“Not Feeling Well,” Willie Nelson Will Miss Three Outlaw Music Festival Dates; Lukas Nelson to Fill In
- “He is expected to make a quick recovery,” festival organizers say
Under “doctor’s orders” to rest, Willie Nelson will miss the first three dates of his Outlaw Music Festival, event organizers said.
“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” they said in a statement. “He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”
The announcement came hours before the tour kicks off June 21 in Georgia. Willie’s son Lukas Nelson will instead play with Dad’s Family Band “along with a few guests;” Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and Celisse will perform as scheduled.
Nelson will also miss shows scheduled for June 22 and 23 in North Carolina. He could return as early as June 26 in Virginia.
Headlined by Nelson, the Outlaw Music Festival is scheduled to run through Sept. 20, with different lineups on various legs.
Checking out Dylan's setlists for the first two nights of the Outlaw music festivals gigs and why oh why did you have to remind me of Hank's song Cold cold heart, Bobby D? That song gets too close. Hank is singing about me and now Bob sings about me too. My poor heart... please come here and melt it. It could be nice, I think. I will flood the whole living room I am sure. There is love in there but a bit locked up, I think.
But when that is said, I like the song. It's a good song. I am surprised to hear that Willie is not well. Luckily his son is there to keep up the spirits.
Dylan's setlists have got a little summer vibe going, I think. He chooses different songs than the last gigs on his tour. He looks relaxed and in a summer mood with an open shirt and freshly fixed hair.
Surprised to see Soon after midnight on the setlist yesterday. I always liked that song. It has got a special glow to it. And he sings covers I never heard before. Cool!

After Bruce passed on a tip about possible mass mind control, Jason and the outlaws infiltrate a music festival as one of the bands. Between him, Roy, and Starfire, they had the look, and after a bit of practice, they could half ass a performance if needed. Now they just had to find the cause, and hopefully before they actually had to play. Three days of noise and sweaty unwashed festival goers while they watch their suspect, what could go wrong?

Danny, older and hopefully wiser, had lost his home. He could not go back to Amity Park, without risking his (half)life and that ate at him. His missed his friends, his home, his haunt, but they were out of reach from him.
Losing his home was a bigger blow than any physical one he’d ever received. Ghosts are purely emotion and thought. Mental wounds cause far more damage than anything else. Not fist, blasters, or scalpels could compare. He was a weakened shell of his former self, always in need of something more.
And Ember had helped him fill that need. She had found him, shivering and alone, and had taken him under her wing. She had trained him, showed him how to make music, make others happy with it, and fill that need. She had given him a purpose, and he was grateful.
When a tall man bult like a tank started cozying up to him, Danny thought things might not be so bad. Sure, he had their big show to get ready for, but there wasn’t any harm in enjoying the festival with this “Tod Peters”

Jason is investigating Danny and Ember with the Outlaws. Jason charms Danny for information, and finds himself genuinely enjoying Danny’s company. Starfire and Roy might also get involved if we want to make if poly(which I kind of do)
just saw Robert live for the first time tonight… sobbing crying screaming shaking throwing up shitting myself; it was a spiritual experience to say the least. then i open Instagram and Jimmy hits me with another load of emotional baggage that i honestly couldn’t handle and i start sobbing for the loss of someone who died many years before i was even born. and bro, on top of it all my head hurts so bad i can’t even see straight. but if the world blows up tomorrow, i will have seen the golden god HIMSELF and he sang Rock n Roll for me as well 😭

Soundly Spiritual: Willie Nelson and Billy Strings Complete the Circle
- Strings and band, Larkin Poe join Nelson & Family for “Will the Circle be Unbroken” -> “I’ll Fly Away”
Will the circle be unbroken?
It’s like asking if Willie Nelson and Billy Strings are high.
The answer is: duh.
Strings and his band joined Nelson and his Family Band, plus Larkin Poe, to close a recent Outlaw Music Festival stop with the traditional pairing of “Will the Circle be Unbroken” -> “I’ll Fly Away.”
It’s available on a low-quality, audience-shot video. Fidelity notwithstanding, there’s undoubtedly a musically religious component in the 89-year-old Nelson coaxing not once, but twice, his 29-year-old guest to “Play it, Billy.”
And play it Billy does, basking in the glory of Willie and sporting a matching red bandana that is Nelson’s trademark. To see Strings’ pristine steel-stringed guitar alongside the battered-and-frayed nylons of Trigger is to see the circle beginning to close a loop that begins with the Carter Family, arcs around Hank Williams and Nelson and moves toward Strings.
No one knows the veracity of the big truth these songs purport to tell, but there’s little doubt Strings will keep the circle going when Nelson does fly away.
Let’s all pray that’s not for a long, long time.
