ttpd is sooo fascinating on an artistic level because on the one hand we have this somewhat stagnant production style that does not really elevate the songs or themes and rehashes the soundscapes of past album releases, and on the other hand the lyricism in part feels derivative of artists who might not exist without Taylor paving their way through her confessional songwriting. there is a sense of Being Stuck on this record that would lend itself well to thorough analysis, but instead every other negative ttpd review feels like a takedown of Taylor Swift The Person.
#i think one thing most reviewers agree on is the production feeling underwhelming#though this - as well as this post in general - is partially a subjective assessment#but yea. ttpd fascinating little thing.#and the artists that i feel it is derivative of are phoebe and ethel cain who both have gotten taylor comparisons#and lana and florence although they Did Their Thing first#idk man fucks me up that nobody talks about this in a way that is genuinely intrigued#fantano review made me so annoyed at some point it's just not music criticism anymore

I have discovered through personal experience that the phrase "partial derivative" sounds absolutely terrifying until you learn that it's actually not at all what you imagined.
So, you know how you can take the first, second, etc. derivative of a function, yeah? I thought a partial derivative was, like, a one-and-a-halfth derivative or some shit lol.
No! It's just ignoring everything else and treating them like constants lol!

i will never understand the insular fraternalism that so many (mostly white) ftm/trans men participate in... why are you so hellbent on having no transfeminine friends? you don't want to get to know any trans women as people? you don't want to listen to their life experiences? you don't want to play videogames with them? you don't want to talk about book recommendations with them? you don't want to talk about their pet dogs or cats or fish or birds or lizards with them? you don't want to share parts of your life with them? why the fuck not?
#part of the reason i have never related to transmasc insular fraternalism is that so much of it derives from transmedicalism#like a lot of those original 'trans men only space' types are or were transmedicalists/truscum#who automatically disqualified me from transmasculinity as a 'faker' for not wearing a binder or wearing dresses#or never wanting facial hair despite going on T#invalidating my gender fluidity or invalidating my partial manhood because of my remaining proximity by choice to femininity#because god forbid i have a complex gender identity#i've always felt safer around my in-person transfem friends... as far as in-person trans friends go#when such a MAJOR component of your identity-centric space-carving revolves around excluding women... you're just a fucking MRA
