no headcannon about labrunta?
Labraunda?
Let's see...
In Nopes, a NPC says it was found in the Imperial palace, like some other Holy Weapons (other sacred weapons) so maybe after the WoH Macuil and Indech didn't recover them and left them to their human friends, or Adrestia seized them from whatever place they were left in...
And current Adrestia is the kind of entity who will "seize" useful weapons if they happen on them (thanks to a NPC).
Granted, for who Labraunda would have been made? Rhea already fights using a sword, and she has no rank in axes.
Wilhelm? Willy was a Holy Knight, and you can bet your ass off that if Labraunda was Willy's weapon, it would have been identified as such (maybe by Supreme Leader who MAGAs or even Rhea who would be royally pissed), but nope, the weapon associated to Willy in 3 Nopes is Seteth's a shield.
If Labraunda really is from the WoH, Rhea only gave her blood to Wilhelm, which was passed on to his descendants, and we know who was his son (or at least one of them?).
Was Labraunda Lycaon's weapon?
HC it was but
with the added twist that it's super weird that Labraunda is, in 3 Nopes, a very plain weapon without any additional effects like the other Sacred Weapons.
And so, because MH has been eating at my mind and to celebrate today's legendary hero in FEH, Labraunda isn't a regular axe, but some sort of switch axe/weapon like Eckesachs but if Zeph used its spear mode.
lycaon was very sad he couldn't transform like mom so his uncles made a weapon that would transform for him
Supreme Leader cannot unlock the "switch mode", just like other emperors before her -
Helga I, who succeeded Lycaon after his "illness" swore on his axe to continue his fight to bring prosperity and peace to Adrestia, and used it to behead her the co-conspirators who planned the previous Emperor's "illness".
The weapon's association to Lycaon was lost to time, and it just became a random "holy axe" stored in the vault of Adrestia's glorious past - in fact, when Supreme Leader used it in Nopes to sack the Monastery, Rhea didn't immediately recognise it because it wasn't as shiny and polished as it had been back then and moreover, it didn't switch. Then she was in denial when they clashed blades, because it really looks like Labraunda but it cannot be, okay the Hresvelg opposes her but she wouldn't dare to use her own son's weapon against her, would she?
(maybe this is the reason why she was so adamant to recover Willy's shield?).
When Rhea recovers Labraunda from Supreme Puppet, she feels bad because this was Lycaon's weapon, he would never have used it like it was used for during this war, and she will keep "him" with her, until the Goddess walks the land again.
Then, she activates the "switch mode" to see if it's broken - which make the BL weapon nerds happy and super curious because "wow what kind of weapon is this" and even Supreme Puppet watches in awe, this thing is seriously super cool!

Fantasy Invader forgets whose paralogue is whose.
I couldn't help but bat out a quick post after I saw a truly incredible argument from Fantasy Invader.
I think there's one big, BIG indicator of how siding with Edelgard goes against Byleth's power. Their paralogue. They can't have their paralogue in the game if they side with Edelgard against Rhea.
He's obviously discussing Eternal Guardian, one of the few paralogues you lose access to by going into Crimson Flower rather than Silver Snow.
Eternal Guardian is not Byleth's paralogue, Fantasy Invader.
Tumblr media
It's Rhea's. You have to gain support with Rhea to get it. You're invited to it indirectly by Rhea. It adds to the mystery of who Rhea is. If Byleth has a paralogue at all, it's Tales of the Red Canyon, which is about Byleth indirectly through Sothis.
And consider that said paralogue is unlocked through having a support level with Rhea, something the player needs to work at completely at their own direction
Yeah, kinda like how you have to build support level with Edelgard and work completely at your own direction to get into Crimson Flower :)
(I didn't even realize Rhea had supports until late White Clouds in my first playthrough, when the support had already locked),
Yeah, Rhea's supports are kinda pointless. Getting anything but C usually involves deluging her in gifts, though it got easier after she was given lost items and the option to have tea with her via DLC. I think it's very hard to get her C support purely though dialogue options. Now I'm interested in giving that a test...
and as a result the player is given a reward for it later on (a shield that has a constant regenerative effect).
Yes, because that's the true value of the Shield of Seiros. Not the small insignificant part where it halves incoming monster damage, which is very handy against the Immaculate One and the Hegemon Husk.
Christ, he's as ignorant on gameplay as he is on lore, incredible.
Side with Edelgard, however, Rhea takes that for herself to fight you.
I tried to steal it one time. You can't. T_T Ditto for the Ochain Shield.
Paralogues are tied to the characters, and Byleth's is one of three Black Eagle ones we lose when siding with the Empire.
How on earth would Eternal Guardian develop Byleth's character? It's not about Byleth!
Caspar's shows he's still pissed at the Death Knight for what he did during White Clouds, highlighting his sense of justice,
No it's not, The Face Beneath is mostly about Mercedes and Emile. Their relationship takes up most of the focus in both the introduction and closing cutscenes, and Caspar's only part is to protect her and criticize him for not being a good brother.
while Ferdinand's has him learn his father, someone he wanted to bring to justice himself, was framed for the actions of Arundel/Thales
Framed specifically for the destruction of Hrym territory. Edelcrits try to be slippery with this one and say Lysithea is saying he was innocent of all the things, but that's not what she says:
Are you aware of how Duke Aegir was ruling the Hrym territory? He imposed harsh taxes upon the people—much harsher than on his own—making their lives very challenging. People fled their homes in droves to the neighboring Ordelia territory. But they were sent back from where they came. The Empire was occupying Ordelia territory as well, as it turned out. Issues were further complicated when Duke Aegir fell from power. Aegir was dismissed from his position, only to be replaced by Lord Arundel.
Also, that's interesting, Duke Aegir was made governor of Hrym territory, which neighbored Ordelia, during the Imperial occupation of Ordelia territory. It's pretty easy to infer then that Aegir might have also been governor over Ordelia as well. Just a thought to nibble on.
Anyways, on to more of Lysithea's talk:
Correct. And [Arundel] imposed even heavier taxes on the people, squeezing them painfully dry. The people were conscripted for duty. Any who opposed were killed on the spot. Lord Arundel did this in the name of Duke Aegir. ... Your father was by no means a great ruler. But it was Lord Arundel who stoked the fury of the people and directed that fury at your father. Duke Aegir is not perfect, but he's not the villain in this.
"This" being the heavy taxes, conscription, and murders.
which also creates the implication for the player that Aegir was simply being blamed for the experiments (coupled with the fact Hubert reveals in Flower Ionius was Arundel's puppet) and not the monster Edelgard made him out to be.
Lysithea's speech implies nothing of the sort aside from the fact that Arundel used and discarded Aegir, like he does everyone.
And that's on top of the game showing the unrest in the Empire over Edelgard starving her people to fight in a war they don't support.
No, the unrest in Hrym was over Arundel's misrule. Amazing, Fantasy Invader's apparently watched that scene, but only took from it the points that he thought helped him.
Not at all a surprise, given who we're talking about.
Byleth's shows that the relationship between Byleth and Rhea is a key part of their character, hence why they're always worried about her in Snow, Wind and Moon. Choosing the options to side with Edelgard, framed by the game as "changing the story," goes against Byleth's story arc.
...Only if you develop said relationship. If they aren't at C support then it's skipped entirely. It's not integral to the game and you admitted yourself it's so missable that you couldn't unlock it yourself! Compare this to Edelgard's C support where you'd have to be trying to miss it.
Phew, it's not often that FI graces us with new theories, but when he does they're often amazing in all the wrong ways.

heavy heart, heavier armor
The Lone Moon looms ever closer, and recent history has clearly shown that nothing good has ever come out of that month, whether it’s life-or-death missions or final exams. Students hailing from Faerghus have banded together to put on a seminar, hoping to put their peers through their paces with traditional Faerghus knight training. Most students balk at the idea of having to survive even one night in the woods in full armor with training weights attached, but those sweet, sweet Seal techniques and Ochain Shields aren’t just going to drop onto your lap in the real world… [Grants Heavy Armor +1]
There are few things in the world that Lyn hates more than feeling restricted.
Even on the battlefield, Lyn prefers light armor that restricts as little movement as possible. Sacae’s sword style--Lyn’s sword style-- relies on speed, swiftly striking the opponent’s weak points. Besides, heavy armor hardly suits a nomadic lifestyle. It’s a waste of energy to carry anything that might slow you down the next time you move camps.
So, how exactly did she end up in the middle of the woods, decked out in full armor (plus extra)? Well, a little birdie told her about a seminar that was supposed to help challenge your limits. Even after finding out the details, Lyn refuses to back out on pure principle. Her personal distaste for armor aside, if she never pushes herself, her skills will never grow. Besides, it would be a shame for the hosts if they went through all the effort to prepare this seminar and no one actually attended.
...None of this changes the fact that each and every one of Lyn’s limbs feel like lead. Every step she takes feel like trudging through the mud, an impressive feat considering the bone dry winter air that bites at Lyn even through the armor.
She sends a silent apology in her heart out to all of Caelin’s knights who endured Wallace’s training, including one who should, by all means, be in Ostia at this very moment.
“Kent? What are you doing here?”

HONEY! THE MINIONS CAN EXPLODE?! — team 11, iron round
MIDORI’S SMILE WAVERED at the sudden pulsing between her eyes.  she did not stumble, though the ground moved beneath her feet.  her eyes closed, her grip on the heavy staff tightened, then loosened; when she attempted another grip, her fingers closed around air.  midori opened her eyes and choked back a gasp.  whether of amazement or fear, she could not spend time identifying the feeling when there were massive hunks of metal in front of her.  like... massive massive!  and there were multiple of them—   four, to be exact.  but the one in the back, behind some flickering veil that seemed cast around it, looked like the baddest guy there.
fists clenched, midori swallowed and whispered,   “   holy sweet cakes, what is that?   ”   then, surprise colored her face in a faint flush.  midori looked down at her hands, finally aware of the lack of weight from the staff.  instead, there was a shield clipped tight by a band around her forearm.  that was... all, really.  despite the oddness of it all, midori couldn’t argue since she adored how the ochain shield flashed a glow of light within its gems every time she shook it!
ochain shield! heals midori for 1hp!   (   midori hp = 10 / 10   )
a groan of metal sounded in front of them and midori turned towards her team, smiling bright and hopeful,   “   i’ll go first!  watch my back, friends.   ”   she was sure that, even if something went wrong, her teammates would be there to cover her mistake.  so, determined and bright-eyed, midori turned back towards the beasts of metal and raised her hands.  the weight of the shield made it a slight struggle but it was nothing that she couldn’t handle—   nothing would compare to the travel case she carried daily!
midori! rolls d20 = 7! ‘seraphim’ critically hits, 4 damage!   (   radio scout: bulwark a hp = 6 / 10   )
the incantation fell from her lips in an easy roll of enunciation.  at the call, light burst from midori’s hands and enveloped in an explosion around the closest scout beast.  if she looked close enough, peered through the brightness of the spell, then she would guess that there had been a flicker of feathers from the blast.  angel wings, midori thought, then ignored it at the sound of the scout’s metal whirring and churning.
black ice node! rolls d3 = 1! ‘radio scout: bulwark a has been deactivated!
suddenly, there was silence.  midori blinked wildly; once at the beast, twice at her hands, before whirling around to face her team.  her fists flickered with a faint glow but she paid little mind to them as she shook her hands excitedly.   “   did you guys see that!?  i think it stopped working.   ”   a glance was thrown back to the other two scouts.   “   we might have to do the same to those two, right?   ”

As Though Roy’s Movement Needed Nerfed [Leif & Roy]
Starter for @diadic
The Lone Moon looms ever closer, and recent history has clearly shown that nothing good has ever come out of that month, whether it’s life-or-death missions or final exams. Students hailing from Faerghus have banded together to put on a seminar, hoping to put their peers through their paces with traditional Faerghus knight training. Most students balk at the idea of having to survive even one night in the woods in full armor with training weights attached, but those sweet, sweet Seal techniques and Ochain Shields aren’t just going to drop onto your lap in the real world... [Grants Heavy Armor +1]
There was chill, which stung the skin, but bitter cold which sank bone deep. Even weighed down in armor and weights, the metal shell around him offered surprisingly little comfort.
Faerghus took training seriously.
Never one for heavy armor, but always one for growing, Roy trudged along behind the other students. He made every effort to not fall behind or show displeasure, preferring to persevere instead of complaining. The only reason he wasn’t actively shivering was because he was too tired to. Roy stumbled for a moment, suddenly too warm, vision of leafless forest and snow flurries blurring into a streaked painting of dark browns, white, and greys.
No, he wouldn’t fail before the end of the course. Surely mercenaries from Ilya trained like this too. He had to push himself to, no matter how difficult. He’d had to fight in frigid conditions before, but he was ashamed to think that all it took was hours of ridiculously weighted down armor and freezing conditions to keep him from moving.
Alright. He felt like a frozen ant under a rock. Physically fit, but without the bulk needed for this sort of thing.
A tiny break would be okay.
His legs gave out from under him and he fell into the snow, propped up against a tree. With his newfound energy, he shivered, sleepy and ready for a nap. His eyes slid closed, just for a minute...

Defying Stars [Team Five Silver Round]
Silver Round starter for @childofvalla, @poweroverflowing, @ulircursed
The winged beast falls to the ground, and the quake of its impact tears the realm apart as well. It takes all of Julius’ strength and willpower to keep himself standing, though were it not for Oberon’s first aid, he would probably have been knocked flat by now. The rumbling lasts for hardly more than a second or two, despite the way it feels, and in the blink of an eye, stillness and quiet comes to settle over this space between worlds again.
The silence is startling and vast, weaving between the galaxies and celestial bodies that have come to encircle the realm like cold spectators of a gladiator’s match. Stars blink in and out of the swath of endless indigo that has come to replace the solid bars of the bird cage in which they had been trapped just moments ago, and Julius marvels at the sensation of infinite freedom mingling with that of eternal imprisonment. They can go anywhere and nowhere all at once.
Some distance away stands a tall sage cloaked in the mantle of a galaxy, face shrouded in shadow. At his feet, two myrmidons await their orders. A lion-faced shield has come to manifest in Julius’ own hands - perhaps the storybook’s answer to his past performance - and he tests its weight on his arm. The barons of his homeland who would sling spells from their fortresses come to mind first, and how even the sharpest blades often couldn’t touch them. A smirk crawls across his lips.
He’d be the valiant, battle-scarred king this time then; the one that books and songs were written about, whose feet would be kissed by the common people everywhere he went. Like that of the Scion of Light. And-- his eyes sweep over the other three to assess their new weapons-- Oberon would be his subject.
“Keep up with me!” he calls to his party and charges ahead. He can already feel power surging through his shield arm, reinvigorating the rest of his body.
Julius recovers +1HP with Ochain Shield, 10/10HP
Their enemies make note of his charge immediately, so he dashes off to the left to catch the bow-wielding myrmidon’s attention.
“Do your worst!” he sneers, for no response. “Your pitiful arrows will not be able to leave even a scratch on me!”
Darkness coalesces around Julius, the buzzing of hundreds of insects filling the expansive silence as the swarm manifests.
Julius misses Myrmidon B 66/66HP with Swarm! [Roll: 10 - 5 = 5, -0HP]
But the myrmidon is faster than the meandering insects and rolls nimbly out of the way, nocking an arrow all in one swift motion.
Myrmidon B counters with Magic Bow! [Roll: 16, -3HP - 2Res = -1HP] Julius’ HP: 9/10
A star shoots through the air in a dazzling arc and cuts past Julius’ exposed shoulder. He hadn’t counted on the weapon being magic and frowns sharply. The arrow, too, leaves him feeling enervated, as if it had put the magic in his veins to sleep.
Julius is inflicted with Seal Magic, -2 Magic until Round 2 Player Phase
Well, he couldn’t possibly be useless this time.
“I have tricks of my own, too.”
Holding his shield in front of him, Julius lunges forward and tackles the myrmidon to the ground, foregoing his own defenses to wrestle the weapon out of its hands. The phantom seems caught off guard by this unexpected turn of events and doesn’t even manage to struggle.
Myrmidon B is inflicted with Seal Defense, Seal Movement, and Seal Magic, -4 Defense, -2 Magic, and cannot attack anyone but Julius until Round 2 Player Phase

An Absolute and yet Unnecessary in Terms of Both Content and Length Collection of Headcanons Regarding House Aegir and Aegir Territory Composed of and Written Entirely by Yours Truly Purely for your Perusing Pleasure and / or Staunch Endurement:
•   House Aegir heraldry consists of two rampant,  horned stallions. The Ochain shield stands upright at the center,  a symbol of Saint Cichol that signifies the saint’s prominence within the family.  The house colors are  red  ( courage and strength )  and  navy blue  ( power, authority,  and the sea ). The house motto roughly translates to    “sure and steadfast.”
•   Aegir itself is a duchy atop the inland Pearl Sea,  however its jurisdiction and territories span from the northeastern Hrym across the entire eastern seaboard down to southern Rusalka and Boramas,  the latter of which is the capital. Though its size gives it a range of topographies,  it is best known for its  sweeping plains and open country that turn into  picturesque machair  leading to the coast,  where it becomes marshy with a few lochs. The beaches are composed of  crushed rock and shells  rather than sand, so one cannot walk upon them comfortably while barefoot.  Frequent but short rain showers are common;  one must always travel with a parasol near the coast.
•   The Aegir duchy and the Pearl Sea are bordered by steep,  treacherous cliffs.  It is one of the most dangerous coves in the Empire and once bore the unsavory title of  “Sailor’s Barrow.”   In the year 922,  a massive lighthouse  was erected at the center that has since staved off shipwrecks,  and now lively ports exist at each river mouth,  though they are much smaller than the bustling Boramas port to the south. Since the lighthouse was built,  the fire has never once been doused,  an enduring symbol of Aegir’s unwavering spirit that is often the focal point in paintings.  Some rumors claim that the fire itself is of a magical nature,  a gift from Aegir’s most longstanding trading partner,  Morfis.  Whether it is or not is a closely guarded secret known only to the Duke.
•   The cove is home to a variety of sea life:   mollusks,  shellfish,  kelp,  and the Pearl Sea’s namesake—pearls—make up Aegir’s largest export.  Aegir seafood is considered a luxury food and is entirely too expensive,  though it has absolutely nothing to do with taste and everything with the inherent dangers of acquiring it.
•   The open country,  meanwhile,  is home to free-roaming herds of Aegir destriers  which are heavily protected by both duchy and Imperial law.  Warhorses and draft horses make up another large export,  though House Aegir exclusively sells  geldings  to ensure that no other family / territory can breed Aegir stock,  which is the most renowned horse pedigree in Fódlan.  A set number of destriers are conscripted by the Imperial army each year,  but those of the highest pedigree serve exclusively as the steeds of the famous  Aegir Astral Knights,  of which is the most sought-after title by Aegir youth.  Many permanent residents of Aegir territory are horsemasters,  if not fishermen,  winemakers,  or merchants.  House Aegir adamantly refuses to sell horses to the Kingdom,  for reasons detailed shortly hereafter.
•   The capital city of Boramas is a steaming hotbed of the ostentatiously rich and wealthy.   It is a vast,  sprawling city composed almost exclusively of lavish villas and summertime estates with a port that rivals Enbarr.  There is hardly a politician in the Imperial Palace who does not also own a summer villa in Aegir to waste away the yearly recesses in luxury and style.  It is also a popular hub for  poets and artists  seeking noble sponsorship. Overlooking the city from a far but ever-visible rise  ( there is nowhere you can stand in the city and not be overshadowed by it ),  the Aegir Estate is the most extravagant of all.
•   What makes Boramas one such hotbed?  Its Bacchus.  The Boramas region has been celebrated for its fine Bacchus since the early eras of Empire,  and,  as mentioned in the Shadow Library,  its Bacchus is a luxury drank during the weddings of emperors.  Bacchus grapes give a white wine with a powerful flavor oft described as “exuberant,”  and at the other end of the spectrum can yield a dry,  crisp,  refreshing wine that,  when slightly chilled,  is one of the few wines that pairs well with raw fish.  Bacchus grapes thrive exclusively along the colder,  rainier coasts of Adrestia.  In recent years,  thanks to exploration and advancements in the winemaking craft,  Bacchus has been blended with other white wine variations to give them more flavor,  causing the demand to surge.  Bacchus is Aegir’s second largest export,  and like everything else,  is dreadfully expensive.
•   Boramas is also renowned for its annual equestrian games,  which draw athletes and audiences from every corner of Fódlan.  The games consist of sports such as chariot racing,  dressage,  jousting,   and others,  the champions of which—and their horses—are worshiped as celebrities rivaling Enbarr’s gladiators.
•   Morfis is Aegir’s most extensive trading partner,  despite the Church’s sanctions against outside trade.  The Boramas port is a hub for new technologies,  spells and magical components,  and other expensive treasures from the east,  which often culminate in fabulously expensive  seaside auctions.  Put plainly,  House Aegir is simply too powerful of an entity for the Church to do much at all to stop trade,  and the wealth made from Morfis outpaces the Church’s fines at a laughably exponential rate.
•   Aegir’s staunchest ally / trading partner within Fódlan and outside of the Empire is Gloucester.   Aegir has many allies within the Liecester Alliance and very minimal dealings with the Kingdom,  for a variety of political reasons;  namely that Aegir cut ties with Kingdom territories after the War of the Eagle and Lion.  In a blatant show of disrespect toward the Kingdom,   Aegir happily welcomed back its once-removed trading partners from the Alliance upon the end of the Crescent Moon War,  while continuing to snub Faerghus entirely—as one of the wealthiest regions in all of Fódlan hardly requires its patronage !

~☆~ the gang's all here ~☆~
Tumblr media
Run updates, for the like two people following along:
Okay, we did chapters 3, 4, and 5 today (whew boy)
All of them went very well. I've used very few divine pulses so far - using ng+ was probably unnecessary, I feel OP. As far as class progress goes, everyone is level 16/17.
Anna is not doing so hot... we're working on it. She's now a pegasus knight w Byleth, so they're flying around and having a nice time together, but reclasses for higher strength growths during aux battles.
Yuri is stuck on the ground all alone, currently as a priest bc otherwise I would have no healer. He uses a sword half the time anyway, and is still stronger than Anna. I've decided to make him my dancer, have Flayn be a bishop, and have Manuela be a trickster. I think that will work better than the previous plan (trickster!Yuri, dancer!Flayn, bishop!Manuela). also considering falcon knight manuela, that could be fun
Edelgard is now on a pegasus, soon to be a wyvern, and will be a lot easier to keep out of the way.
The big news:
I recruited Shamir! I've done the first week of exploration in chapter six, so snagged her ASAP. Now I just have to get her caught up with everyone lol
Tumblr media
The Kill Off the Kids plan:
I have *ahem* disposed of Hubert and Bernadetta (rip Hubernie, ur one of my favorite ships so I'm letting you go down together). Dorothea is next, as soon as I do her paralogue, and I'll send Petra down with her (my OTPs will burn together ok it's romantic). I'm recruiting Ingrid so I can get Luín, since I'm doing that paralogue anyway and it seems silly to do it without getting all the rewards. Therefore, I'm going to also recruit Sylvain to do his paralogue and then send THOSE two to hell together as well. Lorenz is up next, he has no soul mate and will die alone.
Caspar, Ferdinand, and Linhardt all have to survive to part II, and I'll need to recruit Lysithea, Mercedes, and Leonie for those paralogues. As long as they're already recruited, I'm going to keep Lysithea around to pair with Cyril, and keep Mercedes to romance her. Leonie, I haven't decided. It feels appropriate to keep her around, plot wise? The boys will die for sure though lol rip. Lysithea will have to be trained into dark flier so that she can hang out in the sky with her bf, so we'll work on that.
btw i'm not doing every paralogue, only the ones that are for my actual team or I really want items from (ochain shield for Seteth bc lol hes Cichol, thyrrsus for hanneman, rafail gem for Anna, the inexhaustible for cyril or shamir.)

☼ problem-free philosophy (aka Kill It Dead) | team 3 steel round
Again with the revolution of equipment? Perhaps Ferdinand should not have been surprised to find it happening again, though it still takes him off guard. It always seems to occur whenever the fight is nearing completion, which both heartens and unnerves the ginger; how many more fights must they endure before they can free their comrades? In any case, the young heir finds himself fitted with a bow, two rings, and a shield, the garb of an assassin clothing his frame. An assassin?! Could there be a less noble class than this?! I am meant for glory and battle, not skulking in the shadows! Who in the world is arbiting these choices?! I wish to speak with them posthaste!
The enemy contains only two opponents... but these appear tremendously strong compared to those the group has fought in the previous battles. Ferdinand gulps, but adjusts his grip on his bow and aims at the smaller foe, evidently a minion of the larger one. "Although you may not be responsible for our situation, I will still punish you for obstructing our way! Prepare to taste defeat served by my hands!"
Prayer Ring and Ochain Shield activate! Health restored: 2. Ferdie: 8.5/10 HP
Roll Magic Bow: 9. Hit! Damage dealt: 5. Minion: 12/17 HP
Roll counter: 6. Hit! Damage dealt: 2.
Ochain Shield activates! -2 to damage dealt! Ferdie: 8.5/10 HP
Healing power flows into him from his shield and one of the rings, restoring about half of his injuries as he nocks an arrow and lets it fly. His shot tears a good chunk out of the flying projection, and although the thing strikes back in retaliation, Ferdinand moves at just the right moment to allow his shield to take the brunt of the damage. Well, now. Though I believe the class selected for me to be wholly ill-fitting, this is quite good equipment. I will have to thank our dear Projectionist if she was the one to choose it for us.
"Marianne," he calls, "would you be a dear and heal up Lady Lindgren? She seems as though she requires it the most."
It is only after he asks that that he realizes he slipped quite the unintentional pun in there. "Ah, I did not mean 'deer' as in the mascot of your House, but 'dear' as in 'darling'—er, pay me no mind, I suppose."

the fog of night
The Lone Moon looms ever closer, and recent history has clearly shown that nothing good has ever come out of that month, whether it’s life-or-death missions or final exams. Students hailing from Faerghus have banded together to put on a seminar, hoping to put their peers through their paces with traditional Faerghus knight training. Most students balk at the idea of having to survive even one night in the woods in full armor with training weights attached, but those sweet, sweet Seal techniques and Ochain Shields aren’t just going to drop onto your lap in the real world… [Grants Heavy Armor +1]
A test of survival, they proclaimed.
As the sun began to set, their supposed training session fully swung itself in. Armor was not unfamiliar to her, latching itself onto her with an overwhelming ease. Still, that wasn’t to say Edelgard had experience wearing it throughout an entire night. The air was crisp, chillingly so were she not enwrapped the way she was.
No doubt could things go astray were people to wander around by themselves. For now, what Edelgard deemed best would be to study her surroundings. The grass below moves with her steps, a slower pace than what she may have otherwise been capable of without the extra protection. An eerie fog encompassed the area, thick and unwelcoming. From the distance, she could hear students shouting as they proclaimed, “I’ll race you! Let’s see who’s really the strongest!” “Nuh-uh! This armor won’t stop me from anything!” Ridiculous, truly.
Armor makes it difficult to hide their whereabouts- Perhaps another test of this supposed seminar. She imagined the fog to be someone’s undoing, and that it was. Even with Edelgard’s armor, she could hardly ignore the bump from behind her. An apologetic bow from the student ensued, quickly running away afterwards as they yelled, “Hey, hey! Why don’t you two join us?”
Lilac eyes narrow with a shake of the head as they ran off. “Immediately wearing ourselves thin like that would serve no benefit. Unless you have a desire to join the race..? If so, I’m sorry to say I’m not interested. As much as I’d rather not stand around doing nothing, running so early on is pointless.”

Willy's super sekrit weapon being a shield in nopes really felt weird, usually legendary heroes are remembered for their weapons not their shields
That's because Willy isn't the super duper legendary Adrestian Hero - that'd be Seiros
Yep, in Fodlan some figures have shields, Seiros has her own shield, just like, in FE16, Cichol but they also have weapons geared towards offense.
What's weird with Willy (Seteth)'s shield is how, per Rhea, this is the weapon associated to him - Willy was someone who conquered Fodlan, like we associate Walmart to his axe, but for Willy, he is remembered/associated with... something geared towards defense. That's not the traditional symbol of a conqueror, usually conquerors are represented by their swords, axes, etc
Not their shields - shields are meant to protect, not to invade.
(save for TS, where you can bash and kill people with shields - Willy knew how to use taunt?)
Maybe the devs didn't think much about it and just wanted to bully Seteth, but I already noticed how in FE16 Willy's statue depicts him as a Holy Knight - a crap unit (in FE16) who is supposed to fight using a pony, but white magic is also associated with healing.
So Willy was in a mixed class that could help and support allies, and the weapon he's remembered using to "unite Fodlan" was a shield. Was he supposed to be a "paladin" (armor+pony+shield? Or worse, a Holy Great Knight) ?
tfw paladins are associated to chivarly - something current adrestia abhors
In any case, it's really different from the current Emperor who is an armored unit known for her axe - Aymr is Supreme Leader's axe, and Labrunda is something Adrestians found in their palace, but not explicitely tied to Willy like the Ochain shield is supposed to be in Nopes.
Tl;Dr : i can't believe i've been writing shit about willy for 2 years
Nopes just reinforced the fact, already there in FE16 (especially in Doro's JP support convo with Hanneman) that Supreme Leader is not following in Willy's footsteps - the Mandate of Heaven that was given to the Hresvelg line is passed to the Blaiddyd line, through Dimitri.
(who compares himself to Willy - when he's crushing on a lizard blooded companion - and receives Willy's shield in Nopes ; granted, Dimitri is also compared, both in FE16 and Nopes, to Rhea herself).
Supreme Leader, by being everything Willy wasn't, achieves/accelerates the decadence/end of the Hresvelg Mandate.
So in a way, it's not that surprising that Willy's weapon was something so different from Supreme Leader, it's not an axe, it's a shield.

*realized after posting this that I've never introduced Una on my blog before. 'Una Ochain" (used a name generator when I got her) was Lirah's angel (the party kinds became up and coming gods after arriving in a new world in this campaign)*
A sequel to this comic and this doodle on the top right. Didn't want to do dialogue or anything extra. I really like the last panel so I put more effort into it
