*This looks like a traditional Algerian tiara with the way the panels are designed but I don’t know the proper term for it so if anyone is more knowledgeable please let me know.

Hi, I like the Princess Yasmine Murat's tiara (jebin/jbiin/aljebain?). Do you have any examples of other tiaras of that sort?

Also, thank you for chronicling the weddings tiaras.

I’m glad you liked them!  I searched for jebin, jbiin, al jebain, djbine, and djebine but I wasn't getting very many results.  Someone tagged one of Princess Yasmine Murat's posts with الجبين الجزائري and that got the most results but of course I can't read them.  The terms assaba and açaba (عصّابة) also keep coming up but I can’t tell if that’s something different.  I think that khit errouh (خيط الروح) is the smaller ferronnière like piece worn underneath the larger tiara in some of the photos below.  Algeria and other parts of North Africa have so many wonderful types of historic headdresses and hair jewelry that are still worn today.  It’s definitely something I’m going to keep researching.  Here are a bunch of pictures of the paneled style because I had to limit myself.

From looking through the photos it seems that it used to be common for the paneled tiaras to be worn with other hair jewelry but nowadays it’s kept simpler and the angled placement seems to have gone out of fashion.

I just saved about a thousand photos so I should go organize them but instead I’m going to buy myself a book or two.  Does anybody have any recommendations?

Romanov Wedding Wrap-Up

I still haven’t been able to identify these three people or their tiaras.  I saw even more tiaras in the background of other people’s videos but I gave up trying to get a decent picture of them so there’s definitely still a lot more missing.

I didn’t mention it this weekend but this was Infanta Maria Francisca’s tiara debut!!!  I know not everyone liked the tiara but I thought it was very appropriate for a young princess of a former monarchy’s first tiara and she’ll have time later to wear the bigger Portuguese pieces.

Princess Yasmine Murat posted another photo of her traditional Algerian tiara and an explanation of her outfit on Instagram.  She called it a Jbiin, I’ve seen others call it a Jebin, and @freshhazelnut called it ​AlJubain​ and provided some pictures here.  I’m assuming those are all different ways of transliterating the same word from Arabic script but Google has not been helpful.  I like the use of mixed metals in the design.

On a personal note, this weekend really made me appreciate you all here on Tumblr.  I’ve been trying to post Tiara Alerts and things more on other social media and I’ve learned that other people are just straight up mean.  I get negative comments here sometimes but they are nothing compared to the comments on Instagram.  Here people usually keep it to the tiara itself or their personal preferences for clothes/jewelry/hairstyle but over there people say awful things about the actual people in the post.  I’ve had to delete so many terrible comments and the part that gets me the most is that on Instagram especially the person featured in the Tiara Alert can easily see it.  Like all Infanta Maria Francisca has to do is click the tag of her name which doesn’t have very many posts in it to see the things these people are saying.  Anyway, I love you guys.
