While my family & I are on “staycation”, this has been the week to reset and return to my artistic roots!! I created two photo note cards for two clients that I wrote features on for work. Inside the cards were photos and news clippings I sent back to my clients! And getting into Halloween season, I finally painted the wooden Jack-O-Lantern I got at the Dollar Tree some time ago and hung it in a window!! #SundayArtDay: Yesterday afternoon (2/20/2021), I met up with my good friend, Jen Jenny, to give her this special present & more at her art studio!! I made this special business sign to help her further promote her alter ego, “Mermaid Jazzy” @mermaidjazzy. I splatter painted the wooden board (from Wal-Mart), painted the mermaid to look like Jenny (from Walmart), jazzed up her business name (letters from Michael’s), and chose two of my photos from the photo shoot to be used for the project!! Jenny was super surprised to receive this gift that she almost teared up!! I feel blessed to make this for her and I’m happy that she can use it to promote her business!! These photographs imply that this, somehow, is her flowers’ authentic identity – that some essential quality is preserved through their death and resurrection. Moved by the simple, unadulterated beauty of nature, Zinchik cites Monet’s waterlilies as a large influence for her work. The viewer will also be reminded of the keen, scientific eye of Weston and the vibrancy of O’Keefe, but by locating her subjects at a distance, and under a frigid distortion of ice, these experiences become specifically located in a decidedly different climate.
