Denmark and Germany Deepen Offshore Wind Collaboration to Power Europe’s Green Future
Denmark and Germany have agreed to intensify their cooperation on offshore wind energy development and innovative energy hubs in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, accelerating the clean energy transition and supporting EU climate goals.

🔹Ambitious Capacity Targets: Denmark aims to increase its offshore wind capacity to 12.9 GW by 2030, up from earlier targets, producing around 49.5 TWh/year—enough to power millions of homes. Germany targets an offshore wind capacity of 26 GW by 2030, a significant increase from 7.8 GW in 2021.
🔹Bornholm Energy Island: A flagship joint project to build a 3 GW offshore wind energy island in the Danish Baltic Sea, expected to be operational in the early 2030s. It will connect 1.2 GW to Denmark and 2 GW to Germany, enhancing cross-border electricity flows.
