I got a tattoo.

It's not a big deal, people get tattoos all the time. Worst part is just a little bit of pain.

No, really. It's not a big deal. People get tattoos all the time. But I'm proud of myself, because I went to a studio, talked to a stranger, was able to trust him to draw on me permanently, made small talk with him about festivals and metal bands and we shared some dark humour. And the pain really was the worst part. I left without the typical overwhelming sense of dread after existing in public.

I've wanted this tattoo for over two years. One thing about anxiety is that it is painfully isolating and restrictive and it takes away the things I love one by one until there's barely anything left. Doing something challenging and scary is hard but it's a sign I'm getting better.
