How can I focus on something if my mind is somewhere else? That chaos is still here.

For almost 2 months I worked on a 28 pages one-shot for the global comic awards. I wasn't sure if share the result with someone or … here, it took me 2 days to decide. Frankly I’m embarrassed by the quality, the art style is inconsistent and the story, well, the story is kind of simple (and stupid). I wanted to partecipate in this contest because I thought that maybe it would help me get out of my slumb (I don’t even aim for one of the prizes), but it didn’t help me at all. It was difficult working on it, most of the time I couldn’t concentrate and felt guilty for wasting my time. In the end I haven’t even do a final check of the drawings and dialogues, I’m quite disappointed with myself.

hi, i just stumbled on your art today, and so what i have to say may not mean much, especially since I’m a writer and not a visual artist… but I saw your tags on your pinned post and I looked through your art…

I know you’re on hiatus and may not even seen this note, but I wanted to say something before I moved on.

I have been there before… a couple years ago, my depression got so bad that I came 🤏 close to deleting my entire google drive, the only place i have most of my writing saved, aside from what I’ve posted on my blog or ao3. I just felt like everything I wrote was absolute garbage and there was no salvaging any of it…

But thankfully, I didn’t. And I wrote a fic where my character did it “for me,” instead. Ofc, bc my depression was so thick I struggled writing that and it wasn’t until it lifted some I was able to write it properly… but once it cleared I was so relieved I had not done it…

My point is that these feelings will pass. I may not be an expert on art but I can tell you have talent and skill that you’ve honed and some of your pieces are absolutely remarkable…. the one you did with Sebastian and Undertaker, for example, really captures the tension between them… and the jjk piece you did for the zine is one of the coolest pieces of fan work i’ve ever seen.

So ofc give yourself time, but you have NOT wasted your efforts with your art. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks so, but I thought hearing it, even from a random stranger, might help.

I don't even know how I started following you? but I enjoy your art whenever I see it, even though I think we have like at most 5% fandom overlap so I know literally none of the content, I still like the style and your vibe.

Anyway I hope the hiatus is positive for you, and thanks for everything you shared until now 🙂 I've both put down hobbies temporarily or permanently depending on how I feel about them so; I hope you find what is right for you

In April 2024 I realized a short animation for a project that I never shared here on Tumblr, now I decided to redo it just for this blog. This version of the animation is less structured, I worked more on the character design, there is no music and the overall result is a bit messy, but I felt the need to do something anyway.
