been rewatching and reabsorbing a lotta X-Men stuff recently and once again remembering how its always been allegorical of many civil issues, namely LGBTQ+ struggles
do you think thats why it has a more varied fan following than say The Avengers? (or any other surface level super hero team)
or would you just say "they're cooler and better written" is why you specifically like them
not to have this question come off as "do you like them because you're gay" lmao
It's a mix of both for sure. The political allegory has always been messy and will never fit real life issues 1:1, but when it's written well that resonance tends to be what makes me really connect with my favorite X-Men stories, particularly X-Men '97 in recent memory. It makes the X-Men the relatable underdogs you wanna root for and gives their conflicts more meaning beyond the fun superhero adventure elements. The series has also always had a lot of great female heroes and villains going back to the Claremont days, and I don't think that can be understated. I'll pick Storm, Rogue, and Mystique over Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, and Black Widow any day, no contest. These factors all lend themselves to giving the X-Men a more diverse fanbase
In terms of raw quality, though, it's also worth pointing out that the X-Men were just... created to be a team from the start? With some exceptions like Wolverine, most of them were created to be a part of that ensemble cast and fit into that group dynamic, compared to the Avengers who are just a hodgepodge of heroes from other series who team up sometimes. New X-Men are created specifically to bring something new to the perpetual soap opera drama of the series and to the roster of powers on the team. Their stories are intertwined in a way that you can't always do on a crossover team. You're rarely gonna see the most important Black Panther stories in The Avengers. The most important relationships in Peter Parker's life are not with his allies in The Avengers. You can be a fan of those characters and completely ignore The Avengers!
But also yes they do just have cool powers and costumes and also they're in more '90s Capcom fighting games with sick sprite art lol

Two different theropods at extreme ends of the size scale drinking together at a pond 97 million years ago in what is now the Candeleros Formation of Patagonia, Argentina: the small, 1.5-meter-long unelagine dromaeosaur Buitreraptor gonzalezorum, which was a fast, agile predator of arthropods, lizards and small mammals, and the enormous 13-meter-long carcharodontosaurid allosauroid Giganotosaurus carolini, a heavily-built ambush hunter which was big enough to prey upon large sauropods such as Andesaurus and Limaysaurus and intimidate its 7 to 8-meter-long abelisaur rival Ekrixinatosaurus. Much like Tyrannosaurus, its future ecological counterpart from North America, Giganotosaurus could also potentially use the thick bosses that adorned its massive head, which completely dwarfed Buitreraptor’s body size, to deliver powerful striking blows to knock out its quarry or to engage each other in intraspecific head or flank-butting contests over territory or mates.

Tournament Tuesday, Week 3 Wrapped
Week 3 saw 8 more contestants eliminated, with two very close matches, five comfortable victories, and one absolute thrashing.
Grim narrowly lost out to Shovel Knight, while Mr Bean’s silliness overcame Shego’s badass powers.
Meanwhile, Apollo, Kronk, Ugandan Knuckles, Yoshi and The Iron Giant all posted similar results against Casper, Tsubaki, Hans Moleman, Doug Dimmadome and Foghorn Leghorn respectively, with roughly 65% of the votes.
But then there was Ebony. Boasting an incredible 97% of the votes, she flips the bird at the defeated Mark Zuckerberg, and has the most one sided result do date, sliding comfortably into the 90/10 club.
The winners will face off against each other in Week 6, alongside the winners of Week 4. Those Fites are;
Kronk vs Shovel Knight
Ebony Dark’ness Dementia Raven Way vs Mr Bean
Ugandan Knuckles vs Yoshi
The Iron Giant vs Apollo
Week 4 is active now, and while voting isn’t obligatory, your support is always appreciated. Fite the good Fite, folks. \o/

ROUND 1 ANALYSIS: THE #JUPITERSWEEP PHENOMENON
round one of the poke admin showdown is now over and several interesting things happened so i wanted to make an analysis post to. analyse them. because i like looking at numbers
first of all, we have to address the most popular poll of round one. with 111 votes at time of writing, jupiter vs zinzolin is our most voted-in poll by a landslide.
zinzolin never stood a chance. there was a significant period of time where he had exactly one vote and i think that's really funny. meanwhile, known girlboss jupiter has garnered more votes than anyone else in the poll. i want to examine why this happened.
my theory is threefold: part one is that i do not think zinzolin is particularly well-loved by the tumblr community - presumably there are some zinzolin enjoyers out there, as he has 7% of votes (more than a fair few others who are getting swept!), but they're definitely in the minority here.
part two is that it's just kind of a funny matchup. very cool galactic commander jupiter, who i believe is quite beloved, next to. well. zinzolin. you have to admit he is wearing very silly clothes and does some very silly things in the game. of course jupiter wins here, in both the popularity contest and in who would actually win in a fistfight because zinzolin is going nowhere fast in those garments and jupiter is i think probably one of the most likely opponents to just punch a guy directly in the face
this leads into part three: because it's a funny matchup, people picked it up and started sharing it around more, which meant more votes, which made it get funnier, which meant more reblogs, and so the cycle continues. #jupitersweep is powered, at least in part, by the Bit, and i think that's very respectable.
WITH THAT ASIDE !! there are some other things i've noted about round one that i think are interesting
firstly: two entire teams have been eliminated in this first round. the first is the aether foundation, with two representatives: faba and wicke (the latter of which put up a very good fight, which i'll talk about in a minute). the second is team flare, with all five representatives taken out, and two of those (xerosic and aliana) getting severely swept.
the common denominator here is that all of these people are some variety of scientist, and almost all of them have some sort of silly outfit that would be hard to move in. (xerosic specifically is wearing at least somewhat moveable clothes, but this is not going to help him against oleana. sorry.)
the closest fight was proton vs wicke, at 53/47%. this is very interesting to me, as wicke was one of the lowest seeded in the bracket due to her loving personality (i don't think she'd want to punch someone) and remarkably silly outfit (i am a big wicke fan but she's wearing hell garments and you can't tell me those boots are remotely easy to walk in). the second closest fight also involved a rocket executive (petrel vs bryony) and i think that's an interesting pattern
the most one-sided poll, is, interestingly enough, not jupiter vs zinzolin. it's actually courtney vs aliana, with courtney winning at a very impressive 97%. i don't have too much to say about this, i mostly just think it's funny, and i try not to be biased on this blog but you've probably seen this blog's banner. i like it when courtney. i think it's very fitting that she swept so hard.
and now, some funny tags!

@thecatlounge asked: I just read that ask about Vlad that you did and was wondering if you had any thoughts about Jack and Maddie. They have clear love for there kids and when they know they are in danger they will drop everything for them, but they also don't notice when there is somthing wrong going on. Valerie would be another good one, though I think that she mostly framed around how whe is manipulated by others (like Vlad).
(the Vlad ask)
So, I have quite a few thoughts on Maddie and Jack, and they’re probably some of the most complex.
I’ve talked about this before but one of the quirks/ bugs/ features of Danny Phantom’s tumultuous production and at-times-contradictory canon is that there can be multiple disparate readings that are all somewhat supported. And no more is this true than for the (nominally) good Doctors Fenton.
Let’s talk about the meta-side first because it’s kind of fascinating.

Decided to update the original FFN-style ‘book cover’ art for my fanfic Young Justice: Deathly Weapons.
It’s fun to see how the visual identity of this fic has evolved from when I first came up with and posted the initial idea (right) to now (left) that it has a fully-detailed plan that’s developed a vibe of its own.
[Art pieces inside the background-portals can be seen here and here. Teaser summary for upcoming “episodes” here.]

@kaiobeast asked: So, in YJDW, Danny is still very much a solo-hero type. I imagine that's going to potentially cause some issues down the road, both with learning how to work as an equal with other supers and bonding with them since his own hero development is so different from the Team's. No mentor, the discomfort that the nature of his powers can cause, the mixed history he DOES have that's public knowledge, and the lack of real exposure to the rest of the superhero sphere of influence.
(Young Justice: Deathly Weapons)
So this is interesting because you're completely right; those are things that should complicate Danny's interactions (and potential integration) with established heroes and hero teams.
However, the specifics of Danny's circumstances and road to joining the Team in Deathly Weapons kind of alleviate or sidestep a lot of those potential issues. At cost of giving him a new catalogue of complexes to deal with but beggars can't be choosers.

I don’t have many strong thoughts about Danny x Kaldur outside of it being a rarepair crossover crackship with the potential to be cute.
However,
Deeply Disappointed that the ship name isn’t Sleeping With the Fishes.

My #1 post of 2022
@kaiobeast asked: So, I've noticed that DP fans and authors have a sliding scale for Vlad. They vary from "haha look at poor little meow meow who fails at everything" to "Vlad is an absolute psycho and the Fenton parents are criminally negligent for allowing him near their kids". I'm very curious as to how you view Vlad and his relationship with Danny because that variance is so huge, and since it kind of slides between the two in canon as well.
Ah, Vlad. Perpetual runner-up of Dracula lookalike contests, consistent bronze medallist in the race for most-culturally-relevant-Vladimir, and called by the internet everything from Psychopath to Meow Meow to I regretfully inform you Daddy.
One of the things that makes interpretations of Danny Phantom characters more fluid/variable than others is that (as you said) canon can be rather slide-y at times - something which lends itself to multiple quasi-canonical potential readings. I think I’ve mentioned before that for me this means I have a bit of an annoying tendency to change my headcanons depending on what best facilitates a given story concept, rather than being wedded to One True Version™.
That said, Vlad is probably the major-character who I have the most consistent read on.

Malaysia faces hung parliament for first time in history
Malaysia is facing a hung parliament for the first time in its political history, after a divisive, tightly-contested general election left major parties unable to secure enough votes to form a new government.
The result has thrust the Southeast Asian country into fresh political turmoil, as rival leaders scramble to broaden collations in renewed efforts to form a clear majority. Whoever wins will become Malaysia’s fourth prime minister in as many years, as the country grapples with rising inflation and a cost of living crisis.
With all but one parliamentary seat declared Sunday morning, veteran opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim’s multi-ethnic Pakatan Harapan coalition was ahead, having secured 82 seats from a possible 220, according to results from the country’s Election Commission.
Close behind is former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin’s Malay-based Perikatan Nasional, or National Alliance, with 73 seats. Muhyiddin’s group includes an Islamist party that has openly backed shariah or Islamic law.
But in the biggest upset of the night, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, made up of center right political parties including the dominant United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), suffered a stunning defeat – winning just 30 seats.
Officials from UMNO, which ruled Malaysia for more than six decades following its independence from Britain, previously told CNN the party had “a lot of work” to do and did not want to go backwards.
Ad Feedback
Once indomitable figures were also thrust out. The country’s former prime minister, 97-year-old Mahathir Mohamad suffered defeat for the first time in 53 years, losing his seat in the Langkawi island constituency.
The lack of a clear winner in Saturday’s election now presents the possibility Malaysia’s King could become involved, with the constitution granting the monarch power to determine who has the majority in parliament.
Malaysia is braced for major floods. So why is it holding an election?
Both leading candidates declared victory on Sunday, despite results showing neither has enough votes to form a government.
In a late night speech to supporters Saturday, Anwar claimed he had enough support from members of parliament to form a government and would detail his support in a letter to the King. Muhyiddin also told his supporters he was in discussions with leaders of the Sabah and Sarawak political parties to also form a coalition.
Since 2015, Malaysian politics has been overshadowed by the 1MDB corruption scandal, which saw billions of dollars of taxpayers money embezzled out of the country. It brought down former prime minister, Najib Razak, who is now serving a 12-year prison sentence for corruption.
Ahead of the polls, many voters expressed a strong desire to end years of political instability. And on Saturday, voters headed to polls in huge numbers, with state media estimating turnout to be 73.89% – despite heavy rains and flooding which hindered campaigning across half of the country in recent weeks.
Anwar the survivor
If Anwar is able to secure a coalition with enough votes to form a government, it would represent a remarkable comeback for the veteran politician, who was imprisoned for sodomy and released in 2018.
Anwar made his name as a student activist in various Muslim youth groups in Kuala Lumpur in the late 1960s, as the country reeled from the protracted Communist insurgency of the Malayan Emergency.
Arrested in 1974 in student protests against rural poverty, Anwar was sentenced to 20 months in jail. Despite his firebrand reputation, he later confounded liberal supporters in 1982 by joining the conservative United Malays National Organization (UMNO) led by Mahathir.
The freed politician was the heir apparent to then-premier Mahathir until 1998, when he was sacked and charged for corruption and sodomy. He was found guilty the following year, a ruling that led to mass street demonstrations.
The sodomy conviction was overturned, but the corruption verdict was never lifted, barring him from running for political post until a decade later.
In 2008, once his ban on political participation was lifted, he was hit with further sodomy charges.
Following an appeal of the acquittal of those charges he was convicted again and jailed in 2015. Human rights groups were highly critical when the conviction was upheld, calling it politically motivated – a claim the government denied.
Anwar was released three years later, immediately joining with one time political opponent Mahathir to oust the ruling Barisan party for the first time in Malaysia’s history. The success, however, was short lived, with the coalition collapsing after less than two years in power.

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk LIVE RESULTS: Latest main card updates from Riyadh ring walk time TV channel
Early recap from SunSport’s Wally Downes Jr
Isaac Lowe – the pocket-pest friend of Tyson Fury opened the Riyadh show with a trademark points win over Hasibullah Ahmadi.
The Westgate Warrior dropped his opponent in round eight and won with the referee’s card of 97-92.
Daniel Lapin, the beanpole training partner of Oleksandr Usyk also had his hand raised – winning in the very first round of a largely pointless contest.
The gangly light-heavy whacked the oxygen out of Octavio Pudivitr before the ‘contest’ even got going.
And David ‘Nice Guy’ Nyika needed four rounds to finish German cruiserweight rival Michael Seltz.
His PG nickname won’t win him any fights but his height, speed and power will help him race up the rankings.
Handsome lad too, and I should know.

Nelson predicts Fury may retire
Johnny Nelson MBE has told BetVictor he believes Tyson Fury could quit boxing if he’s beaten by Oleksandr Usyk.
“If it’s a bad, devastating loss, Tyson Fury walks away,” he said.
“Tyson is an emotional animal. A bad loss to Oleksandr Usyk will destroy Tyson.
“Tyson is the boss of his team. Frank Warren doesn’t tell Tyson what to do.
“He has made a lot of money, but he’ll be frustrated with himself if he loses to Usyk on Saturday night. It will break him, it will break his heart.”
Fury’s tactics
Has Tyson Fury revealed how he’s going to beat Oleksandr Usyk?
He revealed:
It’s our destiny. They didn’t have the opportunity, we do. All we have to do now is dance.
“I look forward to the challenge. I can outbox him, I’m a very good boxer, but I don’t really use it anymore. I can do the same [as I did vs Klitschko] to him.”

X-Men '97 Showrunner Beau DeMayo Fired
Attention, fellow mutants and curious onlookers! We’ve got some intriguing news hotter than a Phoenix Force tantrum. Brace yourselves, because the mastermind behind Disney+'s animated series “X-Men '97,” Beau DeMayo, has been let go. Yes, you heard it right: DeMayo’s exit is more mysterious than Mystique’s true form. But why? Was it a mutant feud? A cosmic alignment? Or did he accidentally spill coffee on Professor X’s Cerebro? Let’s dive into this drama like Nightcrawler into a teleportation frenzy.
He’d just wrapped up Seasons 1 and 2 of “X-Men '97,” high-fiving Cyclops and sharing secret mutant handshakes. But then *poof!* he vanished like a stealthy Shadowcat. No Hollywood premiere for him. His Instagram? Deleted. It’s like he stepped into a time portal (or maybe just took a vacation to the Savage Land).
Why the sudden exit? Did he accidentally turn Beast’s fur pink during a script meeting? Or maybe he tried to replace Wolverine’s claws with baguette slices (because every mutant needs a snack). The truth is shrouded in more mystery than Jean Grey’s Phoenix saga. Some say he challenged Gambit to a card-throwing contest. Others claim he accidentally summoned Mojo from another dimension. Either way, it’s a mutant-sized enigma.
Beyond “X-Men '97,” DeMayo’s been weaving spells across the Marvel universe. Remember “Moon Knight”? Yep, that’s his handiwork, starring Oscar Isaac as the moon’s brooding BFF. And hold onto your vibranium shields: DeMayo’s scripting “Blade,” with Mahershala Ali as the vampire-slaying daywalker. But wait, there’s more! He’s dipped his quill into “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” Netflix’s “The Witcher” (Henry Cavill in leather armor: hubba hubba), and even animated “League of Legends” shorts. The guy’s busier than Deadpool at a chimichanga buffet.
Now, let’s talk about “X-Men '97.” The OG mutants are back, folks! Professor Charles Xavier is allegedly pushing up daisies. But guess who’s got his last will and testament? Magneto, the master of metal manipulation. What’s in there? A recipe for mutant enchiladas? A playlist titled “Telepathic Grooves”? Nah, it’s probably just a note: “Dear Magneto, water my bonsai tree and keep your helmet out of my fridge.”
Who’s suiting up for this nostalgia trip? Wolverine’s sharpening his claws, Cyclops is recalibrating his optic blasts, and Jean Grey’s practicing her telekinesis (no broken vases this time). Storm’s checking the weather forecast (spoiler: thunderstorms), and Jubilee’s perfecting her fireworks show. Beast is reading Shakespeare to the Danger Room, Gambit’s dealing cards like a mutant croupier, and Morph…well, Morph’s just being Morph. Bishop’s flexing his biceps, and Professor X? He’s either sipping cosmic tea or playing chess with Death herself.
So, whether DeMayo’s exit was a cosmic hiccup or a mutant conspiracy, “X-Men '97” promises more drama than Magneto’s helmet collection. Tune in, grab your mutant snacks, and remember: When life gives you adamantium, make metaphorical pancakes. And when life fires your showrunner, just blame it on Mojo. He’s used to taking the fall.
Stay mutant, stay marvelous, and may your mutant powers never glitch during a crucial battle. Excelsior!

Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies Swap Lance Stephenson and Jeff Green
On February 18th, 2016, the Los Angeles Clippers traded guard-forward Lance Stephenson and a 2019 first round draft pick (Matisse Thybulle) to the Memphis Grizzlies for forward Jeff Green.
The Memphis Grizzlies were always in search of a wing. The team had a trusted trio in center Marc Gasol, point guard Mike Conley and power forward Zach Randolph. But the team always seemed to lack a small forward that could space the floor, score and defend.
Looking to add talent, the Grizzlies acquired forward Jeff Green from the Boston Celtics in a three-team deal also involving the New Orleans Pelicans. The hope was that he could fill in that role as a scorer on the wing.
Green played 45 games after being traded to Memphis. He managed 13.1 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 1.8 APG, 0.6 SPG and 0.5 BPG in 30.2 MPG. Green quickly became a starter after coming off the bench initially. The Grizzlies continued to win after acquiring Green, taking 15 of the next 18 games to reach 41-14. Memphis was one of the top teams in the NBA, finishing the season with a 55-27 record.
In the 2015 playoffs, Memphis was in fifth place and battled the fourth seed Portland Trail Blazers. The Grizzlies had homecourt advantage because they had a better overall record than the Blazers (51-31).
Portland had numerous injuries going into the playoffs. Starting two guard Wesley Matthews was out for the season after rupturing his achilles tendon in early March. Trade deadline acquisition Arron Afflalo had a shoulder injury and stars LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum had thumb and wrist ailments respectively.
The Grizzlies had an early double digit lead in the first quarter of Game One and led by as much as 29 points in a 100-86 win. Game Two saw Memphis hold the Blazers to 39% shooting in an easy 97-82 victory.
In the third contest, the Grizzlies continued to have control. Memphis led by double digits for most of the game, including 14 points late in the third quarter. Portland brought the deficit down to three points late in the fourth, but Memphis held on for a 115-109 win.
The Grizzlies took a 3-0 series lead but suffered misfortune when point guard Mike Conley had a facial fracture near his left eye in the game. He would miss the rest of the first round.
Memphis was headed to a sweep after taking a ten-point lead with 8:48 left in the fourth quarter of Game Four. Portland recovered, going on a 29-12 run to take the game 99-92 and avoid a sweep. In Game Five, the duo of Gasol and Courtney Lee combined for 46 points as Memphis won 99-93. In the five-game matchup, Green struggled, shooting 26.9% while averaging 9.2 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 1.6 APG and 0.8 BPG in 25.3 MPG.
The Grizzlies battled the number one seed Golden State Warriors in the next round. With Conley still out at the start of the series, Golden State took Game One easily 101-86. Conley returned for Game Two. He had 22 points as Memphis evened the series 1-1 with a 97-90 victory.
In Memphis, the Grizzlies got a combined 43 points and 23 rebounds from Randolph and Gasol in Game Three. They led for much of the game, winning 99-89.
Facing a 2-1 series deficit and MVP Stephen Curry struggling from the field, the Warriors regrouped, making an adjustment. Golden State had center Andrew Bogut defend guard and limited shooter Tony Allen. The move gummed up Memphis' offense, clogging the paint.
Curry had 33 points in Game Four as Golden State won in a 101-84 rout. The Warriors led by 17 points after three quarters in Game Five and held on for a 98-78 win. Curry had 32 points and 10 assists in Game Six as Golden State cruised to a 108-95 victory, eliminating the Grizzlies in six games. During the second round loss, Green managed just 8.7 PPG on 39.3% from the field, 4.0 RPG, 1.8 APG and 0.5 SPG in 28.6 MPG.
After Memphis' second round loss, the club added forward Matt Barnes in an offseason trade with the Charlotte Hornets. The Grizzlies also added center Brandan Wright as a free agent. Green had a chance to test free agency but exercised his $9.2 million player option to stay in Memphis.
The Grizzlies had a rough start to the 2015-16 season, dropping the season opener to the Cleveland Cavaliers by 30 points. Then, there was the 119-69 drubbing at the hands of the Golden State Warriors three games later.
The Grizzlies were just 3-6 after nine games but won 8 of the next 10 to rise to 11-8. Memphis hovered around .500 for much of the next month and a half before a 12-4 stretch brought the team to 31-22 at the All-Star break. Around that time, center Marc Gasol suffered a fractured right foot which would keep him out for the rest of the season.
With the 2016 offseason looming, the Grizzlies knew two key free agents in Courtney Lee and Green would be hard to re-sign. Instead of facing the prospect of losing both players, the Grizzlies dealt Lee to the Charlotte Hornets on February 16 and subsequently sent Green to the Los Angeles Clippers at the trade deadline buzzer on February 18.
Green was in and out of the Memphis starting lineup during 2015-16. The forward played in 53 games (31 starts), compiling 12.2 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 1.8 APG and 0.8 SPG in 29.1 MPG.
Green continued his routine of enticing teams with jaw-dropping athleticism and scoring ability but in the same breath frustrating them with below average three-point shooting and inconsistent play. His lack of outward passion frustrated teammates on the Grizzlies.
Memphis had a better net rating when Green was off the floor versus when he was on in both seasons. But still, Green did have his moments like a game-winner against the Phoenix Suns in December 2015.
In 98 games with the Grizzlies, Green contributed 12.6 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 1.8 APG and 0.7 SPG. In that time, the forward shot 43% from the field, 34% from the three-point line and 81% from the free-throw line.
Lance Stephenson joined the Los Angeles Clippers when he was acquired in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets for Matt Barnes and Spencer Hawes.
Stephenson was coming off a disappointing season in Charlotte. It was the first season of a brand new three-year, $27 million deal with a team option in the final year. Stephenson failed to blend in with Hornets star Kemba Walker on offense and struggled.
With the Clippers, there was hope for him to resuscitate his career as a defender who could bring extra ball-handling and toughness to the Clippers rotation. If not, the Clippers could cut bait and move on.
Stephenson's acquisition was a piece of a Clippers retool around the edges. Core pieces like Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul remained, but the Clippers tried to shore up the supporting cast. The team signed forward Josh Smith and guard Pablo Prigioni from the Houston Rockets. It also re-signed guard Austin Rivers and agreed to deals with Paul Pierce, Wesley Johnson and Cole Aldrich.
Initially, Stephenson started at small forward for the first nine games, but his minutes eventually started to wildly fluctuate. First, he played just one minute and 42 seconds in a win against the Detroit Pistons despite the Clippers playing without starting backcourt players Chris Paul and JJ Redick.
Stephenson then received a DNP-coach's decision from head coach Doc Rivers the next game against the Golden State Warriors. He played just under 19 minutes of action as a starter against Portland the next game. That would be his last start as a Clipper.
His minutes continued to fluctuate and he largely struggled with the Clippers, registering just 4.7 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 1.4 APG and 0.7 SPG in 43 contests and 15.8 MPG before he was traded at the 2016 trade deadline. The Clippers were 35-18 when they decided to trade Stephenson.
The deal happened minutes before the trade deadline, with Memphis and the Clippers swapping Green and Stephenson. The Clippers also sent Memphis a protected first round pick.
After the trade, Green joined a Clippers team missing a star forward Blake Griffin. The All-Star was out with a partially torn left quad and a fractured hand. Green was set to help add depth to the frontcourt.
At 35-18 at the trade deadline, the Clippers went 18-11 the rest of the way to finish fourth in the West with a 53-29 record. Green appeared in 27 games (10 starts) and amassed 10.9 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 1.5 APG, 0.7 SPG and 0.9 BPG in 26.3 MPG.
Heading into the 2016 postseason, the Clippers were heavily favored in their first round matchup against the 44-38 Portland Trail Blazers. In the first game, Chris Paul had 28 points and 11 assists and Griffin had 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Clippers cruised to a 115-95 rout.
In Game Two, the Clippers bench outscored Portland's reserves 43-10 and pulled away in the fourth quarter to take a 2-0 series lead with a 102-81 victory. Neither team could make a shot from the three-point line in Game Three. Portland's duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum combined for 59 points and forward Mo Harkless had two late baskets to help Portland win 96-88.
Game Four changed the entire trajectory of the series and Los Angeles' season. In the third quarter, Paul broke his right hand swiping down at a Gerald Henderson drive. Soon after, Griffin re-aggravated his left quad ending his season prematurely.
Portland pulled away in the game, outscoring the Clippers 32-20 in the fourth quarter. Portland won 98-84. In the fifth game, McCollum had 27 points and Lillard scored 16 of his 22 points as Portland pulled away late to win 108-98.
Despite missing Paul and Griffin, and facing a 3-2 deficit, the Clippers hung tough in Game Six. Portland never took a double digit lead. Late in the game, Clippers guard Jamal Crawford tied the game 103-103 after making two free-throws with 32 seconds remaining.
On the next possession, McCollum missed a runner, but Blazers center Mason Plumlee was fouled on an offensive rebound by Green and the Clippers were in the penalty. He made both free-throws. Crawford missed a floater with two seconds left and Plumlee rebounded the miss and was fouled again.
The Blazers big man split a pair of free-throws, giving Portland a 106-103 lead with two seconds left. With no timeouts left, Paul Pierce inbounded the ball to Austin Rivers who missed a desperation three as Portland held on for the win and eliminated the Clippers 4-2.
In six playoff games with the Clippers, Green mustered 10.2 PPG on 45.7% from the field, 3.2 RPG, 0.7 APG and 1.0 SPG in 26.5 MPG. In the 2016 offseason, Green became an unrestricted free agent and left the Clippers, signing a one-year, $15 million deal with the Orlando Magic.
Stephenson was given more consistent playing time upon arriving in Memphis. Injuries befell the Grizzlies as center Marc Gasol remained out and point guard Mike Conley ended up missing most of the second half of the season with an achilles issue.
The Grizzlies limped to the regular season finish line, going 11-18 after the trade deadline to finish 42-40 and seventh in the West. Stephenson appeared in 26 games with the Grizzlies, managing 14.2 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.8 APG and 0.7 SPG in 26.6 MPG.
Memphis was decimated with injuries heading into its 2016 playoff run. With Conley and Gasol both out, the Grizzlies went into a difficult first round matchup with the 67-15 San Antonio Spurs.
Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard had 20 points and San Antonio used a 33-14 third quarter edge to put away the Grizzlies in a 106-74 rout. Game Two was similar. Memphis shot just 32.6% from the field and 13.3% from three in a 94-68 loss.
The series location shifted to Memphis. The Grizzlies had just 10 players available, but managed to have brief moments where they led. The Grizzlies won the second and third quarters after losing the first nine of the series. In the fourth quarter, both teams traded leads before the Spurs used a 7-0 run to gain control. Memphis stayed in the game but San Antonio hung on for a 96-87 victory.
In the fourth game, Leonard had 21 points and the Spurs put the game away with a 37-21 third quarter advantage. San Antonio won the game 116-95 and swept the Grizzlies in four games. In the four-game series, Stephenson was effective, averaging 13.0 PPG on 52.3% from the field, 1.5 RPG and 1.8 APG in 23.0 MPG. Stephenson had 26 points in the final game.
The Grizzlies declined Stephenson's $9.4 million team option for the 2016-17 season so they could free up some cap space in free agency. Stephenson became an unrestricted free agent and went on to sign a contract with the New Orleans Pelicans.
The first round pick the Clippers sent to Memphis was lottery-protected in 2019 and 2020. It would become a second round pick in 2022 if it was not conveyed in either of the first two years.
The rights to the pick were traded to the Boston Celtics for the 31st and 35th picks in the 2016 NBA Draft Deyonta Davis and Rade Zagorac. In 2019, the pick was 20th overall and Celtics selected forward Matisse Thybulle. On the same day, Boston traded Thybulle to the 76ers for the 24th pick (Ty Jerome) and 33rd pick (Carsen Edwards).
Jeff Green on joining the Clippers (via LA Times):
"I am going to a great situation. Having played two years with [head coach] Doc [Rivers] and knowing what he expects from his players is big."
On the Clippers roster:
"This is definitely a team with all the right pieces and a team that is going in the right direction. The only thing I want to do is win and that’s what it’s all about right now."
Lance Stephenson looking back at his most recent struggles with the Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers (via Memphis Commercial Appeal):
"Certain teams, you just don't fit in. I've definitely got something to prove. I just want to get back to my old self, get back to playing in a rotation and helping my teammates win. God is good, so wherever He guides me, I'm going to try my best to figure it out."
On joining the Grizzlies:
"On this team, you've just got to play hard and be in attack mode. You don't have to think too much, you've just got to play hard."
Memphis Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace on a busy trade deadline (via Memphis Commercial Appeal):
"The job of management is to straddle the line of getting the team to win in the short term and take care of the future. When you have as many unrestricted free agents as we did, you’re not going to be able to sign all of them. The idea was to get something without these guys being able to walk away for nothing."
Los Angeles Clippers president of basketball operations and head coach Doc Rivers on the trade (via ESPN):
"I really didn't know if the trade was done because I didn't want to look at my phone."
On Lance Stephenson:
"The guy was great, and guys really liked him. I was really happy with him as far as how he carried himself."
How he gave the go ahead on the trade ahead of a funeral service for Monty Williams' wife, Ingrid (via ESPN):
"I basically told Dave, 'Yes,' and walked in. "I really didn't know if the trade was done or not, because I didn't want to look at my phone. When the service was over I looked at my phone and saw that we had pulled a trade."
Clippers guard Jamal Crawford on the addition of Green (via LA Times):
"Jeff, with his size and athleticism, the way he slashes and can guard multiple positions. It definitely helps us."

Exit Polls analysis
The just concluded State Assembly Elections to Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan, and Telangana have thrown a confusing trend for analysts. Most of the exit pollsters are a confused lot along with most television channels. Tomorrow, 3rd December 2023 will tell how accurate these agencies & TV chanels who conducted the exit polls.
About 2 to 3 months back, no one expected BJP to make any kind of come back to power in Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Rajasthan was the only state, where BJP have a definite edge because they decided not to project former CM Vasundhara Raje as the Chief Ministerial candidate because of which they lost the 2018 elections to the state assembly.
On 30th November, 2023 Telangana went to polls, and which was the day when Exit poll results allowed. All the exit pollsters looked a confused lot. Their estimates clearly tell that they are not telling the truth or they are confused. Most of them put out a wide range for BJP and INC, two main contenders for power.
Chattisgarh is a closely contested election with INC having a decisive edge about a month back. As the second phase of the elections started, BJP seems to have caught up with them and now the final numbers will be so close that it is a close call for both parties. BJP will win around 39 seats (+/- 3) and INC 47 seats (+/_ 5).
In Madhya Pradesh, BJP initially was lagging behind. Once the election bugle was sounded Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan took the opposition party, INC head on and now they seem to be in the driver's seat. Here too the election is very closely contested. The final tally for BJP is around 120-126 seats and INC 97-103. The possibility of BJP ending with a higher tally is extremely high.
In Rajasthan, BJP will win 120 or more. Voters have decided to teach INC a lesson of their lifetime. INC may end up with 65-70 seats. Here BJP is getting a clear mandate.
Telangana BRS holds the key as they are in power and have a key ally in AIMIM who will not ditch them. INC has made big inroads into BRS's muslim vote bank. That is a worrying factor for AIMIM who has no influence outside Hyderabad. AIMIM will remain a 3% vote share party, not beyond it. BJP is a minor player who increased its vote share to 14% from 2018's 7%. This should worry BRS. If BRS wins 50-55 seats, then they have to reach out to BJP apart from AIMIM who is their traditional ally since the formation of Telangana state in 2013. Wondering how BJP & AIMIM will be part of the same alliance? Will AIMIM walk out of the alliance with BRS? Anything can happen.
In MP and Rajasthan, exit pollsters gave a wide range of 20-30 seats. That means either they are confused or they did not do their work diligently. In Mizoram, they have projected a 6 seats range for the local party in an assembly of 40 seats. That is ridiculous.
BJP will win Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, they will win hands down, and in Madhya Pradesh, it is a closely contested fight with BJP having a big edge now. Chattisgarh turned into a nail-biting contest; it can go either way. Telangana is also a closely contested election with BRS losing a lot but staking claim to power with the support of other two parties - AIMIM & BJP. INC gained a lot in this election, bringing them close to power in the state after 10 long years.

How to Use Social Media for Brand Awareness - Top 10 Tips
In the digital age, social media has emerged as an indispensable ally for businesses seeking to enhance brand awareness and bolster their revenue. Recent research from Sprout Social underscores this fact: a whopping 97% of consumers have made purchases from brands they follow on social media.
This statistic shines a spotlight on the immense potential of social media, not only as a means to increase brand visibility but also to drive tangible business results. In this comprehensive guide, we'll delve deep into ten essential strategies that will help you harness the power of social media to elevate brand awareness, connect with your target audience, and leave an indelible mark on your customers.
1. Choose the Right Social Media Platforms
Not all social media platforms are created equal. To make the most of social media for brand awareness, it's crucial to choose platforms that resonate with your target audience. This decision requires meticulous research and consideration of factors such as demographics, user behavior, and industry relevance.
2. Craft Engaging and Informative Content
High-quality content forms the backbone of a successful social media strategy. Your content should not merely capture attention but also offer real value and relevance to your audience. Share insights, tips, and solutions to captivate your audience's interest.
3. Utilize Relevant Hashtags
Hashtags are potent tools for expanding the reach of your social media posts. By incorporating relevant hashtags, you make your content more discoverable to a wider audience. Research popular and industry-specific hashtags to boost your post's visibility.
4. Foster Two-Way Communication
Social media is a dynamic, two-way channel of communication. Engage with your audience by responding to comments and questions promptly. Encourage discussions and take an active role in conversations related to your industry.
5. Organize Contests and Giveaways
Contests and giveaways are exceptional tools for generating excitement and engagement around your brand. These events can increase your followers and create a buzz about your products or services. Ensure the rules are clear, and the prizes are appealing.
6. Create Eye-Catching Visuals
Visual content reigns supreme on social media. Use striking images, videos, and infographics to convey your brand message effectively. Visuals are more likely to grab the audience's attention and be shared across social platforms.
7. Consistency Matters
Consistency is the thread that weaves your social media presence together. Develop a content calendar to ensure regular posting. A consistent posting schedule keeps your audience engaged and aware of your brand.
8. Collaborate with Influencers
Partnering with social media influencers can significantly boost your brand awareness. Identify influencers whose followers align with your target audience, and collaborate with them to promote your products or services.
9. Invest in Social Media Advertising
Paid social media advertising is a powerful way to reach a broader audience. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn offer advertising options that allow you to target specific demographics, ensuring your message reaches the right people.
10. Monitor and Adapt Using Analytics
Utilize the analytics tools provided by social media platforms to track your progress. These tools can help you understand what's working and what's not. Analyze the data and adjust your strategy accordingly to maximize brand awareness.
Bonus Tip: Track Your Progress
Incorporate social media analytics to monitor your growth. Most platforms offer these tools, which allow you to track engagement, reach, and other key metrics. By analyzing the data, you can refine your social media strategy over time, ensuring your brand remains relevant and successful.
Conclusion
Social media is a dynamic and ever-evolving platform, making it a potent tool for brand awareness. By actively engaging with your target audience, creating captivating content, and leveraging the right platforms, you can significantly increase your brand's visibility and reach new customers.

A choose your own adventure game called my life
So you run into a woman sitting on a park bench, that may be based on a Heart song, because someone in a grocery office thinks they're being funny. (and it's based on one of their favorite words, after some decades of consolidated power, say)
Can you contest the decision to supply an experience like that, by proceeding to where it was made? Well, no, you'd get shot for showing up. But that's neither here nor there.
So yesterday, I made intentionally awkward conversation in passing with the hulking reference librarian. And of course, I saw lots and lots of very heavy set women parading around in front of me at the park after that. For enough words to make up two sentences or therabouts.
(I knew he might be a chubby chaser! Because one of my former boss's son's wives, is overweight, and jokes are funny)
I *could* send Mary Kay and Tupperware to *your* door every single day, and then claim that you wanted it there, if only because you commented on the first time it happened. Weaponized socialization, say.
I ran into a woman at the entrance to the coop (a plant next to the plants, city/state/federal otherwise), who reminds of someone who used to manage the beanery coffee shop. She was *also* sent on these kinds of sorties, a sort of super valuable surprisingly expendable drug fixture. Either one of them could end up like my friend from back in 97; trying their best to do right by people in general. So we talked for like forty minutes in a doorway. Her trying to imply the woman she resembled was in jail, and that she was there for federal purposes that weren't immediately clear or obvious; I didn't call the number she gave me, *tempting* as that is. And I always have to wish them well (women like that) because they have a Mata Hari Jessica Rabbit quality, being a reluctant innately bad thing, "not bad, but drawn that way".
(Yes, both of them are loosely associated with where I worked, above and below the waterline) You'll see a post about Rodney King after this, and I want you to bear that in mind when reading some of the things I write here.
Ashland is owned and operated by a triumvirate of sorts, between drug cartels with government treaties of sorts through some federal arrangement (that keeps crime more unreported than reduced since 95 or so), and a major automotive wholesaler which was founded here. Which is all your upper echelon administrative stuff. So nobody works who frequents the businesses, and all the retail employees live in the slums (which town now has, and they're getting bigger along with the fire borne homeless population). A retired cop in passing, back where I used to work, imparted that there was "capital" stuff going on all over Ashland in the privacy of people's very expensive homes. I looked like the kind of person who needed to be made aware of that, I guess. After the gay couple in passing explained how, "this place used to be full of Samoans" a sly, sideways way of talking about Kings County, Washington. A comma doing as much work as the citizen-soldier hyphen, and for longer than a war in Iraq.

#Uncool500 - the big list (the top end)
Follow-up to (the bottom part) and (the bit in the middle)
Remember the #Uncool50 I did in October and November? A lot of other people did it as well, and contest sponsor @
[email protected] has compiled a full #Uncool500 from our nominations.
This is the last of three posts, songs that got six or more nominations. Part 1 takes us through two and three noms, part 2 the fours and fives.
Each nomination was worth 10 points, but we could each nominate four singles for 11 points, and one song for 12 points.
Ties are broken in a lot of ways. Acts that had a lot of songs nominated went ahead of acts with just the one big hit. As the project is inspired by "This is Uncool", a handbook of great singles from the last quarter of the 20th century. Anything in that book gravitated to the top of the tie; anything from this century followed, and songs from the 20th century and not in the book came further down.

That would be another post.......

Dirk Nowitzki "ALL DREAMS ARE CRAZY. UNTIL THEY COME TRUE."
Dirk Nowitzki "ALL DREAMS ARE CRAZY. UNTIL THEY COME TRUE."
The best legend in Dallas Mavericks history that anyone can't help but admit
A former NBA player from Germany whose position is a power forward. He played 21 seasons with only one team, the Dallas Mavericks, and was inducted into the club permanently.
A scoring power forward with various offensive skills and a shot touch of 180 clubs and one of the hottest strikers.
Although he is a seven-foot tall player, he plays in the fourth position, but he is a different type of player from most of the fourth in professional basketball. Contrary to what many people think, it's not even a typical stretchy big man. Regarding Nobitsky, there is a prejudice that the play is too focused on outer shots, but in fact, he was a scoring machine regardless of the interior and exterior that was technically skilled as well as shooting from the beginning of his career to his heyday. Depending on the team's situation, he once took the center position of No. 5, and in terms of scoring, he played like a swingman with a height of 7 feet, it was simply Resel Weppon.
First of all, the start of the play is mainly at the high post. It is even more noticeable considering that offensive power forwards or stretch forwards with a typical size 4 do not start like this. Instead of catching the ball from the outside and trying to break through, it creates an empty space with passing through a two-man game that starts with a screen at the high post and throws a shot. In addition, he is the type to finish by throwing a shot in the mid-range himself, so he does not enter the inside rebound. In the end, in order to prevent Nobitsky's high-run shot, the opponent No. 4 must also come out and contest.
In fact, jumpers in the middle range, especially in the section corresponding to Long 2, are very inefficient attacks considering the basic proposition of basketball. Even now, throwing a shot close to the goal is the basis of the basics, and throwing from afar is a problem and reduces the possibility of a rebound in case of failure. Therefore, shooting here is taboo in general situations, and if you are going to throw from a distance, it is recommended to throw outside the three-point line. However, Nobitsky's main scoring route is a long-distance middle shot within this three-point line, the least anticipated and most taboo shot in basketball. And the greatness of Nowitzki is revealed here. This is because the fieldwork rate is so high that such inefficiency can be ignored. If you list the reading score for each zone from the 96-97 season to the 20-21 season, you can see that Novitzki monopolizes the entire 12-20 feet and is very strong against Mid-Long 2, taking up six of the mid-range zones divided into seven.
