My former college roommate has been obsessed with Star Trek since she was a kid, 100% shipped Kirk & Spock, but had somehow missed the world of fanfiction.  Since we routinely give each other whatever strange new craft we’re learning, she needed a fanbinding gift for Christmas.  I wanted a fic that was short enough that it didn’t feel like I was giving her an assignment but still long enough to have a real plot, plus not too fluffy and not too angsty.  "Vulcans are Fangirls Too" was the goldilocks fic.

I am now in love with Octavos (8 pages per side of printer paper).  They’re so small and cute and perfect for stories around the 10,000 word range.  I had fun finally using the “command gold” bookcloth in my stash and I think I’m finally getting the hang of HTV - it turned out nearly perfect this time.

Formatted in LibreOffice Writer with Liberation Serif as the body text font, Eras ITC for the title page and page numbers, and Federation Classic for the spine title. There are several letters in this story so I used the Ink Free font for Kirk's handwriting and Segoe Print for Spock.

Finished late at night right before going to visit and exchange presents the next day.

I finished Octavo much faster than i finished Vaati, i wasn’t as confused on what to do for the shading, since i kept looking back at Vaati to keep it consistent

my favourite music boyo is done, now onto Shadow, and then i sketch out Reborn & Wrath

maybe i’ll also continue with Ravio & Astor as well, but i don’t know much about Astor since i haven’t played AoC yet

I had Cadence of Hyrule in my backlog for so long, I'm surprised just how much I liked it! mostly for Octavo tho he is a perfect loser 💜 I've been gone for several years, I no longer remember how to use this site. Might be back to dump art here but equally I might forget about it again?

This is a public domain piece of speculative fiction commissioned by the US government in the late 70s asking the question of what would happen in a small city if a nuclear bomb took out DC and many other major US cities.  I have no idea why they chose Charlottesville (maybe because it was close enough to DC that many of the target audience in Washington would have visited?).

I went with yellow and black on the cover to conjure up the old fallout shelter signs on public buildings, and the image on the cover page is the local university’s logo from the time period.  They used it up through the 90s but it was surprisingly hard to find online.  Thank goodness for the library’s online image collection.

I worked on this for a few days and I’m so so proud of it!! I’m proud of this AU in general but there’s a lot of stuff going on here in this piece, symbolism and designs and vibes and everything and it makes me grin. I pulled characters from a bunch of other Zelda games for this bc the Four Swords roster isn’t nearly large enough lol
