Lady Avalon's True Name is Manaka Sayjou.

(Want to make clear that I'm only talking about the FGO Servant, not the version in Prototype) (Only FGO JP Spoilers are a Valentine, and Arcade- not the collab, but actual one that was already out by LB7)

Lady Avalon is a servant introduced in Grand Order during the summer 7 Arctic Summer World Event. She is part of the pretender class. A class known for having a "True Name" that is revealed at a later point in the story. Lady Avalon is an exception*

Elisa is also an exception but the reason she's a pretender is explained in the story- the fusion with Shi Jin and appears to be powerless. Lady Avalon's explanation is more complicated.

We are given two explanations for why she is one and both of them are deliberately uh maybe? Lady Avalon is very insistent on it being because she's not a human- but her bond profile makes it sound like it's about the question:

So let's zoom out for a minute. Lady Avalon has some unique and odd attributes that are solely her.

She is the first and only character in the entire game to exclusively exist as a Summer Servant.

She is a Pretender despite being a Caster in Arcade, and no explanation is given · Nov 6, 2024 Oberon cannot see Merlin. He has a passive skill that only effects Merlin and lowers his buff success rate. Lady Avalon is not affected by said passive skill. What's more, Lady Avalon directly comments on noticing Oberon in her valentine! · Nov 6, 2024 If she is just Proto Merlin, there is a lot of questions. Why does she flee from Arthur? Why does she refuse to admit she's Merlin? Why can she see Oberon? Why is it being treated like she's hiding some great secret.

Why does she call Arthur her beloved?

We have also met the actual Merlin Prototype and both their attitude and word choice do not seem to line up with Lady Avalon. In the Arthur Trial Quest they talk to Arthur and do not sound at all like Lady Avalon aside from the occasional giggle. And they are not shy.

Ibuki-douji believes they know some great secret about Lady Avalon. Our entire list of characters with dialogue for her is Gareth (Same banner), Arthur, Nero Draco, Ibuki and… David?

Ibuki also has a tendency to know things she shouldn't so…

Lady Avalon and Merlin describe the Grail very differently. Manaka in Prototype talks about how the original purpose of the grail is to collect wishes and summon a Beast. But how are they fulfilling their purpose in Chaldea then? Like unless Ritsuka is going to be a beast...

Romulus in Arthur's interlude refers to Beast VI- the one Arthur is hunting as the Beast who will come beyond the stars borders. Then Lady Avalon is addressed a Beast of the Stars by Nero Draco in the Official Translation of Lilim Harlot…

Personality: Myriam can be described as Proto Merlin, but toned down. Also, she has more common sense in that she doesn’t always do things just for fun. The things she inherited from her mom are her love of pranks and messing with people and a thing for boys. Especially Morgan and her children. From her father’s side, she got his sense of responsibility and reason. That being said, she is still the child of a Merlin. So keep that in mind.

Other Stuff: Has outstanding Magic circuits that put her on the same level as some of her more magically gifted siblings such as Cayde, and the children of Morgan. Likes flaunting her magically skills to get attention, but not to a narcissistic degree. Daddy’s little girl. Loves giants robot shows, movies, and anime. Even modeled her staff after a certain Sacred Implement. She frequently uses concealment/invisibility spells to hide and listen in on people’s conversations.

Bio: The unlikey/likley? child of F!Merlin from the Fate/Prototype timeline. Her conception and birth were the result of Merlin once again doing what she is most known for: having fun, and “liking” boys just too much. Because making a kid was something she never did before, she decided “why not” and just did it. But since this is Merlin we are talking about she had little desire to put any effort into actually raising her daughter. This was probably the best outcome since under her father’s care, she grew up to be a more responsible individual than her mom. That being said, Merlin did meet with and tutored her daughter in her dreams, but only on and off.

Much of her magical skill comes from male Merlin who took an interest in teaching his “daughter”. As such Myriam also grew to view him as her second dad(which is true in a sense). Although not all of his influence was great, since she learned her concealment spells from him which she used to troll people to no end. Surprisingly though, Fou does not seem to have a problem with her, most of the time. Most of her friends are her half-siblings since they are the only ones who can put up with her.

However, despite her mischievous happy attitude, Myriam secretly resents the fact that her mother is mostly absent in her life. Seeing her half-siblings having a relationship with their moms is cause for sadness whenever she sees them. Her pranks are done partly because she is lashing out at to get attention and be noticed. While she could never really hate her mom, she does hold some anger toward her for not being there all the time. While her father and male Merlin have made her understand why F!Merlin is the way she is when it comes to being a distant mother, she still wishes she and her mom could have that kind of real family relationship that she sees every day.

M!Merlin: Dad is so fun to hang out with, one time I pulled a prank on a bunch of Amazons and we had to run for our lives. The adrenaline rush was so worth the scolding I got from Father later.

Arthur Pendragon: I don’t know how much of this is true, but apparently when I was born, King Arthur looked like he was about to walk into Avalon and back out with my mother’s head. Thankfully he didn’t, not even I wish that fate upon mother.

Morgan: Every time she looks at me it’s like shes staring daggers into my soul. I think it is because I keep messing with her kids, or something. That or maybe I remind her too much of Dad.

Cayde: Cayde is honestly the best bro! I practically cross dimensions every day to hang out with him. Although the father from that universe is worried I might one day make a singularity with how often I do it without proper regulation. But that won’t happen, right?

Dawn: I’ll be honest, seeing Dawn kicking butt is primetime entertainment! I love that fighting attitude of hers! It’s very helpful we were both in sticky situations.

You know those reborn as a villainess manga/manwha? (that I am shamefully addicted to.) How would GilHaku work if Hakuno gets reincarnated as the villainess? What villainess? Ishtar? Or ProtoMerthur - all I can think is human!Merlin ends up as Guinevere. Also, I was reading your fragments fic, and I gotta say, when I first saw the 'Halloween' chapter title my first thought was 'Gilgamesh is going to absolutely MERC Michael Myers' Lol.

So to be honest, with all of the information I now have with Merlin, I'm 100% sure she was supposed to be a villainess in Prototype. Mostly because

She's a woman who is not the mc in a 90's light novel with a female lead.

She's pretty and clearly proud of it.

She had a prior relationship with the intended male lead.

...you'll see.

Hakuno it would be that she's somehow incarnated as Ishtar. She's somewhat horrified, but honestly tries to make good on...some of the garbage that had been done in the past. She has no idea WHY Gilgmaesh is suddenly VERY interested in that sacred marriage.

I'm trying not to have spoilers, and I don't think I can do Draco since she's a JP locked servant. So, I'll be adding that to the rules since I lack knowledge of them. I'm not counting Lady Avalon since she's Proto Merlin and doesn't have a lot of differences from what I know.

Good job, you made everything 100 times worse by... somehow, catching her eye.

She is probably one of the worst yanderes to have in all of FGO. Whether you're the master of Chaldea or just a worker, she will make every Lostbelt she is in hell for everyone. Her main quest won't stop, of course. You're just a nice bonus for her.

She doesn't want anyone to know her attraction to you, of course. In the beginning, she barely believes she has feelings. During Anastasia, she thinks it's just hate for humans, that she wants you dead more than others. But every time she thought about her plan, she noticed that it kept changing to keep them alive.

They plans in question are not the best out comes for them. All of them make you more of a lap pet than actually a person. If more like when she does succeed and kidnap them from Chaldea, you won't see her a lot. She does care a lot and will baby you when she is around, but her mission is just as important to her. So, having her new beloved in a place she can control keeps her mind at ease.

There are two differences to this, the first being if you're just an employee or the master of Chaldea. If they're just an employee, she honestly won't believe Chaldea would bother saving you. Assuming that they would believe they're just dead since it's not like you'd be a useful hostage. This would make them easier to get since she has few expectations for anyone trying to help, as well her as keeping a lighter hold on you. [It's not that light, but still.]

If they're the master however, you're kept locked in a way it's hard for her to even get to you. She knows full well the moment she kidnapped them, Chaldea started making a plan to get them back. It makes her so paranoid that she'll get frustrated at how much she has to balance now. She doesn't regret it, though, and she's still confident she can take care of anything thrown at her.

{Yandere Proto Merlin/Lady Avalon}

Neither she nor anyone else knows when her feelings started, but a plan to get into a relationship was in motion the moment she was summoned. Being a yandere is very easy for Lady Avalon. Most people believe that she's just joking around and her attraction won't last long.

She uses her position as a powerful mage as a reason to get them alone under the idea of training. She doesn't immediately make these lesson secret surprise dates. They start as actual lesson that are very useful even with how challenging they can be. Slowly but surely, the learning part does fade out. With breaks becoming longer, whatever she's teaching is becoming both easier and less useful.

Once these lessons start shifting, they pretty much just become private hang out time. A big part of her plan is isolation and gaslighting. Why wouldn't others leave you two alone? She's giving you life or death lessons, missions keep getting more difficult, and those you go up against have many different abilities and strategies that can ruin everything if you're not ready.

You can't complain either. Weren't you the one who complained about how difficult and confusing her lessons were? She's giving you easier ones and longer break times because you asked her to. She's cares about your mental and physical health and is trying to tailor her lessons to you! Being a teacher is just as hard as being a student.

Since her past lesson took a lot of time, it was required to tell other servants that they just don't have the time at the moment to hang out. This had to happen so often that a lot of servants just stopped asking.

For those who didn't back off, she went to Da Vinci to ask her to tell others how important this was. And if they didn't work, she's given long and tiring lectures about how these are necessary and whatever else comes to mind until they agree out to make her stop.

No one's really aware that the lessons stopped weeks ago. They're private and important, needing everyone to not be near the training room or the master's bedroom. She wishes that the dates weren't just limited to holograms in the training room or long movie nights with the occasional rayshift. But it's better than nothing, either this or others butting into the relationship. Slow and steady wins the race after all, and she's already won.
