Δυσκολεύομαι να ξεκινήσω αυτήν εδώ τη σελίδα, ίσως φταίει το γεγονός πως έχω να δω τη μορφή του πολλά χρόνια. Είναι αργά, πλησιάζει 02:00. Είμαι στο πάρκο, η μυρωδιά του βρεγμένου από τη βροχή χώματος γίνεται όλο και πιο έντονη. Σηκώνω στιγμιαία το βλέμμα μου και παρατηρώ το νοσοκομείο που βρίσκεται απέναντι, το μέρος που ξεκίνησαν όλα.

Ήταν ένα κρύο πρωινό του Γενάρη. Είχα επισκεφτεί το νοσοκομείο, έπρεπε να ολοκληρώσω τη θεραπεία μου. Ήμουν χάλια. Στην προσπάθειά μου να νιώσω καλύτερα, έβγαλα ένα τετράδιο. Η άβολη καρέκλα του διαδρόμου με δυσκολεύει, θυμάμαι να ψηλαφίζω αργά τα σημάδια στο σώμα μου και συγκεκριμένα στα χέρια, προκειμένου να εμ��νευστώ και να γράψω το επόμενό μου κείμενο. Ήθελα να εγκλωβιστώ στο παρελθόν και το αύριο να μην έρθει. Μονάχα έτσι θα τον είχα κοντά μου. 

Έγειρα το κεφάλι μου προς τα πίσω και ακούμπησα τον τοίχο, καθώς ένα δάκρυ κατηφόρισε το μάγουλό μου. Τότε, σαν άγγελος που έχασε τον δρόμο του, πέρασες από μπροστά μου. Ο κόσμος συνήθιζε να με κοιτάζει με οίκτο, μα εσύ με κοίταξες με συμπόνια. Δεν θέλω να πω ψέματα, ήμουν έτοιμη να τα παρατήσω, είχα αποφασίσει πως δεν θα κερδίσω αυτή τη μάχη. Με πλησίασες, κάθισες στο πλάι μου και μου έπιασες το χέρι. “Είμαι εδώ„ μου ψιθύρισες στο αυτί. Αναρωτήθηκα, για πόσο ακόμα; Μα δεν είχε σημασία.

Δεν έμαθα ποτέ το όνομά σου. Δεν μου είπες μεγάλα λόγια, όμως αυτή η φράση σήμαινε πολλά. Πίστεψες σε εμένα ακόμη και όταν δεν με γνώριζες. Με συνάντησες στα σκοτεινότερά μου χρόνια και η αλήθεια είναι πως, όπως με έμαθες εσύ, δεν θα με μάθει κανείς. Πλέον έρχεσαι στη ζωή από τα δάκρυά μου, καθώς δακρυσμένη με γνώρισες. Ένα από αυτά πέφτει στο ήδη νωπό χώμα, μα δεν πειράζει. Σε ευχαριστώ που με έσωσες.

I try to find the beauty in everything and look at others without judgement, regardless of how I feel about myself. And I think it’s important that we acknowledge that beauty isn’t just on the surface of our sins, but it’s everywhere.

What's the solution to the project?

I try to solve the problem among my working colleagues. They feel isolated from the company when they work at home. They feel they are not connected with the company. Or they just think it is a money relationship with the company.

so I try to build an emotional relationship between the employee and the company. Surely the company only wants profits from the employees. But as a manager or an event organizer, it is possible to build a relationship.

I think it is more like a present given to you when you first join the company, like a notification from the university before you enter college. Since we deliver the computer after the onboarding, so the preset can be sent along.

I would like to call my project a black box, since I have no idea what kind thing I want to make. But it can be a bridge between the employee and the company.

We also have the part where new employees introduce themselves at the monthly meeting. So it can be an input material of the black box.

PHANTOM BODIES FINAL

Dimensions: 3ft x 2ft

Medium: Plaster, wire, plastic bag, tape, and blanket fabric.

Throughout neighborhoods of Miami, one could find the parts of animals on the streets. This sculpture is the unsettling imagery of discarded animal parts used with human limbs. The only body part familiar to a human being are the feet sticking out from the opening of the bag. The display is hung by wire and is contrasted with the rough cuts shown on the feet. It looks like perhaps there is a body curled up in the bag but the size of the feet indicates that it belongs to someone much bigger. The monochrome palette keeps it from giving away too much as the contents of whats inside is wrapped in a white blanket prompting the audience to look closer for inspection.

Weeks 11, 12, & 13 Reflection

Project 4 was exciting to me because syntax and semantics are such an important part of design that can be seen in the world around us, especially in industry and advertising. I often think of art as being a wild and creative form, so this is not a project I would typically take on in my own time, but I really enjoyed learning about visual hierarchy and appealing layouts because it is so applicable. I very much enjoy fashion, so I wanted to try to describe something that I really like to add my own style to the project. I went about this piece as though I was creating a website or advertisement for a company selling these purses and I wanted a consumer to be able to read it and know the vibe that the purse would bring to an outfit and to what type of event they should wear it to. I am working on a few personal digital projects and a lot of times I don’t know why something doesn’t look good so learning about spacing my type and matching fonts was a great skill to acquire.

My library study for project 5 was a great way to begin because it was a lot of fun and I saw a lot of different kinds of layouts, so I gathered a lot of inspiration.  I very much enjoyed seeing layouts in design books that I actually didn’t like. That sounds weird, but sometimes I don’t love my work and other people do, or I am told I should change something about my work that I don’t like, so for some reason it was comforting for me to be able to have that opinion about a design book in a library. Digging through my pinterest helped me piece together what direction I wanted to go in and what it truly was that I was being drawn to in my layouts from the library study and after creating my mood board and layout draft I am excited to get moving on this project and bring together all of my work!

Statement of Intent (P)

For this project I intend to create one to three different drawings, the likes of which resemble architectural blueprints/schematics.  This project concerns the idea of “home” as something other than a physical space.  Home, for me, is not about the physical space I and others might inhabit, but is instead about the individuals themselves.  I consider “home” to be synonymous with “comfort” and for me, comfort is found most readily in a select few people in my life.  For this project I am going to choose one or more of these people and create, in their likeness, a blueprint/schematic.  I am going to treat individuals themselves as if they were the physical space one might typically associate with an architectural blueprint - a home - and use information gathered regarding their specific body measurements, bodily features, and non-representational (can’t readily be represented visually) qualities (personality, mood, etc) to create this work. 

I believe I am going to focus primarily on my significant other as he is one of the people I consider to be most home-like.  I will take all of the information I gather (everything I mentioned previously) and, using architectural blueprints/schematics as a reference, will create what I feel is the best representation of him as if he himself were this physical space one could inhabit.  I will do this on 18 by 24 Strathmore drawing paper and I will use a series of colored pencils, pens, and markers (as well as rulers) to complete this. I believe the final piece will be displayed on a wall.
