Today’s Digital Literacy covered digitally presenting your work.  It covered the basics such as PowerPoint, and how to export a PowerPoint to a PDF for easy file sharing.  I also want to make a quick note for any students needing a free presentation-maker that OpenOffice offers free presentation makers and word processors.  The layout is very similar- nearly identical in fact- to Microsoft Office, and allows you to save your files in the Microsoft formats (.pptx, .docx, etc.) as well as PDF, which makes it easy to create a document from your home computer on a free platform, but still use it on work or school computers with Office subscriptions.  This presentation also discussed online options for creating presentations, such as Prezi.  Having watched presentations on Prezi in the past, I will note that I actually find the added movement in their ‘zooming’ style presentation to be relatively distracting, so I doubt I will use it much myself unless required.  We also learned about presenting our work as a website or digital portfolio.  This can be done through sites such as Behance and Issuu, which allow you to share your work through the idea of a feed. You can also create a website using platforms such as Weebly, Wix, and Squarespace.  I have actually used Wix in the past, back when it still had a free level, and at the time it was very messy to use.  I would be curious about if they have made it more user-friendly since making it paid subscription-only.  I could definitely see myself using one of these platforms in the future to create my own digital portfolio/website.
