Lucy & Juvia oh how I wished you guys had more moments together!

i see a lot of ppl criticizing hiro’s decision to kinda “nerf” juvia and this is my take on it.

i think it has a lot to do with her backstory and not her love for gray. she didn’t get nerfed bc she fell in love. we can see that the only person who “accepted” and “cared” for juvia was the phantom lord’s master and that the only reason was for her powers.

but now that she is in fairy tail she doesn’t feel like she needs to be acknowledged in terms of power, the only thing she wants is to be loved and actually appreciated. we can see how her physical and mental strength develops but only when she wants to help her friends (not only gray). the fantasia arc for example, the tower of heaven arc, the tartarus arc.

we can also see she isn’t particularly interested in further developing her powers but she does it to be able to protect her friends bc she already has all she ever wanted. she’s always been powerful but all she ever wanted, like i js mentioned, is to be loved.

i don’t know if i explained this very well but this is how i see hiro’s decision to put aside juvia’s abilities and focus more on her relationships. i get that it can get frustrating but i rlly do think it reflects well on her backstory.

One thing I want to do is rewrite fairy tail because some of these characters are done dirty by Mashima or life in general.

Ideas include:

- Juvia gets more character development outside of her relationship to Gray. Yes, her relationship to Gray is so important, but I want the energy from the battle of fairy tail arc where she sacrificed herself for Cana and acted like a normal human being with Gray, while still showcasing her crush.

- Freed development! He was such an interesting character when he was introduced! He even shaved his hair after the battle to show his remorse! He was flirting with Mira! Then he turns into a Laxus fanboy?? On the same level as Juvia. Actually he doesn't have a steady character, it's like Mashima spins a wheel to decide how he's portrayed.

- Break Jellal out of the possession early! This is just because I love him and don't want him to suffer, but the implications of this are awesome. You have Ultear who lost her pawn, so now she has to decide whether to reveal herself or keep acting like a manipulated patsy. This could end up with Jellal chasing this woman to the ends of the earth and declaring war on Grimore Heart. Simon also lives! And discovers his identity as a bi man torn between Jellal and Erza. They end up as a codependent group and no one can tell whose romantically involved. (Is it Simon and Erza, Erza and Jellal, Jellal and Simon, all three of them?? Who knows?)

- NaLu will they won't they relationship, but from the guilds point of view. Are they dating? Natsu just broke into her house and cuddled with her, and Lucy just dragged Natsu to a restaurant and went on a walk after where they were holding hands the entire way! Meanwhile, Lucy goes around moaning about hows she's single forever, while Natsu goes around telling people he has a girlfriend. Everyone is confused because they didn't think Natsu knew what dating was. (This one is basically canon already).

I probably said this already but what the heck I’ll say it again. People say they liked Juvia before she was hyper obsessed with Gray because she was more powerful and "badass". But honestly her character was ALWAYS obsessed with Gray...

I mean her first initial introduction besides the Lucy scene was her NOT wanting to fight Gray because of love at first sight. I mean the entire fight was her l just analyzing everything he did and falling more in love with him. SHE DIDN'T EVEN REALLY FIGHT! Like being fr fr, we didn't even see her TRUE strength until she was already obsessed with Gray. And being in love didn't necessarily take away from her being physically strong. I mean look at Tenrou, Tartoros, and Alvarez! All arcs that happen later on where Juvia was super powerful AND already in love. So what do people really mean by that statement??

You'd make more sense just saying that you don't like Juvia because of her obsessiveness, or that you like her character design and potential as a character alone, which is 100% fine but don’t make it seem like her character was COMPLETELY different from the beginning of the series…

i feel like the fandom does gray and juvia so wrong some times. I don't rlly give a fuck ab the antis but i just feel like they gaslight too much and not just them but lowk the ff writers too. I rewatched fairy tail after 3 yrs and i realized how ooc gray is in the ffs most of the time. Like they play him as this jerk who doesn't care about juvia or her feelings but when you watch the show you lowk realize that he was almost never mean to her. He was always very nice even when they were enemies and also before he caught feelings (which btw i think was after or during the gmg). I don't have examples right now bc last time i watched it fr was like 6 months ago and i'm too lazy to argue but i stand by this.
