Nevermore Week Day 6 - Graveyard Rave

I'm very nervous for Duke considering he's got one foot in the grave but still trying to keep such a brave face about it. Since he wanted to spend his last night alive by partying with Lenore, he reminded me of the people who would say "I don't want people to be sad at my funeral, I'd like it to be a party", and decided to take that prompt into that direction. I had Duke dressed smartly in a dark suit, so it still looked like funeral attire, and holding a glass of champagne as confetti rained down to give it that party atmosphere. I liked the image of Lenore and Pluto in shadow but highlighted by rave lights as it felt amusing in such a morbid way as the whole scene is meant to be happy, but they're weeping over Duke's grave. I'll admit, I struggled with this prompt a bit but I'm still happy with how this turned out.

Chapter 4: When morning comes and the smoke has cleared, Tango and Jimmy head off to see a friend...someone who should have been told the truth much earlier on, just like Grian. (If this was how nervous Jimmy had been when telling Grian the truth, then Tango applauded his soulbound for his bravery.)

Now this is what I’m talking about! This was delicious, so be spread name is a little deceptive, I would say the raspberry is forward on this, and then the mango. There’s just enough lime tartness to cut the sweetness.

excerpt: Breakfasts with Hopper become a thing that winter. Steve’s saving up for a car of his own now that Uncle Sam and Aunt Cathy are gone, and the Chief’s got a line on a ‘78 Datsun B210 that’s going to be up at a police auction over the border in Louisville in February, so for now Hopper’s driving Steve to school in the mornings when he stays over at the cabin. He can walk from the apartment on Main, when he stays there.

The breakfasts are nice. They take place mostly in silence, though sometimes the Chief will ask him about how his classes are going, if he’s looking forward to the next game, if Hargrove is still giving him trouble. Uncle Sam used to ask him similar questions, but somehow they feel different coming from Hop: with Uncle Sam, he thinks, he was curious but always sort of concerned someone was going to figure Steve out, that Steve was going to slip up, somehow.

But with Hopper, it feels more like he just wants to know Steve. He wonders if it’s because Hopper has always known Steve as a person first, and an experiment second, though this feels uncharitable to think about Uncle Sam, who always tried to do right by Steve once he had the chance, once his hands were no longer tied.

Can't believe it took me until Little Guy #10 to realize that the process of completing the Little Guys could be expedited so so very much by using the brush designed for creating a solid color to color things in with solid colors instead of going over and over the same patch with an only mostly opaque paintbrush brush
