Dr. Thomas Bond was instrumental in helping Scotland Yard profile Jack the Ripper in the original case of the Canonical Five. Some of his findings were as follows: 1. All five murders were committed by the same hand. 2. The women were lying down when murdered, and, in every case, the throat was cut first. 3. There is no evidence evidence of a struggle. The attacks were probably so sudden and made in such a position that the women could neither resist nor cry out. 4. In all the murders, the objective was mutilation. 5. The killer had no scientific or anatomical knowledge. 6. The instrument used was a straight knife at least six inches long, very sharp, pointed at the top and about an inch in width. 7. The murderer is a man of physical strength and of great coolness and daring. There is no evidence that he had an accomplice. 8. He is subject to periodical attacks of homicidal and erotic mania. 9. The murderer is likely to be a quiet, inoffensive-looking man, probably middle-aged and neatly dressed. Bond returns in the historical detective mystery The Ripper Lives, which is a sequel to the original case.

Darkness Visible by M. R. Carey
BOOKERS TAKE Most of my life, I’ve had a love of good Urban Fantasy. One thing good Urban Fantasy does well is discuss the role of police in Justice. I still remember when I was thirteen, reading about Karin Murphy arresting Harry Dresden in Fool Moon and saying, “Okay, well, she’s just being a good cop.” I think of that now and smirk. What would eighteen year old me think? Twenty-five?…

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent – Staffel 1: Ein neuer Krimi-Hit aus Kanada! 🌆🕵️

38-Year-Old Suspect Identified in Tulsa Standoff Tragedy
In a tense, hours-long standoff last Friday in north Tulsa, tragedy unfolded as police shot and killed 38-year-old Gerardo Almazan.
The incident began with reports of an armed robbery near Pine and Sheridan, where Almazan allegedly threatened a 14-year-old with a semi-automatic pistol to steal the teen's cellphone. When officers arrived, Almazan retreated into the house, refusing to comply with their commands and initiating a lockdown of the entire street.
The standoff ended in violence as Almazan emerged with a pistol, prompting officers to fire. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Authorities confirmed that the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
This event has left the community shaken, with questions and conversations arising about public safety, mental health, and police procedures in high-stakes situations.
What are your thoughts on incidents like these and their broader implications for our communities? Let’s have a thoughtful conversation.

Vinod v. State of NCT Delhi
WP 2029/2024
Before the High Court of Delhi
Heard by Hon'ble Madam Justice Pratibha M Singh J & Hon'ble Mr. Justice Amit Sharma J
Fact
The petitioner, Vinod, filed a writ petition for a writ of habeas corpus to trace his missing minor daughter, who went missing on 19th February 2024. Despite his immediate complaint, the police delayed action, suspecting a common scenario of the child returning within 24 hours.
Legal Issue
Whether the police's 24-hour waiting period policy before initiating an investigation into a missing child case is justified, and if it violates the urgency required in such cases.
Point of Argument
The petitioner argued that the police's delay in registering an FIR and starting the investigation immediately upon the report of his missing daughter hindered the chances of quickly locating and rescuing her.
The petitioner pointed to a previous incident where the suspect was the same, Shahnoor, which also increased the urgency of the matter.
Courts Observation
The court observed that the police's 24-hour waiting period policy for investigating missing children cases is inappropriate and potentially harmful.
The court emphasized the critical importance of the initial hours in tracing missing children and referenced relevant Standard Operating Procedure that mandate immediate action.

The Cincinnati Police Department in Ohio released bodycam footage showing a suspect allegedly striking an officer in the face with a metal pipe. Officers received a 911 call about an alleged robbery that the man was a prime suspect for. Injured officer, Johnny Harris, arrived on the scene while an officer was already engaging the suspect. The suspect allegedly struck the officer when another officer used a taser on him. The man was arrested and charged with numerous felonies including assault and robbery. Officer Harris suffered several facial bone fractures and will need reconstructive surgery, police say.
