If you crave magic rooted in ancient pacts, unsettling rituals, and the raw, untamed forces of nature, the Witch class offers a unique and thematic take on spellcasting.
What is a Witch?
Witches are arcane spellcasters who draw their power from eldritch forces, forgotten pacts, and the very essence of the natural world. They are figures of mystery, known for their eerie presence and affinity for curses, hexes, and strange trinkets. Whether solitary hermits or protectors of hidden wilderness, Witches weave complex webs of magic to influence the world around them.
Key Features:
Intelligence-Based Spellcasting: Your intellect is the conduit for your power, allowing you to master a blend of arcane and nature-based magic focused on curses, enchantments, and hexes.
Dual Spellcasting System: Beyond your main Spell Slots, gain Pact Magic slots that recover on a Short Rest, giving you sustained magical influence throughout your adventures.
Hex Casting: At 2nd level, subtly undermine your foes with powerful Hexes, imposing disadvantage on their attacks, saving throws, or ability checks.
Unique Witch's Paths: Choose your tradition at 3rd level, specializing in distinct forms of witchcraft:
Coven of the Crone: Bond with your allies to share and amplify magical power, bolstering their spells and sharing the burden of concentration. Perfect for witches who thrive in a communal, supportive role.
Wildwood Whisperer: Forge an unbreakable connection with nature, gaining resilience, the ability to commune with the wild, and mastering spells that reflect growth and primal force. Ideal for those who wish to embody the untamed spirit of the forest.
Shadow Weaver: Manipulate darkness, fear, and illusions to confound enemies. Become a master of stealth, terror, and misdirection, dominating the battlefield with unsettling presence.
New Thematic Spells: Discover five brand-new spells designed specifically for the Witch, including the psychic cantrip Agonizing Whisper, the sickening Blighted Touch, and the disruptive Creeping Vines.
The Witch is designed for players who want to explore a darker, more unconventional magical archetype, offering versatile control, potent debuffs, and strong thematic ties to ancient lore and the wild.

He wakes up every day and has to remind himself several times that he doesn’t kill people anymore. “It would be so much easier to win this case if I could just stab the witness the prosecution paid off” he whines at breakfast
“yes dear but murder is?”
“wrong.”
“and you?”
“don’t do that anymore.”

tagged by @pactmagic - thank you! i love things like this.
your name: weatheredlaw! people always ask where it came from but honestly i just smashed some words together when i was like 16 and here we are.
fandoms you write for: ohh a lot. red vs blue, good omens, dragon age -- right now i’m on a gomens kick if you couldn’t tell
where you post: ao3! and i share a link here.
most popular one shot: so it is, unfortunately, a zootopia one shot i wrote before i exited stage left from that fandom because people were assholes. i have like, two people i met during that time i still speak to, lol.
most popular multi chapter story: -grits teeth- it is also a zootopia fic that was actually a collection of one-offs.
favorite story you’ve written: oh i have a couple!
the tower and the chariot - taz, rated M, story about magnus and kalen being friends and how it all fell apart
have you tried feeling happier - red vs blue rated E, ongoing fic about the reds and blues on chorus in a canon divergent universe post season 15
dream to me - good omens, rated m, the bentley and the bookshop fall in love
story you were nervous to post: i’m a freak and honestly i haven’t had this problem.
how do you choose titles: lines of songs and poems, mostly. phrases that stick with me.
do you outline: i really TRY. i try so hard. i tend to fail.
how many of your stories are complete? mmmmm most.
how many of your stories are in progress?  several
coming soon: chapter 3 of with all your delights. other stuff. idk i just work here.
do you accept prompts?  sure but i won’t answer them usually and then i’ll feel super guilty so don’t unless i ask.
upcoming story you’re most excited to write? some stuff! idk my gomens big bang excites me, but i can’t discuss it; i’ve got an au that @soft-october-night and i realized we were inspired by the same text post and that excites me!

I second @pactmagic. One thing I find so compelling about both Crowley and Aziraphale as characters is their humanity when they aren't human at all.
Curiosity is a deeply human trait. So are fear, courage, and love, among many others that are explored through many of the characters in Good Omens as well.
Doubt is a form of curiosity, a way of asking questions. Crowley is punished for curiosity but sticks by this inner drive because knowledge is more interesting to him than safety (also it's kind of too late so he might as well keep going). This is a direct parallel to human progress - curiosity can cost us our lives, but all progress comes from asking questions. (Sidebar: there's a great short story somewhere about the first person to eat an oyster, think about the guts that took like what??)
The other part of Crowley I find relatably human is it's kind of fun to inconvenience people every now and then. We're not perfect creatures, and sometimes knowing you mildly pissed someone off can be perversely satisfying. I personally like to balance this out with being nice to people, but I am not above teasing, pranking or annoying people on occasion.
I identify with Crowley a lot, is what I'm saying.
Tumblr media
I just love how with two simple words, we’re told that Crowley 100% already knows what’s going on with the Ark, he just played dumb to have an excuse to talk to Aziraphale.
He should not know the name of Noah’s son if he hasn’t a clue what’s going on here, but he does know the name of Noah’s son, which mean he’s a Lying Liar Who Lies.
Like, I’ve seen some posts that talk about how Crowley let the kids braid his hair and such, and I just imagine him hanging out with Noah and his sons for a while, befriending the kids
Definitely Not Helping, because he’s a demon, after all. I mean, if you think about the story of Noah and then try to figure out what Crowley is doing there, his job there is officially probably to stop everyone from believing Noah and his family, but he doesn’t really have to lift a finger for that. His first experience with humans doing his work for him, really.
And as the time of the storm approaches, Noah loading animals into the ark, Crowley supervising, he sees a figure in white and then immediately says to himself, “right, time to act dumb so that the pretty angel will talk to me again.”
Tumblr media
I mean, look at the way he’s looking at Aziraphale. That is the face of a demon thinking, “Gosh, you’re cute. Let’s find a tent and make-out like the world’s about to flood.”
You should also, Definitely For Science, see Crowley’s expression when Aziraphale starts to explain the Ark to him.
Tumblr media
“Ah, yes, I definitely, 100% know nothing about this. First I’m hearing of it, honestly!”
Crowley, you’re a dumbass, and I love you.

Tagged by @walkthegale  (she tagged me at atlantisrises but I’m answering here cuz this is where the fic lives)
your name: Pactmagic (because I like warlocks too much) and atlantisrises (from this poem, which punched me in the gut when I was a grieving teenager and remains a favorite)
fandoms you write for: TAZ (although I haven’t since Balance), BNHA (though not recently),  Critical Role, Good Omens, The Penumbra Podcast
where you post: AO3. I usually link here too.
most popular one shot: based on kudos and comments it’s huzzah (Critical Role Campaign 2 gen)
most popular multi chapter story: I’ve only ever posted one multi-chapter fic: for all the light that i shut out (Good Omens / Crowley-centric theological angst). Ironically, it’s shorter than many of my one-shots and only had chapters because I was too lazy to figure out scene breaks without them.
favorite story you’ve written: Oh Lord I don’t know. In terms of just being proud of the flow and structure of my writing, probably:
lonely/cold/empty (CR campaign 2
what’s a devil to do (Good Omens)
things we lost in the fire (TAZ: Balance)
I also enjoyed writing we both know a break (CR campaign 2) because I really love Beau’s POV
story you were nervous to post: you keep saying that was baby’s first smut fic so probably that one.
how do you choose titles: I usually just pick something from a song that fits and/or is stuck in my head. I’ve also used poetry or a line from the fic itself, but that’s pretty rare.
do you outline: Not in any meaningful way. Like, I’ve tried in the past and I still do for non-fanfic writing. But I’ve learned that I never get fanfic done unless I can sorta sit down and shove it all onto the screen in one sitting, and outlines don’t help with that process (this is also why I don’t write long-form multichapter fic).
how many of your stories are complete? All of them (see above). There are a few--it’s alright, it’s ok (Penumbra) and what’s a devil to do (Good Omens)--that may eventually get continuations, but they stand as complete stories as they are now.
how many of your stories are in progress?  See above. Honestly, I’m never gonna post a story in progress chapter by chapter; I’m busy as hell with academic stuff and too likely to abandon it, and the guilt of that would just add stress I don’t need.
coming soon: No promises on any of this (again, I don’t need more writing guilt following me around!) but I have some ideas for Anathema-centric Good Omens fics. I’ve had an angsty Empire Siblings character study rolling around in my head for ages, but I’ve been falling further and further behind on CR and I dunno if it would make any sense anymore. I’m also Leverage trash always and forever and maybe someday I’ll write the terrible fic about Eliot Spencer dying that I laid out for @alithographica like a year ago.
do you accept prompts?  Yes! I love prompts! But! There is literally never a guarantee that I’ll write them!
If it’s for a drabble I’m much more likely to complete it, though.
upcoming story you’re most excited to write? I’m actually writing a podcast spec script that I’m excited about. As for fic, I don’t have anything started but that Empire Sibs one is kinda delicious.
tagging: @laratoncita; my new dnd bud @weatheredlaw; and anyone else who feels like it!
