Shaitaan Box Office: Ajay Devgn starrer crosses Rs. 75 crores in 6 days, all set to enter Rs. 100 Crores Club this weekend

After being in theatres for six days, Shaitaan has achieved one major milestone, that of crossing Rs. 75 crores mark at the box office. The film opened quite well at Rs. 15.21 crores on the partial holiday of Maha Shivratri and ever since then has been quite stable. While Monday too held well at Rs. 7.81 crores, the collections hardly dropped till Wednesday when Rs. 6.27 crores came in.

The film has sustained rather well despite Ramzan being on and today too it would hang in there well with at least Rs. 5.75 crores on the cards. For a film like this which has its base in black magic, the only factor that could bring in such kind of big numbers was a notable star cast, and presence of Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan has made this happen. Otherwise, such films are typically low cost affairs with unknown/not so notable star cast and the best case scenario is to reach till Rs. 50 crores lifetime.

That number was actually surpassed in the opening weekend itself and now the film has reached Rs. 75.78 crores. Today, it will cross Rs. 80 crores mark and then over the weekend it will enter Rs. 100 Crores Club. The film will easily cross Rs. 125 crores in its lifetime and it would be the journey from there till Rs. 140 crores, which would be closely observed.

Studio Other Spaces Designs a Conical Structure with 832 Vibrant Glass Panels That Reflect Sonoma’s Weather

A bold, conical structure stands on The Donum Estate in Sonoma Valley, casting a vibrant kaleidoscope of 24 colors underneath its canopy. The work of Studio Other Spaces—artist Olafur Eliasson (previously) and architect Sebastian Behmann co-founded the Berlin-based studio in 2014— “Vertical Panorama Pavilion” is “inspired by the history of circular calendars,” containing 832 glass pieces arranged around an oculus opening to the north.

Shaitaan Box Office Estimate Day 3: Collects approx. Rs. 22 cr. on Sunday; eyes the 100-crore club after Rs. 56 cr. opening weekend

The Ajay Devgn-led Shaitaan has scored excellent numbers in its opening weekend as after opening at Rs. 15.23 crore on Friday, the film jumped by 28 percent to collect Rs. 19.18 crore on Saturday, followed by another 15-17 percent jump to clock Rs. 21.75 to 22.25 crore on Sunday. This takes the 3-day opening weekend collection to Rs. 56 crore as per estimates.

Shaitaan is doing well across the board - be it single screens or multiplexes - and has already emerged as a hit film with its trend in the opening weekend. The film opened on Friday and the business was boosted due to the Maha Shiv Ratri, but the spikes on non-festive Saturday and Sunday indicate a long leg for the film at the box office.

The audience's word of mouth is positive and Shaitaan will soon enter the Rs. 100 crore club at the box office. A stronghold on Monday is more or less confirmed and we need to see if the film has enough legs to clock double digits on day four. Shaitaan will be the third big grosser for Ajay Devgn in the post-pandemic world after Sooryavanshi, and Drishyam 2.

His next film, Maidaan, also looks promising but the big blockbuster will come in the 2nd half of 2024 with the Rohit Shetty-directed Singham Again.

It is annoying to purchase something and discover that it does not meet the claims of the manufacturer. *Yes, I realize there are printers that print wider than this, but then they're below what we normally regard as photo quality, so worrying about having 300 ppi to feed them seems pointless. I'm not aware of a photo inkjet that prints wider than 64", or a photo RA-4 / C-print / wet printer that prints wider than 72",* but I guess anyone wanting a panorama longer than a bit under 9 ft is just out of luck, or forced to accept using something less than 300 ppi. Wow, it really must be disappointing to be unable to interpolate an image to larger than 107x80" at 300 ppi. I was able to enlarge a smaller (12MP) image 6x, however. Specifically, when I select any size larger than 2.75x, it only gives chooses 2.75x as the enlargement. However, Gigapixel simply will enlarge the 11,648 x 8,73 pixels images from my GFX 100s more than 2.75x. I was surprised, because Topaz' website says they can be enlarged up to 6x without any loss of quality. I purchased Topaz Gigapixel AI today and it seems that the largest it allows me to enlarge most of my full-size image files is 2.75x. I meant to say that Gigapixel AI simply will not enlarge the 11,648 x 8,736 pixel images from my GFX 100s more than 2.75x. I only use it to uprez my old images that were originally shot at 6MP. Personally I've never used it on images that size though. That's using the latest version downloaded today v5.7.3.

I've not noticed any issues with maximum sizes however I did just download a GFX 100S sample image, and you're correct, I can't get it to enlarge it to enlarge it by more than 2.75x either. In playing with it a little, it seems that it caps the image size to 32,000 x 24,000 pixels, which seems like it kind of defeats the purpose because it is easy to stitch together a panorama bigger than that, and to do so without paying for additional software. I contacted Topaz but as it is the weekend, I suspect I won't hear back until Monday.

Sometimes things get a little crazy when you paint what you dream!…. The last step was using Topaz (see sidebar for website link) ReStyle Swamp and Sherpea Blue preset set to Screen blend mode in the plug-in and 44% layer opacity in PS to adjust the colors to match my dream. The little bubbles were from Lizard Queen Water brush 8. The bubbles were created using Grut’s FX IL Rinse Drip from his Inky Leaks Set (I love this brush set) and used Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layers with black layer masks to paint in the different color bubbles. The clover is from PixelSquid, my favorite resource for all kinds of odd things. So what I did here is basically just sketch this out and paint it. I see a lots of stories going on here – like flowers actually filling the sky with planets or moons? Or bubbles being shot at a target? Really? And what about those giant 3-leaf clovers guarding the bubble machines? Hum! So there you have it, the inside workings of my sleeping brain. Well that is what a lot of this image is showing – one of my very vivid dreams. Have you ever had a dream that just seems so vivid that you remember several parts of it. The last step added the text using Naive Deco Sans font.

On a layer on top, a Spotlight Effect was created on the flower (see my How to Add a Spot of Light blog). (See my How to Create a Subtle Dodge and Burn Effect blog.) Some selective sharpening was done with a 50% gray layer and painting was done on the flowers using my SJ Pastel 3 Brush (see my How to Create my Favorite Brush blog). Once in topaz, I’ll make fine adjustments to the precision contrast to taste. A little burning was done on a layer above to emphasize some of the flower lines a little. I like to start off with a somewhat neutral-looking but properly exposed image in Lightroom, without any additional contrast applied, and then send the photo into the Topaz Studio 2 plug-in. Back in PS, On1 Photo Raw 2018 (see sidebar for website link) Effects was opened and their Glow Filter Orton Hear a Who preset at 75% opacity and the Noise Reduction filter Shadows preset was applied. Then the Precision Contrast filter was applied at 0.84 opacity and the Lighting Shadow set way down to give it a very dark background. This image used Topaz Studio’s (see sidebar for website link) Impression default with some slider changes including the Painting Progress slider at 0.60 – then painted out most of the effect off the flower. In Photoshop just practiced some of the things I have been learning about the various plug-ins filters. Used setting from Urban Walk 15 Vintage Street preset in Lightroom.
