“So, okay, question.”

“Answer.”

Jimmy snorted. “Shut up.” He nudged Tango playfully, who proceeded to dramatically scream and topple off of the log they were sitting on top of. Jimmy shushed him while dying of laughter, pulling him back upright. “My goodness, and they’ve been calling me a drama queen.”

“I am the drama-est of all drama queens, emphasis on the drama.” Tango replied, dusting the sand off of his witch hat.

Jimmy looked to him and smiled, shaking his head. Between the hustle and bustle of Tango’s witch training and Jimmy’s law-upkeeping duties, they had found it hard to really spend some time together, just Team Rancher. But Scar had intervened, telling Jimmy he needed a “cute date night” and set up a small campfire area for them. Jimmy was still trying to figure out why Scar had told him to “have fun with the boot knocking” with copious winks.

“Anyway, I was going to ask a question.” Jimmy said.

“Right, yes, okay, I am listening.” Tango replied, even going so far as to put his face into his hands to look at him.

“You know, since you, and a bunch of the other double life guys came, it kind of brought back up some old memories, old questions I thought I’d never get to ask you about.”

Tango nodded. “Kinda weird to think about, some soulmates like Impulse and Bdubs and Grian and Scar, got to see each other after it was all over. I really did think I’d never see you again, buddy.”

“Same!” Jimmy said. “I mean, it just seemed like it was all done forever, until the next game, and it wouldn’t be the same like it was.”

“Well, I mean, to be fair, nothing will ever be the same as it was in double life ever again… that’s what makes the games so unique, I guess.” Tango said.

Jimmy was quiet for a moment, watching Tango’s face in the flickering firelight. He didn’t like that Tango said that. He didn’t like that Tango was right. A cowboy and an ice witch sat in friendly silence, the silence of two people who knew each other in a way that no one else ever would, because such a thing could never been replicated, much less brought back to full life. And of course, Jimmy had had a sinking feeling of it, when Tango said he was going to help fwip with his redstone and Shelby with her spells… time had held the ranchers in a strange limbo while in double life, but it, sadly, marches on, leaving the memories of golden summertime at the ranch just that: memories.

“I was wondering what you said. When it was all over. Like, when you, when we, died for the last time. Because we were apart, it was sudden. I said I was sorry, for the record. To you.” Jimmy said after a long silence. The nighttime and the fire, thankfully, made long silences more acceptable, and Tango didn’t seem to notice any kind of sad yearning in Jimmy’s demeanor.

Tango rubbed his chin with his hand, sighing. “You’re still here? It’s over. Go home. Go.” He chuckled quietly. “It’s an old movie quote, it kinda just popped into my head and I kept repeating it. It was funny, at the time, but the longer time went on the sadder it made me feel. Not even quite sure who I was talking to.”

“It’s over. Go home.” Jimmy repeated. There was another long silence, interrupted only by the crackles of the fire. They looked at one another, these two people from different worlds, brought together and torn apart by the strange cruelty of fate. “But what is home, really?”

“I don’t quite know, buddy.” Tango replied.

Jimmy turned away first, back towards the hypnotic movement of the flames. “I don’t know either.”

"You could get clearance for the personnel files."

"I tried already. The tribunal denied it under the Articles of War Act."

"Articles of-- but the Oberon got raided months before they blew up Svoboda!"

"And most of her crew was career Admiralty, Mike."

"Michael."

"Michael. Anyway. I pulled what I could from Confederacy records. Mostly unmarried, no children, Admiralty families. No one to tell."

"What about Stanislav?"

"Disembarked on Hemera on account of the heart attack. Some latent hereditary defect that they never checked for, per the Oberon's medical records. Most of it was redacted, but it was all routine up to Cho having to take command."

"And Cho?"

"Laser blast to the abdomen. He didn't regain consciousness when the Amon-Ra boarded. But no living family as far as I can figure. He had a mother and sister on Astraeus before though."

"New Providence?"

"Yeah. Right in the blast radius."

"Anyone else?"

"Hua and Donovan had family back in the Cetus Quadrant. I tracked down Donovan's nephew. He didn't know anything."

"And nothing of interest in the University files?"

"Hours of riveting holo-vid. When he wasn't experimenting with lichen on his free time, Dr. Mokri was mostly a sub-arctic algae researcher. Only an indirect connection with the terraforming project itself."

"So did she tell you anything even marginally useful?"

"Some of her father's colleagues at the Brighton Foundation might still be alive. Zahava Meier and Fred Okeke."

"The Brighton Foundation?!"

"She didn't know very much. They funded a lot of pet projects, apparently."

"I don't recognize the names."

"They weren't on the Oberon. Fred Okeke was a hydroponics engineer before he retired. He did some consulting, but mostly post-settlement."

"And Meier?"

"Dr. Meier was still a graduate researcher then. Savannah thinks she might have gotten custody of the core samples at some point. She only came out to Hemera once, a conference or something. Savannah doesn't remember her."

"Anything else?"

"Nothing concrete. She was a teenager when it happened."

"And it's been seventy years."

"Sixty-nine. Yeah. The rescue or recovery mission was called off because of the war."

my sisters wedding was sunday and it was okay. it wa sa shit show to start the venu didn’t have the tables/chairs out like they said they would

but it worked out cause we had hands with us and we were able to get them how my sister wanted them

the fucking guy that worked there pulled up with the chairs in a golf cart and said “i need a woman to tell me where to put these” fucking pissed me off. but whatever. i went over there and bossed people around. had to argue with the grooms mom because she’s dense and doesn’t understand what i’m saying.

my sisters (both) had snapped at me because i was asking questions to the photographer because what she was doing didn’t make sense. but after that i just shut my mouth. she didn’t even have us pose properly for the family photos so it’s all mismatched/uneven number of people on both sides of the bride and groom when it could have been even

whatever. it was a nice day i got fucking plastered. woke up with sore throat and a hangover. we had an “after party” at my parents house. my dads best friend and our cousin and his girlfriend and their baby came to hang out and drink more lol

jamesvmcmorrow: late 2021 I got a phone call asking me if I wanted to come to London to meet @louist91 and possibly write some songs. A few years ago he released a statement talking about changing his path musically, instead of the immediate search for hits, he’d start with music he genuinely loved and see where it got him. Seems like a simple and obvious thing to say, but considering the amount of people just chasing hits with little regard for vision or artistry, a statement like that struck me when I read it. So I was excited to meet him and see what he was about. First day we met we all wrote Common People, second day we wrote Lucky Again. In December of last year we went back in again, finished those ones, wrote and produced 3 others that are also on this album. It was the studio line-up of dreams, @mrfredball @jmoon1066, @riley_mac. Shouts to Louis for letting us do our thing, letting a dork like me come write some weird lyrics and weird melodies, trust us to shape the vision that he had. These last few years were dark at times, but it was moments like that where I remembered why I’m obsessed w music and why it’s all I’ve ever understood. incredibly proud of the work, Holding on to Heartache is genuinely one of my most favourite songs I’ve ever been a part of.

Also I was reading something about the album and it mentioned something about the gospel choir on the bridge of that song… nah man thats’s just 200 stacked of me singing super super high in the studio out back of Fred’s house😂]

Filming has commenced in Leeds and Belgium on the six-parter from Professor T producer Eagle Eye Drama, which follows Tomlinson’s Evie and Pete (Harry Potter star Alfred Enoch), who move into an upscale neighborhood and find themselves in a world of curtain twitching and status anxiety. They find friendship in the shape of the couple next door, alpha traffic cop Danny (Heughan) and his wife, glamorous yoga instructor Becka (Jessica De Gouw), but after Danny and Evie share a passionate night together, there is trouble ahead.

The U.S. streamer and UK network, who never have co-produced together, described The Couple Next Door as a “psychological drama, exploring the stultifying claustrophobia of suburbia and the fallout of chasing your darkest desires.”

Tomlinson is best known for playing Demelza Poldark opposite Aidan Turner across five seasons of hit BBC drama Poldark. Other credits include Stephen Merchant comedy-drama The Outlaws and Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of David Nicholls’ One Day.

Scottish actor Heughan is gearing up for a seventh season of Starz hit Outlander, in which he plays Jamie Fraser, while he is also starring in Priyanka Chopra Jonas rom-com Love Again with Celine Dion – set for May release. He generated headlines recently when his memoir revealed how a brutal rape scene in Outlander Season 1 had impacted him negatively.

Marcella writer David Allison is penning The Couple Next Door, Professor T‘s Dries Vos is directing, and EPs are Jo McGrath, Walter Iuzzolino and Alison Kee.

The thriller is based on Dutch series New Neighbours and feeds into Eagle Eye’s strategy of turning European hits into shows for the major English-language markets, following Channel 4’s Suspect, which is based on a Danish series, and ITV’s Professor T, which is based on a show from Belgium.

The show was commissioned by Channel 4’s Caroline Hollick and Rebecca Holdsworth. EVP Programming Karen Bailey is overseeing The Couple Next Door for Starz, and it will be distributed by Beta Film.
