DAILY DUA
Dua at Mount Safa and Mount Marwah
Translation
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said when describing the Prophet’s (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pilgrimage: ...and when he approached mount Safa he recited:
“Indeed Al-Safa and Al-Marwah are from the places of worship of Allah…”
“I begin with what Allah began with.”
…so he started with Safa and climbed it until he could see the Kabah, he then faced it and said:
“Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest.”
…and then he would say the following three times making a supplication (one should make a personal supplication) after each time:
“None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone. He fulfilled His promise, aided His slave and single-handedly defeated the allies.”
…he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would repeat this action at Marwah.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah Ibrahim Ayah 32-34
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
14:32 Allah is He Who has created the heavens and the earth and sends down water (rain) from the sky, and thereby brought forth fruits as provision for you;
and He has made the ships to be of service to you, that they may sail through the sea by His command; and He has made rivers (also) to be of service to you.
14:33 And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you; and He has made the night and the day to be of service to you.
14:34 And He gave you of all that you asked for, and if you (try to) count the blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them.
Verily, man is indeed an extreme wrongdoer, ungrateful.
Describing Some of Allah's Tremendous Favors
Allah says;
Allah is He Who has created the heavens and the earth and sends down water (rain) from the sky, and thereby brought forth fruits as provision for you; and He has made the ships to be of service to you, that they may sail through the sea by His command; and He has made rivers (also) to be of service to you.
Allah mentions some of the favors He has done for His creatures, such as creating the heavens as a protective ceiling and the earth as a bed.
He also sends down rain from the sky and, in its aftermath brings forth a variety of vegetation, fruits and plants of different colors, shapes, tastes, scents and uses.
Allah also made the ships sail on the surface of the water by His command and He made the sea able to carry these ships in order that travelers can transfer from one area to another to transport goods.
Allah also created the rivers that flow through the earth from one area to another as provision for the servants which they use to drink and irrigate, and for other benefits,
And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you;
rotating by night and by day,
and He has made the night and the day to be of service to you.
Allah said in other Ayat,
It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. (36:40)
He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly, and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His command. His is the creation and commandment. Blessed is Allah, the Lord of all that exists! (7:54)
The sun and the moon rotate in succession, and the night and the day are opposites, each taking from the length of the other or giving up some of its length,
(Allah) merges the night into day, and merges the day into night. (35:13)
And He has subjected the sun and the moon. Each running (on a fixed course) for an appointed term. Verily, He is the Almighty, the Oft- Forgiving. (39:5)
Allah said next,
And He gave you of all that you asked for,
He has prepared for you all that you need in all conditions, and what you ask Him to provide for you,
and if you (try to) count the blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them.
Allah states that the servants are never able to count His blessings, let alone thank Him duly for them.
Verily, man is indeed an extreme wrongdoer, ungrateful.
In Sahih Al-Bukhari it is recorded that the Messenger of Allah used to supplicate;
O Allah! All praise is due to You, without being able to sufficiently thank You, nor ever wish to be cutoff from You, nor ever feeling rich from relying on You; our Lord!
It was reported that Prophet Dawud, peace be upon him, used to say in his supplication,
"O Lord! How can I ever duly thank You, when my thanking You is also a favor from You to me''
Allah the Exalted answered him, "Now, you have thanked Me sufficiently, O Dawud,''
meaning, `when you admitted that you will never be able to duly thank Me.'

Riyad as-Salihin, The Book of Supplicating Allah to Exalt the Mention of Allah's Messenger, Book 14, Hadith 8
Chapter: The Obligation of Supplicating Allah to Exalt His Mention and its Excellence, and its Manner
Fadalah bin 'Ubaid (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) heard some one supplicating after his prayer without praising Allah and without supplicating Allah for the Prophet (ﷺ). With regard to him, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "This man rushed." Then he called him and said, "When any one of you have performed Salat (prayer) and wants to supplicate, let him praise Allah first then glorify Him in the beginning and then he should supplicate Allah for me. Then he may supplicate for whatever he likes."

Salah (Prayer) inside the Ka’bah (Hijr) is preferred and is a means of drawing close (to Allaah)
Making Takbir, then du’aa to Allaah after praying two rak’ah inside the Ka’bah (Hijr) is a Sunnah
Question: Is salat inside the Ka’bah in any way superior to salat outside it, and is it permissible for a person to speak of what he has seen inside the ka’bah?
Answer:
Salat inside the Ka’bah is preferred, if it is possible to do so without any inconvenience, difficulty or harm to anyone, as the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) entered it and prayed therein, according to an authentic narration in the Sahihain (Two Sahihs). And it has been reported from him (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) that he came out one day looking sad, and he said: “Verily, I fear that I may have placed a burden upon my Ummah (i.e. by entering the ka’bah).” [1]
And when ‘A`ishah (radiallaahu ‘anha) asked him about salat in the Ka’bah, he said: “Pray in the Hijr, because it is a part of the House.” [2]
This proves that salat inside the Ka’bah is preferred and is a means of drawing close (to Allaah) and an act of obedience, and in it is great merit.
However, it is not fitting that there should be crowding, or harm, or doing anything which causes difficulty to him or to the people. It is enough for him to pray in the Hijr, because it is a part of the House; and there is no objection to speaking about what he has seen inside the Ka’bah, such as its inscriptions, or what is on its ceiling or the like. There is no objection to a person talking and saying: “I saw such and such and such and such.” There is no sin in that.
The Sunnah, when one enters the Ka’bah, is to pray two rak’ahs and to say “Allaahu Akbar” and invoke Allaah, the Almighty, the All-Powerful with whatever supplications are easy for him at the end of it, especially those which have been reported (from the Prophet, salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) because the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) entered the Ka’bah and prayed therein, then he performed Takbir and supplicated Allaah. All of this has been authentically reported from him (salallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam).

O Allah! I ask You by virtue of the fact that all praise is due to You; none has the right to be worshiped but You alone, and You have no partner or associate, the Bestower, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, the Possessor of Majesty and Honor.
He (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: He has asked Allah by His Greatest Name which, if He is asked thereby He gives and if He is called upon thereby He answers ."
(Sunan Ibn Majah 3858)
5.2 Narrated Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه): I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and a man was offering prayer. He then made supplication:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَنَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ الْمَنَّانُ بَدِيعُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ يَا حَىُّ يَا قَيُّومُ
O Allah, I ask Thee by virtue of the fact that praise is due to Thee, there is no deity but Thou, Who showest favour and beneficence, the Originator of the Heavens and the earth, O Lord of Majesty and Splendour, O Living One, O Eternal One.
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) then said: He has supplicated Allah using His Greatest Name, when supplicated by this name, He answers, and when asked by this name He gives.
(Sunan Abi Dawud 1495)
5.3 Narrated Sa d (رضي الله عنه): The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) supplicated Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) for rain saying,
"O Allah, cover all the land with accumulated, thundering, plunging and lightening clouds from which You would send us down a showery, drizzly, and pouring rain. O Possessor of Glory and Honour."
(Bulugh al-Maram Book 2, Hadith 452)
5.4 Anas (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said:
أَلِظُّوا بِيَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ
“Be constant with: ‘O Possessor of Majesty and Honor .”
(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3525)
5.5 Anas bin Malik (رضي الله عنه) said: Whenever a matter would distress him, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) would say:
يَا حَىُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ
‘O Living, O Self-Sustaining Sustainer! In Your Mercy do I seek relief .’
And with this chain, that he said: “The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said:
أَلِظُّوا بِيَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ
‘Be constant with: O Possessor of Majesty and Honor’.
(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3524)
5.6 Thawban (رضي الله عنه), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), narrated that: When he finished the prayer, the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) would ask for forgiveness three times (أستغفر الله) and say:
اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلاَمُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلاَمُ تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ
O Allah, You are the source of Peace (or the One free from all faults) and from You comes Peace, blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor."

“O Allah, I ask you for all of the blessing.”
He asked the man whether he knew what all the blessing meant and he said that it meant admittance to paradise and safety from Hell.
Then the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) passed by another man who was saying:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الصَّبْرَ
“O Allah! I ask you for patience”.
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said to him, "You have asked your lord for trial and difficulty over yourself. So, now ask him also for safety (Aafiyah)".
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) then came across a third man who said:
يَا ذَا الْجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ
“O Owner of Majesty and Splendor!”.
The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said to him, "Make a request!" (because you have called Allah by this great attribute).
(Al-Adab Al-Mufrad Book 1, Hadith 122)
5.8 Abu Musa (رضي الله عنه) reported: Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said,
"It is out of reverence to Allah in respecting an aged Muslim, and the one who commits the Qur an to memory and does not exaggerate pronouncing its letters nor forgets it after memorizing, and to respect the just ruler".
(Riyad as-Salihin Book 1, Hadith 354)
5.9 Narrated Zayd ibn Arqam (رضي الله عنه): I heard the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) saying after his prayer:
"O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that Thou art the Lord alone Who hast no partner; O Allah, Our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that Muhammad is Thy servant and Thy apostle ; O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything, I bear witness that all the servants are brethren; O Allah, our Lord and Lord of everything make me sincere to Thee, and my family too at every moment, in this world and in the world hereafter, O Possessor of Glory and Honour, listen to me and answer. Allah is incomparably Great. O Allah, Light of the heavens and of the earth".

"Lord of the heavens and of the earth, Allah is incomparably great. Allah is sufficient for me; and the excellent guardian is He; Allah is incomparably Great."
(Sunan Abi Dawud 1508)
5.10 Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said: “One night, when he exited his Salat, I heard the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) saying:

‘O Allah, I ask You of Your mercy, that You guide by it my heart, and gather by it my affair, and bring together that which has been scattered of my affairs, and correct with it that which is hidden from me, and raise by it that which is apparent from me, and purify by it my actions, and inspire me by it with that which contains my guidance, and protect me by it from that which I seek protection, and protect me by it from every evil. O Allah give me faith and certainty after which there is no disbelief, and mercy, by which I may attain the high level of Your generosity in the world and the Hereafter.
O Allah, I ask You for success [in that which You grant, and relief] in the Judgment, and the positions of the martyrs, and the provision of the successful, and aid against the enemies. O Allah, I leave to You my need, and my actions are weak, I am in need of Your mercy, so I ask You, O Decider of the affairs, and O Healer of the chests, as You separate me from the punishment of the blazing flame, and from seeking destruction, and from the trial of the graves.
O Allah, whatever my opinion has fallen short of, and my intention has not reached it, and my request has not encompassed it, of good that You have promised to anyone from Your creation, or any good You are going to give to any of Your slaves, then indeed, I seek it from You and I ask You for it, by Your mercy, O Lord of the Worlds. O Allah, Possessor of the strong rope, and the guided affair, I ask You for security on the Day of the Threat, and Paradise on the Day of Immortality along with the witnesses, brought-close, who bow and prostrate, who fulfill the covenants, You are Merciful, Loving, and indeed, You do what You wish.
O Allah, make us guided guiders and not misguided misguiders, an ally to Your friends, an enemy to Your enemies. We love due to Your love, those who love You, and hate, due to Your enmity those who oppose You. O Allah, this is the supplication (that we are capable of), and it is upon You to respond, and this is the effort (that we are capable of), and upon You is the reliance. O Allah, appoint a light in my heart for me, and a light in my grave, and light in front of me, and light behind me, and light on my right, and light on my left, and light above me, and light below me, and light in my hearing, and light in my vision, and light in my hair, and light in my skin, and light in my flesh, and light in my blood, and light in my bones.
O Allah, magnify for me light, and appoint for me a light. Glory is to the One who wears Glory and grants by it. Glory is to the One for Whom glorification is not fitting except for Him, the Possessor of Honor and Bounties, Glory is to the Possessor of Glory and Generosity, Glory is to the Possessor of Majesty and Honor’
(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3419)
5.10 `Ikrimah, the freed slave of Ibn `Abbas (رضي الله عنهم), narrated that: Ibn `Abbas said: “We were with the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) when `Ali bin Abi Talib came to him, and he said: ‘May my father and mother be ransomed for you! This Qur’an has suddenly left my heart, and I do not find myself capable of it.’ So the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said to him: ‘O Abul-Hasan! Should I not teach you words that Allah shall benefit you with, and benefit whomever you teach, and they will make whatever you have learned in your chest firm?’ He said: ‘Of course, O Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم), so teach me.’
He (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said: ‘When it is the night of (before) Friday, then if you are able to stand in the last third of the night, then verily it is a witnessed hour, and supplication is answered in it. And my brother Ya`qub (عليه السلام) did say to his sons: I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord. He said: “Until the night of Friday comes.” So if you are not able, then stand in the middle of it, and if you are not able then stand in the first of it. And pray four Rak`ah. Recite Fatihatul-Kitab (the Opening of the Book) and Surat Ya-Sin in the first Rak`ah, and Fatihatul-Kitab and Ha-Mim Ad-Dukhan in the second Rak`ah, and Fatihatul-Kitab and Alif Lam Mim Tanzil As-Sajdah in the third Rak`ah, and Fatihatul-Kitab and Tabarak Al-Mufassal in the fourth Rak`ah. So when you have finished with the Tasha-hud, then praise Allah and mention Allah’s greatness in an excellent manner, and send Salat upon me – and be excellent in it – and upon the rest of the Prophets. And seek forgiveness for the believing men and the believing women, and for your brothers who have preceded you in faith. Then say in the end of that:
“O Allah, have mercy on me by abandonment of sins forever, so long as You keep me remaining. And have mercy on me from taking upon myself what does not concern me, and provide me good sight for what will make You pleased with me. O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Possessor of glory, and generosity, and honor that is not exceeded. I ask you, O Allah, O Rahman, by Your glory and the light of Your Face, to make my heart constant in remembering Your Book as You taught me, and grant me that I recite it in the manner that will make You pleased with me. O Allah, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Possessor of glory, and generosity, and honor that is not exceeded. I ask You, O Allah, O Rahman, by Your glory and the light of Your Face, to enlighten my sight with Your Book, and make my tongue free with it, and to relieve my heart with it, and to expand my chest with it, and to wash my body with it. For indeed, none aids me upon the truth other than You, and none gives it except You, and there is no might or power except by Allah, the High, the Magnificent."
O Abul-Hasan! So do this three Fridays, or five, or seven, you will be answered – by the will of Allah – by the One Who sent me with the Truth, it has not failed a believer once.’” `Abdullah bin `Abbas said: “So, by Allah, `Ali did not wait but five or seven until [`Ali] came to the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) in a gathering similar to that and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم), indeed I was [a man] in the time that passed, who used to not take except four Ayat or about that much, so when I would recite them to myself they would suddenly depart from me, and today I learn forty Ayat or about that much, and when I recite them to myself, then it is as if the Book of Allah is before my eyes. I used to hear a Hadith and when I would repeat it, it would suddenly depart from me, and today I hear Ahadith, and when I report them, I do not err in a single letter.’ So the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) said at that point: ‘A believer, by the Lord of the Ka`bah, O Abul-Hasan.’”
(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3570)
5.11 It was narrated from Muhammed bin Abdullah bin Zaid (رضي الله عنه) that his father said that: The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) was thinking of a horn, and he commanded that a bell be made and it was done. Then Abdullah bin Zaid (رضي الله عنه) had a dream. He said: "I saw a man wearing two green garments, carrying a bell. I said to him, O slave of Allah, will you sell the bell? He said; What will you do with it? I said, I will call (the people) to prayer. He said, Shall I not tell you of something better than that? I said, What is it? he said, Say:
Allah is The Most Great, Allah is The Most Great; Allah is The Most Great, Allah is The Most Great; I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah; I bear witness that Muhammed is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammed is the Messenger of Allah; Come to the Prayer, Come to the Prayer; Come to the prosperity, Come to the prosperity; Allah is the Most great, Allah is the Most Great; None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.
Abdullah bin Zaid (رضي الله عنه) went out and came to the Messenger of Allah, and told him what he had seen. He said, "O Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم), I saw a man wearing two green garments carrying a bell," and he told him the story. The Messenger of Allah said,
"Your companion has had a dream. Go out with Bilal (رضي الله عنه) to the mosque and teach it to him, for he has a louder voice than you."
I ( Abdullah) went out with Bilal to the mosque, and I started teaching him the words and he was calling them out. Umar Al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه) heard the voice and came out saying, "O Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم)! By Allah, I saw the same (dream) as him."
Abu Ubaid said: Abu Bakr Al-Hakami told me that Abdullah bin Zaid Al-Ansari (رضی الله عنهم) said concerning that:
I praise Allah, the Possessor of Majesty and Honor, A great deal of praise for the Adhan.Since the news of it came to me from Allah, So due to it, I was honored by the information. During the three nights. Each of which increased me in honor.
(Sunan Ibn Majah 706)

How To Make Dua
Tumblr media
How To Make Dua, a basic guide - Praise be to Allah. Du’a  is worship  Allah loves to be asked, and He encourages that in all things. He is angry with the one who does not ask of Him and He encourages His slaves to ask of Him. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):  “And your Lord said: “Invoke Me I will respond to your (invocation).”   Du’a is very important in Islam , so much so that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Du’a is worship.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3372; Abu Dawud, 1479; Ibn Majah, 3828; classed as sahih by al-Albani in Sahih al-Tirmidhi, 2590)  The etiquette of du’a  1. The one who is making du’a should believe in Tawhid with regard to the divinity, Lordship, names and attributes of Allah. His heart should be filled with Tawhid. In order for Allah to respond to the du’a, it is essential that the person should be responding to his Lord by obeying Him and not disobeying Him. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.”   2. Sincerity towards Allah Alone in making du’a . Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, and worship none but Him Alone (abstaining from ascribing partners to Him).”   Du’a is worship, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, so sincerity (ikhlas) is a condition of its being accepted.  3. We should ask of Allah by His most beautiful names . Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):  “And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allah, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names.”   4. We should praise Allah as He deserves before we call upon Him. Al-Tirmidhi (3476) narrated that Fadalah ibn ‘Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whilst the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting, a man came in and prayed and said, “O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “You have been too hasty, O worshiper. When you have prayed and are sitting, praise Allah as He deserves to be praised, and send blessings upon me, then call upon Him.” According to another version (3477): “When one of you prays, let him start with praise of Allah, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then let him ask whatever he likes after that.” Then another man prayed after that, and he praised Allah and sent blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “O worshiper, ask and you will be answered.” (Classed as sahih by al-Albani in Sahih al-Tirmidhi, 2765, 2767)  5. Sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Every du’a is kept back until you send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” Narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Awsat, 1/220; classed as sahهh by al-Albani in Sahih al-Jami’, 4399.  6. Facing towards the qiblah. Muslim (1763) narrated that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: On the day of Badr, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked at the mushrikin, who were one thousand strong, and his Companions numbered three hundred and nineteen. Then the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned to face the qiblah, then he stretched forth his hands and started to cry out to his Lord: “O Allah, grant me what You have promised me, O Allah, give me what You have promised me. O Allah, if this small band of Muslims perishes, You will not be worshipped on earth.” He kept on crying out to his Lord, stretching forth his hands, facing towards the qiblah, until his cloak fell from his shoulders…   Al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said in Sharh Muslim: This shows that it is mustahabb to face towards the qiblah when making du’a, and to raise the hands.  7. Raising the hands . Abu Dawud (1488) narrated that Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Your Lord, may He be blessed and exalted, is Kind and Most Generous, and He is too kind to let His slave, if he raises his hands to Him, bring them back empty.” Classed as sahih by Shaykh al-Albani in Sahih Abi Dawud, 1320.  The palm of the hand should be raised heavenwards, in the manner of a humble beggar who hopes to be given something. Abu Dawud (1486) narrated from Malik ibn Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When you ask of Allah, ask of Him with the palms of your hands, not with the backs of them.” Classed as sahih by Shaykh al-Albani in Sahih Abi Dawud, 1318.  Should the hands be held together when raising them or should there be a gap between them?  Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymin (may Allah have mercy on him) stated in al-Sharh al-Mumti’ (4/25) that they should be held together. What he said is: “As for separating them and holding them far apart from one another, there is no basis for that in the Sunnah or in the words of the scholars.” End quote.  8. Having certain faith that Allah will respond, and focusing with proper presence of mind, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Call upon Allah while you are certain of a response, and remember that Allah will not answer a du’a that comes from a negligent and heedless heart.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3479; classed as hasan by Shaykh al-Albani in Sahih al-Tirmidhi, 2766.  9. Asking frequently. A person should ask his Lord for whatever he wants of the good things in this world and the Hereafter, and he should beseech Allah in du’a, and not seek a hasty response, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The slave will receive a response so long as his du’a does not involve sin or severing of family ties, and so long as he is not hasty.” It was said, “What does being hasty mean?” He said: “When he says, ‘I made du’a and I made du’a, and I have not seen any response,’ and he gets frustrated and stops making du’a.” Narrated by al-Bukhari, 6340; Muslim, 2735.  10. He should be firm in his du’a, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “No one of you should say, ‘O Allah, forgive me if You wish, O Allah, have mercy on me if You wish’; he should be firm in his asking, for Allah cannot be compelled.” Narrated by al-Bukhari, 6339; Muslim, 2679.  11. Beseeching, humility, hope and fear. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):  “Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret.”   “Verily, they used to hasten to do good deeds, and they used to call on Us with hope and fear, and used to humble themselves before Us.”   “And remember your Lord within yourself, humbly and with fear and without loudness in words in the mornings and in the afternoons.”   12. Saying du’as three times. Al-Bukhari (240) and Muslim (1794) narrated that ‘Abd-Allah ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Whilst the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was praying at the Ka’bah, Abu Jahl and his companions were sitting nearby. They had slaughtered a camel the previous day, and Abu Jahl said: “Which of you will go and get the abdominal contents of the camel of Banu So and So and put it on the back of Muhammad when he prostrates?” The worst of the people went and got it, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prostrated, he placed it between his shoulders. They started laughing, leaning against one another. I was standing there watching, and if I had had any power, I would have lifted it from the back of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) remained in prostration, not lifting his head, until someone went and told Fatimah. She came with Juwayriyah, and lifted it from him, then she turned to them and rebuked them. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had finished his prayer, he raised his voice and prayed against them – and when he made du’a or asked of Allah he would repeat it three times – and he said: “O Allah, punish Quraysh” three times. When they heard his voice, they stopped laughing and were afraid because of his du’a. Then he said, “O Allah, punish Abu Jahl ibn Hisham, ‘Utbah ibn Rabi'ah, Shaybah ibn Rabi'ah, al-Walid ibn ‘Uqbah, Umayyah ibn Khalaf and ‘Uqbah ibn Abu Mu’ayt,” and he mentioned the seventh but I cannot remember who it was. By the One Who sent Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with the truth, I saw those whom he had named slain on the day of Badr, then they were dragged and thrown into the well, the well of Badr.  13. Ensuring that one’s food and clothing are good (i.e., halal). Muslim (1015) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “O people, Allah is Good and does not accept anything but that which is good. Allah enjoins upon the believers the same as He enjoined upon the Messengers. He says (interpretation of the meaning):  ‘O (you) Messengers! Eat of the Tayyibat and do righteous deeds. Verily, I am Well-Acquainted with what you do.’   ‘O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allah — Islamic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you with.’   Then he mentioned a man who travels for a long distance and is disheveled and dusty, and he stretches forth his hands towards heaven saying, ‘O Lord, O Lord,’ but his food is haram, his drink is haram, his clothing is haram, he has been nourished with haram, so how can he be responded to?  Ibn Rajab (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ensuring that one’s food, drink and clothing are halal, and that one is nourished with halal, is a means of having one’s du’a answered. End quote.  14. Saying du’a silently and not out loud. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):  “Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret.”   And Allah praised His slave Zakariyya (peace be upon him) by saying (interpretation of the meaning):  “When he called to his Lord (Allah) a call in secret.”   We have also discussed du’a and specific means by which a person may receive a response, as well as the etiquette of du’a and the times and places when a response may be hoped for, the state in which a person should be when making du’a, impediments to a response to du’a and the types of response. All of that may be found in the answer to question no. 5113 . And Allah knows best. Read the full article

THE COMPANIONS OF THE PROPHET (PBUH) : Companions in the Quran
The word Sahabi (Companion) is derived from the same root as the words “suhbah” (talk/conversation) and “sahib” (owner). A person who saw the Messenger of Allah as a believer and died as a believer is called a “Companion” (Sahabi). Sahaba and ashab are the plural form of sahabi. This word is also used in the form of Sahaba al-Kiram or Ashab al-Ghuzin meaning good and distinguished people.
The divine books, primarily the Quran, praised the Companions and mentioned their superior qualities.
There are several verses that praise and appreciate them in the Quran. Some of them are as follows:
“Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are strong against Unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other. Thou wilt see them bow and prostrate themselves (in prayer) seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure. On their faces are their marks, (being) the traces of their prostration. This is their similitude in the Towrah; and their similitude in the Gospel is: like a seed which sends forth its blade, then makes it strong; it then becomes thick and it stands on its own stem (filling) the sowers with wonder and delight. As a result, it fills the Unbelievers with rage at him. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds Forgiveness and a great Reward.” [ al-Fath, 29 ]
In the following verse, their praised properties are mentioned:
“Those who believe, and adopt exile, and fight for the Faith in the Cause of Allah, as well as those who give (them) asylum and aid― these are (all) in very truth the Believers: for them is the forgiveness of sins and a provision most generous.” [ al-Anfal, 74 ]
It is stated as follows that they attained the consent and pleasure of Allah:
“The vanguard (of Islam)― the first of those who forsook (their homes) and of those who gave them aid, and (also) those who follow them in (all) good deeds― well― pleased is Allah with them, as are they with Him: for them hath He prepared Gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever: that is the Supreme Felicity.” [ at-Tawba, 100. ]
The bonds of brotherhood of Muhajirs and Ansar are expressed as follows:
“Some part is due) to the indigent Muhajirs, those who were expelled from their homes and their property while seeking Grace from Allah and (His) Good pleasure, and aiding Allah and His Messenger: such are indeed the sincere ones―
And those who before them, had homes (in Medina) and had adopted the Faith― show their affection to such as came to them for refuge, and entertain no desire in their hearts for things given to the (latter), but give them preference over themselves even though poverty was their (own lot). And those saved from the covetousness of their own souls, they are the ones that achieve prosperity.
And those who came after them say: “Our Lord! Forgive us, and our brethren who came before us into the Faith and leave not in our hearts, rancor (or sense of injury) against those who have believed Our Lord! Thou art indeed Full of Kindness, Most Merciful.” [ al-Hashr, 8-10. ]
The courage of the Companions is narrated as follows:
“Men said to them: "A great army is gathering against you, so fear them”: but it (only) increased their Faith. They said: “For us Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs.” [ Aal-i Imran, 173. ]
In the other divine books, the Companions are mentioned with praise. The following is stated about them in Psalms: “O David (Dawud)! I rendered Muhammad and his ummah superior to all ummahs.” [ al-Bidaya, 2: 326. ] In the Old Testament, the Companions are mentioned as "the holy people” and in the New Testament as “people appointed for jihad”.
When Hz. Kab was asked about what is stated in the Bible about Companions, he said,
“Ahmad and his ummah praise Allah a lot. They never give up thanking Him whether they feel good or bad. They praise Allah and mention His name everywhere. Their supplication rises to the sky. They perform prayers in such awe that the humming they produce is similar to the humming of the bees on rocks. They form ranks like angels in prayers. When they fight in the way of Allah, angels are located in front of and behind them with their sharp and pointed spears and Allah gives them shade just as these white flowers follow the shade of their leaves - pointing to them with his index finger.” [ Hilyatu’l-Awliya, 5: 386. ]

PODSERIES: LOSING A LOVED ONE – PART 3 OF 4
Tumblr media
The last blog was discussing some of the ways which can help one deal with the loss of a loved one.
Another thing which can help is supplicating to Allah, the Exalted. One should supplicate and ask Allah, the Exalted, for patience in dealing with their tragedy so that they can reap an uncountable reward. Chapter 2 Al Baqarah, verses 156 to 157:
“Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.”
The Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, has advised, in a Hadith found in Sunan Ibn Majah, number 1447, to ask for forgiveness for oneself, the deceased and to request Allah, the Exalted, to replace their loss with something better. This something better includes the mercy of Allah, the Exalted, in both worlds.
One should also supplicate for the deceased as often as possible as it is proven from the Holy Quran and the Hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, that it benefits them. Chapter 14 Ibrahim, verse 41:
“Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established."
And chapter 59 Al Hashr, verse 10:
“…saying, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith…”
Finally, the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, have specifically mentioned in Hadiths such as the one found in Sunan Abu Dawud, number 2880, that the supplication of a child on behalf of their deceased parent is accepted.
Another thing which can help strengthen the faith of a muslim when a loved one departs is to sincerely forgive any wrong the deceased might have done to them. This causes the doors of mercy and forgiveness to be opened for the mourner as Allah, the Exalted, forgives those who forgive others for His sake. Chapter 24 An Nur, verse 22:
“…and let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you?...”
When one adopts this attitude it is hoped Allah, the Exalted, will provide them the strength to deal with their loss in a way which earns them countless reward.
Similarly, one should encourage others who were wronged by the deceased to also forgive them before the Day of Judgment arrives. As the Last Day is a day of justice. All wrongs will be put right by Allah, the Exalted. So if one who has wronged another does not obtain forgiveness from their victim they will be forced to hand over their good deeds to their victim and if required take their sins until justice is established. This may well lead to the oppressor being hurled into Hell. This has been warned in a Hadith found in Sahih Muslim, Number 6 5 7 9.
One can and should repay any debts their loved one left behind as this too is an important issue which will be addressed on Judgment Day.  All are aware of the rank of martyrdom yet, even their debts will not be forgiven until they are settled. This is confirmed in a Hadith found in Sahih Muslim, number 4880.
A muslim should also gain further blessings and the aid of Allah, the Exalted, by helping with the funeral arrangements and fees. Not only will this lead to blessings which will strengthen a muslim in their moment of grief but it is also considered a crucial part of helping one to move on from the death of their loved one.

Narrated Anas ibn Malik: I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and a man was offering prayer. He then made supplication: [3]
Allahumma inni as'aluka bi - anna lakal - hamd, lailaha illa ant, al - mannanu badi'us - samawati wal - ard, ya dhal jalali wal ikram! Ya hayyu ya qayyum
English Translation:
"O Allah, I ask Thee by virtue of the fact that praise is due to Thee, there is no deity but Thou, Who showest favour and beneficence, the Originator of the Heavens and the earth, O Lord of Majesty and Splendour, O Living One, O Eternal One."
There is great virtue and reward in supplicating with these names. The narration continues, "The Prophet ﷺ then said: He has supplicated Allah using His Greatest Name, when supplicated by this name, He answers, and when asked by this name He gives."

//Dua to attain Allah’s love
Abu Ad-Darda (RA) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said,
"One of Prophet Dawud's supplications was:
Allahumma inni as'aluka hubbaka, wa hubba man yuhibbuka, wal-'amalalladhi yuballighuni hubbaka.
O Allah! I ask You for Your Love, the love of those who love You, and deeds which will cause me to attain Your Love. O Allah! Make Your Love dearer to me than myself, my family and the cold water.”

Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah Al-Ma’idah Ayah 78-81
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
5:78 Those among the Children of Israel who disbelieved were cursed by the tongue of Dawud and `Isa, son of Maryam. That was because they disobeyed (Allah and the Messengers) and were ever transgressing (beyond the bounds).
5:79 They used not to forbid one another from the evil they committed.
Vile indeed was what they used to do.
5:80 You see many of them taking the disbelievers as their friends.
Evil indeed is that which they have sent forward before themselves; for that (reason) Allah is wrath with them, and in torment they will abide.
5:81 And had they believed in Allah, and in the Prophet and in what has been revealed to him, never would they have taken them as friends; but many of them are rebellious.
Allah Cursed the Disbelievers Among the Children of Israel
Allah says;
Those among the Children of Israel who disbelieved were cursed by the tongue of Dawud and `Isa, son of Maryam. That was because they disobeyed (Allah and the Messengers) and were ever transgressing (beyond the bounds).
Allah states that He has cursed the disbelievers among the Children of Israel long ago, and revealed this fact to His Prophets Dawud and `Isa, son of Maryam. He cursed them because they disobeyed Allah and transgressed against His creatures.
Al-Awfi reported that Ibn Abbas said, "They were cursed in the Tawrah, the Injil, the
Zabur (Psalms) and the Furqan (Qur'an).'' Allah then states that during their time, their habit was that,
They used not to forbid one another from the evil they committed.
They did not forbid each other from committing sins and the prohibitions. Allah chastised them for this behavior, so that their behavior would not be imitated.
Allah said,
Vile indeed was what they used to do.
Hadiths that Order Enjoining Righteousness and Forbidding Evil
There are many Hadiths that order enjoining righteousness and forbidding evil.
Imam Ahmad recorded that Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman said that the Prophet said,
By He in Whose Hand is my soul! You will enjoin righteousness and forbid evil, or Allah will send a punishment on you from Him. Then, you will supplicate to Him, but He will not accept your supplication.
At-Tirmidhi also recorded it and said, "This Hadith is Hasan.''
Muslim recorded that Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri said that the Messenger of Allah said,
He among you who witnesses an evil, let him change it with his hand, if he cannot do that, then by his tongue, if he cannot do even that, then with his heart, and this is the weakest faith.
Abu Dawud said that Al-Urs, (meaning Ibn Amirah), said that the Prophet said,
When sin is committed on the earth, then whoever witnesses it and hates - (once he said): forbids it, will be like those who did not witness it. Whoever was absent from it, but agreed with it, will be like those who witness it.
Only Abu Dawud recorded this Hadith. Abu Dawud recorded that one of the Companions said that the
Prophet said,
The people will not perish until they do not leave -or- have any excuse for themselves.
Ibn Majah recorded that Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri said that the Messenger of Allah gave a speech once and said,
Behold! Fear from people should not prevent one from saying the truth if he knows it.
Abu Sa`id then cried and said, "By Allah! We have seen some errors, but we feared (the people).''
Another Hadith that Abu Sa`id narrated states that the Messenger of Allah said,
The best Jihad is a word of truth proclaimed before an unjust ruler.
Recorded by Abu Dawud, At-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah.
At-Tirmidhi said, "Hasan Gharib from this route of narration.''
Imam Ahmad recorded that Hudhayfah said that the Prophet said,
It is not required of the Muslim that he humiliate himself. They said, `How does one humiliate himself?'' he said;
He takes on trials that he is not capable of enduring. This was recorded by At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah, and At-
Tirmidhi said, "This Hadith is Hasan Sahih Gharib.''
Censuring the Hypocrites
Allah said,
You see many of them taking the disbelievers as their friends.
Mujahid said that this Ayah refers to the hypocrites.
Allah's statement,
Evil indeed is that which they have sent forward before themselves; by giving their loyalty and support to the disbelievers, instead of the believers. This evil act caused them to have hypocrisy in their hearts and brought them the anger of Allah, that will remain with them until the Day of Return.
Allah said;
for that (reason) Allah is wrath with them. because of what they did.
Allah next said that,
in torment they will abide. on the Day of Resurrection.
Allah's statement,
And had they believed in Allah, and in the Prophet and in what has been revealed to him, never would they have taken them as friends.
meaning, had they sincerely believed in Allah, His Messenger and the Qur'an, they would not have committed the evil act of supporting the disbelievers in secret and being enemies with those who believe in Allah, the Prophet and what was revealed to him,
but many of them are rebellious.
disobedient to Allah and His Messenger and defiant of the Ayat of His revelation that He sent down.

Did the prophet perform spiritual accounting too? If he did, will you give examples of his spiritual accounting?
- Spiritual accounting does not mean seeing the mistakes of one’s soul and thinking about one’s sins only. There are so many subtler degrees of taqwa along with them. It will be useful to note them in the notebook of the heart.
- We have not been able to find a clear expression stating that the Prophet (pbuh) performed spiritual accounting. However, his life shows that he performed spiritual accounting.
It will be useful to attract attention to the following points regarding the issue:
1. Hz. Aisha narrates: I asked the Messenger of Allah (pbuh): Are the people mentioned in the verse “And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord” (al-Muminun, 23/60) ‘those who drink and steal’? The Prophet (pbuh) said, ‘O daughter of Siddiq! They are those who perform prayers, fast and give sadaqah. They fear that their good deeds will not be accepted. They are the people who compete one another to do good/charitable deeds.’ (see Tirmidhi, Tafsir, 23/3175; Ibn Majah, Zuhd, 20)
This hadith shows that spiritual accounting is not limited with sins and that it can be related to whether good deeds will be accepted or not; it also shows that the Prophet (pbuh) performed such spiritual accounting since he explained the verse like that.
2. Hz. Aisha narrates: The Prophet (pbuh) would worship until his blessed feet swelled at night. I asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Why do you get tired so much though Allah forgave your previous and future sins?" The Prophet said, "O Aisha! Shall I not be a slave who thanks Allah?" (Bukhari, Tahajjud, 6; Muslim, Kitabu Salatil-Musafirina wa Qasriha, 18) With that sentence, the Prophet stated that he performed prayers like that due to love of Allah and pleasure of worshipping, not due to fear of Allah.
3. The invocations and supplications of the Prophet (pbuh) in Jawshan al-Kabir, which is a prophetic invocation, and in his many other invocations and what he mentions in his invocations and supplications show that he performed spiritual accounting.
4. That the Prophet repented and asked for forgiveness a hundred times a day shows how seriously he performed spiritual accounting.
According to a narration, the Prophet (pbuh) said, “There is (at times) some sort of shade upon my heart, and I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times a day.” (see Muslim, Dhikr, 41; Abu Dawud, Witr, 26)
The above statement of the Prophet (pbuh) shows his distinguished place in worshipping and his meticulous understanding of responsibility.
- According to some scholars, the hadith above states that the Prophet (pbuh) sometimes forgot some dhikr, wird and meditation that he performed every day – as a human being – and hence he repented and asked for forgiveness.
According to some other scholars, the Prophet (pbuh) sometimes assumed such a state in the knowledge of Allah that he would be overwhelmed with dhikr and tawhid or his heart would be covered by solemnity, peace and tranquility; and he would repent and ask for forgiveness as gratitude due to this nice state, which he regarded as a great blessing.
According to some other scholars, the Prophet (pbuh) progressed on the steps of worshipping all the time. When he ascended one step up, he would repent and ask for forgiveness because of being on the previous step. (see Ibn Hajar, Fathul-Bari, 11/101-102)
They all show that the Prophet (pbuh) performed spiritual accounting more than everybody else since he feared Allah more than everybody else.

One of the etiquettes to supplicate to Allah is to send the salawat to Rasulullah salla Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
🌸 "When one of you prays, let him begin by glorifying his Rabb the Almighty with praises, and then with salawat for the Prophet, and then you may supplicate for whatever you wish." [Sunan Abi Dawud 1481 | Graded Sahih by Al-Albani]

I never leave the house without supplicating with this dua. You can also recite Ayat ul kursi along with it. This creates a stronger form of protection against evil. Anas ibn Maalik (Radhi Allah Anh) reported: Prophet Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) said, “Whoever says upon leaving his house: بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللّٰهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ Bismillaahi, tawakkaltu 'alallaahi, wa laa hawla wa laa quwwata illaa billaah In the Name of Allah, I have placed my trust in Allah; there is no might and no power except by Allah. it will be said to him: ‘You are guided, defended and protected.’ The devil will go far away from him.” Abu Dawud report it with this addition: “One devil will say to another: ‘How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected?’” [Abu Dawud 4/325, At-Tirmithi 5/490 and An-Nasa'i.
