happy Masters of the Air release week. In honour of the series due to release on the 26th, I wanted to list a few faces we’ll be seeing throughout the series. I want to particularly note the crewmen of the 100th in hopes this makes sense to viewers who either a) didn’t have time to read any books based on the 100th bomb group, or b) want to read Masters of the Air by Donald L. Miller during/after the tv show aires. My lovely friend on tumblr @kylaym was happy to message me on instagram regarding who’s who for most of the 100th bomb group posts. She gets that everyone in uniform looks the same; same haircut, moustaches, masks, everywhere, etc. She mentioned it is always better to remember a bunch of lads as groups and crews than as individuals!
Here we gooo..
Colonel Neil “Chick” Harding
Tumblr media
A West Point graduate and the school’s football coach prior to the war. Harding was a seasoned aviator who truly emulated much of the 100th’s attitude. He exhibited an appreciation for his crew’s mental and emotional well-being.
Major John C. “Bucky” Egan and Major Gale “Buck” Cleven
Two of the squadron commanders, Majors John “Bucky” Egan of the 418th Bomb Squadron and Gale “Buck” Cleven of the 350th, had piloting skills which matched their personalities. (Found top row 3rd and 4th members from left to right).
Tumblr media
Captain John D. Brady
He served as a pilot in the 418th bomb squadron and was shot down during the mission to Munster on October 10th, 1943. (Shown here on the far left). He flew overseas in A/C #42-30071 “Skipper” as 1st Lt. Pilot. 2nd Lt’s being Lt. John L. Hoerr [Co-Pilot] and Lt. Harry Crosby [Group Navigator and Captain].
M/Sgt. Kenneth A. Lemmons
He served on the 351st Bomb Squadron and was one of the first crew chiefs assigned to the 100th Bomb Group. After being a part of the U.S. Air Force's ground crew, he was subsequently promoted to the position of flight chief. (Shown above in the front).
Harry H. Crosby
Harry served as a navigator in the 418th Bomb Squadron and later became Group Navigator for the Hundredth, however, his struggle with airsickness often hindered his ability to navigate. (Found above beside Brady on the right). Harry Crosby replaced Lt. Payne on the crew of Douglass.
Tumblr media
Payne is found above on the right, beside Harry Crosby.
Lt. Howard B. “Hambone” Hamilton
Tumblr media
He was a bombardier mostly known for flying with Brady’s crew.
On the October 10th Munster mission, crew #32 was led by Major John C. Egan as Co-Pilot. Near the initial point “Mlle Zig Zig” was hit by Flak, resulting in the following:
- Sgt Clanton passing away
- wounding Howard Hamilton and Roland Gangwer. (Both ended up spending a long time in the hospital).
- the surviving crew members bailed out but were taken prisoner.
Hamilton is seen above on the far left. Beside him on the left is Lt. James Douglass and Captain Frank Murphy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Captain James Douglass
Served as a bombardier in the 418th Bomb Squadron with the Everett Blakely crew. (Seen above in the first picture beside Blakely).
Major Everett E. Blakely
Was a career officer of the United States Air Force. He was a highly decorated pilot of the B-17 bomber with the Bloody Hundredth Bombardment Group of the 8th Air Force. He is most commonly known for his crew’s plane “Just a Snappin”. On a mission to Bremen on October 8th, 1943, his plane was severely damaged by flak and enemy fighters. He later became the Group Training Officer (Shown above on the right and next to Major John Egan in the second picture above).
Blakely’s Crew:
Major John Kidd- Command Pilot
1st Lt. Everett Blakely- Pilot
2nd Lt. Charles Via- Formation Officer in the tail (SWA on the mission during Black Week)
1st Lt. Harry Crosby - Navigator
2nd Lt. James Douglass - Bombadier
T/Sgt. Edmund Forkner - Radio operator
S/Sgt. William McClelland - Ball Turret Gunner (WIA on the Black Week mission)
S/Sgt. Edward Yevich - Waist Gunner (WIA on the Black Week mission)
S/Sgt. Lyle Nord - Waist Gunner
S/Sgt. Lester Saunders - Tail Gunner (KIA on the Black Week mission)
Tumblr media
Lt Roy Claytor
Roy Claytor was part of the 350th Squadron. Above, he may be flying as a command pilot in this mission or practice with the Claytor Crew.
He is seen above on the left, beside Cleven.
Major Robert 'Rosie' Rosenthal
Tumblr media
Rosie joins the unit in late 1943. He becomes one of the 100th's most reliable pilots.
Tumblr media
Rosenthal's Crew:
[Shown left to right; top row than bottom row]
Sgt. Loren Darling - Waist Gunner
Sgt. Michael V. Boccuzzi - Radio Operator/Gunner
Sgt. John H. Shaffer - Waist Gunner
Sgt. Clarence C. Hall - Top turret gunner/engineer
Sgt. William J. DeBlasio - Tail Gunner
Sgt. Ray H. Robinson - Ball Turret Gunner
Lt. Ronald C. Bailey - Navigator
Lt. Robert 'Rosie' Rosenthal - Pilot
Lt. Clifford J. Milburn - Bombardier
Lt. Winifred 'Pappy' Lewis - Copilot
Lt. Curtis Biddick
Tumblr media
Lieutenant Curtis Biddick was known as a ‘hard luck’ pilot but was recognised as exceptionally expert and courageous. ‘Every time he went out something seemed to happen,’ said one of his buddies. On one raid he brought his plane back with 1,700 shell and bullet holes in it and two wounded men aboard.
He clashes due to his English colleagues embarking on night-time raids.
Richard Snyder
Biddick's co-pilot and was part of the 418th Bombardment Squadron.
Okay.... So I truly hope this helps going into Masters of the Air tomorrow. I can't wait to see all the bomber boys spread their wings and fly. This tv series is going to be an absolute wreck (in the best way possible). Thank you to everyone who enjoys my posts. Love y'all.

The creators of She-Hulk legitimately don't know what they're doing
Tumblr media
I think a lot of people have heard the director state
"There's a lot of talk about her body type and we based it on Olympian athletes and not bodybuilders."
Does anyone want to know a specific "Olympian" they based She-Hulk's body off of?
"Olympian Misty Copeland was a body that we referenced, you know, of someone who was very, very, very strong, but also could walk through the world and operate in the normal world at a scale that is very large, but it's still very human because she has to go on dates she has to work in a regular office."
Tumblr media
Misty Copeland. Misty. Freaking. Copeland. She is a goddess and an icon. Here are some of her greatest accomplishments.
"2008 Leonore Annenberg Fellowship in the Arts and was named National Youth of the Year Ambassador for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2013. In 2014, President Obama appointed Copeland to the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition. She is the recipient of a 2014 Dance Magazine Award and was named to the 2015 TIME 100 by TIME Magazine." - American Ballet Theatre
Misty Copeland is an amazingly talented person, who has dealt with immense struggles due to her body type, but she is not an Olympian. She's a ballerina. Ballet, by definition from Oxford Languages,
"...is characterized by light, graceful, fluid movements."
I'm especially pissed because when growing up, I was a ballerina. And my sister was a Track & Field thrower. When I heard of She-Hulk as a kid, I always imagined her looking like my sister. Looking like her build - not the ones of prima ballerinas.
Tumblr media
While writing this, I've been sitting here thinking about how many great ACTUAL Olympians they could have used as inspiration for She-Hulk's build.
Tumblr media
Raven Saunders aka The Hulk. 2020 Tokyo Olympics Silver Medalist in Shotput.
Tumblr media
Hidilyn Diaz. 2020 Tokyo Olympics Gold Medalist and Record Holder in 55 KG Weightlifting.
Tumblr media
Tamyra Mensah-Stock. 2020 Tokyo Olympics Gold Medal in Freestyle Wrestling.
There are so many incredible female Olympians they could have used as inspiration. There are so many strength-based sports. The Summer Olympics alone have 33 sports.
But they specifically wanted She-Hulk's build to be inspired by
"not bodybuilders."
Even if this meant putting more work on the VFX Artists of the show who made her larger to begin with. Sean Ruecroft, a VFX Artist who worked on Infinity War and Moon Knight, took to Twitter to let people know the struggles Marvel put their team through.
"I was at a company that did VFX for this. Apparently, she was bigger early on, but the notes kept saying to ‘make her smaller.'"
They put more work on the artists, pushing them into the same inspiration that was used for Natasha Romanoff.
Tumblr media
"...light, graceful, fluid movements."
Tumblr media
The creators didn't want a Hulk. They wanted grace, sex appeal, and a tiny waist on an hourglass figure.

Dozens gathered around a sacred fire in Winnipeg's North End on Tuesday to remember a Métis woman found dead over a decade ago, after a suspect was arrested in connection with her death. Crystal Saunders, 24, was last seen getting into a vehicle at the corner of Sargent Avenue and Sherbrook Street in Winnipeg on April 18, 2007. The next morning, an off-duty police officer found the woman's remains in a ditch near St. Ambroise, a community about 80 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg. Her killing remained unsolved for years, but 42-year-old Kevin Charles Queau was linked to Saunders's death thanks to advancements in DNA technology, Manitoba RCMP revealed Monday.

Fitzjames & Irving
Tumblr media
May 1833: James Fitzjames doesn't mind partying hard on a Sunday. Guess who was a Midshipman on the Belvidera at that time? John Irving! Wonder if Irving was taking part in the festivities and if Fitzjames and Irving met each other then.
Sir Richard Saunders Dundas was the Captain of HMS Belvidera 1830-1833:
Tumblr media
Years later, on 27 January 1844, Irving wrote to his friend & Belvidera shipmate William Elphinstone Malcolm about a meeting with Dundas: “I met Captain Dundas in London; he was very kind. I have never met his equal since. He was in all respects a perfect officer and gentleman."

Post 1188
Before and After....
Malcolm Leroy Saunders, South Carolina 390034, born 2000, incarceration intake January 2023 at age 22, scheduled for release March 2025
Trafficking Cocaine, Carrying Prohibited Weapon
Saunders' first year in prison has been colorful. Within 3 months of his arrival he was sanctioned for possession of a weapon resulting in loss of privileges for 4 months, and a few months later sanctioned for "STG" (corrections talk for being part of a gang or 'Security Threat Group' etc."), which resulting in loss of privileges for 3 months. This was further followed by another sanction for "Trafficking and Trading" (discussed below), but it was a mild case, only 3 weeks of privileges were suspended.
Trafficking and Trading
Ramen noodles are to the prison economy what the dollar bill is to the U.S. economy. This basic unit of currency is widely exchanged for all sorts of things, and all of it, according to prison rules, is illegal.
Let's say, for example, that you're on one of those units where you only make inmate store once a month. It just so happens that you like peanut butter and jelly, but by the time you get to the commissary window, they are out of your beloved strawberry preserves.
Oh, the agony. Oh, the pain. But wait, there's hope!
Your homeboy tells you that Big Junior bought three jellies yesterday. You go to Big Junior and see if he'll take chili-flavored ramen soups ($1.50) for one bottle of his strawberry jelly ($1.30). Junior has plenty, of course, so he swaps the jelly and makes 20 cent profit for his trouble.
It's a win-win. Right? Wrong.
Because even though enforcement of the rule is lax, inmates can be sanctioned for that jelly if the officers were to find out about it. You'd think two grown men out to be able to decide what to keep and what they want to trade from their locker, as long as what’s being swapped is not banned from the unit. But, for inmates, the rules of the world are different.
The rules is ideally designed to dissuade things like drugs and weapons and selling of sexual favors. But they can be used for what appears to be 'honest' transactions.

I do actually headcanon holograms don't really count as people since it's stated in the novelization that holograms are essentially 'software ghosts.'
They are intangible and ethereal like a ghost.
They're manifestations comprised of data and programming.
Narratively speaking you can tell that's most likely what they were aiming for when they wrote about holograms.
Tumblr media
When Saunders was self-aware enough to realize that his wife, Carole, would be moving on with her life without him, or how Saunders wasn't even granted "planet leave" since the dead don't need rest and relaxation, as Space Corp. was his literal ball and chain, it's very telling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If it wasn't for Space Corps. utilizing this technology and from Saunders perspective he'd most likely wouldn't exist at all.
Tumblr media
Which begs the question: why does Red Dwarf need a token dead crew member? in a real-life scenario, where resources are often limited and efficiency is paramount, duplicating individuals with essential skills and qualifications would likely be prioritized.
Not chicken soup repair men.
This approach would ensure that critical areas of ship operations are adequately covered and that the crew is well-equipped to handle the demands of space travel. I'd focus on duplicating crew members with essential skills, the spacecraft can maintain and keep the ship functioning even in the face of unexpected challenges or emergencies.
But that's just me thinking logically.
Which leads me to another headcanon based on on my speculations about Arnold Rimmer and Dave Lister...
Remember the episode 'Balance of Power' the one where Lister wanted to turn on Kochanski's hologram for while?
Kristine was a former navigation officer before death so it would make sense to duplicate her personality?
Remember, Rimmer's family has a military background, and despite failing his astro-navigation exams to become an officer, I speculated that his family connections might have had something to do with his personality being deemed important enough to be worthy of duplication.
In "Better Than Life," when Lister has a heart attack, Holly doesn't even bother bringing up any compromises to resurrect Lister as a hologram. Instead, he suggests how to revive him on a backward planet, no questions asked. If they brought back a deceased Kochanski, why didn't they consider resurrecting the real Arnold Rimmer while they were at it?

On one hand, only having the Tuskagee Airman in Episode 8 makes sense - the 99th Fighter Squadron, which I think is the one they're portraying, was in Italy until summer 1944. On the other hand, I absolutely understand people being disappointed that they only appear now. On that note, I've been thinking of possible subjects for a POC-focused WWII miniseries. I've got a few ideas - wondering what you think.
This is largely combat unit focused too, so if anyone has other suggestions I'd love to hear them. I am looking forward to that film on the 6888th, hope that's good.
The big one is probably the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, which consisted of Japanese-Americans and was the most decorated combat unit of the war for the United States.
Either the 92nd or 93rd Infantry Regiments, both African-American - the former faced particularly severe racism from their commander, a white supremacist, piece-of-shit and all-round incompetent by the name of Ned Almond.
The 99th Fighter Squadron - they're appearing in Masters of the Air but they deserve their own series.
Any of the African-American tank units at the close of the war.
Literally anything, ever, on the British Indian Army or the Gurkhas. You could complicate this by having some of the characters end up in Bose's INA and others remain with the British.
A miniseries based on the life of Reg Saunders, one of the first indigenous Australian army officers.
And while it's WWI, the Harlem Hellfighters are overdue for onscreen rep.

1917 11 15 The Big Push - Anthony Saunders
The Battle of Passchendaele lasted for four months and ended in November 1917. Nearly a quarter of a million British, Canadian and New Zealand troops died while fighting for control of the ridges to the south and east of Ypres. It was a high price for victory. This outstanding painting depicts men and horses of the Royal Field Artillery, swamped by mud in a desolate, shattered landscape, dragging their 18 pounder field gun towards a new position on 15 November 1917, during the final days of the battle. Whilst the army continues its grim fight on the ground, overhead Sopwith Camels from 45 Squadron Royal Flying Corps tangle in a deadly duel with German Albatros fighters of Jasta 6. Flying the lead Sopwith Camel is the RFC Ace Second Lieutenant Kenneth Montgomery. He scored the last of his 12 victories in this dogfight when he shot down the German Ace Leutnant Hans Ritter von Adam, the Commanding Officer of Jasta 6 with an impressive 21 victories to his name.

DC Legacy
The basic premise of this is that the time has come for older heroes to step down and the next generation take their place. Clark Kent is now the editor and owner of the Daily Planet and vows to lead them into the future while keeping their dedication to the truth. Diana Prince is now Queen of the Amazons and has relinquished her title as Wonder Woman though she still joins the Justice Society when needed. Bruce Wayne has become mayor of Gotham City and intends to use the power of the office to fight crime at the root. However the intensified spotlight means he must give up the cowl. Others such as Oliver Queen have stepped down from active duty to become teachers to the next generation, passing down their skills and knowledge. Building Blocks ch. 1
A Butchlander fanfic
Tumblr media
A/N: on a writing hiatus but i wrote this with the last spurt of orginal though I had in my heart, so dunno when ch. 2 will happen, plz enjoy and read my other a/n in the tags:
Sypnopsis: What if Becca had stayed with Butcher, what if she never left and kept that terrible secret to herself, and now it was Butcher who had to deal with Homelander in the aftermath of his wife's death after he shows up with the heartbreaking information that it was this blond supe who was his son's real father.
tags: fluff, HL unhingeness, slowburn, dadlander,so much angst, complete AU.
Chapter One
Hello
“I want a baby.”
Butcher watches the man’s lips move and he hears him clearly but it still seems fake, he didn’t recognize the man, I mean he knew who he bloody was, he was the Homelander. America’s son, for pete’s sake even his prick did– for he pissed on a cup embossed with his face during long road trips.
But now he wished he hadn’t met him.
7 hours ago he had just finished the worst day of his life.
It was a beautiful day, terribly beautiful, birds sang, flowers bloomed and butterflies tickled his nose– lifted from a teenage girl’s dream. Everything about today was dreamlike, covered in a hazy sparkly glow as he had finished burying his wife.
One day she was driving to go get takeout, for they had the house for themselves for the first time in ages and next thing he knows there’s a police officer at his entryway 3 hours after she went to go get scampi.
It had been a beautiful ceremony, the flowers looked so lively under the gentle spring sun, the breeze just cool enough to not make wearing this now disheveled suit unbearable, he arrived home, his father-in-law took him after he had drank a small liquor store while in his house, prostrated by the steps of the basement surrounded by cans and dried tears.
Somehow he was now in his sofa alone, he panicked trying to find his phone to try to find answers before he spotted the strange figure.
He’d blame it on the booze if he hadn’t now been completely awake– he lets him in as the man requested so politely, he had no idea what he wanted, what was going on, other than it was better than thinking that by morning it would become official… that it would become real… the last couple weeks had felt like a bad acid trip that he can’t wake up from, but once the sun returns he knows she’s never gonna come back, she’s in a pinebox 6 feet under and not on her way home– so why not give in to more nonsense.
Why not let this Supe into his home.
“You’re Saunders’s husband?” He said in a firm tone, the man looked at him like he was a worm, he could’ve sworn, certainly not that friendly man he met at that christmas party all those years ago– heard about the funeral… you have… my condolences, she was a great employee.”
Butcher brows crossed, Becca only worked there a couple more months after that party, quitting suddenly and telling him she had found a better job, it paid less yet the hours were flexible, he didn’t question much even if it made his stomach feel things, Becca had loved her job at Vought, she had just gotten a promotion with this man and then one day whatever had happened in the office had left her wanting to leave… of course he would find out weeks later, when he caught her puking and every single thing smelled rancid, what could’ve been the reason after all her new job offered longer maternity leave compare to Vought, it also didn’t include dealing with spandex wearing freaks and it was less stressful, she would come home without much complain compare to before where she could waste 2 hours of her life shit talking her boss.
Between the chronic pregnancy insomnia, diabetes and swollen ankles Butcher gave her no grief for her decision to quit a stressful job.
Butcher had never wanted kids… he was no good for them he'd said… he dreamt of Lenny on his knees pleading and bleeding but it wasn’t Lenny and it wasn’t his ol’ man… it was him and a little boy with hazel eyes, it was him reflected in them, she had been open to the idea but never decisive yet one day Becca wanted a child suddenly. Even at her worst she loved the child inside her… he understood when he first felt his little stubby fingers wrapping around his finger, when he felt that warmth against his cheek, when he saw him waddled towards him, that he understood what was going on inside her mind during those bizarre couple of months.
He hadn’t been perfect, he had been too rough and impatient, he had yelled and wished he could have his old life back but he loved her… and he loved Ryan and he would regret everything wrong he ever did because he loved them, because he wasn’t going to ruin this.
He liked the future they were building for each other.
So he stared at him.
At the bluest eye he’d ever seen outside of his boy’s sunny skies.
Blue’s he thought were from his mother.
Blue’s seen in a hundred billboards but never in his boy until now.
Homelander took a seat on his armrest without getting comfortable placing a manila envelope on his coffee table pushing cigarette ash around it.
“I’m Ryan’s father.”
He spoke bluntly and without hesitation, he had no modicum of decorum simply irritated with nothing in particular it seemed, maybe it was not finding his boy in this place but only a leftover fragrance, that had him irritated.
“8 years ago we had a short fling… I never knew…” he spoke softly, allowing his shoulders to unwind a little– until recently.”
It was the alcohol and the grief and the sleep deprivation that made him pull the man who could have easily shrugged him an acre or two away from his living room as if they were equals on any level, and the blond seemed bemused by this puny man’s might, letting this play out.
“Shut your trap you cunt.”
“I was nothing to her so am not her to emasculate you. I am here because that boy is mine.”
He punchest him, breaking his knuckles bare.
A twinge of a beast twinkles in those hazel eyes, teasing the darkness that he had tried so desperately to bury, Homelander is unmoved as he clutches his injured hand.
“If he’s not mine then could you explain to me why your woman was getting child support from me?” His eyes dart towards the folder, he stands up yet again walking past him not wanting to look at him further– seven years ago she went to Vought claiming to be pregnant with my child, they performed a DNA test and determine it was mine… then–”
Homelander beegins heading towards the bedroom wings.
“Madelyn and Stan… they didn’t want the scandal to ruin my image, for me to have an affair with a married woman, somebody who worked for me… so she signed an NDA, and without me knowing they had been paying her for her continued silence.”
“Lies!!” The brit shouts– You shut yer trap! I don’t wanna hear it anymore, you cunt! Just get the fuck out of me house!!”
“I could kill you. I should… but William…”
“Don’t say my name” He spits– Kill me? Aren’t you a fucking supe?”
Homelander’s light brightens the dark.
Butcher falls into the couch as glass bursts beside him, shards turn to burning liquid slowly cooling down as they burnt the vinyl floorings.
“I could kill you, and there would be a clean up crew who would make it seem like you killed yourself… Kids need their father’s… Ryan needs a dad and you did the job– so as a show of gratitude I shall let you live, but I can take things from here.”
Butcher watched the smoke trail rising from the ground, before Homelander could move towards opening that door, Butcher had leaped towards his direction, any faster and he would give his blue speedster some competition.
“ I read your file… you were a marine, SAS– now you work for the CIA… taking a year off due to obvious personal reasons. You should reconsider.”
Homelander entered the room, catching the strong aroma by surprise, dirt, grass and dirty shoes, a scoffed football rolled away from the entrance, English football teams plastered the walls, toys littered the floor and the bed was the only thing made.
Homelander wished to see at least one baseball poster, or some cards, something more familiar, that he could easily use as a gateway for bonding with the boy.
“Look you son of a bitch! Why are you doing this!?”
“He is mine.”
“So you are just gonna take him and assume he’s gonna love you? Are you daft?” Butcher had dealt with dangerous men, violent criminals and murderers, sometimes he had been made to talk with words instead of bullets or fist and it was clear the second choice wouldn’t work with him.-- I’m his father, you’re a stranger all you’re gonna do is traumatize him and make him hate you.”
“You don’t kno–
“You have no idea who my son is, you just read a line on a paper and made up a fantasy… he… he just lost his mother… he just saw his ol’ man get carried out covered in his own snot and whiskey… my Becca… I…”
Butcher could feel the contents of his stomach rising, he looked pitifully into the room, looking at all the toys and the clothes she had yet to put away still in the basket by the foot of the bed.
“8 years ago… I had an affair… she was my boss… it… I don’ know why… why I did it… it didn’t matter ‘cuz I fukked it all up, then one day… she told me we was having a baby and that I needed to get my shit together, or leave” Butcher laid against the doorframe– I don’t know why am telling you any of this.”
“Possibly a combination of the percocet, and booze in various percentages in your system.”
Butcher had no energy to even roll his eyes or curse at him, annoyed at the man for being obtuse at this moment, he looked straight at him fighting the urge to yell at him to leave.
“You’re the reason she gave me a second chance… she fucked you to get even then she made me raised your baby”
Butcher can only hold himself for so long, he breaks down, it shocks Homelander for all he knew of this man was that he was a ruthless killer, yet he was breaking down, sobbing and struggling to breath as he watched the image of the woman he loved, of the woman he had given all that he had left in this world, hurt him.
A dozen questions hounded him, did she loved him at all? Did she change her mind half-way? Did she do all of this to hurt him one day? When she saw him teaching Ryan how to goal-keep in his grandparent’s backyard– did she do it with malice in her heart? Or did she realize the mistake she had made? Did it all go out of hand? Did she believed her own lies?
He looked up behind the tears, as the world’s greatest Supe kneel beside him offering a t-shirt he had found on the ground to clean up his tears.
He should’ve hated him, he should’ve despised him yet… It was in the way he had spoken this whole time that he knew that he was just as hurt, using anger to disguise his hurt.
He could’ve stolen Ryan, he must’ve known the kid wasn’t here in the first place, he could’ve crashed the funeral and made a scene, he could’ve taken him while he slept the booze off, he could’ve waited ‘til tomorrow afternoon when the boy would be returned to take him away from him– but he came when it was only the two of them, either with murder on his mind or poorly planned out negotiation tactics.
How it must’ve felt to know you had a kid you never knew and want him… he wondered.
His own father would’ve been a happier bastard had he never had him, no doubt his mother’s biggest mistake wasn’t marrying the man, it was telling him they were having William in the first place… the complete opposite of what he was witnessing, when he saw those trembling lips and twitches that no amount of composure could hide.
As he cleaned his face on his son’s shirt, he couldn’t help but to think of how much he didn’t want the kid at first, swallowing his grievances and worries that this was a mistake, that it would change him for the worse and destroy their already fractured marriage… but he kept quiet for all he wanted was to kept Becca, it wasn’t until that afternoon where it was all over, and the doctor handed him that bundle of screams that he understood that he would never be like his father, for all he felt was love.
True love.
A love he only felt that night when he got stuck in an elevator with a pretty brunette, she had her groceries on both hands and one on the ground, cursing that her ice-cream will melt before somebody comes and gets them out.
An ice cream that would never make it to her apartment as it was left empty and discarded in that elevator with a pair of impromptu spoons made of celery stalks, that no doubt confused a neighbor or two.
He had loved her until the point it made him hate himself, that he had to screw everything up because the longer they stayed together, the more difficult it would’ve been to imagine a life without her, because that’s who he was… he was a man that drove others away, that’s why his father never loved him, that’s why Lenny had left him, that’s why his friends had such a hard time being there to put up with him.
And now without wanting, without trying at all, he was on the brink of driving his son away.
“Why do you want him?”
“He’s my son!”
“I ‘eard ya… but why can’t you make another one and leave us alone.” he cried.
“I can’t” He looks hurt– and is not a thing I would ever do! Abandon my child!”
Homelander turned pale, perhaps it was the strange intimacy between these strangers, perhaps it was the fact that they were technically strangers even if they had meet before, or the fact that he had fucked this man’s wife and would most likely not allow him to see daylight after they were done conversing, that made him blurt his most shameful secret.
He took his cape and wrapped it on his hand as he took a seat next to Butcher.
“When I was young, I was told I couldn’t have them… I tried… I tried a lot but nothing ever happened until… three weeks ago, when I stumbled upon this information– I’ll spare you the details… but it was a miracle.”
Homelander chokes slightly, catching the distaste at the force cheery tone on his mouth as he spouts the words miracle, it was true, Ryan was a secret miracle.
But it wasn’t him in those birthday photos holding his little boy with cream on his nose, and a wide smile, it wasn’t him on a camping trip, it wasn’t him holding that baby while giving him his first bath.
He wouldn’t tell Butcher, he had come earlier to survey the area, dig through his cabinets, scoffing at the disorganized sock drawer, or that he had been on this floor watching his family pictures, painting himself in those images.
“It’s that why you and Queen Maeve broke up?” he asked, clearing the snot– your baby batter no good?”
“It would’ve been easier if that was the case… she’s a dyke.”
Butcher turned around and shrugged, only mildly surprised by the news.
“How is he? Ryan… is he smart? What does he like?”
The man didn’t wish to tell him a thing but he was sure Becca would’ve yelled at him if he had, he was hurt and he could at least make her angry.
“He likes school but hates math class, got in trouble once for cheating on a math exam but I couldn’t get mad because I also hated math class… he goes to the same school as my friend’s M.M’s kid and the two are glued to the hip, keep joking he’s gonna end up being related to me for real one day” he chuckles behind some tears– he loves football.”
“Not soccer?”
“It’s football! Your country just wants to be special and call it something else but it's called football, real football!” He sounds less aggressive than Homelander anticipated, like he was talking to a coworker he didn’t dislike– he’s the goalie in his team ‘cuz he’s the tallest kid in his class, swear that boy is gonna be 6’ 2’’ one day…” He chuckles dryly– and he loves movies… he even started making little short films and posting them online recently… he’s such a good kid”
And it bites him.
Of course Ryan would be such a good kid, because deep down he shared nothing with Butcher.
His father was this great hero, this man of pure noble heart… It made him full with relief that his son would never have this darkness inside him, this darkness that came from his scumbag sperm donor, that came from his veins, it wasn’t just Becca’s goodness that made him a sweet kid.
“I like history books and movies… am actually good at math… not to brag or anything, I’m just good at it, could probably ace a fifth-grade math exam any day.” he chuckles dryly.
“Want a drink? I think I need one…”
“Anymore and your bladder will explode… your liver is okay but–
“Don’t do that. It’s freaky.” he said with visible disgust.
Butcher stands up, listening to nature’s call as he heads back to his living room finding that Homelander is already in their long kitchen taking a can of beer from the french doors, their house was spacious, and old 60’s built if he had to take a guess, far from the city in a more woodsy area, they had remodeled together (…mostly Butcher but she picked the wallpaper) but when he thought about it now, it made sense why she would want to be in such a quiet place, even if it was just 1 hour or 2 from New York, the house was unassuming, a place that Homelander would had never given a second glance.
“I don’t want him to hate me… Ryan… the last thing I want in the whole world is for him to hate me… all I’ve ever wanted was a family, all I’ve been denied my whole life is a baby…”
Butcher stared at him, dragging his feet on the terracotta tile, taking the beer he had placed on the counter, cracking it open as he tried to make sense of this man.
“I want a baby…”
“They’re okay… smelly tho” he took a short sip feeling too uncomfortable for his own good– can’t find a woman who could give you one? Sure your Vought doctors would help you out”
“They won’t let me keep them. Not really… the only reason Ryan is here with you and not… somewhere else is because he doesn’t have this inside him.”
Homelander takes out a small pouch from the inside of his boot, it's a slim and small, Butcher stares at it quizzically as he offers it, trembling fingers take the pouch to reveal a small pair of ampoules holding a blue liquid.
“Compound V.” He opens his own can while considering taking an actual sip– I had a child before… before Ryan… killed their mother in the womb… laser her in half… they think my kids should be born with powers because all other supes are made with that… if Ryan… if Ryan had been born with powers, they would’ve taken him from you both, and for some reason your wife keep taking him to Vought doctors as part of their agreement, I'm trying to figure that out but if he had hit sudden supe-puberty– you’ll be dead.”
“You’re telling me supes are man-made?”
“Ryan could still have powers… ”
Butcher held that vial, slowly realizing what was hiding behind his words, as the man took a sip of Butcher’s beer.
“You… you want to make him into one of you cape freaks?” He almost growled.
“Is the only way I can protect him, because they can’t take him from me… if you leave they will find you and if they find you before I do, they will take him to a place not even I will ever find out, and I would flatten all of Manhattan so badly It'll make Hiroshima seem like a kid’s game and yet I know they won’t tell me where he is… but if he has powers… and me…”
“No!”
“Compound V recipient with supe parents are 70% more likely to inherit the powers from the patrilineal line than the mother’s… my powers are divine and will keep him safe, the odds of him not getting my powers is very unlikely, and trust me you don’t want to be on your own raising a child with my powers– not that I’ll let you.”
Homelander left the can to fizz out.
“I think… I think we can make this work… you let me be there for Ryan, and I’ll protect this happiness… we are both in this place because your wife made a series of decisions and now we’re both fucked in varying degrees but believe me when I tell you that I love him… and if you don’t listen to me, I’ll take him from you.”
He walks past him.
His hand on the door to the yard, he looks back at William.
He knows it won’t be the last he sees of him, as he its waved goodbye by a sonic boom rattling his kitchen windows, he thinks of calling Mallory and disappear, take Ryan and abandon the world, but as he made his way back to his bedroom, as he looked at his phone with sore eyes, he told himself that Homelander wouldn’t be giving him a warning if it wasn’t willing to negotiate, he wouldn’t have given him this V stuff to earn his trust.
His fingers moved before he could regret his decision.
“Mallory…”
“Are you alright?” He was surprised to hear that anxious tone in that woman’s voice, he glanced at his bedside table catching the clock reading past 1 am.
“Can we meet tomorrow before Ryan gets here– he’s with Becca’s folks… is urgent.”
“Why? You’re not doing something stupid are you, William?”
“Is stupid but not killing myself stupid.”
“... Butcher…”
“Please.”
“I’ll be there for lunch.”
He hangs, dropping into his pillows clutching that strange vial, thinking of a supe he'd never care about before.
this is the house where most of the story will take place:

An ‘evil’ sex predator who raped two 15-year-old schoolgirls has been jailed for 11 years.
David Berbers, 21, attacked the first teenager several times in London and the second 50 miles away in a park in Hove, East Sussex after contacting her on Instagram.
Detectives believe there may be more victims of Berbers, of Richmond-upon-Thames, and urged anyone with information to come forward.
The initial victim, now 16, contacted Metropolitan Police officers in May 2019 to report Berbers had raped and sexually assaulted her on many occasions between December 2017 and March 2018.
Intelligence records were scanned and uncovered another offence where Berbers was suspected of attacked a girl in Hove.
He had arranged to meet her after communicating on social media.
After suggesting they walk through St Ann’s Well Gardens, he raped her before fleeing the scene, leaving her to seek help from members of the public nearby.
She was supported by medical professionals and specialist police officers, while an urgent investigation was launched.
Berbers, of Byatt Walk, Hampton was identified through his Instagram account and the phone number he used to contact the victim, as well as a detailed description she provided.
Met and colleagues in Sussex Police put together a compelling case against him.
At Kingston Crown Court, a jury convicted Berbers of three counts of rape and he admitted possession of extreme pornography.
When released, he must serve a further three years on licence with the threat that he will be returned to jailed. Berbers also received a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
Detective Constable Hannah Saunders, of the Met’s public protection unit in south west London, said: “These young women have both been through a terrible ordeal.
“I would like to commend them for their courage and resilience.
“It is because of their testimony that this evil man is now behind bars and I hope this will bring them some closure.
“Unfortunately we cannot be sure there are not more victims who are yet to come forward.
“I would encourage anyone with information to get in touch so we can give you the support you need and investigate any further crimes.
“We take all allegations of this nature very seriously and you will be listened to and supported.”
Kent Police Detective Sergeant Kerri Bartup said: “David Berbers is a predatory offender who has proven time and again to be a danger to women and girls.
“His young victim has shown incredible courage and resilience to first report the offence, and then to support the investigation through to its conclusion.
“I would also like to commend the quick-thinking members of the public who brought her to a place of safety on the day of the incident.”
Anyone aware of further offences, can call police via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

WHY SHREK 2 IS BETTER THAN THE PREQUEL
Tumblr media
Amongst all animated films the studio, Dreamworks, has produced, the Shrek series or franchise is undoubtedly the most popular of all as it is adored by audience of all ages. Shrek was a film created in 2001 which was directed by Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson. It tells the story of a grumpy ogre trying to protect his home, the swamp, from the fairytale creatures the diabolical Lord Farquaad exiled. In order to get his beloved swamp back, the green ogre must go on a quest to rescue a princess for the Lord to marry. Due to the overwhelming success the movie had, more movies had followed suit and thus the Shrek franchise was born. However, in terms of quality, Shrek 2 is the best movie in the franchise.
According to Allison Picurro of HBO, Shrek 2 is definitive proof sequels can be better than the original. While the source of Shrek 2 already seems flawless, the sequel adds things to the main plot that we never knew we needed. After Lord Farquaad was defeated, Shrek and Fiona got married and spent their honeymoon in the ogre’s beloved swamp which was now shared by the two. All seems well until Fiona’s parents learn of their marriage and request to meet Fiona’s husband, completely unaware of the curse that had struck their daughter and with the expectation of meeting Prince Charming, not an unhygienic ogre. When Shrek comes to the conclusion that the King and Queen of Far Far Away are disappointed at the ogre whom their daughter calls her true love, he sets off to find a way to become human and gain their approval; this led to the introduction of Puss in Boots, Prince Charming and the Fairy Godmother, who were indeed memorable characters in the franchise.
Second, aside from the entertaining plot and introduction of new characters, Shrek 2 also possesses one of the most important elements in a movie: a killer soundtrack. The second movie features hit songs like “Holding out for a Hero,” “Livin’ ‘la Vida Loca,” “Funkytown,” and more. “Holding out for a Hero” by Bonnie Tyler was sung by Fairy Godmother (Jennifer Saunders) to set the mood for Fiona and Prince Charming’s dance which also set the viewers’ mood for the climax of the movie. This particular scene is one of the reasons this film deserves the number 1 spot on the list of Shrek movies.
Tumblr media
However, some fans argue that Shrek is better because of its IMDb ratings of 7.8/10, which is .6 higher than the sequel. But according to Matt Reynolds (2017), movie-ranking sites such as IMDb should be ignored because the ratings are much more biased towards the opinions of men. Men often make up 70% of the voters for films and they tend to favor movies with more masculine themes. Moreover, IMDb ratings don’t really matter as the film went on to win two Academy Award nominations and compete for the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The film also garnered a box office of 919.8 million USD, which is two times larger than the original’s box office, making it Dreamwork’s highest-grossing film up to date.
With a box office of 919.8 million USD, Shrek 2 is the best movie to ever come out of the Shrek franchise. Packed with comedic references to pop culture figures and fairytale stories, a killer soundtrack, and entertaining plot with no Lord Farquaad in sight, the sequel properly deserved its success and deserves to be the definitive proof why sequels can be better than the original.

POOL NAZI
Let me share an experience about my day!
It's rattled me to the bone every inch of the way..
I was almost off of work and almost time to play..
When I heard there was trouble brewing to my dismay..
A resident came crashing into my office
complaining of trouble at that the pool..
15 people deep, they were acting a fool..
Laying and swearing as though it was cool..
Their actions were bold and demeanor quite cruel..
They were out of control, I needed to stop this..
After hearing the details I became heated I must confess..
Being taken advantage of hit straight to the chest..
These were not even residents
they were neighborhood pests..
With backpacks over shoulders and their towl in hand..
Swimming for free was there ultimate plan..
It was then I stormed the gate like I owned the place..
They knew I meant business by the look on my face..
I demanded the poolside show me their key fob..
I was being the fun police, but this was my job..
Wouldn't you know it, not one had it to show..
It was then that I asked them to go...
Truth of it all, had they lived here I'd know..
If it gone any further, their address they'd know..
They all exited the pool not fast but slow..
This time i raised my voice and demanded they go..
I then apologized to the residents for raising my voice..
but the kids blatant disregard gave me no choice..
I then addressed the remaining rest..
This was their private pool, and they should enjoy it without pests..
