For @bizarrelittlemew 's Mermay Bingo, this immediately popped into my head for the prompt "pearls".

I do plan to fully colour this, but I wanted to at least get the lineart posted while its still Mermay 😅

I just like the idea of stickers... I'm not a good artist, as these doodles clearly show, but between doing this and scrolling through my feed, I'd rather be productive. Even if it's only for me.

there's a whole story in my head of how merman!Stede and kraken!Ed meet, fall in love and strike a bargain with a sea witch to be together against all odds... but it's probably not gonna be anything more than a set of home-made stickers and a single coloring page I'll likely never color.

I know it might be a bit short notice, but hey - it's almost Mermay!

This list of prompts has been put together for anyone wanting to participate in an Our Flag Means Death themed mermaid art challenge.

The purpose of this challenge is for you to post an artwork incorporating mermaids, inspired by the prompt for that day. All prompts are OFMD themed, but that doesn't mean you have to stick to the characters. Get creative. Get abstract. Just have fun with it. You can do odds, evens, or just a weekly post depending on your time constraints - or just pick out a few that speak to you. 

Finishing or fully rendering your work isn't important. What's important is that you're getting involved in community, practicing your skills, and having fun.

Don't forget to use the tags "mermay2022" and "ofmdmermay" so everyone can find your work.

This month I'm doing this very fun OFMDMermay bingo by @bizarrelittlemew. The prompts for this were Treasure Map, Jewelry and Sparkles.

Although this wasn't written for MerMay, my merman WIP is still going, and it's now May. I've got 44k words of my merman!Stede fic up, and it seems an appropriate time to boost, so here's a post for it! I can't believe I've now written almost 50k words of happy interspecies love at sea, but here we are. OFMD MerMay prompts it matches are: share, stunned, kindness, secret, swap, treasure, dinghy, island.

During a raid on a smuggler ship, Ed finds a merman named Stede locked in the hold. 

Inside is a tub that looks like it was cobbled together from wooden boards. And inside the tub is a merman.

He sits on the bottom of the tub, his back slumped against its wooden side. His tail is curled beneath the water’s surface, nearly tucked into a perfect circle in the cramped space. He looks pale and haggard, and there’s a shackle around his neck attached to a heavy chain in the wall.

He’s the most magnificent and most pathetic thing Ed’s ever seen.
