You never meant to fall for your best friend, Lorenzo Berkshire. Everything had to happen according to plan, and this was not part of the plan. Yet each sweet gesture of his was leading you down the path of no return.

The words swam across the page and you sighed in frustration. It had been the fifteenth time you tried to read the same sentence, but fatigue had made its home in your bones. You finally surrendered, slumping your shoulders and landing face first onto your textbook with a thud.
“There are better places to sleep, you know. For instance, the couch or literally behind you, your bed,” Lorenzo Berkshire suggested helpfully as he closed the door to your dorm room. You didn’t even hear him enter.
You shifted your head, placing your cheek onto the printed words. You could hardly care if any of the ink transferred onto your face. Would it somehow seep into your brain too and help you study faster? “Let me perish in peace,” you whined.
He shook his head and grabbed your open planner beside you, scanning through the scrawled handwriting that dictated your life. “You’re supposed to be preparing for bed now,” he said, shoving the list into your face.
“Too. Many. Words.” You emphasized each word as if it was a struggle to even speak.
“You can’t do this to yourself,” he said, his words tinged with concern. His worry shot an arrow straight to your heart. It was bad enough you couldn’t concentrate on your studies anymore. You didn’t need to fall deeper in love with your best friend. A feeling that you tried hard to suppress. It wasn’t part of the plan.
That warm, cozy feeling you tried not to think about was enough to restore some of your strength as you closed your textbook and packed up for the night. You updated your planner and placed the stationery away for tomorrow. “I didn’t mean to worry you,” you said, rubbing the back of your head.
Enzo just smiled and exhaled as if you were being ridiculous. “Well you can’t stop me from caring, you’re my best friend. Besides, what would you do without me?” He said, holding out a paper bag to you.
You stared at his smiling face just a beat longer, trying to save it for later, and turned your attention to the paper bag. You opened it and peered inside, it drove the arrow further through your heart. “You didn’t have to get me my favorite candle,” you began.
“But I had to, yours is nearly over,” he said pointedly looking at your burning candle, whose flames flirted dangerously with the bottom of the glass jar. “It’s a freshly scented fire hazard at this point.”
You frowned and took out the second item from the bag. It was exactly the book you wanted to read. You gasped excitedly. It was sold out everywhere but he managed to get a copy for you. You couldn’t find the words so your excitement sent you leaping into his arms instead. The impact surprised him but he caught you, holding on tightly as he lifted you off the floor.
You inhaled the scent of his soap and cologne, your heart fluttering at the familiar scent. “Thank you,” you said, burrowing your head into his neck. He exhaled sharply as if your gesture took the breath out from him, but you dismissed it as a delusion. As far as you knew, he only ever saw you as a friend and you were not going to take advantage of his kindness. He’s a good friend, that’s all.
You removed your arms around him in disappointment, placing your feet back firmly on the ground and back to reality. “You’re welcome,” he replied, “now why were you studying when your planner clearly said you should be sleeping?”
You blushed, not wanting to admit that it had been hard to concentrate since he took over your mind. “Just, you know me, I want to do well in the subject,” you gulped, you were a bad liar. You were so exhausted, you even forgot which subject you were reading about. But Enzo didn’t push further, trusting that you’d share with him when you were ready.
“Just take care of yourself, okay? Good night,” he said, pressing a kiss to your forehead. It sent electric jolts from your head all the way down to the prickling sensation in your toes. A warmth settled in your stomach.
You waved after him weakly as he left your dorm, gently closing the door. You didn’t trust your lips to speak or you might just find yourself asking him to stay.
Tumblr media
Of course guys and girls could be friends together, unless the boy was Lorenzo Berkshire. You huffed in annoyance. You had managed ten perfectly wholesome years laughing at each other’s silly jokes, sharing lunch, exploring new places together during the summer holidays.
He was Lorenzo, the snotty little kid who scraped his knees climbing trees and chasing after spiders. He was your best friend. How dare your heart and brain join forces against you, feeding you things that were anything but wholesome.
He looked at you from beside the Astronomy Tower and you took in his features closely. Time had carved away his rounded cheeks and sharpened his jaw line. His frame filled in the uniform as if the rest of his body was sculpted by the gods themselves. It was clear that he was no longer that little boy you knew.
“Something wrong with my face?” A playful smirk adorned his already charming face. And oh he knew the effect he had on people.
“Ugh,” you rolled your eyes as heat crept up your cheeks because you had been staring at him a beat longer than was appropriate.
“If you were actually doing your Astronomy homework, you might have a chance at getting top marks,” he gestured at the abandoned instruments beside you.
“And if I told you that the way your eyes twinkle could rival the stars? My mind would still be on Astronomy, no?”
It was his turn to blush at your words. It wasn’t new, flirting with each other. You were both quick to throw in compliments and jabs at each other. It was always meant to be playful, and yet your words jumpstarted his heart and unleashed an entire zoo in his stomach.
“You must be a black hole,” he quipped, turning the tables, “because I can’t help but get lost in your eyes.”
You hid your smirk behind the thermos he had brought you and took a sip. It was your new favorite tea. It shouldn’t have surprised you that you that he knew how you liked your tea despite your affinity for trying new flavors.
After all, he remembered you’d be here tonight to do your Astronomy homework and he wanted to keep you company. Just like he remembered to save you your favorite breakfast croissant when you arrived late at the Great Hall. Then there was the time he brought you flowers just because.
It was one sweet deed after another, a small act that nudged you off the ledge and then some. You groaned inwardly as the warm bittersweet taste of tea settled into your senses. This was the final straw. Some people fell gracefully into love then there was you. You had  tripped into love and landed face first on the ground. You never planned to fall for your best friend.
Gripping your fingers through the soil, you fought tooth and nail to remain firmly on the ground. But when you moved to stand, you somehow tumbled further down the hill with each thoughtful gesture, collecting scrapes from rocks and twigs on your way down. Dirt caked your clothes. Your hair was a metaphorical mess, so much so that a bird could make its nest there. Needless to say, falling for Lorenzo Berkshire was anything but graceful.
As you took another sip of your favorite tea, you could no longer deny your feelings. You chuckled, sure you were going crazy as you shared your feelings. “Well I feel more like a comet just hurtling in space because I never planned for this.”
He stood up straighter at the sudden fire in your tone and seriousness at your expression. He looked at you patiently, waiting for you to continue.
“Do you know how hard you’ve made it for me these past few weeks?” You huffed, pointing at him. “I tried so hard not to fall for you because you’re my best friend. It wasn’t part of the plan! But you bring me this,” you gestured at the tea, “my favorite tea and you expect me not to fall for you? Then there’s the flowers, the scented candle and books! You knew the way to my heart and you just waltzed right in. How dare you!”
He chuckled and nodded, “How dare I? So that’s why you’ve been acting strange the past couple weeks. No,” he shook his head. “How dare you make me think about you all the time? Did you think I wanted to fall for you too? I just wanted to see you smile, wanted to hear you laugh, especially when it was because of something I did. I don’t know when I started to fancy you but I do and I just wanted to have these little reasons to see you.”
You both huffed as your confessions set in. “You love me too?”
“I think my actions have spoken louder for me, no?” He asked rhetorically.
“But it’s not part of the plan,” you argued, pointing at your planner that had your life planned out in neat rows and columns, down to your daily to do list.
“Maybe it was written in the stars,” he quipped, returning to your conversation on Astronomy.
“You did not just say that,” you said, a chuckle escaping your lips.
“Stop being stubborn and come here,” he sighed, picking up your planner and grabbing a marker. “Here, add me to the plan, it’s that simple. You know you’re in charge of these, not the other way around.”
You looked over his shoulder, watching his handwriting form on the page as he moved your schedule around and he inserted his name. Dates you’d spend together.
“I—” you opened your lips to protest but he caught you in a kiss. The words died on your lips as everything else inside you came to life. You knew then that there was no going back and for the first time, you allowed yourself to want it. To want him.
You sighed inwardly, he was right. It could be that simple. Perhaps it was even written in the stars.

Unfolding Opportunities: Exploring the Fanfold Market
In the realm of packaging and printing, fanfold, also known as continuous form paper or continuous stationery, has established itself as a versatile and efficient solution for various applications. This article aims to delve into the significance of fanfold, its diverse applications, and the factors shaping the market for this adaptable form of paper.
Fanfold paper is characterized by its continuous, accordion-folded format, typically supplied in a continuous stack that unfolds like a fan when fed into a printer or other processing equipment. This unique design allows for seamless printing of large volumes of documents, labels, invoices, shipping manifests, and other materials, making fanfold paper a popular choice for businesses across different industries.
One of the key advantages of fanfold paper is its suitability for high-volume printing applications, such as dot matrix printing, impact printing, and thermal transfer printing. The continuous format eliminates the need for reloading paper trays or changing rolls frequently, enabling uninterrupted printing of long print runs with minimal downtime, thereby enhancing productivity and efficiency in printing operations.

Moreover, fanfold paper offers flexibility in terms of customization and size options, allowing businesses to tailor the paper dimensions, perforations, and fold patterns to suit specific printing requirements. Whether used for printing shipping labels, packing slips, receipts, or barcode labels, fanfold paper can be configured to accommodate different printing formats and equipment specifications, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
In the logistics and shipping industry, fanfold paper is widely used for printing shipping labels, address labels, and packing slips, providing essential documentation for tracking and managing shipments. The continuous format allows for efficient printing of labels and documents in bulk, streamlining order fulfillment processes and improving accuracy and traceability in logistics operations.
Furthermore, fanfold paper finds applications in the manufacturing, healthcare, finance, and retail sectors, where it is utilized for printing invoices, statements, receipts, patient forms, transaction records, and other business-critical documents. The continuous form factor enables seamless integration with automated processing equipment, such as printers, scanners, and sorting machines, facilitating efficient document management and workflow automation.
The market for fanfold paper is influenced by several factors, including technological advancements in printing technology, regulatory requirements, and evolving business needs. As businesses seek to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve productivity, there is growing demand for printing solutions that offer efficiency, reliability, and versatility.
Moreover, regulatory compliance and data security considerations drive the adoption of fanfold paper for printing sensitive documents and records, such as medical records, financial statements, and legal documents. The continuous format ensures document integrity and security by minimizing the risk of tampering, loss, or unauthorized access, thereby meeting stringent regulatory requirements and safeguarding sensitive information.
Additionally, advancements in printing technology, such as digital printing, variable data printing, and RFID encoding, are expanding the capabilities and applications of fanfold paper, enabling personalized printing, on-demand printing, and enhanced tracking and authentication features. These technological innovations offer opportunities for businesses to differentiate their products and services, improve customer engagement, and drive innovation in the fanfold paper market.
In conclusion, fanfold paper continues to play a crucial role in packaging, printing, and document management applications, offering efficiency, flexibility, and reliability for businesses across diverse industries. As printing technology evolves, regulatory requirements evolve, and business needs evolve, the market for fanfold paper is expected to continue growing and evolving, driven by the demand for printing solutions that unfold opportunities for enhanced productivity, efficiency, and innovation.

Shishigumi with an artist partner
General for all the kitties:
• I think that they’d all be very supportive of their partner and probably try to spoil their s/o with expensive paints and materials
• If their s/o happens to be a digital artist, they’d probably get access to every program in existence
• Although I’m sure these lions and respectful gentlemen, I think they’d all probably try and snoop at some of your works, in hopes to find some couple art of ya’ll
Ibuki
• He likes taking you to beautiful private places where you could paint or draw, it doesn’t have to be the scenery but he understands it might provoke those creative juices
• You guys have quiet little dates, often he reads while you paint or draw
• Hangs up your art in the Shishigumi mansion, his place, or make it his wallpaper
Chief Lion
• One of the few lions that ask you to make art for them, he loves to have your art in his office because it’s a constant reminder of his s/o’s work
• He enjoys watching you paint and has a little area in his office for you to work in, it helps him relax from all the stress of running a powerful gang
• He loves having you on his lap while you work on a piece
Free
• He’s all about your art, is it a painting? It’s on the wall. Digital? On his camera roll. NSFW? His private. He loves showing off your work to everyone
• Can you draw me? Upon realizing you make art, it hasn’t stopped, but now he requests cute small drawings of you guys
• Plans to tattoo some of your pieces on himself, and might even ask for a design idea
Agata
• Like Ibuki, you guys have little dates together, he plays video games and you draw
• He tries to draw with you the best he could, and he often suggests little challenges for you two to try, like Inktober. He might not be good at it, but he’s always making an effort to be involved with you
• If you're going through art block, he’s the lion to go to. He always has ideas and tries to cheer you up from being sad about having art block
Dolph
• Gives you feedback on the work you show him, only if you ask, he’s very good and even though he sounds serious, he means well and enjoys all the art you create
• Has some of your smaller prints in his wallet to look at when he misses you and might ask you to decorate a cute polaroid picture of you guys
• He’s always mesmerized by the way you work, and you catch him staring quite a bit at you while you’re working
Hino
• He enjoys watching you create your artworks, if it’s a painting you working on, he gets put to sleep just listening to your brush strokes
• Doesn’t mind posing for you if you need a reference, or if you just wanna paint your pretty bf sleeping
• The most patient out of the Shishigumi when it comes to watching you complete your art from start to finish, he really just finds having a nice s/o creating artwork to be so relaxing and comforting. He’ll stay for hours
Dope
• Gets you the best deals on art supplies, and will get the help of Jinma to find the best places to get those said supplies
• He asks you to draw different eyebrows on him to get the two of you laughing
• Gets you a variety of supplies, like clay, paint and digital tools, he wants you to try everything and he also wants to spoil you like crazy with anything you like
Jinma
• Goes around and finds you the best stationery and art materials, or he manages to get that premium photoshop membership
• Paint on the same spot he has on yourself and he’ll melt, he might let you paint another one over his other eye for fun
• Likes taking you to the nicer areas of the black market, he knows some very beautiful areas that’ll have those creative juices flowing
Sabu
• You bet he’s asking you to design a couple of his bandanas, he’ll wear them with pride, he doesn’t have to say anything to show how happy he is to wear your work on him
• I like to imagine he’s a fan of those really cool graffiti lettering. So he sometimes makes a couple of pieces of his own in that style or practices his lettering
• Both of you design each other's motorcycle helmets, one of his many ways to show he adores your art and has a part of you with him at all times
Miguel
• Like Hino, after a long day working and working out, hearing and watching you work relaxes him and puts you to sleep
• He makes sure you don’t accidentally drink that paint water or get too slouched on your desk, he likes tickling you to make sure you haven’t died on him from working 3 hours straight
• He’s asked you to design some patches for him, so he can iron them onto his tracksuit

Mixtapes and Love letters
Tumblr media
→ A/n: Hui x Reader x Jinho
→ Genre: Fluff
→ Words:  1.9K
→ Contains: polyamorous relationship.
→ A/n: This was an absolute delight to write, thank you so much for the request! We hope you all like it too!
Tumblr media
You spent months rolling in your bed late at night trying to figure out what you felt. You knew that being in love with someone would be very complicated, but the fact that you were in love with two different men took things to a-whole-nother level of difficulty. When both Hui and Jinho enlisted you expected things to be easier, you would be able to figure out your feelings and maybe try to make something about it, but it actually felt that it just made things harder.
Out of your sleepless nights, you came out with a plan, trying to take the decisions somewhat out of your hands. You always leaned on songs to speak for you when you couldn’t find words, and you came to realize that you could associate different songs for each one of the boys. So you dug your box of stationery items out of your closet and painted two pretty CD cases, complete with a handmade booklet of all the songs you thought could explain your feelings, as well as some silly doodles you just thought matched. To finish the cover, you wrote the name of the man to who the mixtape was dedicated too.
The songs were carefully thought through and you felt sick on the stomach, thinking about all kinds of scenarios that could come out of this decision. They could hate it, they couldn’t understand the message, they could like it. In the end, you didn’t know how you would react to either one of them, and thinking about it only made you shake out of anxiety. Rushing to get this over with, you shoved them to each individual envelope covered with some stickers and addressed to the designated unit.
It took them a couple of weeks, your anxiety already peeking, expecting at least a phone call from them, but you had no answer. Just when you thought they had cut ties with you, you’ve got your mail. Three different letters were assigned to your name: One from Jinho, one from Hui, and one without a name on the envelope.
Their letters said basically the same, carefully handwritten, but they both thanked you and said they liked the songs and it brightened their day, they will listen to it every day, and such. But neither one of them mentioned something about feelings, and you thought you were pretty clear with what you meant with all the love songs and heart doodles. You didn’t know what to think from their impersonal answers, and it only made you more confused. The third letter had the same type of envelope they use in military units, and so you proceed to read that one. Rather than handwritten, this one was printed.
Dear Y/N,
Imagine how surprised we were to receive a mixtape addressed to us! Now imagine how much more surprised we were when we called, telling each other we received a mixtape meant for the other.
Yes, that's right.
We both came to the conclusion that your head must be a mess, and somehow along the way, you must have switched the content of each package. Jinho got a mixtape meant for Hui, Hui got the mixtape meant for Jinho. Loving someone is complicated, and loving two people must have been driving you insane, maybe that’s how we got switched mail.
It took us a while to understand what happened, as well as coming to an agreement about what we were going to do about it. After talking on the phone for a few days, and reflecting on our feelings, we came to the conclusion that we both feel the same. The complicated part was to come up with how in the world we would write a collective love letter.
We guess what we are trying to say is that maybe we could manage to try to figure this out together? And while we cannot actually send you beautiful songs for you to listen to, since we don’t have access to it, we thought together of some songs that remind us of you and this very unlikely situation we found ourselves in.
Sincerely Yours,
Jo Jinho and Lee Hwitaek
P.S.: Would you like to go on a triple date? 🤍
Attached to the letter were two post-its with 5 songs each, written in their calligraphy, for you to listen to, and a gift card from a coffee shop downtown you used to meet together with your group of friends, with the day and time to meet up scribbled above it.
You completely froze for a solid minute, feeling a million different things at the same time. You were completely embarrassed for being so stupid and switched the mixtapes, excited that they feel the same, giggling thinking about them on the phone coming up with the letter together, and extremely excited about being asked on a date. But how would you act on a date with two people at the same time? How would they act? What would you three even do?
You thought you had come with a solution for your dyad feelings, but instead, you were facing the possibility of having two boyfriends. At the same time it scared you, it had you jumping off of your feet.
The date was… Awkward. At least in the beginning.
You three sat across from each other at a small round table and just stared at each other in silence. You took the opportunity to see how much Hui and Jinho had changed. The military training had gotten them more muscular and eating better than before, so their faces were looking healthier with fuller cheeks, which you found absolutely adorable and hard to not stare at in between the sips of your camomile tea.
“So,” Jinho was the first to break the silence. “I guess we have to talk about it at some point.” he chuckled nervously.
“Yeah, I guess” you blushed, smiling to cover your shyness. “You guys talked without me, so I would like to hear your thoughts.”
“There wasn’t much to talk about, actually.” Hui intervened. “When we learned that you have feelings for the both of us, and we two feel the same, it was more about not losing either our friendship or you, so yeah, that was pretty much it.”
He talked confidently, but you didn’t miss the way he fidgeted with the paper napkin.
“But we are curious, how did this happen?” It was Jinho who continued “How did you realize and how is it? having feelings for both of us, I mean.”
“I…” you struggled to come up with an explanation “I’m not sure, to be honest, it just kind of happened? I love being friends with both of you and I realized I’m attracted to you two. And the more we hung out, the more I wanted something else to happen. I don’t know, how do you explain falling in love?” a nervous laugh escaped your lips. “And then I thought confessing to the both of you would make things clearer to me, but I never thought this would be the outcome.”
“I guess we understand, right?” Jinho answered you but asked Hui for reassurance. “We’ve been friends for so long, it just happened naturally
“Yeah, it was confusing for us at first, and we actually talked about the other backing down for the sake of friendship, but we already have such a good friendship the three of us, why can’t we make it work? I guess it wouldn’t change so much, would it?” Hui offered an encouraging smile to you
The date moved on to a walk in the nearby park. It was quiet and peaceful and allowed you two to breathe some fresh air and watch the sunset on the horizon, painting the sky with beautiful hues of pink and purple, while still figuring things out.
You walked in between them, the subject changed for a while, talking about their new routine and how things were going. For a second you actually forgot the purpose of this date, and it felt like just friends hanging out like you were used to. What brought your mind back to what was actually happening was Jinho gently grabbing your hand and smiling shyly while Hui told you about the projects he plans on finishing when his basic training is done.
He stopped talking when realized what had happened and promptly held your free hand.
“Hey!” He exclaimed rather loudly, making you and Jinho laugh “It’s not fair, I want to hold hands too!”
As you followed your way, now both hands clasped securely around theirs, you felt like the blush on your cheeks was permanent. It was a strange feeling. But a good strange feeling, and you thought you wouldn’t be something hard to get used to.
What was supposed to be a coffee date became a dinner date by the river, and now it was close to their curfew. The night was ending much too fast for your taste, and once the initial awkwardness passed, you realized that Hui was right, there wasn’t much to change. They decided it was too late for you to go home alone, so they wanted to drop you off at your place.
“So, this is me” you stopped at your doorstep.”
"We have to go back in a few so we can't dwell much outside with you, sorry", Hui said with a pout, making you smile kindly at him.
"Rest well, Y/N. And please write to us more". Jinho said, getting your attention back on him.
"I will. You guys too, write to me, ok?", you felt a little bummed out to have to part ways with them but your insides felt warm at the intense way they were looking at you.
"We will", Jinho said and stepped closer, pulling you to a hug. "Have a good night. You looked lovely today".
You barely had time to say goodnight back when he pulled away a little and gently held your chin. Jinho smiled brightly and then lightly brushed his lips against yours in a gentle peck. You heard Hui scoff and then chuckle behind Jinho and you pulled apart, giggling. Jinho let you go then, stepping out of the sidewalk and letting Hui move forward while he kept his distance.
"Good night. You did look beautiful today. But then, you always do", Hui shyly said and you took the initiative to hug him first, his arms surrounding you instantly.
Hui moved a bit more eagerly than Jinho but it was magical just the same. He kissed you more firmly even if it was still gentle and you sighed into the kiss. His hands were on your waist instead of your face and he squeezed it for a second before stepping away.
"Thank you both, for everything", you smiled as they stood next to each other with equally silly smiles on their faces. "Go back safely and please let me know if they're treating you right".
They nodded almost in sync and waved, saying their final goodbyes before turning and starting to walk away. You stood there, watching them leave and suddenly you called their names out, making them stop and turn to you once more.
"You both look gorgeous too. I hope I'll see you in dreams tonight!", you said almost in a shout because of their distance, and Hui and Jinho chuckled, a blush spreading on their face before waving back at you and shyly saying "thank you".
As they left, you couldn't stop watching them, their relaxed manner and heads held up high made you feel special. As they neared the corner, they looked up and waved again, you waving back briefly before they disappeared. You couldn't help the cliche little twist in front of the door and the squeak leaving your mouth. You definitely were going to dream about your two gorgeous loves.

Miraculous Flash Forward Part 5: Return to Paris
A Miraculous Fan-Fic
Written by
AJ Dunn
Adrien pulled his coat on tight around his shoulders. It was a freezing winter night as he made his way back home. He avoided the urge to transform, though it would be quicker to scale the roof tops than trying to walk. It wasn’t the best idea for the tiny Kwami who was already feeling a chill. Now that Fu is gone, there was no one to heal the Kwami if he got sick. It’s not like there was a listing for guardians.
The metro had already stopped running for the night but Adrien made his way home. Plagg didn’t waste any time flying off to sit on the heater to warm himself. Adrien pulled the Manchego from the grocery bag he was carrying and broke off a large chunk then tossed it into the air. Like magic, it disappeared into the Kwami’s mouth. Adrien tore up the package that came today It was a fleece Ladybug footed onesie with a zipper up the front.
“It’s here Plagg.” Adrien beamed. He had created a fake social media account and used it to message Marinette. He was surprised that she responded happily to his request for the commission of a onesie. He wanted to feel close to her again, but he couldn’t let her know it was him. He stripped down right in the seating area and slipped the fuzzy thing on. It fit perfectly. He kicked the box to the side but realized there was something else in it. He moved the tissue paper to the side and found a fleece black garment folded up. It had the red trimming same as her costume design. He pulled it out and found it was a Cat Noir footed onesie with a hood and ears. The feet even had paw prints on the bottom.
OH Plagg.” he called holding the onesie up. “Look what I got.” waved the onesie around like a child on Christmas. A holiday he’s not had the pleasure of really celebrated since his mom went into a coma. Even while living with Amelie he had avoided it as a sad reminder of his parents.
“Think you dropped this.” Plagg picked up a piece of paper. It was a pink polka dot stationery folded in half. He opened it up and read the note tossing the Cat onesie over his shoulder.
“There is no Ladybug, without her Cat Noir”
It was a simple statement, but it brought Adrien to tears. He dropped heavily onto the couch letting the letter fall from his hands.
“You know.” Plagg started. “It’s only 5 months until the 5-year reunion. Will you go?”
“At this point, I doubt they would want me to come.” Adrien surrendered to stood up and headed for bed. Adrien’s phone dinged a new notification as he laid silently on his bed. He picked it up. It was another post on Alya’s Lady blog.
“It’s 5 months away from the 5 year anniversary of the defeat of Hawk Moth. Now that Paris has finally begun to heal from the pain caused by this villain, the citizens have been asking if our saviors would come together for a celebration. So I managed to rope Ladybug herself into an interview.” The camera zoomed at showing Alya sitting in a room with two armchairs and a simple round table between them. Ladybug sat next to her.
“Thank you for coming Ladybug.”
“Thank you for having me.” Ladybug smiled. She was so beautiful. Her midnight hair had grown out and was no longer in her customary pigtails.
“First of all, the defeat of Hawk Moth was quite the feat.”
“That is an understatement.” her serious face looked from Alya to the camera and back.
“How well do you think the people of Paris have recovered from it? Do you think they are ready for a celebration like this?”
“I think some of us still suffer certain losses even in the wake of Hawk Moths final attack.” Ladybug was looking at the screen now.
“Are you referring to the disappearance of Cat Noir?” Ladybug closed her eyes and drew a fist to her chest.
“There is no Ladybug without Cat Noir.” She said looking into the camera again. “Where ever you are if you are watching. Cat it’s time to come home.” tears jerked at his heart as he tossed his phone down on the bed and walked to the railing overlooking at his seating area.
“Stayed tuned for an interview with Marinette, the class president of the class who graduated during the final attack of Hawk Moth.” Adrien turned around and found Plagg holding the phone watching the blog.
“Must you watch that?” Adrien asked irritated.
‘What’s wrong, afraid you’ll lose the battle and get on a place?” Plagg egged him on. Adrien shook his head and turned back to his bed. He took the phone and went downstairs. Plagg turned the TV on and Adrien mirrored the phone to it. Suddenly there was Marinette on the big screen. He was wearing a cute dress, a black coated top with a flared pink Polka dot skirt. She did love her polka dots. There was a little black kitten embroidered into the skirt batting at, a ladybug?
“Is that…” Adrien said looking closer at her skirt.
“An ode to Ladybug and Cat Noir?” Plagg finished. “I think it is.”
“Marinette, it’s been nearly 5 years since your class graduation was interrupted by the final attack of Hawk Moth, how do you think your classmates are fairing today?”
“I can’t speak for all of them, but those who I have been in contact with are really looking forward to it. In fact, they are excited and hopeful to see each other again, and the superheroes that saved us.”
“After 5 years it’s no surprised that we have lost contact with some of our classmates, so how many have you spoken with?”
“All, but one.” the downcast look on her face spoke to her heart’s disposition regarding Adrien’s disappearance. “After that past four years, and all the searching on the internet, they have been no sign of our missing classmate. If you or anyone who know have any idea where our beloved friend has gone, please, let him know we are his family and we miss him.” Adrien turned the television off and went to bed.
The closer it came to the reunion the more his phone alerted him to updates of Marinette and Alya preparing for the festivities. Marinette had always given her entire self to her friends, helping them, and picnics, how could Adrien have not seen what a true superhero she was and she didn’t even need a mask.
Adrien picked up his mail in the mailroom then headed out to the school. It was spring now, and only a week away from the reunion. He noticed a thick envelope with a card inside. He opened it as he sat on the metro. It was an invitation to the reunion. Addressed to him. He checked the address and noticed a label had been placed on top of the original label. Thanks, Amelie. Or Emelie. They were both now living together, though Adrien hadn’t spoken with either. Emelie was still incoherent though conscious and living at the manor with Amelie. Adrien looked over the card again and noticed a finally written note in the corner of the card.
“I’m still waiting for your answer.” He knew Marinette’s handwriting all too well. He smiled as his heart warmed at the message.
“I will go,” he said out loud, hoping only Plagg heard him from his pocket. Adrien had a lot of arrangements to make if he was to go. He had grounds to maintain. He would need to put someone else in charge of these tasks. Adrien wasn’t sure how long he would stay, but he would start with a week just in case. He was surprised to find someone was at the temple when he arrived. An older man was cleaning up the grounds as Adrien walked up.
“Laoshi Mao?” the man asked. “I am Orisuma.”
“I thank you for your hard work, what brings you?” Adrien asked.
“I had been noticing you doing all this work on your own. Such a hard working young man” Orisuma offered. “I have been released from my job and have nothing to do during the day.” Adrien smiled.
“You have come at the right time.” Adrien motioned for the man to follow him. He keyed open the temple and the two walked inside.
“I have to go away for a few days, and I was just thinking to myself this morning how I need someone to tend to the grounds until I return.” Adrien walked him and around showing him all of the tasks he had to carry out every day and the onles that only needed to be done weekly. Since classes were still on hold for another couple weeks due to the mourning of Cheng Sifu, there wasn’t laundry. Many of the students left their yi-fu here.
“I would be happy to provide this survice to you, if you will allow me to continue when you return.” Adrien smiled at him.
“I would be honored to have your aid.” Feeling at ease and knowing he had nothing else to do for the day he returned home to prepare for his trip. His excited and nerves argued in his stomach as he arranged his flight, and packed his bags.
“Felix,” He said on the phone as his cousin answered. “I’ll be on a plane this evening for Paris.” A silence on the other side of the phone told him Felix was surprised.
“Wow, what brought this on?” Felix must be so busy with work that he hasn’t been following the buzz.
“The reunion is this Saturday, and I have been invited.”
“Are you finally ready to face them?”
“I am not sure, but what better time to do so.” Adrien gulped trying to not lose his nerve.
“Well, are there any arrangements you would like me to make on my end?”
“Just see that my room is ready.”
“You plan to...stay there.” the hesitation in Felix’s voice reverberated Adrien’s own hesitation.
“It makes sense.” Adrien tried to justify it, rather then getting a motel. “People would ask to many questions why the Heir to Agreste manor stays in a hotel instead of his own home.”
“I see your point.”
“Besides, it’s been 5 years, you’d think a man would have gotten over such a thing by now.” He wasn’t sure he was quite yet, but the prospect of finding out, while it made him wince in emotional pain, it also lightened his heart to the prospect of finally finding out who the love of his life was. His Lady.
“Pick me up at the airport.” Adrien said before they ended the call. Adrien checked the refrigerator for anything that would spoil while he was gone. Aside from cheese which would sustain, he had very little else. His evening meal was still made with Cheng Sifu. Ah, he remembered. He picked up his phone and called him.
“I will be going back to Paris for a week, so I won’t be coming in.” He heard Cheng make some sound on the other end of the line, it sounded like a cheer.
“You say hello to my nieces for me while you are there.” Another cheer came from the other end of the line. “Before you go, I would like to send them a treat if you don’t mind picking it up.” Adrien agreed and hung up the phone.
The box was larger than Adrien had expected, but not to large to fit in the back seat of his cab. Luckily he only carried one suitcase and a carry on bag. Mostly for the snacks Plagg would eat on the plane. It was a good thing Kwami’s couldn’t be seen or heard through technology. Otherwise there would be some explaining to do at airport security. He checked the box and suit case then found a seat at the boarding gate to wait for his boarding call. He had a while to wait as he had been in a hurry to get their that he arrived an hour early. Sitting in a nearly empty waiting area where no one else could see him he pulled out his phone holding it up to his head as he pretended to be on the phone.
“Who do you think I should visit first.” he asked Plagg as he used the voice to cover the secret conversation.
“I’d visit the Bakery first, they have amazing snacks and or Leons Cheese store for some yummy Camembert.” Plagg was more excited than anything at the prospect of the snacks.
“I can’t go to the bakery first” Adrien gupled. “What if Marinette is there?”
“She said she wants you to come home.” Plagg reminded him.
“She wants answers, and I doubt my answer will be good enough, Plagg I ran away like a child.”
“Well, you were in a very unique situation Adrien. No one would blame you for reacting like that.” Plagg was just happy to be going home. “You told Felix to stock up on cheese right.”
“I think we can handle that on our own, we don’t need someone else doing everything for us anymore.” Adrien had made himself into an independent man. He didn’t want someone preparing his meals for him, or buying his clothes. That was Adrien Agreste and he wasn’t that man anymore.
“I know the first person I want to see, and I know exactly how to ask her for forgiveness.” Adrien had been following the news in Paris and keeping up with everyone from a distance. It was Ladybug and Marinette he owed the most too, and he would start with Ladybug.
Adrien shoved the box into the back seat of Felix’s car then the suit case. He climbed into the front seat. His hood was still pulled over his head hiding his face. A common thing while he was in public.
“Will be we making a formal announcement at any time.” Felix asked.
“Is that wise?”
“You will be attending your high school reunion. And no matter what I say, I can’t erase Adrien Agreste or take away their memory of you.” Felix had played off to the press that he was the face of the Agreste brand saying that there was no Adrien Agreste. It wasn’t a lie, Adrien Agreste no longer existed but that was only to give him the privacy to recovery form what his father had done to this city. The Graham De Vanily Brand was a refreshing new start for the former Agreste brand and they needed to make sure no scandals rose up to destroy that image.
“Transperency is important here. If the media got wind of a secret like this, say, you showing up to a high school reunion, it could be bad for the company’s image.”
“Can it wait until Saturday. I have some sleuthing to do without a bunch of people showing up.” Adrien asked. His stomach began to tie in knots at the thought of Nino showing up on his door, or even worse, Alya. That girl could be scary at times, and he knew Marinette would have told him about the last conversation they had. He couldn’t bear it.
“Fine.” Felix huffed. “I will contact Marinette to arrange a formal announcement at the reunion, so you can make your return public and televised.” His face burned at the thought of such a public re-entrance as his heart skipped a beat.
“If you insist.” He forced a smile as they pulled through the gates of the Agreste Manor. The insignia on the gate as well as all over the house spoke to Gabriel as the symbol was a G inside of a circle.
“I wish we could change that.” Adrien said.
“As long as Emelie lives, we can’t the house is hers.” Adrien didn’t know if that made it any better.
“She can have it.” Adrien thought. “I think I am happy in Shanghai.”
“What if things work out with you and…” Felix stopped the car infront of the entrance. “Marinette?”
“What makes you think I even have a chance with her after all these years?” Adrien looked at him. “You said yourself she stopped asking about me awhile ago.”
“Ask the same question and get the same answer too many times, people tend to stop asking.” Felix was right. Adrien pulled his suit case out of the back seat then leaned into the open window.
“Would you mind taking that to Tom and Sabine’s bakery, it’s a gift from Sabine’s uncle.”
“Shall I tell them you brought it for them?” Felix gave a mischievous smile then pulled away without an answer.
“Please don’t.” Adrien said to himself as he watched Felix drive away. He carried his bacg into the house hoping no one saw him. Felix had even excused the staff for the entire week as Adrien had requested. If Emelie never recovered, this house would become his officially, even though she was a year away from being declared dead before she was found in the basement of the manor. His bedroom was the same as the last time he had been in it. It had been cleaned but everything else was still the same. Including the fact that there were clothes still in the closets. He had bever been ablet to even pack his stuff.
“I don’t think any of it will fit anymore.” Plagg laughed then flew to his cheese fridge. It was a small fridge and was now empty. Plagg sighed in sadness.
“Shall we head out to Leons?” Adrien asked him. Adrien walked to the car garage. There were sever cars in their. He opened the lock box by the entry door and fished for a set of keys, there were three cars in their a tiny black coup, a silver sadan, and a black sadan. He picked up a set of keys and clicked the key fob to unlock the doors. The lights on the black sadan lit up. He clicked the lock but and put them back. Another key fob lit up the lights on the coup. He smiled then climbed inside. He had never driven this car. He had only ever been allowed to drive the silver one, but generally he always had his body guard drive him around.
He had a little bit of shopping to do so he started with Leon’s cheese store, then went to the market to get the supplies for dinner. He intended this to be a picnic unlike anything she has ever had before.

25 Ways to Save on a Wedding
First comes love, then comes marriage and then paying for the wedding. Guess what? There’s a reason no one writes fairy tales about the latter.
You don’t need to break the bank to make your day memorable, though. We've rounded up more than two dozen ways you can save on your wedding.
Tumblr media
The venue
1. Pick an off-peak date
Not all wedding dates are created equal. Find out which ones are most popular by looking up WeddingWire’s wedding date calendar. If there’s more demand for a given date, you’ll usually pay a higher price for a venue. You could score a discount for choosing a less popular month, such as January or February.
2. Skip the Saturday wedding
Saturday is a popular day for weddings, but it’s also generally the most expensive day to get married. You can likely reserve your venue at a lower price if you hold your wedding on a Sunday, or even a weeknight.
3. Try a nontraditional venue
A restaurant. A brewery. A vacation house. All these options are potential wedding venues. Picking a spot that doesn’t usually cater to weddings can help you save money — and give your nuptials a unique feel.
Restaurants, for example, typically don’t charge a venue fee. Instead, you pay for the food (and maybe the booze). Pick one with stellar decor and you can shave that cost off your budget, as well.
Make sure the venue is equipped to handle a large event, and don’t forget to factor in rental fees for things such as tents, lighting, or bathrooms, if necessary.
4. Negotiate unexpected costs
Lots of unexpected expenses can pop up during planning, including cake-cutting and corkage fees or power for your DJ and a photo booth. You don’t have to accept them unquestioningly. If a cost seems unreasonable, respectfully request to have it removed.
5. Use the venue's resources
Ask each venue what’s included in the rental fee. Some will include items such as tables, chairs or linens, which can translate into hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in savings. Beware of upcharges for higher-quality items. If you opt for a DIY venue or a backyard wedding, you’ll likely have to buy or rent everything from flatware to serving dishes to lighting.
Tumblr media
The invitations
6. Go paperless
You can send electronic invitations for free with Joy, a wedding website that also lets you manage your guest list (including those tricky plus-ones) and track RSVPs. Not ready to go fully paperless? Emailing your save-the-date reminders will still help you save on stationery and postage.
7. Print your own
Wedding invitations are easy to do-it-yourself. Tap a design-savvy friend or buy a downloadable template on a site such as Etsy. Then print them at home or at your neighborhood FedEx or another store. Either way, you’ll save a couple of hundred dollars over going with a professionally printed invitation suite.
Tumblr media
The dress
8. Check out department stores
Brides aren’t finding dresses at just the bridal shop these days. You can pick up a white dress in the prom or party dress section of any department store. The popularity of colored dresses makes formal gowns a nice substitute, too.
9. Consider bridal consignment
A secondhand wedding dress isn’t for everyone, but it’s a budget-friendly option for brides willing to think outside the box. Look for bridal shops that specialize in pre-owned wedding gowns, or check out websites like Stillwhite, Nearly Newlywed or Wore It Once, which have tens of thousands of once-worn and never-worn wedding dresses. You can also sell your dress via these sites after the wedding.
10. Shop sample gowns
Most wedding dresses are made to order, but brides can score a discount by buying a sample gown (what you try on in the store). The downside: The detailing on sample gowns can get worn from frequent handling, and the available sizes are often limited. Bridal salons typically carry samples in sizes 8 to 12, which translates to sizes 6 to 10 in street clothes. But some discount bridal shops primarily sell sample gowns and tend to have a wider size selection.
11. Borrow accessories
There’s more to your wedding attire than the dress (think jewelry, a veil and shoes). Save on your accessories by using family heirlooms. Not only will you save money, you’ll also cover your “something old” and “something borrowed.”
Tumblr media
Flowers and decor
12. Ask about excess inventory
Some floral designers have warehouses with excess inventory they’re willing to give away or lend for free. Once you’ve placed an order, ask about expanding your options.
13. Borrow from other newlyweds
Ask recently married friends if you can borrow centerpieces or other items left over from their events. Craigslist and Facebook groups are also a great resource to find (and later sell) low-cost wedding decor.
14. Scout out decorations at craft stores
Look for wedding decorations — especially light-up decor — in places such as craft stores and Dollar stores are wonderful places to find low-cost wedding decor.
15. Stick to in-season blooms
You may have your heart set on a particular pink flower to accent your bridesmaids’ bouquets but consider settling for a different shade or variety. Local blooms that are in season at the time of your wedding are less expensive. Also, local flowers tend to look fresher because they didn’t have to travel for days.
16. Get the most out of your flowers
A larger flower, such as a hydrangea, naturally looks fuller and takes up more space with fewer stems.  And you can repurpose ceremony flowers for the reception instead of buying more. For instance, use a ceremony arch to adorn your sweetheart table at the reception.
Tumblr media
Catering
17. Price out multiple meal options
Seated, plated dinners tend to be the most expensive option for catering. So ask each potential caterer about alternatives, including buffets, family-style stations or heavy hors d'oeuvres.
18. Simplify your drink options
An open bar stocked with liquor, mixers, beer and wine can be pricey. Consider sticking to beer and wine to save money while still keeping your guests, um, hydrated. Scaling back options will also help scale back the costs.
Want something more fun? Pick a signature drink to serve just during cocktail hour. You can even ask the bartender to serve them in smaller glasses. Most people will try the signature drink, take a sip, put it down and go back to their regular drink.
Tumblr media
Cake
19. Go for a shorter cake
The more tiers on your cake, the more it’ll cost you.  To save money stick to two tiers and have sheet cakes to serve. The cake you cut for your pictures doesn’t have to feed all your guests.
20. Dress up a store-bought cake
Don’t overlook grocery store bakeries. Their cakes can be delicious, beautiful, and affordable. Pick a simple design and dress it up with a few flowers — your guests won’t know the difference (nor would they care).
21. Pick a nontraditional dessert
There's no rule that says you have to serve cake at your wedding. If you’re indifferent about cake, serve pie or ice cream. Or cookies from your favorite bakery. Picking something you and your partner love will make the day feel extra special and will likely save you money in the process.
Tumblr media
Guests and the rest
22. Limit plus-ones
Instead of giving all guests older than 18 a plus-one option, limit it to couples you socialize with regularly. To avoid awkward questions, explain how you’re determining the guest list.
23. Keep things intimate
The guest list is often a point of contention. All vested parties — you, your partner, your respective parents — have friends and family you want to invite. But keeping your guest list small can help you save on all aspects of your wedding. Can’t swing an intimate affair? Trimming your guest list by just 10 to 20 people can save you $1,000 on food, alcohol, and rentals.
24. Choose a charitable favor
Don’t want to buy a favor for each wedding guest? Make a charitable donation on behalf of all your guests. That way, you can determine the amount that you’re comfortable spending, donate to a cause you care about and maybe even write off the contribution on your taxes.
25. Limit your photographer's hours
Save money by shaving off some of the time your photographer and videographer are present,  You’ll want them there for the ceremony, but you might not need footage of the end-of-reception dancing.
The bottom line: Devote the biggest parts of your budget to the areas that are most important to you and be willing to compromise on the rest. Anybody — whether they have a $10,000 budget or a $100,000 budget — is still working on a budget.

How Buying Office Stationery Online Can Save You Time and Money
Numerous little and medium organizations will be exceptionally acquainted with getting office writing material providers' inventories through the entryway consistently. These regularly furnish representatives with a concise rest from fill in as they take a gander at the different items on offer and think about making upgrades to their office climate.
To an ever increasing extent, nonetheless, organizations who sell their Stationery & Office Supplies with the help of paper-printed inventories are observing that they are confronting tough opposition from online merchants.
Albeit the conventional office writing material providers are far from missing out on laid out business, purchasing on the web is giving customers a more extensive assortment of choices. Correspondingly to retailers in various areas, office providers are finding that customers are going to online sellers to receive the rewards they give.
While flicking through the pages of a printed inventory might be to some degree restorative and helpful for the less technically knowledgeable, there are significant benefits in deciding to purchase writing material from web retailers.
The principal reason may not be an incredible amazement, as it has effectively impacted the manner in which great many various stores carry on with work. It is that purchasing on the web is frequently extremely straightforward and moderately calm. While conventional lists include glancing through many pages to observe the item wanted, looking through internet based shops is a lot more straightforward.
With the approach of the hunt bar, clients can gaze straight for the thing they expect by composing in a couple of words and clicking a button. Sites additionally offer instinctive menus which permit clients to rapidly peruse all items that fall into the specific class that is valuable to them.
One more key benefit of purchasing from online office writing material providers is the office of requesting and paying for merchandise. With customary paper indexes, the cycle can be long and laborious. A worker for an organization requesting new supplies is relied upon to finish up lengthy structures manually, and ascertain VAT and limited time decreases themselves.
Office writing material providers selling their products on the web have wiped out these issues. Shopping baskets make it simple to add and eliminate items, and VAT and limits are determined naturally. There is considerably less difficult work expected from the client, and any errors in complete expense are successfully wiped out.
Along these lines, the real demonstration of settling a request and paying for it is extremely speedy on the web. When the thing is paid for, an affirmation message will ordinarily illuminate the client on when they can anticipate that their items should be conveyed.
This varies from requesting supplies from printed inventories, which regularly include the sending of request sneaks past mail or by fax, which can be extended and temperamental.
Requesting via phone can likewise take a ton of time, which isn't generally great for a money manager with a ton on their plan for the day.
One more advantage of utilizing on the web office writing material providers is that it is not difficult to check whether an ideal item is unavailable. Online indexes are normally refreshed routinely, while perhaps not naturally. This contrasts drastically from their paper partners.
Numerous a client has been baffled by not having the option to get the things they need because of items leaving stock quickly, particularly with regards to advancements and deals. While this can likewise occur while shopping on the web, data about accessibility is ordinarily on clear showcase. Assuming a thing is unavailable, a few stores supply data on when it will open up once more.
At last, many contend that purchasing from office writing material providers that work solely on the web really offers better incentive for cash. One justification behind this is that web-based sellers have seemingly lower overheads than the individuals who disperse printed lists.
Obviously, it is actually the case that site creation, site upkeep and web showcasing likewise cost cash. However online retailers keep away from the considerably higher charges related with the printing and dispersion of thousands of inventories all around the country. With lower overheads, online organizations might possibly offer lower costs to their clients.

Put a bird on it
Prologue The most challenging design projects, they say, are the ones you do for yourself. Without parameters and constraints, timelines and clients, you miss the checks and balances that can often guide the process. The markers that tell you you're on the right track, moving in the right direction, are absent. When I was an undergraduate, I had a class where we had to design personal logos we could use on letterhead, stationery, and business cards in preparation for our impending job searches. It was honestly the hardest project of my college years.
Part 1: A Love Story On January 8, 2017, I proposed to my girlfriend, Eurry. It was three years to the day since our first date. We had met over a video conference when we both were working at Facebook; I was in San Francisco and she was in New York. I was a designer and she was a data researcher. One day in the middle of December, my team's project manager asked if I had some time to work on a small data visualization project for someone on the data team in New York. I reluctantly agreed. 'Small projects' always seemed to turn into 'big projects' and this was a team we hadn't worked with before. But a meeting was scheduled and I walked in knowing nothing. I was caught off guard when a cute girl wearing a black and white striped sweater from the New York office popped up on the video screen. I vaguely remember saying something to my project manager when we left the meeting about how cool Eurry seemed. I immediately sent her a Facebook friend request.
A few weeks later she was in the California office and we met in person to go over updates on the project. The meeting quickly turned into friendly conversation about our lives, discovering all sorts of shared interests. I didn't want the meeting to end. The next time she was in town, we went out for drinks and we have talked every day since, beginning what became a multi-year, bicoastal long distance relationship. We became best friends and fell in love.
We both eventually left Facebook — I went to graduate school and she went to work on Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign. We traveled, tried countless new restaurants, met each other's families, watched a lot of movies, and laughed a lot. We started talking about marriage, about moving in together, about our future. And then on a freezing, snowy morning last January after I pulled a ring from my pocket, I asked her to marry me. Through tears she said 'duh'.
But the story I'm writing here is not one of our relationship or of planning a wedding or even our wedding day. That's a story we want to save for our friends and family. Our married friends told us how all-consuming wedding planning can be so we decided early on that we'd share the planning responsibilities and take ownership over the parts we respectively cared more about. Eurry has stronger opinions about drinks, for example, so she'd handle the bar menu while I cared more about music and was tasked with choosing songs for our first dance and processional. You probably see where this is going: I was in charge of the visual design. And the visual design, it turned out, would be a special kind of challenge. This is a story about that process.
Part 2: Location, Location, Location Designing for our wedding became the hardest design project I've ever completed; certainly more challenging than those personal logos I did in college. It wasn't just about how I could represent our wedding visually but how to represent our entire relationship visually. We knew we wanted it to feel different — we wanted something casual and fun, informal and nontraditional. And we both desperately wanted to avoid the cliche calligraphy so dominant in wedding design these days. Almost immediately after we got engaged, I created a massive Illustrator file where I began setting our names in nearly every typeface I own in search of an interesting lockup or style that might emerge (perhaps something interesting with the double R's in both our names? Nope, too obvious), but for a long time it felt like I was going in circles, unable to figure out what our wedding should look like.
The biggest decision we had to make, however, was where we wanted to get married. One weekend last spring, we were sitting on the couch with our laptops looking at potential venues when Eurry found the John James Audubon House, located right outside Philadelphia and just forty-five minutes from where I grew up. We immediately knew this was where we wanted to get married. Audubon was a naturalist and a painter, most known for his paintings of birds. In an ambitious quest, he set out to paint every bird in North America, discovering at least twenty-five new species in the process. These paintings are collected in his famous book, The Birds of North America, which is considered the best ornithological work ever completed. This was Audubon's first home in North America and has since been converted to a public park, bird conservatory, and museum in his honor. We scheduled a visit a few weeks later and fell in love with the property — there was a beautiful apple orchard where we planned to hold the ceremony and an old barn perfect for a party. We picked a date and booked it.
It feels like cheating, but the venue helped clarify the visual design. The Audubon Society has made most of Audubon's paintings available in the public domain and offers high resolution reproductions as free downloads. I could use these images in the design! We both have love of birds and have a secret ambitions to get into birding. In fact, very early in our relationship, we laughed in amazement at how both of us had similar framed images of birds hanging in our apartments. Add the owl references from our favorite show and our love of Portlandia, a bird-themed wedding seemed perfect.
Part 3: Put a Bird On It With the venue booked and a library of high-resolution bird paintings on my hard drive, the design started to take shape. I went through countless typefaces — some were too formal and others too playful. I settled on ITC Serif Gothic for the logotype and Pitch for the accent typography. Serif Gothic is a typeface I've always admired but had yet to find an appropriate use for and Pitch has become a favorite monospace. Paired together, they immediately gave the design something that felt unique — blending the classic with the casual, the fun with the traditional.
I knew this would have to be treated like a brand — as it would be applied to everything from save the dates to name tags, invitations to menus — and needed to be flexible enough to work across mediums and scales. I decided we could allow design system to slowly reveal itself — using the incremental mailings, save the dates, invites, and RSVPs, to allow the entire aesthetic to unfold, each piece to increase in complexity and vibrancy as we got closer to the wedding day. The Save the Date cards that went out to our guests six months before the wedding were a simple black and white card, printed on a crisp white 130lb paper. A small vector bird perched atop an 'r' in Eurry's name hinted at the larger theme, the forest green envelopes previewed the color palette.
We directed guests to visit our website — eurryandjarrett.com — for travel and hotel details, links to our gift registry, and more information about the day itself. We used the website to introduce the venue and Audubon's paintings. The colors — forest green, a silvery-blue, and light pink — were pulled from a few of our favorite birds.
Three months later, the official invitations went out. Packaged in light blue envelopes, the invitations first appear to be black and white: the nameplate we introduced on the Save the Dates is on the front and opens for more information and RSVP details. But the invitation folds out one more time to reveal a large poster featuring a collage of Audubon's paintings, including the birds from which we pulled our colors as well as the state birds of California (where Eurry was born and where we met), Indiana (where I was born), New York (where we live now), and Pennsylvania (where I grew up and where we were getting married). We wanted something memorable — something that might not just be hung up on the refrigerator or thrown away after the wedding, but a piece of art our guests could remember our wedding by.
Part 4: The Day The design came together in a 20-page booklet I designed in place of a traditional program that included not only details about the day but also family photographs, a few of our favorite recipes, fun facts, and thank yous. Again, we wanted something people would want to keep — a scrapbook of sorts that our guests would feel invested in as they found photos of themselves and learn more about us and our story. The cover of the book expanded the collage from the invitation to include images of some of our favorite things and memorable moments in our relationship: the flowers from Eurry's bouquet, Twin Peaks and Portlandia, doughnuts, succulents, the Facebook sign, gummy bears, and ice cream.
Collage has become a go-to visual style of mine and is central to my own design process. For our wedding, I realized it could once again allow me to include everything we love instead of trying to find a color or style that somehow represented all of us. A key in the back of the book gave descriptions of everything hidden in the collage. This gave us variety in the design system while retaining a clear, distinct style; at once simple and diverse.
The venue offered their own signage, menus, and table numbers but we swapped them out for custom designs to match our design system. For dinner, three dishes were offered — chicken, fish, and vegetarian — and we asked our guests to select their preference on the RSVP cards. Their selections were noted on the name tags with small iconography to help the servers. (One of my favorite details: one couple brought their young child, who was served chicken fingers, and we noted his selection with a baby chick!). The florist decorated the tables forest green table clothes, navy napkins, and natural arrangements of ferns, succulents, and monstera. I designed table numbers that had Audubon's birds wrapped around each number, set in Serif Gothic that were placed in each arrangement. A small box with custom labels of black cherry gummy bears were set at each guest's plate as a small gift of thanks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beverages were offered before the ceremony started and were labeled with matching signage and drinks menus were displayed at the bar giving details on the wine and beer offerings. For the visitors who came in from out of town, a small gift bag was left in their hotel room with a few of our favorite things and a small postcard detailing the event (including the school bus that brought guests from the hotel to the venue!) and thanking them for coming into town. As if designing a brand system, every interaction our guests had at the wedding had been customized to match our design, from arriving at the hotel to the thank you notes sent out after. Each piece was fully branded and could stay on its own yet when brought together, created a narrative of our relationship.
It was fun to see it all come together and I enjoyed watching people read the booklets before the ceremony began. We couldn't have done it without the amazing team at Audubon and Jeffrey Miller Catering, who put it all together exactly like we wanted it. You can see more images of the design here.
Epilogue At the beginning of the summer, we got married in a barn in front of the people we love the most just as it began to rain. As we were pronounced husband and wife, Carly Rae Jepson's I Really Like You started playing. We moved to the pavilion where speeches brought us to tears; we ate and drank and thanked every guest for being there and being a part of our lives; we danced into the night as the rain poured outside.
The entire day feels like a blur to me. It was hard to take it all in. All the planning, all the designing, all the celebrating felt like a whirlwind. You know you've been to a good party, I think, when you have no pictures to remember it by. You were so in the moment you forgot to stop and document it. When we talked to our families the next day, none of us had any photos. So when we got our wedding photos back last week, we poured through every single one, reliving the day as spectators, piecing together the memories we had made. The same is true of the design. Designing for my own wedding was easily the hardest design project of my life because this wasn't another design or branding project but a scrapbook of our lives so far and a commemoration of our new life together. This was how we'd remember the day. Working on these pieces consumed our lives for the few months leading up the wedding and though it was just a small part of a day filled with friends and family and laughing and dancing and eating and drinking and birds and love. They serve as markers in time, totems for ourselves and our family and friends. Another way to remember a perfect day. It was the best day of my life. The next day, my face hurt from smiling so much.
