind rn
i said many times before that he's quite professional in international meetings despite his cheerfulness
outside of work stuff though? a total dork <33
this is were his more "silly" aspect really shines
he's the guy that in the middle of nowhere whips out a bottle of grappa and goes "let's see how much i can drink before i pass out"
ah and to add on that, he swears a lot when drunk
go to Veneto and you'll understand
also very stylish this man dresses to kill alright? we stan a man that takes care of himself!
even though sometimes he can come across as snobbish and self absorbed
you can literally smell the ex austrohungarian from him LMAOO
aaand that's about it for the miscellaneous ones, let me know if you want to read more :))

About me
My name is Laura, I'm 20 years old and on my first year of university.
I study sociology in Trento, which is a city in northen Italy, 1 hour by train from my hometown.
I struggled a lot to study during high school, while I find it easier now since I love my uni classes, it's very hard to build a reliable study method.
This blog will be about the exams I'm preparing for and about my university experience overall.
I would love to be mutuals with other studyblr.

Not to get personal or stalkery but.
Do you live in the area you were born in (like, just yes/no)
And: which Italian macro area (north/south/centre) do you live in.
I am curious but just ignore if uncomfortable!!!
Gege my dear, with all the times I bothered you with my stupid little comments the least you should do is use these information to hunt me down for sport
Currently I do live in the area I was born, and the idea of having to leave my city to live somewhere else is... greatly uncomfortable! I'm a very sedentary person, I like my habits and routine so I get a little wobbly in my head when they get disrupted. I am moving from my parents house soon, but that's as daring as I'm getting.
I live in Northen Italy! If you came to know me irl, you could probably guess it by the fact that I can't cook for shit and I'm constantly cold.

for the second year in a row we're having a rain season in Northen Italy. if it will repeat itself the next one it should get at least a cool name. it's the least that can happen to mitigate the fact that I'm doing laundry calculating how many sun hours we have before I have to collect it from the clothesline.
(and that I put the comforter away literally last week and I still have a heavy quilt on the bed... it's still only 21°C in my house ffs!)

Still using the markers I found, I drew my new favourite italian elf girl eating monster tongue! Boiled cow tongue with salsa verde is a common dish in Piemonte (northen Italy), salsa verde is a green sauce made with parsley, anchovies, garlic, vinegar and other things

I was thinking (and this is not a thingy against the happiness of my ac milan moots bc I don't support napoli either it's just a casual thought)
it's poetic and romantic and everything that is good in football right now that napoli is leading serie A. I say this as a supporter of that stupid club from the north who also lives up north. Napoli is south italy, and south italy has had quite a terrible history of discrimination from northeners: from being poorer, from being just...more mediterranean? more distant to "europe" ? closer to africa?
just think: some ugly inter milan, ac milan, juve, atalanta or lazio supporters (etc) still love to chant about people from napoli deserving cholera. And Naples went through a terrible cholera epidemic back in the 70s, something unreal when you think of a european country, right? When people from the south migrated up north to find jobs, it was even difficult for them to find houses to live, because nobody wanted to rent to them. financial exploitation of the south from the north it's what italy was built upon. And that discrimination is still very true today, with half of the country way much poorer than the other.
And if you look at serie A only THREE clubs out of TWENTY are from anywhere under Rome. And this is why Napoli is very much into football and the whole city is already celebrating. You might say this is just a sport but it's not and never will be.
