(Now, the reaction crew and Crossover Characters walk through portals to their home dimensions, shouting farewells.)

MARINETTE: Bye! Thanks for everything! Come back anytime!

(The portals close. Marinette walks away with her friends.)

MARINETTE (V.O.): And so, things are back on track, the way they should be. I’m back with the people I can safely call my friends and family again, and I’m back in François Dupont. Things have changed, of course. Chloé, Sabrina, and Lila have officially joined the friend group, and Lila, Mr. Agreste, and Ms. Sancoeur were sentenced to community service and are on probation until further notice. Also, Mayor Bourgeois made an announcement last week.

(Outside City Hall, André Bourgeois stands before the Parisians with the Miraculous and akuma heroes.)

ANDRÉ BOURGEOIS: (OVER MIC) With the power vested in me, this team will continue to work together as Team Miraculous, led by Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

(Everyone cheers for them.)

MARINETTE (V.O.): In other news, Adrien and I have started going out, and I have become a famous face on the city streets.

(Marinette crosses the street to the school. August’s mother passes behind her.)

AUGUST’S MOTHER: Hey, Marinette! Good luck on that test!

MARINETTE: Thanks, ma’am!

QUENTIN’S MOTHER: Excuse me, can my son have an autograph?

MARINETTE: Of course.

(With her pen, Marinette signs the paper.)

QUENTIN: Thanks, Ms. Marinette.

MARINETTE: Anytime.

MARINETTE (V.O.): I also stayed in touch with my new friends, finding out that Luna-TK has since gone on to have a baby with her husband. As for Mr. Agreste, Adrien and I found out what happened to Mrs. Agreste, and we agreed to let him revive her and restore Ms. Sancouer’s health, with the exchange being the aforementioned court sentence. And, no, the universe didn’t restart itself when the wish was made. Oh, and the Peacock Miraculous has been fixed, therefore, it’s safe to use.

(Nathalie puts on the Peacock Miraculous. Coming out of it, Duusu faces her.)

DUUSU: Hello again, Ms. Nathalie.

(Nathalie’s transformation sequence begins.)

NATHALIE: Duusu, spread my feathers!

(As Nathalie throws off her glasses, Duusu enters the brooch. It gains the colors of a peacock tail. Starting from her feet, Nathalie gains her blue dress and fuzzy collar, indigo tights and skin, and blue peacock tail hand fan, becoming Mayura.)

(Mayura lets a feather float into her hand and turns it into an Amok. It floats away and approaches a bear-like akuma hero.)

MAYURA: Hello. I am Mayura. Your Sentimonster will be your ally on this mission.

(In a cloud of purple smoke, another bear appears. Both bears approach a bank as a pair of robbers run out of it. The duo grab the robbers and pin them to the ground as the Miraculous heroes arrive.)

LADYBUG: Well done.

(The robbers are escorted into a police car and taken away. Now, in her room, Marinette climbs the stairs to her bed.)

MARINETTE: I’m just happy with where our lives are now. I went from normal girl with a normal life to class representative to hated in my class to global hero.

(She eyes her bulletin board full of photos of her friends.)

MARINETTE: Besides, as long as I have my friends by my side, what can go wrong?

(Marinette turns off the light above her bed, and she and Tikki go to sleep. Fade to black, ending the story. A message appears.)

In Loving Memory of Philece Sampler 1953 - 2021

It's been 7 years since Yuko Mizutani passed away, and yet whenever I watch the OG Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02, it sometimes hurts to hear Sora talk, specifically because I know that Yuko is gone. 😢 She's still deeply missed. And I just love this fanart of Sora gaining angel wings while Taichi (her best friend) and Yamato (her future husband) gently push her towards Heaven.

And, since Yuko died from breast cancer in 2016...

And Toshiko Fujita (the original voice actress for Taichi Yagami in Adventure, Adventure 02, and Xros Wars) also died from breast cancer in 2018...

And Kouji Wada (the singer who performed all of the opening theme songs and some of the closing theme songs and insert songs for Adventure, Adventure 02, Tamers, Frontier, Savers, Xros Wars, and Adventure Tri) died from nasopharynx cancer in 2016, a month before Yuko...

And Takanori Arisawa (the music composer for Adventure, Adventure 02, Tamers, and Frontier) died from bladder cancer in 2005...

All I can say is: FUCK CANCER.

Additionally, since I first started watching Digimon via the English dub, years before I had access to the original Japanese version, I personally want to acknowledge and commemorate the staff members of the English dub who have also passed away:

Paul Gordon (the music composer for the English dub of Adventure, Adventure 02, and Tamers) died from heart disease/heart failure in 2016.

Bob Papenbrook (who played various voice roles for the English dub of Adventure, Adventure 02, Tamers, and Frontier) died from chronic lung problems in 2006.

Mike Reynolds (the original English dub voice actor for Old Gennai in Adventure and Adventure 02, as well as a screenwriter for a few episodes of Adventure) died from undisclosed circumstances in 2022 (although, considering he was 92 when he passed away, it was most likely due to natural causes/old age).

Philece Sampler (the original English dub voice actress for Mimi Tachikawa and Iori Hida in Adventure, Adventure 02, and Adventure Tri, as well as a few smaller roles in Tamers, Frontier, and Savers, such as Alice McCoy and Nanami) died from a heart attack in 2021.

Robert Axelrod (the original English dub voice actor for Wizarmon and Armadimon in Adventure and Adventure 02) died from long-term complications from spinal surgery in 2019.

Michael Lindsay (the original English dub voice actor for Jou Kido and Greymon in Adventure and Adventure 02, as well as Gottsumon in Savers) died from undisclosed circumstances in 2019.

Happy late 70th posthumous birthday, Philece Sampler (July 16th, 1953 - July 1, 2021)

Today, or rather Yesterday, would've been Philece Sampler's 70th birthday had it not been for her heart attack-induced death 2 years prior on July 1st, 2021. Here's a list of her recognizable roles (most of which were replaced after her passing):

While I like the English V.A. for Mimi in Digimon Adventure:, no one will ever replace Philece as the V.A. for the original Mimi from Digimon Adventure, 02, and Tri, among her other anime V.A. roles, in Digimon and other anime. Thank you, Philece. Rest In Peace.

So... how do Cody and Yolei sound in the re-dub?

Since those two had to be recast due to Philece Samplers death and Tifanie Christun just kinda vanishing off the face of the Earth.

They (and Mimi, also originally played by Philece Sampler) are pretty good, actually. The Redub did a great job finding soundalikes to play those characters. I actually hadn't realized until you brought it up that Cody and Yolei also had to be recast.

(Though I did know about Mimi. I heard about the tragic passing of Sampler; I just didn't realize she was also Cody.)

In fact, they actually sound better than Davis does at times. His voice is rough and scratchy at the best of times, and now his actor is twenty years older and having to go back and do this performance that I am sure must be throat-destroying. And you can hear his performance cracking at times.

I know you said you had a pretty good voice for Sagetooth already, but I finally realized who's voice I imagine in my head when reading her lines- Philece Sampler as Toph in Legend of Korra! Nobody can compete with that grouchiness.

Actually, I had Lin Beifong on my list of possible Sagetooth voices, she's just a little too refined. I've been trying to find other good roles from Mindy Sterling cause she might be perfect but its hard to search for them all. Right now I think some version of Mindy Sterling is probably the best fit for Sagetooth. Just gotta find the right one.

If that's the case, I might switch Wendi Malick to Sunstar, this time as Eda the Owl lady. I forget sometimes that Sunstar was as old as Smokyrose when she died haha. I feel like she's got the confidence and can be pretty badass while still feeling warm and a little awkward.

What do you think of Joe J Thomas?

He did Deen, Bantu and Tibarn!

Aww man… I LIKE Joe’s acting, I do. But… I feel like he’s lost some of his touch recently. I don’t know if it’s FEH’s infamous voice directing or if it’s just him getting older. But I’ll address it in the review. Like you mentioned, he plays Tibarn, Deen, and Bantu.

Performance-wise, he started off strong. Tibarn had a pretty hardy voice, and he brought a good energy to him, especially in his crits. And Bantu, being an old man, has that perfect “shaky elder” voice, patient and kind, but also that hidden wrath in his criticals. These two were really great performances and I was pretty happy with them. But then… we got Pirate Tibarn. And while the voice sounds the same, something about the energy seemed… off. He sounded kind of lower energy. And then we got Deen. And yes, I know Deen is more reserved and less expressive, but something about Joe’s voice in the crits sounded like he was really trying to force the energy in his crit quotes. Especially his “Playtime’s over!” and “Learn to fight!” lines, you can almost hear the cracks in his effort to shout those lines. Again, it COULD be the voice directing FEH is notorious for. But if we get base unit Deen and it sounds the same, it might just be him.

I think his voice still fits Tibarn and Bantu, but his voice for Deen is… kind of slipping, in my opinion. If FEH retired Lani Minella as Mia (and I STILL don’t know why, Lani is still actively acting and there’s a lot of older actors who are still voicing their characters, especially when Philece Sampler was around or older than Lani when she played Mia), then Deen might have to go through the same. I just don’t know who would be a good pick though.

That being said, I think his range is ok-ish. Tibarn and Deen sound pretty similar to each other, but Bantu is decently different from the two.

Overall… I might have to put Joe at a 7/10. Let’s wait until we get base unit Deen though.

It really is unfortunate. Same thing with Joe's voice actor. Honestly part of me had forgotten that Philece Sampler passed. I spent a good portion of today approaching this like "I guess her schedule couldn't allow for it". I think I legit pushed that shit out of my mind.
